Government Censorship, Protecting You From Reality

« on: December 30, 2011, 03:26:47 PM »

The Hunger Games is a young adult novel written by Suzanne Collins. It was originally published on September 14, 2008, by Scholastic.[1] It is the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy.[2] It is written in first person and introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where the countries of North America once existed. This is where the government, working in a central city called the Capitol, holds power. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl aged 12 to 18 from each of 12 districts for a massive televised battle in which only one person can survive.

Plot

The Hunger Games takes place in an unidentified future time period after the destruction of North America, in a nation known as Panem. Panem consists of a wealthy Capitol and thirteen surrounding, poorer districts. District 12, where the book begins, is located in the coal-rich region that was formerly Appalachia.[7]

As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol, every year, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected by lottery and forced to participate in the Hunger Games, a televised event in which the participants, or "tributes," must fight to the death in a dangerous, outdoor arena, controlled by the Capitol, until only one remains. The story follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12, who volunteers for the 74th Games in place of her younger sister, Primrose. Also participating from District 12 is Peeta Mellark, a baker's son whom Katniss knows from school and who once gave her bread when her family was starving.

Katniss and Peeta are taken to the Capitol, where their mentor, Haymitch Abernathy, a former Hunger Games victor, instructs them to learn about the other tributes. They are then publicly displayed to the Capitol audience. During this time, Peeta reveals on-air his long-time unrequited love for Katniss. Katniss believes this to be a ploy to gain audience support for the Games, which can be crucial for survival, as audience members are encouraged to send gifts like food, medicine, and tools to favored tributes during the Games. The Games begin with eleven of the 24 tributes dying in the first day, while Katniss relies on her well-practiced hunting and outdoor skills to survive. As the games continue, the tribute death toll increases. Days later, Katniss develops a short alliance with Rue, the twelve year-old girl from District 11 who reminds Katniss of her sister Prim. When Rue is killed by another tribute, Katniss shoots him through the side of the neck with one of her arrows and comforts dying Rue. She sings to her, and then spreads flowers all over her body as a sign of distaste towards the Capitol.

Supposedly due to Katniss and Peeta's beloved image in the minds of the audience as "star-crossed lovers," a rule change is announced midway through the games, stating that two tributes from the same district can win the Hunger Games as a pair. Upon hearing this, Katniss searches for Peeta and finds him wounded. She nurses him back to health and acts the part of a young girl falling in love to gain more favor with the audience and, consequently, gifts from her sponsors. When the couple are finally the last two tributes, the Gamemakers suddenly reverse the rule change and try to force them into a dramatic finale, where one must kill the other to win. Instead, they both threaten suicide in hope that the Gamemakers would rather have two winners than none. It works and both Katniss and Peeta are declared winners of the 74th Hunger Games.

Though she survives the ordeal in the arena and is treated to a hero's welcome in the Capitol, Katniss is warned by Haymitch that she has now become a political target after defying her society's authoritarian leaders so publicly. Afterwards, Peeta is heartbroken to learn that their relationship was at least partially a calculated ploy to earn sympathy from the audience, although Katniss remains unsure of her own feelings.

A little something for the teenagers...

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games is a young-adult science fiction novel written by Suzanne Collins. It was originally published on September 14, 2008, by Scholastic.[1] It is the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy.[2] It introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where North America once stood. This is where a powerful government working in a central city called the Capitol holds power. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to fight to the death. The Hunger Games exist to demonstrate not even children are beyond the reach of the Capitol's power.

Collins says that the idea for The Hunger Games came from channel surfing on the T.V. On one channel she observed people competing on a reality show and on another she saw footage of the Iraq War. The two blended together and the idea of children fighting each other to the death was formed. The Greek myth of Theseus also served as inspiration for the book, with Collins describing Katniss as a futuristic Theseus.[3] Her father's service in the Vietnam War helped her understand how it feels to fear the loss of a loved one.

The book has been released as a paperback and also an audiobook, which was read by Carolyn McCormick. The Hunger Games has an initial print of 200,000 - increased twice from an original 50,000. Since its initial release, the novel has been translated into 26 different languages and rights have been sold in 38 countries. The book received mostly positive reviews from major reviewers and authors, such as Stephen King. Hunger Games is the first novel in a trilogy, followed by Catching Fire, published September 1, 2009,[4] and Mockingjay, published August 24, 2010.[5]

sounds similar to battle royale :-  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Royale_(film)

Quote
The film opens with the prologue text, "At the dawn of the millennium, the nation collapsed. At fifteen percent unemployment, ten million were out of work. 800,000 students boycotted school. The adults lost confidence and, fearing the youth, eventually passed the Millennium Educational Reform Act, AKA the BR Act..."

Japanese teenager Shuya Nanahara struggles to cope with life after his father commits suicide by hanging. His classmate, Noriko Nakagawa, finds her class empty with only her teacher Kitano present in the classroom. Kitano leaves but is suddenly attacked by student Yoshitoki Kuninobu with a knife. Noriko hides the knife. Kitano later resigns after recovering from his wound.

A year later, Shuya's class makes a field trip at the end of their required educational years. On the return trip, the entire class is gassed on the coach and awaken in a large "briefing room" on a remote island. They are all wearing electronic collars. A military platoon enters led by Kitano, who is now working for the government. Kitano explains that the class has been chosen to participate in this year's Battle Royale, the result of the "BR Act". The class is forced to watch an orientation video, produced in the style of a music video show. The video explains that they have three days to kill each other until just one student remains. If the students defy the rules or attempt to escape, they will be killed by the detonation of their collars. The collars will also explode if the wearer enters one of the randomly placed "death zones", whose locations are changed at the beginning of each day. Kuninobu objects to the "game" and refuses to cooperate; Kitano immediately detonates his collar. Another student, Fumiyo Fujiyoshi, is also killed before the game begins. Each student is provided with a bag of food and water, plus one object that might be considered a weapon or a tool. Some items are more obviously useful than others (a shotgun, a pistol, a crossbow) while others will require ingenuity to be useful (a saucepan lid, a fork, a paper fan). The students are forced to leave the building one at a time with a sixty second interval between departures.

The terrifying first night sees several deaths, four of which are suicides. Exchange student Kazuo Kiriyama and Mitsuko Souma become the most dangerous players in the game, while another exchange student Shogo Kawada seems more merciful. Shuya and Kuninobu's girlfriend Noriko band together, Shuya promising to protect Noriko for Kuninobu's sake. Other students have more legitimate goals in the game: Shinji Mimura and his friends plot to hack into the military's computer systems and then bomb their base of operations; Hiroki Sugimaru searches for his best friend Takako Chigusa and his love interest Kayako Kotohiki. Chigusa runs into Kazushi Niida, who is sexually obsessed with her; they come to blows when he forces himself on her, and she stabs him to death. Chigusa is immediately shot by Mitsuko, and she dies in Sugimaru's arms. Kawada teams with Shuya and Noriko, and reveals that he won a previous Battle Royale at the cost of his girlfriend; he is now planning to avenge her. The trio are forced to separate when Kiriyama attacks, and Sugimaru rescues Shuya.

