Mr. De Baets was in charge of interrogating the X-witnesses after they volunteered to give information. The most controversial of them was a young woman originally known only as X1, but whose real name, it emerged, was Regina Louf.

Amid silence and tears during the course of several all-night interrogations, she poured out a terrifying tale of having been sold into prostitution by her grandmother and later introduced into a circle of orgies at which, she said, she had seen young children tortured and murdered.

The other X-witnesses, one of whom worked for the police, told similar stories of childhood abuse, and described hunts at which children were chased through woods with Dobermans.

...He had each of her statements checked out, and discovered that she had inexplicably detailed knowledge of the unsolved murders of two young women in the 1980s that supported the thesis of a conspiracy.

According to the book, the X-witnesses said that the prostitution, or worse, of children was commonplace. Mr. Bille tried to establish how many children had gone missing in Belgium. Several of the prosecutors' offices failed to reply, but the Brussels region reported that 1,300 minors disappeared between 1991 and 1996.

Mr. Dutroux will go on trial, probably in 2001, along with his wife, Michele Martin, and another alleged accomplice, Michel Lelievre. By that time the statute of limitations on most of the unsolved murders described in the book will have run out.

64 babies abused in Amsterdam nurseries, one of which was next door to the "Baby Porn" unit of the paedocriminal Zandvoort network. Marc Dutroux revealed that horror before his arrest. The Dutch police investigated the Martijn group, which had already been exposed in 1998, when Portuguese Justice dismantled a first branch of this network. They had acted on the basis of an address book, which had been forwarded by Marcel Vervloesem of the Morkhoven NGO.

The case was opened in Belgium in 1988,when investigation lead to the kidnappers of a young patient from a hospital in Antwerp. This victim had been taken to a child pornography studio in Berlin. The Dendermonde law court seized an address book that named Martijn and then closed the dossier on the basis of a report made by the Beveren gendarmerie which in turn made the evaluation that address book did not contain any significant information.

However, research led by Marcel Vervloesem on the individuals in this address book revealed a criminal gang of Belgian, Dutch, English and Portuguese citizens, active in the import/export of children for the production of these paedocriminal films. It became known as the Temse/Madeira network from the title of their videotape, which, with the address book, moved the Portuguese to seek their extradition. The authors were arrested, tried and convicted for the abuse of 34 children.

In June 1998, Marcel Vervloesem identified a kidnapped child in Berlin among the victims of Temse/Madeira from his research in Holland. He uncovered the Zandvoort network, which bought photographic material to sell to various magazines. The godfather of this network fled, abandoning his business, 88.539 photographs and his address books, where once more, Martijn is named.

The success of the Portuguese justice forced other Europeans to open their eyes and consider a co-ordinated effort under the name "Operation Cathedral". It took six months for the first case leading in September 1998 to prosecution for the Vuillaume photographs which appeared on sale through the Wonderland network.

Holland and Belgium closed the Zandvoort dossier after a few weeks. However the work continued in Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Poland and almost all international justice systems. European political leaders, however, all agree to turn blind eyes on the voluntary faults of procedures in the Belgian judicial system which stem from their efforts of quasi murder Marcel Vervloesem in prison. They manage to gag him, but they cannot gag the Morkhoven NGO.

The U.S. request has done more for Europe in one month, than EU has managed to do in 22 years. The Dutch justice ordered the arrest of Robert Mikelson on December 7, 2010, but left his husband, Richard Van Olffen, four days to clear the computers. The media calls Mikelson "the Monster of Riga", without explaining why it took them 12 years to feel offended by the pictures of babies ... in the Zandvoort file. The even greater monsters are those who closed their eyes on those rapes. Holland seems to have understood that and has put 500 police officers on the dossier.


The dossier even rebounded in the USA on early November 2010. The U.S. services "Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the "Homeland Security Institute" (HSI), examined the computer of Robert Didua, a 46 year old of Milford in the State of Massachusetts. They found 10.000 images and videos, among which some had been sent from the Netherlands.

The ex-wife of Marc Dutroux was given a 30 year jail sentence. On 10 May 2011, we learn that Michelle Martin, the ex-wife, is to be released after spending only 15 years in jail.

Interesting, but shocking German documentary that delves into three cases of child abuse in France.

Three victims, 'Deborah', 'Robbert' and 'Noemi' tell about their experiences of abuse, and how they were molested in a pedophile network.

Rumours about these pedophile networks are not uncommon. The Casa Pia case in Portugal, the Dutroux case in Belgium, the Franklin affair in the USA and the Zandvoort affair in the Netherlands to name but a few- in all these cases there have been allegations of cover-ups and involvement of people in high societal standing, and investigations seldom lead to a satisfactory result- the Portuguese Casa Pia scandal, where politicians and a national tv-show host were actually convicted, being the proverbial black swan.

Noemi, in this documentary, claims to have met Marc Dutroux, the Belgian pedophile who was convicted for kidnapping and killing several girls in the late 1990's, through her father. If this is true, it is explosive evidence of the case reaching beyond national borders, something that has always been suspected by researchers.

The two girls and the boy's stories are horrible beyond imagination- not only involving abuse, but also child-murders, infant sacrifices and instances of cannibalism. It's tempting to dismiss their stories as the product of imagination, given the trauma they have been through, but it should be stated that these testimonies are very similar to what the 'X-witnesses' in the Dutroux affair claimed.

There is an excellent book, 'the X-files; what Belgium wasn't allowed to know about the Dutroux affair' in which three investigative journalists research the story of Regina Louf, aka witness 'X-1'. She was the first to come forward with her story. Many believed her but then the press instigated a character assassination. The writers of this book however, not only find many credible details in her story, about never resolved murders of young girls in Belgium, but they also show beyond a doubt the whole investigation into the case was deliberately derailed by Belgian Justice.

Five others - not all of them connected to the home - had previously been convicted of a number of sexual assaults as a result of the investigation, and received sentences of up to 15 years in jail.

Police say their three-year investigation, Operation Rectangle, has now ended.

The inquiry faced a series of criticisms, both from leading political figures on the island and from senior officers flown in from the mainland to review its progress. At one point, police said they believed they had recovered the remains of a child from the cellar of the home, only to later admit what they had thought to be a fragment of skull was a piece of coconut shell.

Despite the criticism, evidence of widespread abuse at the home was discovered: as well as the seven people convicted, police gathered evidence that could have led to the prosecution of a further 30 people who died before they could be brought before the courts.

Jordan and her husband, both 62, from Kirriemuir, Angus, were found guilty in November of eight separate charges.
