I normally don't concern myself with the personal lives of celebrities, but I've long had the impression that Whitney Houston's psychological health started a gradual yet steady decline the moment she became emotionally addicted to Bobby Brown, and that he was therefore to her what Yoko Ono was to John Lennon. Yup. Talented.... with no self-respect. There's danger taking all these drugs - they know it. No excuse. She could have gotten herself out of all that by choosing to live a different life. She had everything she wanted, fame, she was worshipped by many, she had talent. Too bad but she missed out on a really good life by keeping herself free from all that crap. |

I agree that this does not need to become a distraction, but will, at least to some. Anyway, I too grew up in the 80's, Whitney was just a few years older than me. I too believed this day would come several years ago and recently had been happy that she seemed to be 'coming out of it' and trying to get things together. I believe she had the best voice in history (in earlier years), bar none (running a close second would be her mother, Ciccie). RIP Whitney!

It's also been almost 20 years since Kevin Costner has been a major Hollywood player(which was when his movie with Whitney Houston, "The Bodyguard", was released). For some reason, Costner just could never bounce back after a few bombs in the 90's(Wyatt Earp, Waterworld, the Postman, etc).
Anyhow, didn't watch the funeral, but when Costner was announced as one of the speakers, it was as if he was someone you completely forgot about - for some reason, unlike the other Hollywood people, Costner never struck me as some Illuminati/mind-control puppet, nor ever heard rumors of him being an occultist. Maybe that's why his career took a permanent dead-end 20 years ago, while others like Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, and John Travolta continue to thrive after bombs here and there.

I'm not the movie buff I was once way back in the 90's, however, Costner comes off more like a "plain joe" and an "average looking fellow", which is not typical at all of your glitter-like Hollywood celeb. And like mentioned above, I've never heard rumors of him being involved with the occultists. Dunno, maybe that's why his flagging career kept free-falling and never rebounded - look at John Travolta, it looked like "Battlefield Earth" would put a fork in his career(for good this time), but he kept coming back with hit movies. OTOH, maybe Costner wanted to be no part of the establishment, which was probably why you heard nothing but bad things from the media after "Wyatt Earp" bombed(ie-David Letterman made a joke then how people would rather go through torcher in the hot heat then sit through 3 hours of this movie). As for "Waterworld" - from what I read then, audiences were favorable to it, but there was too much manufactured negative publicity(it seemed) over how Costner fired the director b/c he hated how his hair looked like, so he reshot half of the movie himself. As for "The Postman", it seemed like the entertainment media put a fork in it the minute people started hearing about it.(never saw either one, though) But yeah, if Costner really wanted to be part of the establishment, you would think he would have came back to A-list status by now. |

Lol. The Bodyguard is the Warner Brothers film tonight. It was on a few weeks ago too.... I like Costner, but have always thought he was miscast in that film. It should have been Val Kilmer or Daniel Day-Lewis. |

After watching a few clips from the funeral, it appeared to me that Dionne was under the influence...of something! She couldn't even get a sentence out straight. |