Shuya awakens in the island's lighthouse where Yukie Utsumi and the school's cheerleading squad are hiding out. Paranoid Yuko Sakaki, who believes that Shuya murdered a friend of hers, tries to poison Shuya's food. The poisoned food is mistakenly eaten by one of the girls, leading to mass panic and a bloody gunfight that only Yuko survives. Yuko realises the enormity of her paranoia and leaps to her death.

Shuya makes his way back to Noriko and Kawada, and they set out to find Mimura's group. Sugimaru tracks down Kotohiki, who panics and kills him. Kotohiki is then killed by Mitsuko. Kiriyama appears and fights with Mitsuko, gunning her down. Mimura's group finish their plans, but Kiriyama kills them. The bomb built by the group explodes, blinding Kiriyama and allowing Kawada to shoot him dead.

Throughout, Kitano and his soldiers track (via the electronic collars) the movements and deaths of the "players", and announce roll-calls of the dead via an island-wide PA system.

On the morning of the final day, Kawada takes Shuya and Noriko aside and stages their deaths. Seeing this, Kitano (believing Kawada to be the "winner") ends the game. He plans to kill Kawada anyway, and dismisses the troops. Shuya and Noriko appear: Kawada has hacked into the game system beforehand and disabled the tracking devices in the collars. Kitano unveils a homemade painting of the dead students with Noriko indicated as the winner. He confesses that he always thought of her as a daughter, after being rejected by his real daughter, Shiori. Shuya shoots Kitano, who takes a final phone call from Shiori as he dies. Shuya, Noriko and Kawada leave the island on a boat but Kawada dies from injuries gained while fighting Kiriyama. The film ends with Shuya and Noriko being declared fugitive criminals.

In the Hunger Games - there is no traditional "weapon" -- children are forced to fight and kill each other in exchange for FOOD.

Food is the weapon: people are starving, and as a "lesson to be learned"/punishment for a past uprising of the people against the state, each district is forced to choose (by lottery) one boy and one girl to send to the Hunger Games. Think "Survivor", or "Lord of the Flies" or "The Running Man" -- with the added feature of watching children (aged 10-17) fight each other to death like gladiators. The 'contestants' even enter the amphitheater (as in the Olympics opening ceremony) riding in chariots.

The 'reward' for the survivor (after everyone else is dead) is a year with all the food they and their family can eat. Hunger is the motivation, food is the 'reward' - but really, food (the witholding of food) is the weapon. Maybe Henry Kissinger was on the production payroll.

The thing I found most disturbing about the book (and the movie) is that there is no uprising: nobody refuses to participate in the game. I kept hoping that would happen; but the second book was basically a repeat of the first - when the plot continues the following year at another round of the Hunger Games. Still no uprising. Maybe it happens in the third book - I didn't read it.

Also, this book was written for "Young Adults" - teenagers. What is the message they want to send to this age group? Submit?

Could it be that Henry Kissinger took a lesson from Mao's 'success',
and wrote about using Food as a weapon in his
National Security Study Memorandum 200:
Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S. Security and Overseas Interests
?”

Eclipse of a Statesman
Why Dr. K's star has fallen
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/books/1999/9905.heilbrunn.eclipse.html
by Jacob Heilbrunn

... Kissinger and Nixon put much faith in Mao. Kissinger refers to him as "intellectually still vigorous" when he met with him in February 1973. But how intellectually vigorous was someone who, Kissinger reports, stated that "If the Soviet Union would throw its bombs and kill all those over 30 who are Chinese, that would solve the problem for us." Judging from the books and memoirs that have emerged from China in recent years, he was a sex-addicted, disease-ridden despot whose grasp on reality was tenuous at best. Missing from Kissinger's account is any sense of the enormity of Mao's crimes, of meeting someone who was prepared to sacrifice tens of millions in one fantastic industrial and agricultural scheme after another. All Kissinger can do is recount Mao's addled lucubrations about swallows flapping their wings in the great foreign policy storms to come. This is not exactly Churchill telling Stalin, in an allusion to freedom in Eastern Europe, that the eagle should let the small birds fly free.

Not surprisingly, Kissinger rushed to defend the Chinese regime after the Tiananmen Square massacre.
Any government, he said, would have swept away such protestors from its square.

Kissinger sees eye-to-eye with the Chinese.

"I have generally questioned the wisdom of seeking by explicit pressures to compel societies with vastly different backgrounds to adopt, in a matter of years and at early stages of their political evolution, the same standards and procedures it took centuries to grow in the West," concludes Kissinger.

Well, yes. But is urging the Chinese government not to imprison dissidents tantamount to asking it to turn into a democracy overnight? Recent events suggest that the Clinton administration's silence on human rights, coupled with free trade, has only led to a worsening of conditions inside the country. In following the Kissingerian formula, the United States has sold out human rights without getting anything in return.

Henry Kissinger's 1974 Plan for
Food Control Genocide

http://www.schillerinstitute.org/food_for_peace/kiss_nssm_jb_1995.html

This article appeared as part of a feature in the December 8, 1995 issue of Executive Intelligence Review, and was circuclated extensively by the Schiller Insitute Food for Peace Movement. It is reprinted here as part of the package: “Who Is Responsible for the World Food Shortage?”
Kissinger’s 1974 Plan for Food Control Genocide
by Joseph Brewda
Dec. 8, 1995

On Dec. 10, 1974, the U.S. National Security Council under Henry Kissinger completed a classified 200-page study, “National Security Study Memorandum 200: Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S. Security and Overseas Interests.” The study falsely claimed that population growth in the so-called Lesser Developed Countries (LDCs) was a grave threat to U.S. national security. Adopted as official policy in November 1975 by President Gerald Ford, NSSM 200 outlined a covert plan to reduce population growth in those countries through birth control, and also, implicitly, war and famine. Brent Scowcroft, who had by then replaced Kissinger as national security adviser (the same post Scowcroft was to hold in the Bush administration), was put in charge of implementing the plan. CIA Director George Bush was ordered to assist Scowcroft, as were the secretaries of state, treasury, defense, and agriculture.

The bogus arguments that Kissinger advanced were not original. One of his major sources was the Royal Commission on Population, which King George VI had created in 1944 “to consider what measures should be taken in the national interest to influence the future trend of population.” The commission found that Britain was gravely threatened by population growth in its colonies, since “a populous country has decided advantages over a sparsely-populated one for industrial production.” The combined effects of increasing population and industrialization in its colonies, it warned, “might be decisive in its effects on the prestige and influence of the West,” especially effecting “military strength and security.”

NSSM 200 similarly concluded that the United States was threatened by population growth in the former colonial sector. It paid special attention to 13 “key countries” in which the United States had a “special political and strategic interest”: India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Turkey, Nigeria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia. It claimed that population growth in those states was especially worrisome, since it would quickly increase their relative political, economic, and military strength.

For example, Nigeria: “Already the most populous country on the continent, with an estimated 55 million people in 1970, Nigeria's population by the end of this century is projected to number 135 million. This suggests a growing political and strategic role for Nigeria, at least in Africa.” Or Brazil: “Brazil clearly dominated the continent demographically.” The study warned of a “growing power status for Brazil in Latin America and on the world scene over the next 25 years.”

