President Obama’s criminal launch of an undeclared and Congressionally unauthorized war against Libya may be compounded by the crime of spreading toxic uranium oxide in populated areas of that country.

This is latest concern of groups like the International Coalition to Ban Uranium Weapons, which monitor the military use of so-called depleted-uranium (DU) anti-tank and bunker-penetrating shells.

Images of Libyan civilians and rebels celebrating around the burning hulks of the Libyan army’s tanks and armored personnel carriers, which had been hit by US, French and British aircraft ordnance in the early hours of the US-led assault on the forces of Col. Muammar Gaddafy, could well have been unknowingly inhaling the deadly dust of the uranium weapons favored by Western military forces for anti-tank warfare.

Specifically, the British-built Harrier jets used by British naval air forces and also by US Marine pilots, are often equipped with pod-mounted cannons that fire 20 mm shells--shells that often have uranium projectiles designed to penetrate heavy armor.

So far, the US has not introduced its A-10 Thunderbolts, known also as Warthogs, into the Libyan campaign, probably because these sub-sonic, straight-wing craft, while heavily armored, are vulnerable to shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles which Libyan forces are known to possess in large numbers. Once the air-control situation is improved by continued bombardment, however, these specialized ground-attack aircraft will probably be added to the attacking forces. The A-10 has a particularly large automatic cannon which fires an unusually large 30 mm shell. These shells are often fitted with solid uranium projectiles for attacking tanks, APCs or groups of fighters holed up in concrete bunkers.

A-10s were heavily used in the Balkan conflict, and officials of Kosovo were dismayed to learn that some 11 tons of uranium weapons were fired there, leaving dangerous uranium dust fallout in their wake.

The US military is fond of DU weapons because the material, made from uranium from which the fissionable U-235 has been removed, because it is extremely heavy, and, in alloy form, also extremely hard. Because of its mass, such projectiles can penetrate even the heaviest armor. Then, in the heat caused by the collision with an object, the uranium bursts into flame at extreme heat, causing an explosive (and toxic) inferno inside a tank or other vehicle, which usually also ignites any ammunition being carried. Soldiers inside a target vehicle are incinerated. The problem is that the resulting uranium oxide produced by such explosions, besides being highly toxic chemically, is also a microscopic alpha-emitter, which if inhaled or ingested by human beings is extremely carcinogenic and mutagenic.

Cities in Iraq where DU weapons were heavily used, such as Basra, Samara, Baghdad, Mosul and probably especially Fallujah, which was virtually leveled in a November 2004 Marine assault, are showing high rates of birth defects, many of which, along with unusually high rates of leukemia, medical experts say are emblematic of fetal radiation damage.

A University of Michigan peer-reviewed study of births in Fallujah published in December 2010 found that of 547 births in Fallujah General Hospital in May of 2010, six years after the all-out US assault on that city of 300,000, in which DU weapons were reportedly used widely, 15% of babies had birth defects--a rate more than five times higher than the global average of 2-3%.

It would be a tragic irony if rebels in Libya, after calling for assistance from the US and other NATO countries, succeeded in overthrowing the country’s long-time tyrant Gaddafy, only to have their country contaminated by uranium dust--the fate already suffered by the peoples of Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo.

In the first 24 hours of the Libyan attack, US B-2s dropped forty-five 2,000-pound bombs. These massive bombs, along with the Cruise missiles launched from British and French planes and ships, all contained depleted uranium (DU) warheads.

DU is the waste product from the process of enriching uranium ore. It is used in nuclear weapons and reactors. Because it is a very heavy substance, 1.7 times denser than lead, it is highly valued by the military for its ability to punch through armored vehicles and buildings. When a weapon made with a DU tip strikes a solid object like the side of a tank, it goes straight through it, then erupts in a burning cloud of vapor. The vapor settles as dust, which is not only poisonous, but also radioactive.

An impacting DU missile burns at 10,000 degrees C. When it strikes a target, 30% fragments into shrapnel. The remaining 70% vaporises into three highly-toxic oxides, including uranium oxide. This black dust remains suspended in the air and, according to wind and weather, can travel over great distances. If you think Iraq and Libya are far away, remember that radiation from Chernobyl reached Wales.

