Gun Buy Back Program Is Tuesday At Second Ebenezer Church

DETROIT -- The Detroit Police Department is offering cash for guns during a buy back event Tuesday at Second Ebenezer Church.

The following rules apply:

Turn in unloaded weapons.
This will be on a first come, first serve basis.
No questions will be asked.
Non-operational weapon (Pay up to -$25).
Operational weapon - ($50).
Two or more operational weapons - ($100).
Cash will be distributed to citizens at the church upon turn-in of weapons.
Assault weapons ($100 - maximum $200).
Long guns ($25).

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, which is located at 14601 Dequindre.

Way to encourage theft and burglary, Detroit Police.  What responsible law-abiding gun owner would turn in a $300-$2000 firearm for $50?  Answer = NONE.  There may be a few morons that fall for this, but the overwhelming majority will be criminals stealing weapons from law-abiding citizens.

Notice the payment amounts are basically list prices for street drugs.

There has never been a significant decrease in crime with these gun buy back programs.