Food as a weapon

There were several measures that Kissinger advocated to deal with this alleged threat, most prominently, birth control and related population-reduction programs. He also warned that “population growth rates are likely to increase appreciably before they begin to decline,” even if such measures were adopted.

A second measure was curtailing food supplies to targetted states, in part to force compliance with birth control policies: “There is also some established precedent for taking account of family planning performance in appraisal of assistance requirements by AID [U.S. Agency for International Development] and consultative groups. Since population growth is a major determinant of increases in food demand, allocation of scarce PL 480 resources should take account of what steps a country is taking in population control as well as food production. In these sensitive relations, however, it is important in style as well as substance to avoid the appearance of coercion.”

“Mandatory programs may be needed and we should be considering these possibilities now,” the document continued, adding, “Would food be considered an instrument of national power? ... Is the U.S. prepared to accept food rationing to help people who can't/won't control their population growth?”

Kissinger also predicted a return of famines that could make exclusive reliance on birth control programs unnecessary. “Rapid population growth and lagging food production in developing countries, together with the sharp deterioration in the global food situation in 1972 and 1973, have raised serious concerns about the ability of the world to feed itself adequately over the next quarter of century and beyond,” he reported.

The cause of that coming food deficit was not natural, however, but was a result of western financial policy: “Capital investments for irrigation and infrastucture and the organization requirements for continuous improvements in agricultural yields may be beyond the financial and administrative capacity of many LDCs. For some of the areas under heaviest population pressure, there is little or no prospect for foreign exchange earnings to cover constantly increasingly imports of food.”

“It is questionable,” Kissinger gloated, “whether aid donor countries will be prepared to provide the sort of massive food aid called for by the import projections on a long-term continuing basis.” Consequently, “large-scale famine of a kind not experienced for several decades—a kind the world thought had been permanently banished,” was foreseeable—famine, which has indeed come to pass.

NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL
WASHINGTON, D.C. 20506
April 24, 1974

National Security Study Memorandum 200
http://wlym.com/text/NSSM200.htm
--------------------------------------

TO:    The Secretary of Defense
         The Secretary of Agriculture
         The Director of Central Intelligence
         The Deputy Secretary of State
         Administrator, Agency for International Development

SUBJECT: Implications of Worldwide Population Growth for U.S.
              Security and Overseas Interests

The President has directed a study of the impact of world population growth on U.S. security and overseas interests.  The study should look
forward at least until the year 2000, and use several alternative reasonable projections of population growth.

In terms of each projection, the study should assess:

  - the corresponding pace of development, especially in poorer countries;

  - the demand for US exports, especially of food, and the trade problems the US may face arising from competition for resources;  and

  - the likelihood that population growth or imbalances will produce disruptive foreign policies and international instability.

The study should focus on the international political and economic implications of population growth rather than its ecological, sociological or other aspects.

The study would then offer possible courses of action for the United States in dealing with population matters abroad, particularly in developing countries, with special attention to these questions:

  - What, if any, new initiatives by the United States are needed to focus international attention on the population problem?

  - Can technological innovations or development reduce growth or ameliorate its effects?

  - Could the United States improve its assistance in the population field and if so, in what form and through which agencies -- bilateral, multilateral, private?

The study should take into account the President's concern that population policy is a human concern intimately related to the dignity of the individual and the objective of the United States is to work closely with others, rather than seek to impose our views on others.

The President has directed that the study be accomplished by the NSC Under Secretaries Committee.  The Chairman, Under Secretaries Committee, is requested to forward the study together with the Committee's action recommendations no later than May 29, 1974 for consideration by the President.

HENRY A. KISSINGER

Providing or withholding food during times of conflict can be just as potent a weapon as the guns, bombs, and explosives of opposing armies. Control of food supplies during war is important because wars disrupt the seasonal pattern of growing crops, displace farming populations, and prevent the transport of food within the area of conflict. The economic costs of war may so impoverish citizens and local governments that they are unable to purchase or distribute needed food, even if it is available. A major focus of the Marshall Plan for Europe after the Second World War was to prevent the kind of starvation and social upheaval that had followed World War I. More recent relief efforts have focused on distributing food to refugees of many regional conflicts, where imposed famine was part of the combatants' military strategy in countries like Liberia, Mozambique, Somalia, and Sudan.

Withholding Food

Food can be withheld by preventing it from being grown and harvested, by destroying it after harvest, by preventing it from being shipped to where it is needed, or by contaminating it and rendering it unfit for consumption. Indigenous farming populations have been scattered or exiled from their native lands by conquering armies to make room for their own colonists who would subjugate and establish their hegemony over the local inhabitants, and provide food and warriors for future campaigns. Ancient armies have "salted the earth" and destroyed irrigation systems to make an area unsuitable for growing crops. In the culmination of the Punic Wars with Carthage in the third and second centuries B.C.E., Rome defeated the armies of Hannibal, destroyed his empire, and ploughed the land with salt to make it infertile. The Roman practice of contaminating water supplies by dumping dead animals into wells has continued into recent history as demonstrated by an instance during the American Civil War when Confederate solders fouled the water supplies of Union forces with dead animals. There are no instances of widespread contamination of food during war in the modern era, perhaps because of the universal condemnation of such practices by all civilized nations. Sieges of fortified positions have been used since time immemorial to starve, demoralize, and physically weaken the ensconced combatants. Pictorial representations in Egypt depict sieges over 4,000 years ago, while the Iliad of Homer describes the siege of Troy by the Greeks over 3,000 years ago. It, like many of the numerous sieges that followed, ended not through force of arms, but through deception and treachery. The Spartan siege of Athens that ended the Peloponnesian Wars (431–404 B.C.E.) was ineffective as long as Athens could obtain food by sea. Only by allying themselves with Persia and destroying the Athenian navy were the Spartans able to starve them into submission. A similar maritime strategy was employed, but in reverse, by Emperor Leo III of the Eastern Roman Empire, whose forces destroyed the Arab navy, maintained food imports, and broke their siege of Constantinople in 717. Sieges often do not work because the besieged forces have stored or can obtain enough food for the duration, or because the invading forces cannot obtain enough food or maintain their supply lines because of the surrounding hostile population.

A continuing problem with siege warfare was that the attackers could run out of food or succumb to disease in their unhealthy encampments. For this reason, the parties of siege warfare in the medieval West often agreed on a time limit, after which the besieged forces could leave without penalty. Such civility was rare even then, and certainly has not persisted to modern times of total war. Parisians were reduced to eating rats during the siege that ended the 1870 Franco-Prussian War, and over a million Russians starved to death during the 500-day siege of Leningrad in World War II; more civilians died in Leningrad than in the bombings of Hamburg, Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki combined.

In modern times, sieges have expanded and evolved into embargos of critical war materials (for example, food, medicine, oil, strategic metals, technology, etc.) by nation-states. England imposed an embargo by sea for that area of Europe occupied by Napoleon, and Germany tried to embargo food and war materials to England and Russia by the United States in the Second World War. While food is now usually not embargoed for humanitarian reasons by the major powers, economic sanctions remain an implement of international policy and genocidal starvation as accepted strategy in some regional conflicts.

