They must be using satellites to do these. Maybe the Hubble Space Observatory?

Pretty amazing how they can film the Sun like this and be able to catch that huge flare at the right time.
Maybe they knew ahead of time from astronomers calculations?

I wonder what consequences this will have on our old planet.

No they have different observation satellites.

Indeed.  There are so many satellites in geo-stationary orbit, that it is hard for them to put up new ones, without intruding upon nearby existing ones.

That CME was huge!!!!!  Holy cow, it was very creepy to watch.  We don't yet understand our sun, and it's scary possibilities.
