I wonder what kind of information Sarkozy has been fed from 'above', because he seems to act, as if he thinks he's groomed for a top slot in the power structure.

And now the arms dealers (France, UK) destroy the military assets with more arms the US taxpayer has to pay.
But we all know how limited the effect of airstrikes is, as soon as they run out of 'juicy' targets after a week of low intensity infrastructure demolition.

If Gaddhafi is alive by the next weekend, we face a different dilemma. Now, the warmongers in Paris, Washington and London can test the interoperability of their NATO forces with very little risk. The outdated libyan air force has accomplished her task before NATO invaded libyan airspace, because they pushed the rebels back.
Todays wars, like all wars in history, are won on the ground. And that's Gadhaffis strongpoint and NATOs weakpoint.
If Gadhaffi were to give out orders to loyal troops to hold position and dismount from mechanized equipment, there's not much NATO can do about it, without breaking the selfimposed constraints of their UN mandate, which btw is Number 1973, when Nixon took the Dollar off the Gold standard, as most here are aware.

This gung-ho intervention in Africas best developed (human development index 2010), oil-rich coutry does not start to make any sense, if it's aim is not to destabilize the whole region. And sure enough, Israel uses the focus of attention resting on Libya  - for now - to put some artillery rounds over the fence into Gaza, as self-defence, of course.
Yemen, Syria, Bahrain are inching towards a civil war of libyan proportions, rather than egyptian relative 'smoothness' in the process.

Russia is not too happy with military interventions by NATO forces and China observes from a distance and doesn't seem too happy, either.

Then there's Germany with a pacifist mindset. They risk a imbalace in the relationship to France under a Sarkozy, who seems to impress himself in the role of a commander in chief.
But I think Germany made a smart move.
Then again, probably Germany just playes their orchestrated role to demonstrate the overall peaceful intend of the europeans, by not manning their Eurofighters.

All Gaddhafi has to to to win is staying alive.
All NATO/UN as organs of shadow interests in the background have to do to win is waste taxpayers money to restock arsenals, bomb infrastructure, and avoid by all costs negative headlines. This war is like the activation energy necessary to start a chemical reaction within the middle east. How can they stop dropping ordonance over Libya, when it's not affecting Gaddhafi and how do they want to sell the excuse not to become active in Yemen, Syria, Bahrain. Or is it the start of a long move towards Iran, on country at a time?

Nayirah (testimony) refers to the controversial testimony given before the non-governmental Congressional Human Rights Caucus on October 10, 1990, by a female who gave only her first name, Nayirah. In 1992, it was revealed that Nayirah's last name was al-Ṣabaḥ Arabic: نيره الصباح‎) and that she was the daughter of the Saud bin Nasir Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti ambassador to the United States. Furthermore, it was revealed that her testimony was organized as part of the Citizens for a Free Kuwait public relations campaign which was run by Hill & Knowlton for the Kuwaiti government.