Scorched Earth

Many countries have adopted a "scorched earth" policy (destroying anything that might be of use to an invading enemy) to prevent an invading army from living off the land. Both attackers and defenders in conventional wars and guerrilla struggles have used this strategy. During the U.S. Civil War, General William T. Sherman brought "total war" to the heart of the Confederacy by his infamous "March to the Sea" across Georgia and South Carolina, a scorched earth policy that is still debated as being barbarous or sound military strategy. The British used a scorched earth policy during their war with the Boers in South Africa, and the French conquest of Algeria (1830 to 1844) used it to starve the natives into submission. Unless ruthlessly enforced, it is often difficult to convince people to destroy all they have in advance of an invading force. The conquest of Gaul by Julius Caesar was almost prevented by this tactic, but Vercingetorix's guerrilla campaigns were ineffective because he could not persuade his countrymen to adopt this painful policy wholeheartedly.

Russia very effectively used a scorched earth policy during its invasion by Swedish armies in 1709, Napoleon's armies in 1812, and Hitler's armies in 1941. Because the Russians removed most of the food and crops in advance, Napoleon's half-a-million-man army could not live off the land as they had in previous campaigns. Despite being able to capture Moscow, they were too emaciated to hold it and had to retreat. The inability to find food locally also created severe problems for the German military in World War II, which was trying to feed three million soldiers. Forests, stores and transports were set afire; all grain and millions of cattle were shipped from the Ukraine to Russia, leaving nothing for the advancing German armies. However, nothing was left for the peasants who were equally bereft of food and shelter. As the Germans retreated towards Berlin, they too implemented a scorched earth policy to slow the pursuing Russian army.

Submit?

How much of an uproar was there over the bread and circuses in the Roman Colisseum? How many centuries before those games were abandoned? Today, where is our revolution, over the one million examples of legalized child killing annually going on since Roe v Wade? The truth is submission to tyranny and state-sponsored death is the rule, uprising is the exception.

I just saw the film this afternoon and one would have to be an idiot to believe that the future described is a world they would want to live in.  This film, "Brave New World" and "1984" and other dystopian future works are about "avoiding" this kind of scenario not advocating it.

If I were a multi-billionaire, instead of hiring a producer and director to make yet another post-apocalyptic disaster film, I'd have them make a film that implants images of everyone at the top of the NWO power pyramid -- the parasitic Eight Families and the high-level minions who lovingly serve them -- being arrested and hauled off to prison:

Haven't read the books or seen the movie, but it sounds a lot like The Long Walk by Stephen King(writing as Richard Bachman).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_Walk

Quote
The Long Walk is a novel by Stephen King published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman in 1979 as a paperback original. It was collected in 1985 in the hardcover omnibus The Bachman Books, and has seen several reprints since, as both paperback & hardback. Set in a dystopian present, the plot revolves around the contestants of a gruelling walking contest, held annually by a somewhat despotic and totalitarian version of the United States of America. In 2000 the American Library Association listed The Long Walk as one of the 100 best books for teenage readers published between 1966 and 2000.[1] Stephen King has revealed that it is the first novel he ever wrote, begun eight years before Carrie was published in 1974, when he was a freshman at the University of Maine in 1966-67.

Nonsense.  Only if you are weak does that have any effect.  BTW, have you actually seen the film?

Oh sure, I know they produce product where the 'good guys' are fighting
against the 'inevitable' ... that is a big part of 'predictive programming'.

Alex and crew are holding out a desperate hope that the authoress (and producers?) is
a listener and this IS meant as a warning ... VERY UNLIKELY! This is blood-thirsty
NWO propaganda clearly meant to introduce the minds of the unwitting public
to what they (NWO) envision just around the corner ... grist for the real terror mill.

Not only do they manufacture these visions of the future and thus take the zeitgeist
anywhere they like, they also manufacture from whole-cloth the entire historical
narrative ... it is what we used to call 'self-fulfilling prophecy'.

The authors  of practically all the children's/dystopian/Satanic crap out there are
NWO shadow people ... people posing as creators of this stuff, paid to imitate
authors ... they go from Mall-to-Mall, School-to-School, Morning Show-to-Morning Show,
mouth-pieces for the etch-a-sketch, create-a-world nightmare.

Famine: Behold the Black Rider of Goldman Sachs and the Pale Rider of Apocalypse

Summary: Famine is a ticking time bomb now. Worldwide starvation is increasing, so that today approximately 15% of the world´s population go to bed hungry. There are many explanations like climatic changes not due to a non-existent global warming. There is a growing suspicion that the U.S.´ and Russia´s HAARP facilities are in play - as declared in the U.S. Airforce study released in 1996, “Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025” - including using HAARP.

Additionally,  particularly in Africa, widespread land purchase/leasing by foreign states and private speculators (Rothschild, George Soros) abroad is taking place, native farmers being displaced from their century-old family farms – and the agricultural products are exported to the markets with the highest prices and the landbuyers´countries. Worldwide, bees are dying because of virus or pesticides. Although it has not yet reduced food production significantly it is dangerous, because 1/3 of global food production depends on pollination. Moreover bleak outlook for the coming harvest and a weak dollar raise food prices. Studies show that it is not production that is causing problems so far.

With the available technology, 9 billion people can be fed, if technology is used. No, the problem is that food prices, especially for wheat and corn, have doubled over the last 1/2 year. This has led to rebellions in North Africa - and Israel, too, is now seeing discontent in her population. So both there and in the Arab countries, governments try to keep food prices down, what they cannot afford for long. With poor people, a strong sense of injustice done by dictatorial governments is emerging - apparently vigorously supported by the USA/CIA and in Egypt by the Muslim Brotherhood, too. The U.S. Council on Foreign Relations puts it this way: We need world government to control food supply, Henry Kissinger´s old food weapon (1974).

But who is the real force behind the rising food prices? The Rothschild Bank, Goldman Sachs, who helped Greece out with large loans in return for its main sources of income + 300 million dollars to the bank so that Greece could join the euro on the sly, had the brilliant idea to buy futures on huge quantities of wheat at 3 -6 dollars a bushel. And they  continued to buy and prolong futures so that they and their accomplices were sitting on 64% of wheat futures in the U.S. They waited while the ensuing demand shock in this artificial scarcity market raised the price to $ 25 per bushel.

Furthermore, they introduced “replication”: They invested their thus acquired huge gains in more wheat, where they can hold a quantity of wheat at e.g. $ 100 by only investing $ 5. With the remaining $ 95 they can act similarly. These ruthless illuminati have thus earned trillions of dollars on the world’s poor being unable to afford to buy staple grains. They are believed to have added a further 250 million to the number of the starving.

The Illluminati core are devout followers of the Talmud, the  book of the Pharisees, that calls on Jews to deceive and kill Christians and other goyim - like the Koran, which owes much to the Talmud. Therefore, these self-appointed rulers of the world together with their bought stooges have an extensive depopulation programme. It is against this backdrop that famine has to be seen - as well as being a means of personal enrichment, agitation and revolutions, which “can only be stopped by a world government.”

Revelation 6:5 “And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny;……6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger and with death”.

The American Dream: Global weather patterns have gone haywire over the past 12 months, and this is putting immense pressure on a global food system that was already on the verge of a major breakdown. Food stockpiles all over the world are disturbingly low. Right now a desperate scramble for food is beginning.   Prices for staples such as wheat, corn and soybeans are absolutely soaring, and the UN is projecting that they will continue to rise rapidly throughout 2011.

