Chicago man guilty of aiding Pakistan militant group in kangaroo trial
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/06/10/chicago-man-guilty-of-aiding-pakistan-militant-group/
By Reuters

CHICAGO (Reuters) - A U.S. jury Thursday found a Pakistani-born Chicago businessman guilty of providing support to an Islamic militant group responsible for the 2008 assault on Mumbai but not guilty of taking part in the attack. In a mixed verdict, the jury also found Tahawwur Rana, 50, a former Pakistan Army doctor with Canadian citizenship, guilty of conspiring to attack a Danish newspaper, a plot hatched by the militant group but never carried out. In the trial, held in U.S. federal court in Chicago, the key witness -- Rana's childhood friend, David Headley -- implicated Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, in the Mumbai attack which killed 166 people. Headley admitted scouting targets for the Mumbai attackers sent by Lashkar-e-Taiba, the militant group behind both plots and designated by the U.S. State Department a terrorist organization. The judge gave both sides 60 days to file post-trial motions and did not set a sentencing date. Rana faces a maximum of 15 years in prison for each of the two counts. U.S. Justice Department officials said the case was not over. "I'm hoping there are other defendants ... that other people are brought to justice, both here and overseas," said Patrick Fitzgerald, the U.S. Attorney in Chicago who has led prosecutions of several Islamic militants.

Just for the sake of sanity...David Headley was a top DEA asset for over 10 years and he worked with the DEA special operations to create the entire Mumbai false flag which killed over 100 people and is being used for $Billions in fraudulent funding of GWoT. Patrick Fitzgerald's entire job is to manufacture some low level guilty verdicts (just like with Scooter Libby) in order to protect the true terrorists.

Maybe they are going to use the Fermi Lab for their false flag...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/large-hadron-collider/7885997/Large-Hadron-Collider-rival-Tevatron-has-found-Higgs-boson-say-rumours.html

Large Hadron Collider rival Tevatron 'has found Higgs boson', say rumours
Rumours are emerging from the rival to the Large Hadron Collider that the Higgs boson, or so-called "God particle", has been found.

Tommaso Dorigo, a physicist at the University of Padua, has said in his blog that there has been talk coming out of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois, that the Higgs has been discovered.

• Higgs boson discovery rumours false, say Tevatron scientists
The Tevatron, the huge particle accelerator at Fermi - the most powerful in the world after the LHC - is expected to be retired when the CERN accelerator becomes fully operational, but may have struck a final blow before it becomes obsolete.

If one form of the rumour is to be believed - and Prof Dorigo is extremely circumspect about it - then it is a "three-sigma" signature, meaning that there is a statistical likelihood of 99.7 per cent that it is correct. But, of course, that is only if the rumour is to be believed.

In the post, titled "Rumors about a light Higgs", Prof Dorigo said: "It reached my ear, from two different, possibly independent sources, that an experiment at the Tevatron is about to release some evidence of a light Higgs boson signal.

"Some say a three-sigma effect, others do not make explicit claims but talk of a unexpected result."

While media attention has been focusing on the LHC, the Tevatron has been quietly plugging away in the search for Higgs. In the 27 years since it was first completed (it has been regularly upgraded since then) it has discovered a quark and observed four different baryons. While it has not been able to pinpoint the elusive Higgs, it has narrowed the search, reducing the window of possible masses where it might be found.

Last year, Fermi physicists said they expected to have enough data to find or rule out the Higgs by early next year, and gave themselves a fifty-fifty chance of finding it before the end of 2010.

The Higgs boson is the last of the particles posited by the standard model of particle physics still to be found. It is said to explain why other particles have mass, and its discovery would confirm the standard model. If its existence is ruled out altogether, then other, previously less popular theories will have to be examined.

New Scientist suggests that more may be known this month, when scientists present their findings at the International Conference on High Energy Physics (ICHEP), which opens in Paris on 22 July.

WE HAVE IT! MASSIVE PUT OPTIONS ON THE CHICAGO BOARD OPTIONS EXCHANGE

And the daily volume put/call ratio for equity options on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) hit an 18-month high on Wednesday, indicating that investors are significantly bearish on the stock market.

If anything is going to happen we have 'perfect triangulation' and its going to happen now or in a week or two.

