China's economic growth will likely slow to "medium" speed--that is, growth of 6%-7% annually--over the next few years, with a slowdown in investment growth, a government economist said at a forum Tuesday.

China's economic outlook will remain optimistic if the nation maintains annual growth of 6%-7% for a decade or more, said Liu Shijin, deputy director of the Development Research Center of the State Council.

China's gross domestic product rose 9.4% from a year earlier in the first three quarters of this year, and the World Bank said Tuesday that it expects China's gross domestic product to grow by 9.1% this year, down from an estimate of 9.3% in April.