Particles less than 5 microns in diameter are easily inhaled and may remain in the lungs or other organs for years. Internalized DU can cause kidney damage, cancers of the lung and bone, skin disorders, neurocognitive disorders, chromosome damage, immune deficiency syndromes and rare kidney and bowel diseases. Pregnant women exposed to DU may give birth to infants with genetic defects. Once the dust has vaporised, don't expect the problem to go away soon. As an alpha particle emitter, DU has a half life of 4.5 billion years.

In the 'shock and awe' attack on Iraq, more than 1,500 bombs and missiles were dropped on Baghdad alone. Seymour Hersh has claimed that the US Third Marine Aircraft Wing alone dropped more than "five hundred thousand tons of ordnance". All of it DU-tipped.

Al Jazeera reported that invading US forces fired two hundred tons of radioactive material into buildings, homes, streets and gardens of Baghdad. A reporter from the Christian Science Monitor took a Geiger counter to parts of the city that had been subjected to heavy shelling by US troops. He found radiation levels 1,000 to 1,900 times higher than normal in residential areas. With its population of 26 million, the US dropped a one-ton bomb for every 52 Iraqi citizens or 40 pounds of explosives per person.

William Hague has said that we are in Libya " to protect civilians and civilian-populated areas".You don't have to look far for who and what are being 'protected'.

In that first 24 hours the 'Allies' 'expended' $100 million on DU-tipped ordnance. The European Union's arms control report said member states issued licences in 2009 for the sale of $293.2 million worth of weapons and weapons systems to Libya. Britain issued arms firms licences for the sale of $21.7 million worth of weaponry to Libya and were also paid by Colonel Gadaffi to send the SAS to train his 32nd Brigade.

For the next 4.5 billion years, I'll bet that William Hague will not be holidaying in North Africa.

Here is a list of the General Dynamic SuperFund sites. GE shares many of them. GE manufactures the 22 foot long "gattling gun" for the A-10 Warthog. It only uses 12" Depleted Uranium Shell. The A-10 is the primary source for "spreading" Depleted Uranium throught Iraq and Afghanistan. AT last count, the A-10's have spread nearly 465,000 tons of "GE.NBC Nuclear Manure". The equivalent radiation dose 130,000 Hiroshima bombs.

The Gun is 22 feet long, has twelve barrels, fires 1700 rounds per minute. All the Shells come from Nuclear Waste of General Electric and Westinghouse at TVA storage, Ky, Ohio & Tenn. Basically, we're using Nuclear Waste like Farmers use "Manure Spreaders". Farmer's Bring Life..GE "Spreading Death With Nuclear Manure"!

This is what one round looks like. This machine can fire up to 3,900 rounds per minute.  A round this size is NOT designed to kill a human, unless the human is inside a "machine". It is designed to "optimize" the maxium amount of "uranium" that can be packed into.  In other words, it is literally, specifically engineered to transfer tons of Rockefeller's "poison" from the US to the Middle East.  He has ALL the aircraft he needs for the job...he just needs "a broader war" to spread "the love that is US foreign policy" more evenly.

This is what a full load looks like.  I believe it's 12,000 pounds of "depleted uranium".  USAF wags call it "depleting iranians".  Just for the record, the British Royal Family holds the last remaining patent in the invention of "Plutonium".  My guess is that the UK is insisting that the US act as their proxy for stopping Iran from infringing on their patent rights by "recycling" Plutonium out of "used Nuclear fuel".

Yes, it's that big.  The A-10 was engineered AROUND the gattling gun.

There are three depleted uranium storage yards in the US.  All belong to Senator Rockefeller & David Rockefeller, General Electric/NBC and it's subsidiaries.  They call it the "The Today Show...because there may never be a Tomorrow!"

The storage site at Portsmouth, Ohio.  Most of this waste comes from GE/NBC facilities.

This is a photo of Madame Marie Curie.  She and her husband discovered "radium and "polonium".  Radium is just another word for "uranium". She died of Leukemia due to her exposure to uranium. Her husband also died of uranium poisoning.

Birth defects in Afghanistan.  The Bush administration and "Chevron" which is the old Standard Oil Cartel...owned by Rockefeller fully intend to "spread" the Nuclear "wealth" throughout the Middle East.  We just need an "excuse" to get us in there! Iran...you're next!

The world’s largest company by market share, General Electric’s revenues in 2003 totaled $134.2 billion. GE was run until 2001 by “Neutron” Jack Welch, who made it a matter of principle to lay off 10% of his workers per year.