Guys if this is going live the only way their going to back off if we can get Alex to Pre-empt  by blurbing about it tomorrow on the radio - I didn't listen today (at work) but we need this, if he hasn't already.

Does anyone know if he blurbed on it.  He's the only one that can wake up enough people in time to pre-empt the attack (million plus).  A couple hundred people on this forum who know is mouse sh*t to the globalists, they could care less - just add our names to the lists anyways when martial law is declared.

I use yahoo a lot as a search engine.  If you type in "government false flag attack on chicago" there, you get some interesting articles.

Alex Jones could make that his search term of the day.  That's the quickest way to let the government know that the population is onto something they're doing--tens of thousands of searches on the same topic.

One of the stories the yahoo search turns up is at theintelhub.com:

http://theintelhub.com/2011/05/30/will-there-be-a-new-false-flag-attack-in-chicagos-sears-tower/

I commented there about how I think Chicago's the most likely target for a nuke:

Quote
Chicago would seem to be the best bet for a nuclear false flag.

Silverstein owned the WTC bldgs that went down, and he invested some of his insurance money from that in Chicago’s Sears Tower.

Since that time, the Chicago mafia got one of its own into the White House. That organization could control every aspect of a nuke job in the city and then coordinate the aftermath. How convenient.

The new mayor Rahm Emmanuel has terrorist ties. He’s the offspring of terrorists. We learn from our parents.

Oprah is closing up shop in Chicago and bugging out. Foreknowledge? Her media machine got Obama elected. He owes her something.

Chicago’s also near the top of the New Madrid fault line, which runs down the middle of America. A properly placed nuke could do a job on Chicago and possibly create a seismic disturbance. The fault line’s been hyped with drills and lots of media attention lately.

The letters that said al Qaida has buried nukes in the U.S. originated from Chicago.

Blowing Chicago would get rid of all kinds of incriminating evidence about Obama’s background. All the records of his CIA ties and that homosexuality stuff (look up Man’s Country in a search engine) and faked info about his phony “community organizer” stint…gone in a flash.

A nuke in Chicago would be a deathblow to America’s financial system. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange is the second largest commodities trading market in the world and the largest in the U.S.

A nuke in Chicago would also put a heavy contingent of troops in the middle of America, ready to deploy either east or west.

Chicago seems to be the odds-on favorite for a nuke.

F16 Crashes In Wisconsin, Eyewitness Claims Nuclear Weapons On Board As Military Plants Cover Story?

The Intel Hub

An F16 crashed in Wisconsin on Tuesday, causing the evacuation of residents within a one mile radius of the downed aircraft.

Shocking eyewitness reports were broadcast live shortly after the crash with one witness claiming that the aircraft carried a nuclear or chemical weapon.

The eyewitness, speaking to ABC affiliate WISN, stated that he saw a different fighter jet flying circles around the crash site and that the crash was much louder than a sonic boom, more like an actual explosion.

He then went on to say that some sort of munitions flew off the downed craft and hit a business close to ten miles away!

Two Wisconsin Hopitals participate in mass casualty disaster drill

City of Oconomowoc - "This is only a drill …" that is the word from hospital administrators as they prepare for a special practice event that assesses their facility's level of readiness for a mass decontamination in the event of disaster. On June 13, Oconomowoc and Waukesha memorial hospitals will participate in a homeland defense training drill called Red Dragon 2011, which tests coordination and communication between the military and area medical facilities and ensures their ability to continue patient care during a large-scale incident. The drill will be done in cooperation with the U.S. military. According to information from ProHealth, throughout the training, a variety of military vehicles and equipment will be on site at both Oconomowoc Memorial and Waukesha memorial hospitals. Military personnel will make use of a full range of special equipment, including a system of decontamination tents and sprayers to treat mock victims. At Oconomowoc Memorial, the military will also practice on-site vehicle decontamination. Although the operation will appear realistic, the public is reminded that this is only an exercise.

