In Quebec they are now asking you to have you baby seat certified by the Police

I just came back from a meeting at the hospital with mi Girlfriend whoses about to give birth to our first child and came back totaly disgusted. We went there too have the Tour and see where we had to go when the moment commes for mi girl friend to give birth and we were given a paper that says that you should go to your nearest Police station and have your baby seat certified that its properly installed and that it meets Safety regulation. The nurse said the usual,: Its not Mandatory buuttttttttttttttt you should do it for your child safety and when your gona leave the hospital were gona come and show you how to put your baby in is baby seat and check again if its safe.

I couldnt  find an online version of the paper but here is the Governement Website where they tell you that you should get it certified.

would you know if this means you have to pay extra? I don't think they can do much if you install it yourself...will you allow them to give your baby the vitamin K shot? I plan on telling them to not give it

It's just a courtesy. In older model cars they don't have the top strap clip and they would install it for you at no charge. This is in the States now so I don't know if its legit. I don't think there is anything shady about it.

Its free, you can just call them and ask for an appointement.

They cant arrest you for installing yourself  the baby seat. Like i said, the nurse insisted on the fact that its not Mandatory but you should do it, its for your child safety, just like taking there fingerprint at Mcdonald is. For the old car thing, do not worry, our governement just passed a new Environmental law that says that this years, everyone who sells a car that is 8 years old and more need to be inspected for greenhouse gaz emission and that next years, all thoses who own a 8 years old car will have to have to go through the same inspection. Then 1 years later, it wont only be greenhouse gaz emission, it will be mechanics and everything else in your car. If you do not meet Provincial regulation, they will remove your car from circulation.


The main reason why i think that its completely ridiculous is that they give you the impressions that its mandatory and since that in Quebec we have a huge nanny state, i wouldnt be surprise that this come next in our governement agenda.
