'They shoot randomly': US deserter faces death row if Germany rejects asylum

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ut1zDAafJs

A US soldier is seeking political asylum in Germany after deserting an American military base. If extradited to his home country he could face life in prison or even the death penalty. RT's Ekaterina Gracheva met the veteran at the centre of the scandal.

Exaclty, and some folks say why don't the troops( stuck in the sandbox )just put down their guns and go home!!
Front page will be the freaks who were on kill missions, the atrocitys, desertion will not be big time MSM.
Troops  are deserting their posts at the highest rate since 1980, with the number of Army deserters this year showing an 80 percent increase since the United States invaded Iraq in 2003.
While  still  lower than  the Vietnam War,  draft was in effect, they show a steady increase over the past four years and a 42 percent jump since last year.
The joined, ignorent-nieve-kids, they woke up to late, they ran and will continue to hide for the remainder of their lives or face the bullet, prison etc..

If the war wasn't Constitutionally Declared by Congress then it is voluntary right ?

vol·un·tar·y   /ˈvɒlənˌtɛri/  Show Spelled
[vol-uhn-ter-ee]
adjective, noun, plural -tar·ies.
–adjective
1. done, made, brought about, undertaken, etc., of one's own accord or by free choice:

So just as they volunteered and found the wars to be illegal with no Declaration of War by Congress.  Basically they are deserting from an illegal war.

So what's the problem.   Cool

Hi Reb. Whats the problem, there is no problem for you my friend, your awake, you know what its all about, Hey I'm happy for ya..Sincerely, truly..
According to your philosophy, ever kid who joins know exactly whats going on, are mature, informed, were raised in open minded homes,etc.. They simply joined to play Army, go to war, and have a vacation in a war zone.
Have you ever wonder, thought, how many kids are raised in a right wing atmosphere-literally brainwashed in the belief that our Gov is righteous, the military is fighting terroism, the ol right wing effect- for God and country channell. Sure Reb, that is ignorence- and there are kids who fell for it hook line and sinker-look around.
The young who have been raised in slums, ever wonder what its like for a kid to feel he has no chance at a life, homelife is a shhiiithole, no job oportunitys, lining up at a MacDonalds with the other hundred and no chance baby.. They may just say FK it, thats the only FK place I can do something, maby even get an education after, the recruiter told them about all the bennys. I heard a street kid say, better to be dead in a war than here in this shiite.
Ya know Reb, the good thing about this site is we can keep an open mind, understand how things truly are. Can you understand why some join, or what. How come the US Gov instigated a volunteer military, ever wonder why. Unconditional controll, less marchers and demos,= less resistance. The mucks on top arewell aware they would fill the boots, itignorence..

Ironically I watching Joel Osteen and he said nearly the same thing.

I was just trying to point out where his lawyer may have some legal standing.  I was not judging nor condemning him one bit.  Hell I was in his boots once being 19-23 and being naive to politics and the world.

If I was him now I would want a real savvy lawyer not the ones that the military provides.  I wish military lawyers were like the ones in "A Few Good Men".  If fact if that movie demonstrates anything it would be military justice actually working for the good of armed service people.  If anything he's going to need a good civillian lawyer versed in military law.