"People get nervous when they see military vehicles driving around and soldiers in uniform. We will let neighbors know it is an exercise," explained Doug Birlingmair, ProHealth Care's emergency preparedness and hazardous material specialist. The drill will involve about 185 members of the U.S. Army Reserve and dozens of hospital staff members training together on a decontamination exercise. It will provide both military and civilian response units with an opportunity to learn valuable information that will shape future protocols and procedures. The hospitals are required to do two emergency preparedness exercises per year as part of the accreditation process; one involves community resources, one simulates a lack of community resources, he explained. It is the first combined military and civilian disaster drill to take place in Southeastern Wisconsin since the initial exercise two years ago. "This is very similar to 2009 Red Dragon with a smaller number of hospitals participating. WMH and OMH are the only two fully participating in Wisconsin this year. That is the way the exercise is structured," Birlingmair said. A few others are participating in a minor way, and an Illinois hospital is also participating. "Oconomowoc Memorial and Waukesha Memorial will remain open and will continue to provide the highest level of patient care during the exercise," he added. Exercise times are expected to run from 8 to 11 a.m. at WMH and from 4:30 to 6:30- p.m. at OMH. During the drill on the OMH campus, there will be a sacrificial car to practice equipment decontamination.

Birlingmair said that, in addition, the exercise will include BID (biological integrated detection systems) drills. BIDS offer the ability to detect and rapidly analyze the threat level of a contaminant in the air. Birlingmair said the exercise requires significant planning. "There is a lot of preparation. We have to look at what our goals and objectives are and what we want to accomplish," he explained. Decisions include where to stage the event, the travel routes, how to feed the soldiers, parking issues and alerting neighbors that while it appears very real, it is a training exercise. "Ambulances at either hospital will utilize the emergency rooms. There will be two separate entry routes to avoid confusion" between real patients and drill patients, Birlingmair said. Both hospitals will also participate in tabletop dills that test the hospitals' capabilities if they do not have outside support; for instance, if they can't get medical supply deliveries in, or if electricity has been cut off. That became part of the accreditation process after Hurricane Katrina, Birlingmair explained. The public is free to watch, but is asked to keep their distance.

That is some compelling information but avoids any discussion cocerning the reality of covert operations within the US. The information about hydrazine came after the eyewitnesses were told about possible nuke contamination. I mean really...F-16's, National Guard, witnesses told about nukes, coma inducing chemical contamination over civilian airspace, Red Dragon mass casualty drills being held over the same geographic regions, a media which is told to lie to the public by default...WHAT PART OF THIS STORY IS NOT A MATTER OF NATIONAL SECURITY TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC?

What is hardly debatable it that the whole "nuke" issue, at the very least, could be used as a cover story. Often the threat of nuke contamination is used to cause an evacuation or to limit the number of investigators overseeing an incident with a black ops project. Additionally, the witnesses saying that they were told of a nuke issue lays a cover story for a future false flag. These are of great interest concerning the timing of the Red Dragon drills in the same geographic locations. As far as nukes being flown around American airspace, here ya go (and who knows what is now going on with the National Guard thanks to the CIA's takeover of the Pentagon and the merging of the DHS with the DoD):
Someone, operating under a special chain of command within the United States Air Force, stole a nuclear weapon.
http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread302187/pg1
11-9-2007

Some History:
Barksdale Missile Number Six deserves far more public attention than it's received to date. Missile Number Six is potentially the major story of at least this year.  Until 1968 under the Airborne Alert Program, informally called Operation Chrome Dome, the Air Force routinely kept about a dozen strategic bombers with nuclear weapons flying at all times.  One predictable result was crashes and incidents. In 1968 the Department of Defense published a list of 13 serious nuclear weapons accidents that occurred between 1950 and 1968. In 1980 the list was revised to include 32 incidents through that year.  Notably, the Pentagon has not acknowledged any accidents since 1980. This alone highlights the importance the Pentagon is placing on the recent transportation of nuclear weapons from North Dakota to Louisiana.

