OH really? Boy does that need to be done! Alex needs to look into what the government has done and is doing via the Dept. Of Reeducation as a result of the law passed against private college lenders. The new thug on the block is ECMC, which is taking over the CSAC/Edfund student loans.

These thugs are taking people's tax returns and defaulting student loans that are in good standing by causing the loans to default when they transfer the loans to ECMC and not informing the students of the change when the loans are in forebearence. They did it to my wife and several of her coworkers who went to a school that was using CSAC originally. We had two different lawyers tell us there is no way ECMC would take tax returns because they aren't allowed. Technically they didn't. It was done under the name of the Dept. of Education. They took our tax refund of over $2900 and the lawyers said they wouldn't. WRONG! And they also claim that her original loan of about $6000 is now up to over $10,000 because of fines and late fees. To make matters even worse, ECMC isn't communicating with the designated collection agencies, so students are being harrassed from both ends.

Just look up RipoffReports commments about ECMC. This whole deal needs some serious attention as that ECMC is outright stealing from people because they are now holding all those student loans they got from CSAC, which amount to about 38 BILLION in student loans.

That's precisely what university in the UK is turning into. They want it both ways, government funding and high fees. With so-called grants for the poor, which never materialised in my case.

No, it shows how college is a huge ponzi scheme to get people into huge amounts of debts--that in most cases, they can never pay back--they mortgage their future.  Most of the college education is the service sector and not producing anything.  The only way a country can success is if they make something or produce something.  The only reason our economy is still steady is because the dollar is used as the world currency--when that goes away, so does our economy.

Yeah, they don't address the real issue of how the government has taken over the college loan situation and they don't offer a solution to dealing with the out of control price increases by the colleges. The state university system here has raised tuition multiple times in the last 3 years alone. The last increase proposed is nearly 19%.

The hand over of all those loans needs to be look into as well. The state of California just last year handed over their loans to ECMC via EdFund and they are now going after students by at best underhanded tactics including stealing people's tax refunds. They didn't bother to notify people of the change which caused all loans in forearence to default without the students knowing it, so the next thing they know, they are having tax refunds taken by the Dept. of Education and then given over to ECMC who now is in charge of about 38 BILLION in student loans. They say the government is taking over the loans, but ECMC isn't government at all, they are a private company (along with their private collection agencies) that handles among other things, bankruptcys of all things.

Excellent documentary!

It's all so simple. A controlled/managed economy versus a free/natural economy based on true supply and demand is is a fake ponzie scheme, because every time something doesn't go as planned, TPTB try to tweak things and all that does is screw up some other aspect of the economy. Furthermore, fake economies attract crooks and takers who can operate behind the scenes whereas an unmolested free market balances itself and abhors/punishes liars and cheaters.

The brainwashed mentality that we need statism or the shit will hit the fan is more than just a cop-out: it represents a false understanding of liberty.

Another great point in the film is that lawyers and bankers will face a 90% reduction in business over the coming decade. Wouldn't that be wonderful!

As for the idea of college, higher learning is an essential thing but you have to get it outside of the College Industrial Complex (as they say in the film), which is no different than almost every industry in the "civilized world": fake, fake, fake. Utter bullshit that only exists because of the Media Industrial Complex.

Now we need someone to tackle the eugenics aspect: grading on looks. In many cases huge academic frauds are committed in this way and someone needs to make them explain how this is justifiable.

My son starts in the fall, and costs are so outrageous, that he is working 2 jobs this summer to pay.  Luckily he did get a couple of scholarships (one from a VERY BIG NAME COMPANY) but that still does not even cover 1/4 of the cost.  Ridiculous.  Hoping his sophomore year he won't have to take ANY loans, since we won't have to pay the UNBELIEVABLE amounts for housing/meal plan/etc that you MUST take as a freshman.  I don't pay that much to rent my 3/2 HOUSE...and he gets a room and has to share a bathroom!   It's very obviously a huge racket/ponzi scheme/etc.

I have to agree with you.  I noticed myself that higher you climbed they more they told you what to think and how to behave.   Too many procedures are not in my rebelitarian nature.  Science has its discipline but college has way too many procedures to ever do anything contructive anymore.
