http://harndenblog.dailymail.co.uk/2012/02/santorum-campaign-suggests-romney-may-have-done-deal-to-make-ron-paul-his-running-mate.html Interesting article. What do you guys make of it? Romney-Paul would wipe out Soetoro-Biden. fter tonight's debate, in which Ron Paul and Mitt Romney repeatedly attacked Rick Santorum over his 16-year record in Congress, the former US Senator for Pennsylvania hinted that something nefarious was going on. "You have to ask Congressman Paul and Governor Romney what they've got going together," Santorum told reporters in the spin room in Mesa, Arizona. "Their commercials look a lot alike and so do their attacks." Santorum's top strategist John Brabender went even further, charging that the two men had "joined forces" and were coordinating attacks against his man "Clearly there's a tag team strategy between Ron Paul and Mitt Romney. For all I know, Mitt Romney might be considering Ron Paul as his running mate. Clearly there is now an alliance between those two and you saw that certainly in the debate."

I mentioned this about a month ago, when rumors of Paul was being "TOO" nice to Romney in the debates. I wonder if he would really do that?

I don't know. This is all over the web today. I would like to believe it is BS, as most of his followers would be disappointed by a move like that. Hopefully the Ron Paul camp will address the matter with a statement soon.

I think this whole narrative is a set up to make Paul supporters reject him and maybe even get support for Romney so I will give Ron Paul the benefit of the doubt all the way to the bitter end.
That said if it turns out to be true and he joins Romney on a ticket I'm done. I know as well as everyone that VP is an empty position with no power or say. You rarely even see the VP on television for crying out loud so even to spread the message there are better ways not to mention the damage to his anti-establishment cred.
I can't negotiate in my mind any positives at all for Paul to Join Romney who is a total NWO stooge.
I think this is all nonsense and that he would never do this as it would damage his whole legacy and even the future of his son.
How would you respond. Maybe he is getting bad advice and taking it who knows. It's an upsetting notion to say the least.

Won't happen - Santorum was likely talking out of the side of his mouth he didn't know exists.
With that being said, the VP guy will likely either be Gov Chris Christie of NJ(who's been overt-ly putting an outward appearance of being a conservative), or some "evangelical" ala Sarah Palin 4 years ago in order to try to court the "evangelical right".

Nah Ron Paul will choose Chuck Baldwin or Wayne Allen Root if he is going to pick anybody.
Or he may pick an unknown to allow the CP & LP to gain their clout.

I would hate for Ron to have to sit in the WH cabinet room and have him sit there silently while Romney manipulates the people. Just my opinion but I think Romney would use Ron Paul to get him into the white house but treat him like the "crazy uncle" and strip any power from the Vice President. Ron Paul would probably be out of place and it would be a terrible way to spend the last years of your life. To be one step away from the American seat of power but feel hopeless because you in the room full of unscrupulous people.

I can say 2 things about this. One is that the VP really doesn't have much power BUT the VP does over see congress. So that may help.
The BAD scenario that I see is that IF RP runs as VP and they win the election, I can see the President elect being assassinated or an attempt being made so the RP becomes president and at that point they will blame it on the patriot movement and it will be open season on patriots.
I can actually see the elite trying something like this as an excuse to bring in martial law and start rounding up Patriots.

Alex is talking about it now and AJ says it is coming from many sources including Benton. AJ says he hopes this isn't true and so do I. If it happens what would you think? Hypothetically.

No and that is why I am still 100% with Paul. but Jesse Benton has kind of suggested it and that should be of concern.

Executive Roles and Responsibilities of the U.S. Vice President
It's difficult to say precisely what vice presidents do in any collective sense; in many cases vice presidents do what assignments they can wrestle out of the president's hands. Some have done little at all, aside from being present in case the president can't perform his or her duties. Most often, vice presidents do what their presidents ask them to.
Over time, and through precedents set by earlier vice presidents, customary roles for the vice president have emerged. He or she may serve as a surrogate while the president is traveling abroad. The vice president may receive foreign dignitaries -- a customary role of the executive branch -- and host state dinners. The vice president may also travel in the president's stead, to meet with foreign counterparts or attend state funerals. The vice presidency has traditionally been an office where the spillover of unwanted or extra presidential responsibilities lands.
Perhaps the most contiguous role of the vice presidency over the years has been that of ticket balancer. Vice presidents have often served as foils to the president; conservative or liberal, experienced or young, domestically minded or interested in foreign policy. The constituency a vice president brings along is also important; a Southerner may be chosen to balance a Northern presidential candidate. The vice president's importance in balancing a ticket during a campaign is generally short-lived, however. Vice presidents chosen mostly or solely on their ability to balance tickets -- such as Vice President Dan Quayle -- have traditionally seen "their status and value evaporated after election day" [source: Hatfield].
Modern vice presidents have also assumed another traditional role during the campaign: attack dog for the head of the ticket. While the electors of a state are compelled to cast separate votes for the president and vice president, the popular vote is by ticket or party. Conventional wisdom states that individual voters generally vote for the head of the ticket. Largely freed from constraints of popular opinion, the vice presidential candidate can serve as a vocal critic of the opposition and launch attacks against it. This allows the presidential candidate to maintain an air of composure and decorum toward the rival candidates, while still attacking the opposition's credibility, experience and policies. This role of surrogate may also continue after inauguration, as some modern vice presidents have continued their role of defender of presidential agendas and lambaster of presidential critics.
Some vice presidents have taken a more active role than others. Under President Dwight Eisenhower, Vice President Richard Nixon took strong stances on behalf of the administration. Nixon largely took matters into his own hands to shape the roles of the vice presidency to suit his ambitions, and he was successful. Whereas vice presidents before him may have simply smiled and left debate with foreign leaders to their president, Nixon often took the foreign policy reins. In one famous visit to the USSR in 1959, Vice President Nixon toured an international exposition in Moscow with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev. Nixon debated the merits of capitalism over democracy with Khrushchev, much of the discussion being caught on television, and launching Nixon and the office of the vice president into new levels of prestige in the public opinion.
Ultimately, the vice president has one main duty, to preside over the Senate.

No one here is backing that ticket that I know of nor do they intend to. I do not care if the Lord almighy came down and said such crap, I still would not believe it until I saw it if I were you. Like Alex says , do not take his word verify for yourself, this is a prime example although I have not litened to todays show yet. If Paul himself has not stated it than it is only a rumor.

That does not mean it's always a fact! Until we hear this one from Ron Paul's mouth, I wouldn't believe it! People are continually saying things about Ron Paul, many of which are untrue! People need to stop speaking for Ron Paul! They are many times wrong!

The Primary isn't even close to being over. This is a subject that shouldn't even be mentioned yet. Maybe Mitt asked Paul out of the friendship they developed in 2008 but it shouldn't have legs as of yet.
And Mr Leakage is using it as a tool to disenfranchise Paul and Romney supporters who probably aren't hard core, in order to bring them in to his camp. It's too early in the game to worry about this.
You guys are being distracted, mission accomplished.

I don't think there is much evidence of it being true at this point, but l'd certainly be okay if he was made VP.
1) VP is largely ceremonial, but provides infinitely more opportunity for exposure to the public at large of our key ideas. This is true both in the race and if elected.
2) He deserves it. Even if it would be a mere ride into the sunset thing (which I don't believe either), the man has been fighting his entire adulthood and has made more progress than any single person in my lifetime. I remember well the Morton Downey Jr. days.

The VP's job basically is to take control of Senate - lets say that Romney gets the nomination and RP is out. Would you rather him sit on the sidelines or have some influence in a VP position. I leave those as choices because he's said, several times that he would NOT go outside the party.