Through 1968, several reported incidents involved plane crashes or malfunctions, beginning with the crash of a B-29 near Fairfield, California in August 1950. The resulting blast was felt 30 miles away.  In July 1950 a B-50 crashed near Lebanon, Ohio. The high-explosive trigger for the nuclear weapon detonated on impact. The blast was felt over 25 miles away.  In May 1957 a nuclear weapon fell from the bomb bay of a B-36 near Albuquerque, New Mexico. Parachutes malfunctioned and the weapon was destroyed on impact.  In October 1957 near Homestead, Florida a B-47 crashed. The nuclear weapon was burned.  In March 1958 a B-47 accidentally dropped a nuclear weapon near Florence, South Carolina. The high-explosive trigger detonated on impact.  In November 1958 a B-47 crashed near Abilene, Texas. The trigger of the nuclear weapon exploded upon impact.  In July 1959 a C-124 crashed near Bossier City, Louisiana. Both plane and nuclear weapon were destroyed.  In October 1959 a B-52 with two nuclear weapons was involved in a mid-air collision near Hardinsburg, Kentucky. One weapon partially burned.  In January 1961 a B-52 broke apart in mid-air near Goldsboro, North Carolina. Two nuclear weapons were released. The parachute on one weapon malfunctioned, and contamination was spread over a wide area. The uranium core was never recovered. Daniel Ellsberg reported that detonation was a very real risk because five of six safety devices failed.  In that month near Monticello, Idaho a B-52 carrying nuclear weapons exploded in mid-air. No information was made available as to the weapons.  In March 1961 a B-52 with two nuclear weapons crashed near Yuba City, California.  In January 1964 a B-52 carrying two nuclear weapons crashed near Cumberland, Maryland.  In January 1966 a B-52 carrying four hydrogen bombs crashed after a mid-air collision near Palomares, Spain. Two weapons exploded on impact, with resulting plutonium contamination. A months-long program was undertaken to locate and extract the other two weapons from the ocean. Major policy changes were taken under consideration.  In January 1968 a B-52 carrying four hydrogen weapons crashed and burned near Thule AFB in Greenland. Explosives in one bomb detonated, spreading plutonium contamination. Apparently, the other three weapons have never been accounted for.  Following large public protests Denmark, which owns Greenland and prohibits nuclear weapons on or over its territory, filed a strong protest. A few days later the Secretary of Defense ordered the removal of nuclear weapons from planes. After that order was issued, all aircraft armed with nuclear weapons were grounded but kept in a constant state of alert.  In 1991 by Presidential order, nuclear weapons were removed from all aircraft. Bomber nuclear ground alerts, during which nuclear weapons are loaded onto bombers during test and training exercises, were halted. After that time, all nuclear weapons to be delivered by plane were permanently maintained in secure storage facilities.

August 30, 2007
All of which makes the transport of nuclear weapons in combat position on a combat plane so newsworthy.  On August 30, for the first time since 1968, nuclear warheads in combat position were carried by an American bomber. Numerous international treaty provisions were violated in the process.  That Thursday, a B-52H Stratofortress flew from Minot AFB in North Dakota to Barksdale AFB in Louisiana while carrying twelve cruise missiles. Either five or six of those missiles were armed with nuclear warheads.

Cruise Missiles
The missiles on the B-52 were AGM-129 Advanced Cruise Missile units, specifically designed to be launched from wing pods of B-52H planes.  A total of 460 units were manufactured by Raytheon. A total of 394 units are currently maintained by the Air Force. Apparently, 38 are to be modernized and upgraded in Fiscal Year 2008 and the other 356 are to be decommissioned pursuant to the 2002 Moscow treaty.  Raytheon has publicly announced the AGM-129 missiles are to be modified to accomplish a "classified cruise missile mission". This has widely been interpreted to mean conversion to bunker-busters, most likely for use in Iran. This widely accepted explanation is being used to explain why armed cruise missiles are being flown in American airspace.

Nuclear Warheads
The AGM-129 was specifically designed to deliver a W-80 nuclear warhead. The W-80 weapon has a variable yield capability, of 5 to 150 kilotons. For comparison purposes, the bomb used on Hiroshima was 13 to 15 kilotons, or equivalent to 13,000 to 15,000 tons of TNT explosive.

News Stories and Flawed Explanations

The story of the B-52 flight was first reported by Army Times, owned by Gannett, on Wednesday September 5. Gannett relied on information provided by "anonymous officers". The story was picked up by Yahoo Wednesday morning, published by USA Today and The Washington Pos, and then quickly spread. In response, the Pentagon quickly spread an official explanation.  The Air Force admitted to an inadvertent error: The intent was to transport ACMs without weapons. According to military officers, the nuclear warheads should have been removed before the missiles were mounted on the pylons under the wings of the bomber.

In the words of the Pentagon:

"There was an error which occurred during a regularly scheduled transfer of weapons between two bases. The weapons were safe and remained in Air Force control and custody at all times."

