Do you think the Weekly Standard has gone soft? Or that National Review is in the tank for Republican leaders? Some tea party activists do and are launching Tea Party Review, a magazine that bills itself as “the first national magazine for, by, and about the Tea Party movement.”

The mock-up cover on the magazine’s website? Sarah Palin.

The monthly — $34.95 for an annual subscription – plans to deliver articles about the movement from the same people who created it: Tea party activists who campaigned for politicians they could call their own.

“People are weary of the distorted version of the tea party movement that we see in most of the media,” said Katrina Pierson, an organizer of the Dallas Tea Party who will serve as the magazine’s national grassroots director. “Tea party members want a magazine for the movement, created by members of the movement.”

The new magazine, edited by Christina Botteri, a tea party organizer, will launch later this week at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington. (The editor listed in the press release is different from the one named on the website – Steven Allen, a senior editor of Conservative Digest who worked on Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaigns in 1976, 1980 and 1984.)

It is published by Higher Standards Publishers, which describes itself as “a niche oriented publishing company.” Its other titles include: “The Tea Party Express Commemorative Journal,” “Confessions of a Black Conservative” and the satirical children’s book “Help! Mom! Radicals are Ruining My Country!”

A disclaimer reads that Palin won't be featured on the first cover. One can hope it stays true to the Libertarian/Ron Paul tenets, but I'm not holding my breath.