General Electric makes household appliances, plastics, water treatment systems, lighting, medical equipment, and commercial financial services. It also makes aircraft engines and nuclear reactors, and keeps criticism at bay with its ownership of media giants NBC, CNBC, Telemundo, Bravo, and, in partnership with Microsoft, msnbc.com. GE’s recent partnership with Vivendi added Universal Studios, USA, Trio and Sci-fi cable channels to its $43 billion media empire.

General Electric is one of the world’s top three producers of jet engines, supplying Boeing, Lockheed Martin and other military aircraft makers for the powering of airplanes and helicopters. The “war on terrorism” has seen GE’s military contracts rise substantially. But the company’s “defense” side has been doing well for a while. GE and other military contractors got a big boost under the Clinton administration from Presidential Directive 41 which stated that it was the job of US diplomats to promote arms sales abroad in order to safeguard American jobs; this directive tied the promotions of diplomats to how effectively they hocked US armaments.

GE has designed 91 nuclear power plants in 11 countries, yet its nuclear reactors around the world have a fatal flaw. In the event of a nuclear meltdown, there is a 90 percent chance that radiation from GE-designed reactors would be discharged directly into the atmosphere. While the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission is aware of the problem, it continues to license GE nuclear reactors. GE’s history with nuclear power is an ugly one.

In the 1940s-1960s the company ran experiments on humans with radiation, including irradiating the reproductive organs of prison inmates in Walla Walla, Washington, without warning them of the risk of cancer. Other tests were run on the elderly and hospital patients. General Electric intentionally released large amounts of radiation into the air from the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Richland, in order to see the distance it would travel. These atrocities were revealed in hearings in 1986 held by Representative Edward Markey of Massachusetts.

The company has also been accused of knowingly poisoning its workers at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Schenectady, New York with radiation and asbestos.

General Electric is currently attempting to overturn the US Superfund Law of 1980, which allows the government to hold polluters responsible for cleaning up their toxic chemicals. GE argues that it is “unconstitutional” for the Environmental Protection Agency to force the company to pay $500 million for the cleanup of the Hudson River, where GE dumped carcinogenic PCBs, or polychlorinated biphenyls, over three decades. In March 2004, a federal appeals court has revived GE’s lawsuit. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that GE is trying to change the Superfund Law: the company is responsible for 78 Superfund sites around the US. It’s clearly not safe to be a worker for GE either. The US government’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, has cited the company for 858 workplace safety violations from 1990-2001.

General Electric has been involved in so many cases of fraud that in the 1990s the Pentagon's Defense Contract Management Agency created a special investigations office specifically for the company, which indicted GE on 22 criminal counts and recovered $221.7 million. In one case, in 1992, GE entered a guilty plea to criminal and civil charges for defrauding the Pentagon in a case where money was funneled to the Israeli military. GE was fined $69 million for violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

GE’s financial division has been another area ripe for fraud. GE was fined $100 million for trying to get bankrupt creditors to pay without informing the bankruptcy courts, in effect paying debts that they no longer legally owed. Not surprisingly, General Electric is the financial backer of WorldCom, the telecom company whose massive fraud and creative accounting led to the largest bankruptcy in US history.The company has been involved in countless scandals, but strangely enough, they don’t seem to affect General Electric’s ability to win government contracts – but then, this is typical of all military contractors. According to a survey by the Center for Public Integrity, from 1990-2002, 30 of the US government’s top contractors were found guilty of fraud in 400 cases, leading to settlements and fines amounting to at least $3.4 billion. General Electric paid $982.9 million for 63 cases in this period.