For almost the first time in the history of the nation, the military has publicly and promptly admitted it "made a mistake". This in itself is truly astounding.  To reinforce the military's claim that a mistake was made, a system-wide stand-down was ordered for September 14.  That official explanation was quickly explained away. The mistake was made intentionally, so a "deliberate leak" of a secret operation could occur.  The CIA and the Office of Counter-Terrorism in the State Department explained that Barksdale AFB is a "jumping off point" for re-supply of the Middle East.  The "deliberate leak" was intended to serve as a veiled warning to Iran. This deliberately misleading explanation is evidently intended to lead the public or Iran or both to logically conclude the missiles are bound for Iran.  Bluntly, State and the CIA converted a whistleblower leak by true American patriots into a deliberate leak by official Washington, to scare Iran.  By this means Washington has led the public to forget or overlook the real issue.  To begin, the multiple official explanations reek to high heaven. They collectively read suspiciously like flimsy cover stories concocted in hasty desperation. And no amount of pretty lipstick will be able to make the official explanations pretty.

Transportation Violations
More conflicting explanations followed. These missiles are part of a group scheduled to be decommissioned. This would explain why they were shipped out of North Dakota.  But the missiles were not transported on their way to decommissioning. Missiles are normally decommissioned at Davis-Monthan AFB at Tucson. Nuclear weapons are decommissioned at the Department of Energy's Pantex facility near Amarillo, Texas, accessed through Kirkland AFB in New Mexico.  And military policy requires minimization of the number of flights made with nuclear weapons aboard. So the weapons should not have been mounted on the missiles, flown to Louisiana, un-mounted and flown to New Mexico.  The mode of transportation is also a major issue not defused by official explanations. Per standard operating procedures, or SOPs, both missiles and nuclear warheads are transported primarily by air, in specially modified C-130s or C-17s. Under no peacetime circumstances do military SOPs allow transport of nuclear weapons mounted in cruise missiles mounted in combat positions on combat planes.  Department of Defense Directive Number 4540.5, issued on February 4, 1998, regulates logistic transportation of nuclear weapons.  By delegation of Commanders of Combatant Commands, movement of nuclear weapons must be approved by commanders of major service commands.  Commanders of Combat Commands or service component commanders must evaluate, authorize and approve transport modes and movement routes for nuclear weapons in their custody.  The Air Force is required to maintain a Prime Nuclear Airlift Force capability to conduct the logistic transport of nuclear weapons.  Under SOPs, combat planes with combat-ready nuclear weapons can only be flown on the authority of the Commander in Chief, the Joint Chiefs of Staff or the National Military Command Authority.  All of these transportation regulations were flagrantly violated on August 30.

Handling Violations
Violations of regulations concerning handling of the nuclear weapons in North Dakota are worse.  A sophisticated computerized tracking system is used for nuclear weapons. Multiple sign-offs are required to remove the weapons from their storage bunkers.  The AGM-129 Advanced Cruise Missile was designed to carry nuclear weapons. No non-nuclear warhead is available for this missile. So the only possible error could have been loading nuclear warheads on the missiles instead of practice dummies.  The practice warheads have standard blue and yellow signs declaring "Inert, non-nuclear". The nuclear warheads have at least three distinctive red warning signs. This error is therefore highly improbable, absent tampering with signage.  Nuclear weapons are transported from the storage bunker to the aircraft in a caravan that routinely includes vehicles with machine guns front and rear and guards with M-16s. All steps in the process are done under the watchful eyes of armed military police.  Rules require that at least two people jointly control every step of the process. If one person loses sight of the other, both are forced to the ground face-down and temporarily "placed under arrest" by observant security forces. All progress stops until inspections are made to assure the weapons weren't tampered with.  All nuclear weapons are connected to sophisticated alarm systems to prevent removal or tampering. They could only be removed from the storage bunker by turning the alarm off. And the squad commander clearly would not have authority to turn off the alarm.

The Impossible Mistake
Bluntly, the mistake of loading nuclear weapons on a combat aircraft in combat-ready position is simply not possible to make. Safeguards are far too stringent and far too many people would be involved. Particularly given that the mounting was in violation of policy that's been in place without exception for almost 40 years.  No discipline is expected to be meted out. The New York Times tried to imply the commanding general had been fired. Actually, the squad commander in charge of munitions crews at Minot was "relieved of duty pending an investigation". He has not been removed from his position or disciplined. The crews involved have been "temporarily decertified pending corrective actions or additional training" but have not been disciplined. No mention has been made of the wing commander.  Note carefully: These actions amount to nothing at all. The wing and squad commanders are still in place and the crews can easily be re-certified.