#1 According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. corn reserves will drop to a 15 year low by the end of 2011.

#2 The United Nations says that the global price of food hit another new all-time high in the month of January.

#3 The price of corn has doubled in the past six months.

#4 The price of wheat has roughly doubled since the middle of 2010.

#5 According to Forbes, the price of soybeans is up about 50% since last June.

#6 The United Nations is projecting that the global price of food will increase by another 30 percent by the end of 2011.

#7 Due to all of the unprecedented flooding, the winter wheat crop in Australia has been absolutely devastated.

#8 This winter Brazil was hit by some of the worst flooding that nation has ever seen.  This has substantially hampered food production in that country.

#9 Russia, one of the largest wheat producers on the entire globe, is still feeling the effects of last summer’s scorching temperatures.  In fact, Russia is actually importing wheat this winter to sustain its cattle herds.

#10 China is busy preparing for a “severe, long-lasting drought” that is projected to have a huge impact on several provinces.  In fact, Chinese state media says that the eastern province of Shandong is dealing with the worst drought it has seen in 200 years.

#11 It appears that Chinese imports of corn will be about 9 times larger than the U.S. Department of Agriculture originally projected them to be for 2011. #12 Approximately 1 billion people around the world go to bed hungry each night.

#13 Somewhere in the world someone starves to death every 3.6 seconds, and 75 percent of those are children under the age of five. #14 As food has become increasingly scarce around the world, many companies have started using whatever kinds of “fillers” that they can think of in their “food” products.  For example, Raw Story is reporting that some companies in China have actually been mass producing “fake rice” that is made partly of plastic.  According to one Chinese Restaurant Association official, eating three bowls of this fake rice is the equivalent of consuming an entire plastic bag.

http://www.kopp-online.com/hintergruende/geostrategie/ellen-brown/pulverfass-aegypten-wie-banken-und-investoren-die-welt-in-den-hunger-treiben.html;jsessionid=0F54A030EC957953E73857495513DA50]Ellen Brown, Kopp Verlag 8, Febr. 2011:  According to the Associated Press about 40 per cent of people in Egypt live at the the World Bank defined poverty limit of less than two dollars a day. According to estimates by analysts, the inflation of food prices in Egypt is currently at an unsustainable 17 percent a year. In poorer countries, people have to spend 60 to 80 percent of their income on food, as compared with in only 10 to 20 percent in developed countries. If the price of a gallon (about four liters) of milk or a loaf of bread for the Americans goes up by about a dollar, then such an increase for people in Egypt and other countries means starvation.

Consequences of the developing famine

A: Time and again it has been postulated that the North African revolutions are due to high food prices and hunger.

B: ANSAmed 10 Febr. 2011: Faced with growing popular discontent over rises in the cost of living and with a general strike on the horizon, Israel’s Premier Benyamin Netanyahu has today announced measures to soften the impact of price increases on low and medium-income households. The cost of living and of purchasing power, have been seriously hit over past months by price increases of 10% (for bread) to as much as 134% (for water).

C: ANSAmed 7 Febr. 2011:  The governors of the Arab countries have started to launch several measures in an attempt to absorb the anger of the people. For example, they have increased their expenditure to contain energy and food prices. The leaders have little room for manoeuvre due to the deficit of the national budgets and the negative forecasts on the Arab markets.

D: The Council on Foreign Relations 4 Febr. 2011: Food prices are skyrocketing across the world, and last month, they peaked to the highest levels since the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization began indexing them in 1990. In the Middle East, wheat prices are playing a role in the ongoing unrest, particularly in Egypt, the world’s largest wheat importer. Laurie Garrett, CFR’s senior fellow for global health, says the rising prices of staple grains in the region are adding to a “real sense of anger and injustice.” The food price crisis, she says, is "a destabilizing moment in terms of global governance". In early 2008, key rice-producing countries, particularly in Southeast Asia, [decided] to hoard their supplies, not share in the global marketplace.

So, 1 bn People, i.e. 15% of mankind, is starving. Why are food prices increasing drastically?

1. Climate: Above climate
is said to be putting immense pressure on a global food system that was already on the verge of a major breakdown. Drought in China and Russia, flooding in Australia as many times before – not due to inexistent global warming and here – but it may be due to HAARP weapon activity (video), and here, as maintained by Russian scientists, while China accused the US of causing a big HAARP earthquake in China. In fact, the US Airforce has issued a study, “Weather as a Force Multiplier: Owning the Weather in 2025” – by means of HAARP.

This is what The Press 21 Jan. 2011 writes: “The true purpose of HAARP is to create new weapons of mass destruction “in order to destabilize environmental and agricultural systems in targeted countries.” This video shows how the sky looked over Sichuan for 30 min. before the great eartquake there in 2008  - an electromagnetic phenomenon, which may also emanate from the ground. In Mexico 80–100 % of rice and vegetable crops have been lost due to big freeze – making prices skyrocket, also in the US.

2. Farmland speculation: As previously described on this blog extensive expropriation of farmland abroad by states like Libya, China, Saudi Arabia etc. as well as by speculators like the Rothschilds and their agent, George Soros, is taking place.

3. Bees are dying. Almost a third of global farm output depends on animal pollination, largely by honey bees (The Telegraph 6 Febr. 2011). The agri-business lender Rabobank said the numbers of US bee colonies failing to survive each winter has risen to 30pc to 35pc from an historical norm of 10pc. The rate is 20pc or higher in much of Europe, and the same pattern is emerging in Latin America and Asia. It is unknown whether this is due to a virus or pesticides. So far agricultural production has not been severely affected.

4. Worsening of the outlook for crops in key producing countries - FAO Nov. 2010. Another leading factor has been the weakening of the United States Dollar (US Dollar) from mid-September, which continues to sustain the prices of nearly all agricultural and non-agricultural traded commodities. As FAO´s graphs show, the problem is not decreasing production - but increasing prices.

5. Protest_bread_263x180The psychological factor The Council on Foreign relations 31 Jan. 2011: “If politicians simply embrace the efficiency of the market, public feelings of injustice may cause more trouble than the volatile price of food itself. For the most part, the planet’s 700 million-900 million hungry people have suffered in silence.”
Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, warned of mass starvation and other “dire consequences” if food prices were allowed to rise too high: “As we know . . . those kinds of questions sometimes end in war.”
Moral outrage is a common theme in the history of food riots.