Such repeated behavior and continued contracts wouldn’t be possible without friends in high places, of which General Electric. GE spent more than $31 million in 2001 and 2002 lobbying lawmakers; in 2000 it spent $16 million. Reigning CEO Jack Welch had enormous influence and was consistently ranked CEO of the Year by the slavish business press; he was major Republican donor as well. GE director Sam Nunn was senator for Georgia for 27 years, and also sits on the boards of ChevronTexaco. GE’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel and Secretary, Benjamin W. Heineman, used to work for the US government’s Department of Health, Education and Welfare. General Electric said Wednesday that the federal government had agreed to insure as much as $139 billion in debt for its lending subsidiary, GE Capital. This is the second time in a month that G.E. has turned to a federal program aimed at helping companies during the global credit crisis. GE Capital is not a bank, but granting it access to a new program from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation may reassure investors and help the lender compete with banks that already have government-protected debt, a G.E. spokesman, Russell Wilkerson, told Bloomberg News. “Inclusion in this program will allow us to source our debt competitively with other participating financial institutions,” Mr. Wilkerson said. The F.D.I.C. program covers about $139 billion of G.E.’s debt, or 125 percent of total senior unsecured debt outstanding as of Sept. 30 and maturing by June 30. G.E. sent investors an e-mail letter about the program on Wednesday and posted the letter on its Web site. “Our participation is a positive development for our investors,” it said. G.E.’s finance businesses are able to seek F.D.I.C. debt coverage because its GE Capital subsidiary also owns a federal savings bank and an industrial loan company, both of which already qualify. Last month, G.E. started using a new Federal Reserve program aimed at reviving demand for the commercial paper for a wide variety of companies.

President Obama has a new economic advisor, GE CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt, who will run Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, succeeding Paul A. Volcker. Immelt has been an outspoken advocate for clean energy, which he views as a boon both to his company, which produces wind turbines and other energy infrastructure products, and for the economy. Obama wants the council to "focus its work on finding new ways to encourage the private sector to hire and invest in American competitiveness." That could mean a renewed focus on green jobs and a price on carbon.

Immelt was an influential voice in USCAP, the coalition of business and environmental groups that tried to get a cap-and-trade bill through Congress. He has been quoted many times saying that a price on carbon will increase American competitiveness and help spark an energy revolution.

Immelt traveled with the President to India in November, when GE announced a $750 million order from India's Reliance Power for GE steam turbines.

Perhaps Immelt's influence will reignite the passion in the White House for comprehensive energy reform, including a price on carbon. A scan of Obama's top advisors reveals a cadre that are in favor of strong climate action, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, DOE Secretary Stephen Chu, and EPA head Lisa Jackson. The challenge of working with House Republicans remains, but Immelt should be another voice for action now.

General Electric owns much of the the Security and medical operations equipment contracts for the over 800 US Concentration Camps and the propaganda that will be used to assist in forcing varous racial groups into these death camps. MSNBC, owned by GE who also owns a large share of The History Channel, runs 8 hours a day of programming on what life is like in prison.  The point of the multiple documentaries to be aired for 8 hours every day it to allow the viewer to assimilate with the conditions in a concentration camp.  They show the priisoners having individuality and coping successfully with prison life.  They show how they can still develop relationships, still get an education, develop cliques, etc.   The whole point of this is a contracted psyops programming so that when they throw you and your family into the concentration camps, you will feel like it is normal after watching 8 hours a day of it. Out of all the MSNBC Documentaries, Lock Up comprises of an overwhelming majority of their production costs and scheduling.

Now lockup may be an ok program, but 20 full documentaries is not meant to learn about the issues of prisons.  These psyops videos are used to condition us. GE has a direct conflict of interest to reveal the truth about continuity of government, the current recession, false flag terrorism, who are the best statesmen running for president and of course...9/11.  The recession, the devaluation of the dollar, the fake war on terrorism (most importantly the lies about 9/11), and the disinformation about who the true presidential candidates are being used to get us into martial law and GE/MSNBC owns the propaganda and many of the security contracts for that martial law. So if GE actually told the truth about 9/11, they would have most of their funds cut. It is a simple matter of fascist elitests v. the American people and the victims (which everyone now is).

At the time of writing there is no definitive evidence that depleted uranium munitions have been used in joint US, UK, French and Italian attacks on Libya. However there is potential for them to be used and ICBUW reminds belligerents of their obligations under IHL.21 March 2011 - ICBUW

ICBUW is concerned that the current use of US Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier ground attack aircraft could lead to DU contamination should their cannon be deployed against ground targets. ICBUW is also concerned that the potential for contamination may increase significantly as the conflict develops if US Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt ground attack aircraft are deployed.

The majority of platforms that fire DU are land-based, although some air and sea-based platforms have also been developed. The only air-based platforms currently in service with the countries currently involved in the conflict are the US A-10 Thunderbolt and the AV-8B Harrier.