Successful Confusion
Washington's efforts to confuse the public have been successful. Attention has shifted from the crucial issue.  This news has already become non-news. The August 14 stand-down will momentarily become news, followed by announcements of more stringent restrictions, improved safeguards and additional training. The public always has been and always will be safe.

One of the major issues will be avoided:
Someone in an irregular chain of Air Force command authorized loading and transport of nuclear weapons.  And that would never have been done without a reason. Given the magnitude of regulatory violations involved, the reason must be extremely important.  The paramount issue will be avoided, if necessary with repetition of the reassurance that the Air Force was in control at all times. The weapons were only missing during the 3.5-hour flight.  At Barksdale, the missiles were considered to be unarmed items headed for modernization or the scrap heap, and of no particular importance. They were left unguarded for almost ten hours.  According to one report, almost ten hours were required for airmen at Minot AFB to convince superiors that the nuclear weapons had disappeared. According to information provided to Congress, this time lapsed before airmen at Barksdale "noticed" the weapons were present. News reports will continue to overlook this fact also.  Even here the focus is on time. The number of missiles and warheads issue was overlooked.  Early news reports spoke of five nuclear warheads loaded onto the bomber. Apparently, this information was provided from Barksdale.  That number was later updated to six weapons missing from Minot, apparently based on anonymous tips provided to Military Times by people at Minot. This information has also been forgotten.

Conclusion
Six nuclear weapons disappeared from Minot AFB in North Dakota.  Five nuclear weapons were discovered at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana.  Which leads to my chilling conclusion:  Someone, operating under a special chain of command within the United States Air Force, just stole a nuclear weapon.

What next?
The answer has been provided several times, most recently by CIA Director and General Michael Hayden. On September 7, dressed in full military uniform, Hayden told assembled members of the Council of Foreign Relations:  "Our analysts assess with high confidence that al-Qaida's central leadership is planning high-impact plots against the U. S. homeland."  "We assess with high confidence that al-Qaida is focusing on targets that would produce mass casualties, dramatic destruction and significant aftershocks."  An eye for an eye. Use of nukes will justify use of nukes. A perfect excuse to wage nuclear war against Iran.  I suspect Hayden is absolutely correct, except for his mistaken identification of the "central leadership" that is planning detonation of a nuclear weapon on American soil.

Military Aircraft Crashes In Adams County

Plane Strikes Empty Summer Cottage

POSTED: 2:08 pm CDT June 7, 2011
UPDATED: 7:51 am CDT June 8, 2011

A pilot from the Madison-based 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard is reported to be safe after ejecting from an F-16 fighter jet over Adams County at approximately 1:20 p.m. Tuesday during a routine training flight.

The pilot was recovered south of the Town of New Chester in Adams County and is being medically evaluated. The crash scene is located north of Highway 82, just west of Interstate 39.

The aircraft was flying from Volk Field and was carrying a chemical called hydrazine, which is used to make rocket fuel. A hazmat team was assessing the area Tuesday night.

The Hydrazine chemical...where else has this chemical been used as a basis of distraction to who knows what?

Hydrazine: The Toxic Fuel In That Busted Spy Satellite
http://blogs.wsj.com/health/2008/02/15/hydrazine-the-toxic-fuel-in-that-busted-spy-satellite/
By Jacob Goldstein February 15, 2008, 11:55 AM ET

The Navy’s going to fire a missile at a broken satellite to keep it from crashing into the Earth and spilling hydrazine, a toxic rocket fuel. Whoa. There’s a high holy-cow factor here, we have to admit, with some complicated geopolitical undertones that are beyond our expertise. What we do know is that this is the first time the U.S. military is going to try to knock out a re-entering satellite. But what caught the Health Blog’s eye, right after the amazing missile-shoot-down part, was the hydrazine factor. That missile shoot is lot of trouble to go to. Sure it’s common sense that you wouldn’t want to splash rocket fuel on your face as after shave. But what is hydrazine, and why is it so hazardous? “Hydrazine is a very simple chemical that contains nitrogen and hydrogen,” Kenneth Ramos, a University of Louisville molecular biologist and VP of the Society of Toxicology, tells the Health Blog. It looks like water, more or less, and smells like ammonia. Hydrazine-like molecules are found in nature. “Mushrooms, for example, will have phenylhydrazines,” Ramos says.

