Regardless what you believe or don't believe, at least according to this Bible Prophecy Scholar we are living in a time not unlike that just preceding the Days of Noah. I would have to agree primarily for reasons of having left Kansas a long time ago, that nothing is as it used to be, nor even as it seems. I liken the times in which we live to a circus fun house, trying to find your way out of the twisting, turning labyrinth of mirrors. If you think you had something to ponder back then, watch the linked video and see the next room explode into a million mirrors.
In this rapid fire factoid spew (lecture from Tom Horn - a good source for these emerging trends from a Biblical perspective) his conclusions will no doubt shed light on the inevitable transformation of our society from behind the scenes; now introduced through advanced bio and nano technology (much of which is beginning to emerge all around us). This is a perfect example of actual newsworthy developments that are rarely emphasized by the mainstream media prospering little to no direct input from society at large, while the enterprising benefactors (or should I say victims of self-determination and manifest destiny) are challenging the natural order with full blown chaos!!
This has ushered in the new arms race (seeking to become more human than human - and ultimately "no more a human") and a (world without limits) that will further drive the gap between rich and poor, sovereign and slave, and ultimately force (in no less than a future shock definition - as much as I despise the Toffler's) cooperation of governments and their leaders to introduce strict control mechanisms on the population (what remains after massive upheaval) through a totalitarian world government and scientific dictatorship. More war and crisis must necessarily follow to invoke the genesis of strict controls, compliance, and international cooperation (meaning in essence that the elite SuperClass will eliminate their competition).
Furthermore, just contemplate the kind of money (debt/usery/slavery) it is going to take to help fund and create this future dystopia for the majority, while at the same time nurturing a figurative (imagined) utopia for the social engineers. This brave new world inherently demands that all developing life-forms with new definitions of life itself become increasingly patented and the host environment become increasingly synthetic and aware (based on other anlalysis I have tended to like EVERYWARE technology and ubiquitous computing models).
Together this new synthesis of reality produced primarily for the creative indulgence of the inspiring Masters of the Universe cannot function and survive apart from codified restraint. How can it? But since when have the "powers that be" demonstrated any measure of thoughtful moderation? Now, their fiction is bordering on our reality, and our reality is integral to their fiction when these
carnival keepers of the cosmos are by default the progenitors, the authors, judge, jury, kings, queens, and Gods themselves in the galaxies they choose to fashion, one world at a time.....Granted, I am taking some artistic license here and simply extrapolating upon the base logic for the collective future of our species, one we can only speculate if this genie continues to leave the bottle.
Truly, this would make the most awesome Sci-Fiction novel bordering on the fantasmical one could possibly conjure up. (not a bad idea)