AV-8B Harrier

The AV-8B Harrier is fielded by the US Marine Corps, and is known to have fired around 11 tons (9,979kg) of DU during the 1991 Gulf War. The AV-8B fires 20mm ammunition from a rotary cannon mounted in a twin pod on the underside of the aircraft. A range of ammunition is available for this cannon, and the DU based round, the PGU-20/U Armour Piercing Incendiary (API) round is said by some sources to have been taken out of service. However, recent US federal procurement documents describe it as being in the Department of Defence’s inventory, so its use in the current conflict cannot be ruled out.

A US Marines press release on the 20th March stated that AV-8B Harriers from the 26th Marine Expeditionary unit, based on USS Kearsarge attacked ground forces and air defences in Libya. While dropping aerial munitions is more likely to have taken place than the cannon being used in strafing runs, it remains possible that these aircraft have deployed, or will deploy, DU weapons.

A10-Thunderbolt

The A-10 fires a mixture of DU-based armour piercing, and non-DU high explosive rounds from a rotary cannon mounted below the cockpit. The A-10 is the platform responsible for most of the DU fired in Iraq in both 1991 and 2003, and all of the DU fired in the Balkans.

At present there are no reports that the A-10 has been deployed in the current hostilities, but its cannon was designed for attacking armoured vehicles, so it is a possible contender for future deployment.

However, the A-10s slow speed and short range mean it is not likely to be deployed in this phase of the conflict. At present, air attacks are being undertaken from long distances and forces loyal to Moammar Ghadaffi are thought to be in possession of considerable quantities of man portable surface to air missiles, to which the A-10 is vulnerable.

Bunker busters and cruise missiles

It has long been alleged that DU, or even enriched uranium, is used in US 'bunker busters’ and other large air-launched bombs and missiles. ICBUW has followed-up all allegations of this sort in detail, and is yet to have found compelling evidence to substantiate these allegations. While cruise missiles have been fitted with dummy DU warheads to simulate nuclear warheads during testing, and some ground penetrating nuclear weapons have utilised a DU warhead, ICBUW believes that claims for the widespread use of uranium in these applications remain highly speculative.

As such, ICBUW does not have any reason to believe that any weapons of this sort containing DU have been fielded in the current conflict.

Legality of the use of depleted uranium

Although the French, British, US and Italian actions have approval from the UN Security Council, the mandate under resolution 1973 is for the protection of civilians. Furthermore, all belligerents are bound by the conventions of International Humanitarian Law, including the obligation to protect civilians from harm during conflict. The use of weapons such as depleted uranium, which cause long-lasting contamination and present a hazard to combatants and non-combatants alike, run contrary to these obligations, and should not be countenanced in any conflict, particularly by parties who claim their motivation is the protection of civilians.

ICBUW repeats calls for warring parties to affirm publically that they will not use DU weapons in this conflict, and urges all sides to abide by their obligations under International Humanitarian Law to protect civilian life.

The New York Times unloads a fantastic piece of reporting on General Electric and taxes this morning. It’s an ugly portrait of GE and the political system it’s helped create.

David Kocieniewski zeroes in on GE’s tax avoidance, which is a proud corporate strategy at Obama appointee Jeff Immelt’s company, which earned $14.2 billion globally last year but paid no taxes in the U.S. It actually had a negative U.S. tax rate last year, since it got a $3.2 billion American tax benefit. Over the last five years, GE made $26 billion in what it says were American profits, but got the IRS to pay it $4.1 billion total. Astonishing.

How does that happen?

The Times is excellent on that, using reporting on Representative Charlie Rangel, the, um, ethics-challenged Democrat from New York to give us a look at how the sausage is made. Here’s Kocieniewski’s telling of what happened when Rangel and the Dems threatened to yank one of GE’s richest tax breaks:
The head of its tax team, Mr. Samuels, met with Representative Charles B. Rangel, then chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, which would decide the fate of the tax break. As he sat with the committee’s staff members outside Mr. Rangel’s office, Mr. Samuels dropped to his knee and pretended to beg for the provision to be extended — a flourish made in jest, he said through a spokeswoman.


That day, Mr. Rangel reversed his opposition to the tax break, according to other Democrats on the committee.

The following month, Mr. Rangel and Mr. Immelt stood together at St. Nicholas Park in Harlem as G.E. announced that its foundation had awarded $30 million to New York City schools, including $11 million to benefit various schools in Mr. Rangel’s district. Joel I. Klein, then the schools chancellor, and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, who presided, said it was the largest gift ever to the city’s schools.