“The disadvantage of liquid hydrazine, the one that’s used in rocket fuels, is this is a molecule that’s really irritating.” That’s from a toxicologist, so we’re taking him at his word. A little on your skin will give you a rash, he says. Inhaling it is like sniffing a bottle of Windex, only worse. “If the droplets are inhaled … you’re going to run into problems with lungs,” Ramos says. Breathing in a lot of hydrazine “will immediately give you pulmonary edema, retention of water in the lungs. You can no longer breathe.” The EPA tells us that short-term exposure to hydrazine can cause “irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat, dizziness, headache, nausea, pulmonary edema, seizures, and coma.” As an added hazard bonus, the chemical is classified as a “probable carcinogen.”

So, just to be on the safe side, steer clear of any space junk that may fall your way in the next few days.

Why was this F-16 transporting Hydrazine? Well, Hydrazine is used in the F-16 for the Emergency Power Unit (EPU) even though since 1981 it has been known to be a threat to the environment as well as the pilot and any humans in the area:

Environmental chemistry and management of hydrazine.

Abstract

The recent use of 70% hydrazine-water fuel in the F-16 emergency power unit (EPU) presents problems for organizations responsible for protection of personnel and the environment because of the worldwide deployment of this aircraft and the requirement for fuel handling in a flightline environment. Hydrazine has a low vapor pressure (14 mm Hg at 25 degrees C) but still evaporation rates (16-100 mg/cm2h) from liquid pools are sufficient to generate hazardous atmospheric concentrations greater than the permissible exposure level (3 ppm) up to 2 km downwind under worst-case meteorological conditions (F Stability). In contrast to the general feeling that hydrazine degrades in the presence of atmospheric oxygen, studies show hydrazine is relatively stable in both air (t1/2 approximately 6 h) and oxygenated aqueous solutions (t1/2 approximately 5 d). The toxicity and stable character of hydrazine in the environment required quick and thorough management of any accidental spills to preclude hazards to personnel and serious environmental degradation. The Air Force has established comprehensive containment and treatment procedures which will be used in the event of inadvertent releases of hydrazine from the EPU or during handling or transport of the bulk fuel. The simple spill management procedures used to support the F-16 aircraft EPU are described.

More info about the F-16 EPU:

1 Why is it there? Isn't there a Ram Air Turbine to provide electrical power in the event of an engine or generator failure?

It's there for the stated name - An emergency and it provides power. No there is not a RAM air turbine to provide electrical power.

2 How does it work?

It provides power in modes. Bleed Air (that is it is augmented by bleed air from the engine) Or Hydrazine in this mode it uses the Hydrazine (H-70) from the tank located in the right strake, there is a process that uses nitrogen to turn the liquid H-70 into a gas and turn the turbine as the gas is expelled out the right lower strake. In the Bleed air mode the operation of the EPU is greatly extened, however if hydraulic pressure falls below a predetermined pressure the H-70 will begin to flow at greater amounts and provide the needed hydraulic and electrical power in order to fly the jet. In the H-70 only mode you have approximatly 10 minutes of operation from the EPU.

3 Why use hydrazine? I assume it's the fuel for the EPU, but if that's the case, couldn't something less toxic be used?

[No answer given.]

4 What is meant by "firing" the EPU and how is it pinned safe? Is it similar to an ejection seat in that way?

Firing the EPU is accomplish by two means, manually and automaticly. Manuall selection is done by the pilot, and this activates the H-70 only mode and can be terminated manually as well, operation time in this mode is the same as automatic H-70 mode. Automatic H-70 mode is actuated by loss of both hydraulic systems pressure falling below a predetermined pressure, or loss of electrical power. The EPU is safed with a saftey pin on the righ side of the inlet, it's particular location depends on what block you are refering to.

That was from 2004 when it was also understood that Hydrazine represents a threat to the environment, again the question was avoided by the expert relating to "why isn't a less toxic chemical used". IMO way too many training exercises and flase flag drills all going on at the same time. It also does not help that all of the media lies to us 24/7 making it very difficult to understand WTF is going on.
