9-13-11
Crawford County Courthouse in Van Buren, Ark. 1 dead, 1 wounded
On a Tuesday afternoon, one James Ray Palmer, 48, of Kibler, Arkansas, went on a shooting rampage that began on the second floor of the Crawford County Courthouse in Van Buren. Despite firing at least 70 rounds, he only managed to lightly wound a secretary(Vickie Jones), before police shot him dead 12 minutes later at around 3:45 pm on the courthouse lawn. He had on a two-tone gray/black trenchcoat with some kind of logo on the back. See the video:

The weapons were hidden under a
trench coat he was wearing.
The alleged motive was the suspect's unhappy divorce combined with recent loss of his job. Deputies say his target was the judge who presided over his divorce and custody hearing back in 2001, though ironically the judge was out sick that day.
Second suspect?

wearing a headset and possibly communicating with another person. They later ruled that out. Police did confirm Palmer was wearing a headset that was likely connected with his cell phone.**