That would be very interesting if that were all there was, but here’s where it becomes a thing of beauty:
G.E. officials say that neither Mr. Samuels nor any lobbyists working on behalf of the company discussed the possibility of a charitable donation with Mr. Rangel. The only contact was made in late 2007, a company spokesman said, when Mr. Immelt called to inform Mr. Rangel that the foundation was giving money to schools in his district.

In an interview this month, Mr. Rangel offered a different version of events — saying he didn’t remember ever discussing it with Mr. Immelt and was unaware of the foundation’s donation until the mayor’s office called him in June, before the announcement and after Mr. Rangel had dropped his opposition to the tax break.

Asked to explain the discrepancies between his accounts, Mr. Rangel replied, “I have no idea.”

It’s worth noting that Kocieniewski has made something of a living the last few years on the Charlie Rangel corruption beat, with a number of bigtime exposés that cost the congressman his chairmanship of the powerful Ways and Means committee and got him censured by the House. Add another one to that growing list.

So Rangel’s claims here, then, wouldn’t be very credible even if the Times hadn’t caught him saying the direct opposite thing three years ago.

Indeed, a look back at one of Kocieniewski’s big scoops from 2008, shows Rangel doing something similar on the CCNY solicitation:

Rangel is a mostly washed up politician, though. The important thing here is that huge, wealthy American corporations are getting by with paying no taxes, and how the tax system incentivizes lending:
That pendulum began to swing back in the late 1990s. G.E. and other financial services firms won a change in tax law that would allow multinationals to avoid taxes on some kinds of banking and insurance income. The change meant that if G.E. financed the sale of a jet engine or generator in Ireland, for example, the company would no longer have to pay American tax on the interest income as long as the profits remained offshore.

Known as active financing, the tax break proved to be beneficial for investment banks, brokerage firms, auto and farm equipment companies, and lenders like GE Capital. This tax break allowed G.E. to avoid taxes on lending income from abroad, and permitted the company to amass tax credits, write-offs and depreciation. Those benefits are then used to offset taxes on its American manufacturing profits.

G.E. subsequently ramped up its lending business.

To put it another way: GE gets out of paying American taxes by lending to foreign companies, which means American taxpayers are indirectly subsidizing those foreign loans (while the company, the NYT is excellent to note, has been slashing its American workforce).

According to The New York Times, General Electric made $14.2 billion in profit last year, $5.1 billion of which came from its operations in the United States. But it turns out that not only did G.E. not pay any money in taxes, instead raking in another $3.2 billion in tax benefits.

A Green Light to Invade Israel?

The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that the Obama administration is supporting the implementation of a United Nations doctrine that would approve military action in order to prevent genocide. While not legally required to act, the countries supporting the doctrine (including the U.S., China, and Russia) have all expressed the political will to act in the case of genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, or crimes against humanity.

While sounding well intentioned, I fear that the Obama administration and every Israel-hating member of the United Nations will use this doctrine as a weapon against Israel.

Prior to Obama’s election, many concerned about his stance on matters relating to Israel looked to an interview given by his chief foreign policy adviser at the time, Samantha Power (note: Cass Sunstein's wife), in which she stated that
a military invasion of Israel may be necessary
in order to create a Palestinian state and prevent genocide. Ms. Power, who is now the director of multilateral affairs at the National Security Council, stated:

“In the Palestine [sic] and Israeli situation, there’s an abundance of information and what we don’t need is some kind of early warning mechanism. What we need is a willingness to actually put something on the line and sort of helping the situation. And putting something on the line might mean alienating a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import. It may more crucially mean sacrificing or investing, I think, more than sacrificing, literally billions of dollars not in servicing Israeli’s [sic] military but actually investing in the new state of Palestine. In investing billions of dollars it will probably take also to support, I think, what will have to be a mammoth protection force…a meaningful military presence because it seems to me at this stage and this is true of actual genocides as well and not just major human rights abuses which we’re seeing there, but is that you have to go in as if you’re serious. You have to put something on the line and unfortunately imposition of a solution on unwilling parties…Unfortunately, it does require external intervention…”

So here we have a high ranking member of the Obama administration who believes that “major human rights abuses” are occurring in Israel and that in order to correct that situation, military aid to Israel should cease. Instead, this high ranking government official is advising the President that US taxpayer dollars should be used to invest in “Palestine” and to sustain a military presence in Israel in order to impose her ideology on a US ally.