How Goldman Sachs´/ Rothschild´s irresponsible speculations drove wheat prices up by 500%
Ellen Brown, Kopp Verlag 8, Febr. 2011: In a revealing article in Harper’s Magazine from July 2010, Frederick Kaufman wrote in an article: “The food bubble: How Wall Street was able to unpunished drive Millions into starvation”:   “In the year 1991 Goldman Sachs decided that our daily bread presented an excellent investment…

Kaufman declared this innovation on 16 July in an interview on the U.S. radio program Democracy Now:
1. With Goldman  … the idea of the Commodity Index Fund was born, so they were actually able to accumulate tremendous amounts of cash for themselves … Instead of buy or sell orders, they simply began a. to buy, buy, buy wheat  and to prolong futures into new futures. They accumulated this unprecedented mountain of long futures for wheat. This accumulation led to  b. a “demand shock” in the markets. … In this case, Goldman and other banks had created this completely artificial demand for wheat, which drove prices up. Hard Red wheat is normally traded at 3 to 6 dollars per bushel. The price rose to 25 dollars a bushel … Paradoxically, 2008 was the year with the biggest wheat harvest in history …

2. The other monstrosity is…”Replication” … Let’s suppose, you wished me to invest for you at the wheat market. You give me 100 dollars into my hand … I would be to invest these 100 dollars in the wheat market. But that’s not necessary. It is sufficient if I invest $ 5 … With these five dollars I can hold a 100-dollar position. So now I still have 95 of your dollars … Goldman and all the other banks have invested hundreds of billions of dollars in very conservative investments … and now that they have for hundreds of billions of T-Bills, they can invest them into trillions of dollars … Then they take this trillion of dollars, they pass on to their day traders and tell them: ‘Come on, guys. Make it the most lucrative business. So, while billions of people are Blankenfein-goldman-sachsstarving, they are using the money to generate billions of dollars for their own accounts.”

Right, Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman Sachs.  Texe Marr 24 Sept. 2009: The official records of ownership show that, while much of Goldman Sachs´ stock is owned by the public, a controlling share is in private hands, held by a consortium, or pool, of just 221 persons. The chief owner, however, is Lord Jacob Rothschild, and he and other Rothschild family members dominate the consortium which reigns over the planet’s  Money Power. Goldman Sachs is its nucleus and tornadic eye and  Mr. Blankfein is the servant and deputy of Lord Rothschild, the fourth Baron of the Rothschild Dynasty. Mr. Blankfein: “I’m doing God’s work.”

Indeed, he is doing “God’s Work;” that is, if we agree with the famed nineteenth century German Jewish writer and philosopher Heinrich Heine, who wryly observed, “Money is the god of the Jews, and Rothschild is his prophet.”

Other researchers share this explanation for the food crisis. In an article written in July 2010, entitled “How Goldman Sachs staked on forcing the world’s poor into famine - and won,” the journalist Johann Hari observed:
“In late 2006, the worldwide rise in food prices began. A year later, the price of wheat had increased by 80%, the price of corn by 90%, and the price of rice by 320 %. In more than 30 countries there were food riots, 200 million people were threatened by malnutrition or even starvation. Suddenly, in the spring of 2008, prices for foods fell back to the previous level as if by magic. Jean Ziegler, UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, spoke of a “silent mass murder”.

Some economists say the increases are due to the growing demand of the middle class in China and India and the increasing use of corn for ethanol production. But according to Prof. Jayati Ghosh of The Center for Economic Studies in New Delhi, the demand from these countries during the same period has declined by as much as 3%. The International Grain Council said the world’s wheat production has increased, while prices have been increased. Acc. to  Kaufman  the food bubble has increased the number of hungry people in the world  by 250 million.

US Securities and Exchange Commission 16 April 2010 — The SEC  today charged Goldman, Sachs & Co. and one of its vice presidents for defrauding investors by misstating and omitting key facts about a financial product tied to subprime mortgages as the U.S. housing market was beginning to falter. The SEC alleges that Goldman Sachs structured and marketed a synthetic collateralized debt obligation (CDO). Goldman Sachs failed to disclose to investors vital information about the CDO. “The product was new and complex but the deception and conflicts are old and simple.” Investors …are alleged to have lost more than $1 billion.

But also the drive for one world governance behind world famine

The Council on Foreign Relations 31 Jan. 2011:  In the absence of viable forms of global governance in food and drug manufacture and trade, the risk to public safety is rising all over the world.

So is overpopulation of the planet the problem?

The Independent 18 Jan. 2011 Dominic Lawson: The Institution of Mechanical Engineers published “Population: One Planet, Too Many People?”

The institution answered its own question in the negative. As the report’s lead author, Dr Tim Fox, pointed out: “We can meet the challenge of feeding a planet of 9 billion people through the application of existing technologies”. For example, Dr Fox pointed out, in Africa, no less than half the food produced is destroyed before it reaches its local marketplace: with refrigeration and good roads, the developing world could avoid this horrendous waste.

This year National Geographic magazine is making population its theme. It quoted Hania Zlotnik, the director of the UN’s Population Division, saying: “We still don’t understand why fertility has gone down so fast in so many societies, so many cultures and religions. At this moment, much as I want to say there’s still a problem of high fertility rates, it’s only about 16 per cent of the world’s population, mostly in Africa.”

The most fashionable of all arguments for some sort of global anti-natalist legislation comes in the form of professed concern for the atmosphere – too many people produce too much CO2, Talmud-hate2thus damaging the planet via climate change. Yet Joel Cohen, the professor of populations at Columbia University’s Earth Institute, told National Geographic: “Those who say the whole problem is population are wrong. Population is not even the dominant factor.”

Goldman Sachs’ merits are many and long. A year ago, it emerged that the bank had robbed Greece of huge sums in return for a credit that secured the actually insolvent Greece a fraudulent entry into the euro zone in return for the Greek government’s important income sources + 300 million dollars for the bank! How do they get away with it? “You simply hire the best people,” as the say at Carnegie´s – and that includes former US Treasurer and former Goldman Sachs boss, Hank Paulson, who enriched his old firm and Rothschild with a bail-out of 13 bn US taxpayer dollars for its fraud! Ruthless Illuminati are sacrificing mankind to grab money and power for their one world government and here – at the same time pursuing their global  depopulation programme and here and here and here.

And mankind puts up with these 6.000 superrich people and their minions, obey their rotten morals, slave for them, die for them in Afghanistan, Iraq etc. That is the real misery of mankind.  When will the start to comply with their own slogan: Order out of chaos? Hardly until they have created total chaos – then to construct their Agenda 21 alias Orwells 1984 for the few survivors.

Why do the Illuminati treat mankind in such a cruel manner? The Illuminati (the  Rothschild dynasty and Adam Weishaupt) are based on the Talmud, the book of the Pharisees. So, in fact today´s core Illuminates are todays Pharisees. What the Illuminati are doing is pious Pharisaism: Facts are Facts II: Kidduschim (68a) Christians like the people of an ass. Makkoth (7b) Innocent of murder if intent to kill Christian. Baba Kama (113b) It is permitted to deceive Christians. Iore Dea (157, 2) H May deceive all who believe Christian tenets. Zohar (I, 160a) Jews must always try to deceive Christians. Iore Dea (159, 1) Usury permitted now for any reason to Christians. Choschen Ham (388, 15) Kill all who give Jews’ money to Christians Zohar (I, 25a) Christians to be destroyed as idolaters. Sepher Or Israel 177b If Jew kills Christian he commits no sin. Zohar (I, 28b, 39a) High place in heaven for all who kill idolaters etc.

Do you think there are similarities to the Koran? No wonder. Muhammad learned much from the 3 pious Jewish tribes in Medina, before he expelled, enslaved and killed them.

... it's about implanting the imagery and ideas into your consciousness.

Could not the same be said of other books? Perhaps 1984? I guess 1984 was really a PsyOp. Right? I wonder how many people on this board are willing to view the hunger games using the same lens through which they read 1984.  Not many, I'm guessing.

