Disgusting.
Someone I know quoted the first paragraph and I was sure to reply with "Perhaps not mental retardation, but definitely brain damage in some cases." I also noted that 8% of Gardasil injections result in "serious injury." A couple others jumped in and backed me! I was shocked!

Researcher blasts HPV marketing

BY CINDY BEVINGTON

cindyb@kpcnews.net (Created: Wednesday, March 14, 2007 9:04 AM EDT)

LEBANON, N.H. — A lead researcher who spent 20 years developing the vaccine for humanpapilloma virus says the HPV vaccine is not for younger girls, and that it is "silly" for states to be mandating it for them.

"Giving it to 11-year-olds is a great big public health experiment," said Diane M. Harper, who is a scientist, physician, professor and the director of the Gynecologic Cancer Prevention Research Group at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth Medical School in New Hampshire.

"It is silly to mandate vaccination of 11- to 12-year-old girls There also is not enough evidence gathered on side effects to know that safety is not an issue."

Internationally recognized as a pioneer in the field, Harper has been studying HPV and a possible vaccine for several of the more than 100 strains of HPV for 20 years - most of her adult life.

"This vaccine should not be mandated for 11-year-old girls," she reiterated. "It's not been tested in little girls for efficacy. At 11, these girls don't get cervical cancer - they won't know for 25 years if they will get cervical cancer.

"Also, the public needs to know that with vaccinated women and women who still get Pap smears (which test for abnormal cells that can lead to cancer), some of them will still get cervical cancer."

For months, Harper said, she's been trying to convince major television and print media to listen to her and tell the facts about the usefulness and effectiveness of this vaccine.

"But no one will print it," she said.

So far more than 40 cases of Guillian-Barre syndrome - a dangerous immune disorder that causes tingling, numbness and even paralysis of the muscles have been reported in girls who have received the HPV vaccine in combination with the meningitis vaccine.

"To mandate now is simply to Merck's benefit, and only to Merck's benefit," she said.

(COMMENTARY-ONLY 5 CASES OF Guillan-Barre are reported on VAERS-Merck has not reported these in their studies to the FDA or to peer-review)

HPV vaccine associated nerve damage
...
The following list is but a few of the cases of nerve damage reported VAERS after injections of the HPV vaccine Gardasil®:

•Guillain-Barré Syndrome – usually begins with symptoms similar to CIPD (below), gradually spreading to the arms and upper body sometimes resulting in total paralysis, or death.
•CIDP – Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy – a progressive weakness and impaired feeling in the arms or legs, characterized by tingling or numbness beginning in the fingers and toes, loss of deep tendon reflexes, fatigue and abnormal sensations.
•ADEM – Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis – Symptoms, which vary among individuals, may include headache, delirium, lethargy, coma, seizures, stiff neck, fever, ataxia, optic neuritis, transverse myelitis, vomiting, and weight loss. Other symptoms may include monoparesis (paralysis of a single limb) or hemiplegia (paralysis on one side of the body).
•MS – Multiple Sclerosis – caused by damage to the nerves in the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another.
•Bell’s Palsy Syndrome – resulting from damage to the nerves of the face, resulting in excruciating pain, muscle spasms and facial contortions. It can lead to total facial paralysis.
•Epilepsy – a brain disorder involving repeated spontaneous seizures of any type. Seizures (convulsions) are episodes of disturbed brain function that cause changes in attention or behavior. They are caused by abnormally excited electrical signals in the brain.
•Encephalitis – inflammation of the brain. Inflammation changes the normal blood flow in the brain. This can cause symptoms such as confusion, a fever, a bad headache, and a stiff neck. Sometimes it leads to symptoms like seizures and personality changes.

May 13, 2011, Posted by Howard Law, PC.

The US Food and Drug Administration recently turned down an application by Merck to approve Gardasil as a vaccine against the human papillomavirus for women 27 and older. The FDA says it wants the pharmaceutical company to include a statement on its vaccine label noting that the drug isn't proven to prevent HPV-linked complication in women over 26.

Gardasil protects against the four HPV strains that are most likely to cause genital warts and cervical cancer. It also is supposed to cancers of the vagina and vulva, as well as anal cancer in both sexes.

In 2006, the drug was approved for use by females, ages 9 to 26. In 2009, the vaccine was approved for males in the same age range. That said, our Anaheim products liability lawyers would like you to be aware that serious side effects can result from using this vaccine.

Since 2006, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System has received over 15,000 reports of adverse effects, including at least 44 deaths.

Other possible Gardasil side effects:
• Seizures
 • Optic lesions
 • Spontaneous abortion
 • Guillain-Barre Syndrome
 • Paralysis
 • Convulsions
 • Anaphylactic shock
 • Coma
 • Blood clots
 • Miscarriage

Merck has taken aggressive steps to market the drugs so that parents would make sure their daughters receive the Gardasil vaccine. Yet some of the health complications reported have occurred to young girls and teenagers.