America’s decision to support military action against the Ghadaffi regime in Libya was heavily influenced by Samantha Power, the Irish-born National Security Council special advisor to President Obama on human rights.

Power and UN Ambassador Susan Rice were named by The New York Times as the two key figures who convinced first Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and then President Obama to commit to force.

The Times reported that “The change became possible, though, only after Mrs. Clinton joined Samantha Power, a senior aide at the National Security Council, and Susan Rice, Mr. Obama’s ambassador to the United Nations, who had been pressing the case for military action, according to senior administration officials speaking only on condition of anonymity.

“Ms. Power is a former journalist and
human rights advocate;
Ms. Rice was an Africa adviser to President Clinton when the United States
failed to intervene to stop the Rwanda genocide,
which Mr. Clinton has called his biggest regret."

Ironically, Power was fired from the Obama campaign during the 2008 campaign for harsh criticism of Clinton during an interview she gave to a reporter in Scotland.

In that interview she said about Mrs Clinton: "She is a monster, too — that is off the record — she is stooping to anything... if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective. The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive."

Power is originally from Dublin and moved to Georgia when she was ten. She was previously a lecturer at Harvard on Human Rights and won the Pulitizer Prize for her book on genocide.

From 1993 to 1996, she worked as a journalist, covering the Yugoslav wars for U.S. News & World Report, The Boston Globe, The Economist, and The New Republic.

In the first 24 hours of the Libyan attack, US B-2s dropped forty-five 2,000-pound bombs. These massive bombs, along with the Cruise missiles launched from British and French planes and ships, all contained depleted uranium (DU) warheads.

DU is the waste product from the process of enriching uranium ore. It is used in nuclear weapons and reactors. Because it is a very heavy substance, 1.7 times denser than lead, it is highly valued by the military for its ability to punch through armored vehicles and buildings. When a weapon made with a DU tip strikes a solid object like the side of a tank, it goes straight through it, then erupts in a burning cloud of vapor. The vapor settles as dust, which is not only poisonous, but also radioactive.

An impacting DU missile burns at 10,000 degrees C. When it strikes a target, 30% fragments into shrapnel. The remaining 70% vaporises into three highly-toxic oxides, including uranium oxide. This black dust remains suspended in the air and, according to wind and weather, can travel over great distances. If you think Iraq and Libya are far away, remember that radiation from Chernobyl reached Wales.

Particles less than 5 microns in diameter are easily inhaled and may remain in the lungs or other organs for years. Internalized DU can cause kidney damage, cancers of the lung and bone, skin disorders, neurocognitive disorders, chromosome damage, immune deficiency syndromes and rare kidney and bowel diseases. Pregnant women exposed to DU may give birth to infants with genetic defects. Once the dust has vaporised, don't expect the problem to go away soon. As an alpha particle emitter, DU has a half life of 4.5 billion years.

In the 'shock and awe' attack on Iraq, more than 1,500 bombs and missiles were dropped on Baghdad alone. Seymour Hersh has claimed that the US Third Marine Aircraft Wing alone dropped more than "five hundred thousand tons of ordnance". All of it DU-tipped.

Al Jazeera reported that invading US forces fired two hundred tons of radioactive material into buildings, homes, streets and gardens of Baghdad. A reporter from the Christian Science Monitor took a Geiger counter to parts of the city that had been subjected to heavy shelling by US troops. He found radiation levels 1,000 to 1,900 times higher than normal in residential areas. With its population of 26 million, the US dropped a one-ton bomb for every 52 Iraqi citizens or 40 pounds of explosives per person.

William Hague has said that we are in Libya " to protect civilians and civilian-populated areas".You don't have to look far for who and what are being 'protected'.

In that first 24 hours the 'Allies' 'expended' £100 million on DU-tipped ordnance. The European Union's arms control report said member states issued licences in 2009 for the sale of £293.2 million worth of weapons and weapons systems to Libya. Britain issued arms firms licences for the sale of £21.7 million worth of weaponry to Libya and were also paid by Colonel Gadaffi to send the SAS to train his 32nd Brigade.

For the next 4.5 billion years, I'll bet that William Hague will not be holidaying in North Africa.