Bottom Line:  If you haven't even read the novel, you truly have no business making PsyOp claims.  Read the novel. It also wouldn't hurt to hear what the actual author has to say about her own novel. Most importantly, don't engage in hypocrisy. Don't have a double standard. Don't be cognitively lazy. It will become habit.

Could not the same be said of other books?

Not just books, but TV, movies, etc.

Perhaps 1984?

Actually, 1984 exposed the true nature of the planned distopia to come.

Quote
I guess 1984 was really a PsyOp. Right?

It was a pschological attack on the establishment by exposing their plans back in 1948.

No matter what filter you are using, watching the Hunger Games is a willful submission to NWO conditioning and subliminal programming while reading 1984 exposes not only the distopia being planned (and now nearly fully operational) but also the simple wa to defeat it.

Bottom Line:  If you haven't even read the novel, you truly have no business making PsyOp claims.

Bottom Line: If you haven't read the contents of this thread, you have no business mockingbirding such pro-NWO false narratives like: 'they did not actually read the book' or 'there cannot possibly be that many pschological operations against the American people'.

Read the novel. It also wouldn't hurt to hear what the actual author has to say about her own novel.

You do realize that George Orwell / Eric Blair was MURDERED for publishing 1984 and 'The Hunger Games' has been given over $100 Billion in psychological operations to make sure that every child on the planet sees this movie often and assimilates with the story, the characters, and the foregone conclusion depicted. The Bilderberg meme/noosphere distribution fundraising operatives have spent more time and energy in creating psyops to ensure that this movie becomes the foundational film for children to develop into as a 'World View'. This is coincidently the exact type of conditioning for 6-13 year olds that psycho Nazi from hell Jane Lute has promoted in speeches all over the world. Walk in any mall, go into any major department store. There are literally entire shelves filled with 'The Hunger Games' trinkets as if it was the new Hanna Montana movement. It is also targeted for children. I mean really, how is it possible to be this perverted with simple constructs of logical reasoning. THEY ARE GLAMORIZING A WORLD WHERE CHILDREN ARE STARVED TO DEATH AND MUST MURDER EACH OTHER SO THEY CAN EAT. THEY ARE NOT SHOWING HOW DISTURBING THIS FUTURE IS, THEY ARE NOT EVEN SATIRIZING IT. THEY ARE GLAMORIZING IT, THEY ARE RATIONALIZING IT, THEY ARE MAKING IT DIGESTABLE, ACCEPTABLE, AND EVEN SUGGEST THAT THERE ARE VAST BENEFITS TO SUCH A FUTURE.

Quote
Most importantly, don't engage in hypocrisy.

Damn straight, and the hypocricy of claiming that people are ignorant by posting on a thread that you obviously have only a shallow understanding of is massive.

Cognitively lazy...very well put!

“The Hunger Games”: A Glimpse at the New World Order?
http://vigilantcitizen.com/moviesandtv/the-hunger-games-a-glimpse-at-the-new-world-order/

By VC | April 5th, 2012 | Category: Movies and TV

The hit movie “The Hunger Games” takes place in a dystopian future where the poor and wretched masses live under the high tech tyranny of a wealthy elite. Is the movie depicting the kind of society the elite is trying to establish for the New World Order? We’ll look at characteristics of the world presented in “The Hunger Games” and how they relate to plans for a New World Order.

Pushed by a gigantic marketing campaign, The Hunger Games did not take long to become a world-wide sensation, especially among teenagers and young adults. Sometimes referred to as the new Twilight, The Hunger Games has similar components to the previous book-to-movie craze (i.e. a young girl torn between two guys) but takes place in a very different context.

Set in a dystopian future (why is the future always “dystopian”?), The Hunger Games paints a rather grim picture of the world of tomorrow, whether it be from a social, economical or political point of view. In short, it is a big-brotherish nightmare where a rich elite thrives on the backs of a starving population. Meanwhile, the perversity and voyeurism of mass media is taken to absurd levels and is used by the government as a glue to keep its unjust social order intact. Is The Hunger Games giving teenagers a glimpse of a not-too-distant future? It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see the elite are trying to take the world in that direction. Is the author Suzanne Collins communicating a strong anti-NWO message to the youth by showing its dangers or is it getting the youth used to the idea? Let’s look at the fictional, yet possible, future world of The Hunger Games.

Note: This article is about the movie and not the book series. The movie has been formatted in a different way and conveys a slightly different message.

The NWO for Teenagers

The Hunger Games takes place in a context that is strikingly on-par with descriptions of the New World Order as planned by today’s global elite. One of the main characteristics of the New World Order is the dissolving of regular nation-states to form a single world government to be ruled by a central power. In The Hunger Games, this concept is fully represented as the action takes place in Panem, a totalitarian nation that encompasses the entire North-American territory. The United States and Canada have therefore merged into a single entity, a step that many predict that will happen before the full-on creation of the NWO.

The President of Panem addressing the Nation.

In Panem, the concepts of democracy and freedom have disappeared from America to be replaced by a high-tech dictatorship based on surveillance, monitoring, mass-media indoctrination, police oppression and a radical division of social classes. The vast majority of the citizens of Panem live in third-world country conditions and are constantly subjected poverty, famine and sickness. These difficult living conditions are apparently the result of a devastating event that engendered the complete economic collapse of North America. In District 12, home of the hero Katniss Everdeen, the locals live in conditions similar to the pre-industrial era where families of coal miners lived makeshift in shacks and eat rodents as meals.

While the masses look as if they are living in the 1800s, they are nevertheless subjugated to the high-tech rule of the Capitol, which uses technology to monitor, control and indoctrinate the masses. Surveillance cameras, RFID chips and 3D holograms are abundantly used by the government to manipulate the will of a weak and uneducated population (although there are signs of solidarity and rebelliousness among the peasants). To preserve the fragile social order, the Capitol relies on a massive police force that is always ready repress any kind of uprising. The workers are often rounded up in civilian camps where they are shown state-sponsored propaganda videos. Panem is therefore a high-tech police state ruled by a powerful elite that seeks to keep the masses in poverty and subjugation. As we’ve seen in previous articles on this site, all of these concepts are also thoroughly represented in other forms of media as there appears to be a conscious effort to normalize the ideas of a high-tech police state as the only normal evolution of the current political system.

Living in sharp contrast to the proletariat, the elite in The Hunger Games inhabits the glistening Capitol city and indulges in all sorts of extravagances and fashion trends. This upper-echelon of society perceives the rest of the population as an inferior race to be ridiculed, tamed and controlled. All valuable resources have been vacuumed from the people living in the districts to profit the Capitol, creating a clear and insurmountable divide between Regular People and The Elite. The concept of an opulent elite ruling over the dumbed-down and impoverished masses (thus making them easily manageable) is an important aspect of the New World Order and it is clearly depicted in The Hunger Games. The government’s reliance on high-tech surveillance and mass media to keep the population in check is something we are already seeing and, if we keep going in that direction, the world of The Hunger Games will soon become reality. There is another concept important to the occult elite that is at the heart of The Hunger Games, however: Blood sacrifices to strike fear and gain power.

Blood Sacrifices for the Elite

Katniss is selected as tribute of her district.

