Hate Crime Charges in Maryland McDonald's Beating Caught On Video

A Baltimore County grand jury has indicted two teens in a beating of a transgender woman at a McDonald's restaurant that was caught on video.

The indictment returned Monday charges Teonna Brown with assault and hate crime in the attack on Chrissy Lee Polis at the restaurant last month. She is also charged with assaulting a customer and a McDonald's employee who tried to intervene.

A 14-year-old girl is facing the same charges in juvenile court. Both are being held.

A videotape of the April 18 beating posted online shows a woman being attacked repeatedly while an employee and customer try to stop them and the woman apparently having a seizure.

The State's Attorney's office says after a review of the evidence, no one else will be charged.

Woman Pleads Guilty In McDonald's Beating
Transgendered Woman Assaulted In Rosedale Incident


The woman caught on tape brutally beating a transgendered woman at a Rosedale McDonald's has pleaded guilty to the attack.

Teonna Brown, 18, pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of first-degree assault and one count of a hate crime in the attack of 22-year-old Chrissy Polis.

The incident, which occurred in April, gained nationwide attention after a McDonald's employee recorded the beating and posted it online.

Brown will be sentenced in September.

Woman Sentenced To 5 Years In McDonald’s Transgender Attack

A woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison with five years suspended for her role in the beating of a transgender woman inside a Rosedale McDonald’s earlier this year.

Teonna Brown, 19, pleaded guilty after she was caught on tape viciously attacking 22-year-old Chrissy Polis.

All but five years was suspended. Brown will serve three years probation when she is released.

In court, Brown issued an apology to the victim.

Thanks for posting Dok I was just about to update this post my self. I am very surprised this was considered a hate crime. Not because it shouldn't or should be, but because the victim was a white transgendered person. 5 years seems a little bit lax, but the offender is underage.
