Slowly does it.

UKIP surge in Kent election
http://www.ukip.org/content/latest-news/2514-ukip-surge-in-kent-election

Quote
Conservative John Cubitt polled 648 votes; UKIP's Geoffrey Clark polled 462; David Gibson of the Liberal Democrats polled 148; and Labour's Andrew Mylett came last with 112. The turnout was 23% and UKIP secured 33.7% of the vote.

Quote
Nigel Farage, UKIP Leader and MEP for Kent, said: "Geoffrey has done us proud and coming second only to the Conservatives proves that UKIP is fast becoming a growing force in British politics. People are starting to realise that we are not just about the EU, but also offer credible policies on what matters to them locally at a time when the so-called mainstream parties are failing them."

A recent poll also showed that 7% of Tories who voted in the last general election now intend to vote UKIP. That's over 700,000 votes we can add to last year's UKIP tally of 900,000+. A nice increase in just a year. Not counting independents and defections from other parties, of course.

I said it after the election but it seems even more obvious now. If things continue as they are then I don't see how the Tories can ever form their own government again. The question is, what will Tories do when they realise this?