The government of Panem created the Hunger Games in order to remind the masses of the “great treason” they have committed by engaging in a rebellion. As punishment for their insubordination, the twelve districts of Panem must offer to the Capitol one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to be part of The Hunger Games. The teenagers must fight to the death in an outdoor arena in a Roman Gladiator-like event that is televised across the nation. The rules of the Games reflect the elite’s contempt and total lack of respect for the masses. The name of the Games itself is a reminder of the state of perpetual starvation the lower class is purposely kept in by the rulers in order to better control it.

The boys and girls that are selected to take part in The Hunger Games are called “tributes”, a term that usually describes a payment rendered by a vassal to his lord and thus even reflects the servitude of the mass to its rulers. Since time immemorial, blood sacrifices were considered to be the highest form of “tribute” to gods and, on an occult level, were said to wield the most potent power to be tapped by rulers and sorcerers. The same way ancient Carthaginians sacrificed infants to the god Moloch, inhabitants of Panem sacrifice their children to the Capitol. The Hunger Games are therefore a modern version of these ancient rituals that the masses had to participate in to avoid the wrath of their superiors. The entire nation of Panem is forced to watch the sacrificial ritual that takes place in the Capitol, stirring up fear, anger and blood lust within them, amplifying the power of the ritual. We’ve seen in previous articles that the deaths of specific people (Whitney Houston, Heath Ledger, Amy Winehouse) become such a media event that they are, in fact, mega-rituals that entire nations participate in. The Hunger Games reflect this concept of highly publicized mega-rituals.

"Tributes" for The Hunger Games become the property of the state
and are revoked of all their rights.

In The Hunger Games, the ritualistic death of young people chosen from the mass is sold as a sporting event, a nation-wide celebration that is packaged as a reality show. Not only do the poor people participate in these demeaning events, they even cheer for their favorites. Why do they accept all of this? One of the reasons is that mass media can get people to accept anything … if it is entertaining.

Appealing to the Basest Instincts

The games are broadcast to the nation in the form of a reality-show, complete with TV hosts who analyze the action, interview the tributes and judge their performance. The tributes are so indoctrinated in this culture that they readily accept the rules of the game and turn are fully willing to start killing to win the Games. The masses also actively participate in the event, cheering for their district’s representatives, even though the entire event celebrates the sacrifice of their own. This reflects a sad but true fact concerning mass media: Any kind of message can reach people if it manages to capture their attention. There are two things that automatically, almost irresistibly, grab our attention: Blood and sex, the remnants of our primal instincts. The sheer violence of the event grabs the attention of the masses, who forget that the Games serve as a reminder of the people’s servitude to its elite. This concept is already well-known and fully exploited in today’s mass media, as elite-sponsored messages are constantly sold to consumers as being “entertainment”. The Hunger Games therefore aptly portray the role of media in the manipulation of public opinion. Will the movie help young people realize this fact?

At one point in The Hunger Games, the death of a little girl shocked the people to a point that it brought a brief moment of lucidity and solidarity as the kill highlighted the atrocity of the Games. The live broadcasting of the death lead to a violent uprising in her district as the locals realized that they were willing participants in something terrible. The uprising was quickly quelled however, by the ever-present police force of the state. Furthermore, in order to prevent further social trouble, the producers of the show introduced a new element to the show: Love between Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the girl and the boy from District 12. By introducing love (and, by extension, sex) into the show, the producers managed to quell the masses and brought them back to their usual state of silent stupor. This part of the movie reflects how mass media is used by the powers that be today. The worldwide reach of The Hunger Games series itself proves that stories that cleverly feature the ingredients of sex and violence are bound to get people hooked. And, even though The Hunger Games seems to be denouncing the perversity of violence in mass media, it sure brings more of it into movie theatres.

Desensitizing to a New Type of Violence

While there is no shortage of violence in Hollywood, The Hunger Games movie crosses a boundary that is rarely seen in movies: Violence by minors and towards minors. In this PG-13 movie we see kids aged between 12 and 18 violently stabbing, slashing, strangling, shooting and breaking the necks of other children – scenes that are seldom seen in Hollywood movies. While it is surely a way for the movie the grab the attention of the movie’s target audience (which happens to be teenagers aged 12 to 18) The Hunger Games brings to the forefront a new form of violence that was previously deemed too disturbing to portray in movies. But in the particular kill-or-be-killed scenario of The Hunger Games, the viewers easily go beyond this psychological barrier and find themselves yelling stuff at the movie like “Come on, Katniss, take your bow and shoot that vicious little f**cker in the head!”.

In Conclusion

The Hunger Games is set in world that is exactly what is described to be the New World Order: A rich and powerful elite, an exploited and dumbed-down mass of people, the dissolving of democracies into a police state entities, high-tech surveillance, mass media used for propaganda and a whole lot of blood rituals. There is indeed nothing optimistic in the dystopian future described in The Hunger Games. Even human dignity is revoked as the masses are forced to watch their own children killing each others as if they were caged animals. That being said, there is little to no difference between movie goers who watch the movie The Hunger Games and the masses in the movie that witness the cruelty of the Games. Both are willing participants in an event that portrays the sacrifice of their own under the amused eye of the elite. Furthermore, one can argue that the movie accomplishes the same functions as the Games in the movie: Distracting the masses with blood and sex while reminding it of the elite’s power.

Is The Hunger Games attempting to warn an apathetic youth of the danger of allowing the current system to devolve into a totalitarian nightmare? Or is it simply programming it to perceive the coming of a New World Order as an inevitability? That question is up for debate. But reading what is being said in the mass media about The Hunger Games, it seems there is an even more important question up for debate: Are you Team Peeta or Team Gale?

The writer makes a good point: the mass media is pushing the same bait as "The Capitol" pushes in the movie: focus on left/right - the gladiators in the ring - pay no attention to the horror of the events. Lap dogs to Bilderberg, in an amazingly ironic mime, they're doing exactly what the propagandists are doing in the movie.

It was clear to me, as it was to Alex - as shared in his comments - that the author's intent was to bring more attention to the coming NWO. I don't disregard the possibility that Hollywood are trying to use it as conditioning, but here's the crux: If you are already awake and have read all three books, watched the movie and done your research, the intent is crystal clear. There IS uprising, there IS hatred toward the Capitol, there IS comradeship among the peasants as they band together to become a strong force - hiding weapons, black market food, shunning the regime. There is clear mocking of the elite.

My 13yo son and I absorbed the whole thing. He is awake because his momma educates him - the intent of the books was clear to him too. If you're not awake, then it it's just a shocking fictional story. As time goes along and people start seeing what's going on in the world, they may think back to the story line and remember the uprising. I'm a glass half full kinda gal.  Wink

The great thing is that it is encouraging more children to take up archery. I teach archery and have been inundated with students. This is a great thing, getting kids more in touch with the outdoors and equipping them to be self sufficient, i.e. interested in hunting. Yes, I'm stocking up on ammo, but I'm stocking up on arrows and broad heads too!

yes, George Carlin was magical. the audience would have been offended by anyone else, but not this guy, he was able to flat out state the truth in such a way ha could penetrate the skull and enter the brain mass no matter what, undeniable truths with a twist of humor, this man had it down pat.
