Just wondering, if it has any subtle messages in the movie?

I checked out the trailer. It got me thinking....It's interesting but I couldn't see stuff like this ever happening in real life. Anything that triggers primal behavior in the masses is something the elitists want to keep people away from at all cost. Even possibly way cage fighting never was allowed as a main stream sport until the 90's. The reason is they don't want anyone to see primal behavior. They want everyone to just stay dumbed down, hypnotized by what's on TV. Anything that has to do with primal issues is either hidden away, or else only depicted if it's happening in a far off place like the war in the middle east. The masses of society they want as good hard working sheeple immunine to any form of serious violence in the society. What I mean is if too much of it starts happening within the society it would cause people to rebell and disrupt civil society. It still happens but that's why cops want the cameras turned off and why it doesn't make main stream news. That's also why I'm not convinced that we'll end up going the route of nazi germany or russia durring ww2. They already have tried that and realized it doesn't work very good. The better way is always to work via deception so that the masses just continue to go to work and watch tv, and not be exposed first hand to much oppression or violence on the level that would destabilize the system. When it's time to destabilize it will be a mass pandemic that wipes everyone out most likely when they are ready to shut down the show. I could be wrong, what do I know really, but I'm just saying that it's a scientific technocracy so in my opinion the stuff depicted in the movie is only likely gonna stay in movies. But again who knows. Reminds me kinda of the movie "in time".

I have not read the books but i thought the movie was great and important.  Alex reviewed in on Tues. if you want his take.  I can probably stay away from real spoilers and give you the reasons why I think it is GREAT to have a movie out there like this AND be wildly popular.
When i heard the books were based on a post revolution USA, i was interested right off.  But predicted a Hollywoodized post apoc that was either unrealistic and/or soft (teen audience).  The movie is actually pretty serious, surprisingly.  I could hear the young, very excited giddiness wane in the crowd as the movie progressed.  The depiction of the "rulers", and the trendy class was great.  I was thinking the word "trendies" as soon as they showed them. The whole movie is chock full of great parallels to what we, the awake, can easily recognize as a potential future.

I have to say that I was a little put off by Alex explaining the movie as a pre-programming, double negative reverse BS.  I would say DON'T look for conspiracy in EVERYTHING.  And if you do not think the author is a patriot, i would say to Alex, if you really wants her on the show do not demonize her until you DO hear her story. I was so excited, leaving the theater, that today's youth is embracing this movie.  Even if they aren't understanding ALL of what it has to offer.  The protagonist...a hunter, grounded, family oriented, survivalist...wtf...we NEED more role models like this.

Lastly, either way, it IS a great story.
