Earthquake caused boom in N.E. Philly

A 1.7 magnitude earthquake caused the rumbling boom reported by dozens in Northeast Philadelphia late Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said Saturday. No significant damage was reported.

The micro temblor - which some said could be felt as far away as Bensalem - struck just after 9:30 p.m. with an epicenter just blocks from Franklin Mills Mall.

While government seismologists originally said Friday than an earthquake wasn't to blame for the loud boom reported by residents near the intersection of Knights and Fairdale Roads, they revised their findings on their website Saturday.

Neighbors gather after experiencing a small earthquake in Northeast Philadelphia near Knights… A 1.7 magnitude earthquake caused the rumbling boom reported by dozens in Northeast Philadelphia late Friday, the U.S. Friday's quake is the second to hit the Philadelphia area this month. The survey recorded a 1.9 magnitude disturbance May 10 in Westampton Township.

I live right across the river from Philly on the Jersey side. This is pretty unusual. The local news reported a tornado occurred only about 2 days before, and about 2 miles away from the area that experienced the  "earthquake". Who knows what is really going on?

Well, in Set 12 2009 we, in Caracas. Vzla, hit the jackpot

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5pE03BJEHw&feature=related

In the same day, in the same hour and in the same very minute, hail, heavy showers, very strong winds and a 6.2 magnitude Ritcher scale shake paid a visit to our geographically tight valley.

Not sure but I doubt those as "natural" events.
