I heard a rumor about how the TSA is going to start scanning laptop hard drives, ipods, and other mobile electronics for information which could incriminate someone as a criminal or terrorist. In direct violation of Fourth amendment as well as many privacy rights.

Just like the VIPR team's asking if you have any "recording devices", and DHS shutting down Thousands of websites for linking to copyrighted material, the whole agenda behind this is to cull copyright infringement/the bastardized distortion of copyright law, and maximize the profits of big corporations. This has very little to do with fighting terrorism, as it does corporate control over government power.

DHS was invasively searching people at the super bowl not for weapons and explosives, but for camcorders, camera phones, and audio recording devices. Since when is intellectual property a matter of national security? Or is this just a clear example of how corporations control the government, and use it to maximize their greedy profits at the detriment to your average citizen.

It's going to come to a point where we'll see airport-like security checkpoints at movie theaters, and the internet will be even more restricted and closely monitored than it is in China and Iran. All in the name of big money and corporate profits!

Why do you care? what are you hiding on your laptop?... im sorry but I have to now... report you to home land security for "suspicious activity". . .  its for your own safety. . .
 Grin

I doubt they would wast the time to scan every laptops hard drive... I wouldn't be surprised if there are some isolated incidents of it happening though. . . the TSA are crazy and out of control... its that Napalitano bitch, shes f**king on crack or something.

What about in the name of deterring film and music piracy, and other copyright infringement? DHS is shutting down Thousands of websites for linking to copyrighted material. Not to mention VIPR teams screening people for recording devices at public events like concerts and professional sports.

Are VIPR teams at malls and movie theaters next?

It definitely feels like megacorp is using DHS to go after music/movie/television pirates in an attempt to maximize their profits. It is important to note that much of the government is controlled by big corporations -- the recent food safety bill is a good example of agricultural conglomerates' vicious attack on small farmers.

An article on infowars not too long ago stated that DHS is shutting down Thousands of websites for simply LINKING to copyrighted material. Pretty soon the American internet will be even more restricted and closely monitored than it is in China and Iran -- the land of the free!

They started doing this in Australia a few years ago.

Since when is intellectual property a matter of national security? Shouldn't DHS be fighting the phony "war on terrorism" and not petty and irrelevant things like film and music piracy?

Here is some good information about how distorted, corrupt, and bastardized copyright law has become in the name of greed and corporate profits.

oh yeah without a doubt. that's what "web 2.0" is all about. control, that's all they want.

i just mean scanning the entire disk of every laptop that goes through the airport, would be a lengthy process at this time, but not surprising.

No one buys CD'S and programs to buy music/movies online are not worth it.... 9/10 films that come out in theater suck.

Do you know that my local movie theater charges 15 to 20$ dollars + TAX for a ticket? and something like 14$ for popcorn and soda? imagine going out for a movie... it could cost you and a chick something like 100$ JUST AT THE THEATER.... I can get a massage and a happy ending for less than that  Roll Eyes   .   .   .

9/10 times ill go view the first 10 minutes of a movie on some streaming sites to see if its even worth going to the theater... most of the time I just x out the movie and go do something else... the movies that have been coming out for the past 2 years are just GARBAGE.... same with a lot of the music... you don't even have to buy the songs, you can listen to them all on you tube.... there are free programs to rip the songs from you tube videos also... who the hell is going to buy music and movies in this economy for 100's of dollars?

Im not advocating stealing entertainment, just showing how ridiculous everything is....

oh yeah without a doubt. that's what "web 2.0" is all about. control, that's all they want.

i just mean scanning the entire disk of every laptop that goes through the airport, would be a lengthy process at this time, but not surprising.

Solution to this is, everyone buy 2 Tera-bite hard drives and fill it with porn dvd's. . .  by the time they get through scanning 2 TB's they will just give up on scanning HDD'S.... its such a stupid age we live in, I hate it... I feel like im growing up in a world where old farts are trying to build fences around me just to filter out shit people are saying... they just don't want us to speak our minds, . . .  they want us to grow up submissive... the more you push the harder the snap back will be... just they wait and see.

Why wouldn't they scan hard drives? They're doing everything else, and now they want your DNA.

They want to people people in airports and on airplanes to wear shock collars!

http://www.washingtontimes.com/weblogs/aviation-security/2008/Jul/01/want-some-torture-with-your-peanuts/

I cannot even begin to imagine what's next! Scanning laptop hard drives, USB drives, and other mobile electronics is 100% plausible. But not for terroristic or subversive content, but rather for pirated movies and music. DHS is under pressure by it's corporate puppet-masters to deter copyright infringement and maximize their profits!

America has died, within 10-15 years, people have more freedom and prosperity in China and North Korea. If this keeps getting worse, I am going to move to another country.

I would hack the trigger frequencies and periodically shock every passenger on the plane, tons of fun for a 10 hour flight ;p....

Anyone dumb enough to put that thing around their neck/wrist deserves to be tortured.

If you refuse to wear the shock collar you'll just be violently thrown to the ground by physically imposing government spooks, and then arrested for not legitimately committing a crime. Much like what happens to people whom refuse the rape-scan AND the pat-down. Apparently you can't just leave the airport.

I wonder what foreign tourists will think of this. They don't even to these things to people in North Korea and communist China!

People will be forced to wear shock bracelets/collars at shopping malls, sporting events, on trains and buses, office buildings, and just about everywhere! I wonder how many people will die from getting shocked just as they do from tasers.

I heard about how DHS is planning on putting cameras on street corners that can see through your clothes! Because you could have a bomb in your underwear.

Welcome to America!

figuratively speaking here.  Unless you have the bad kid P stuff on your drive, they would not be able to touch you about the music or videos.  They do not have access to your vast collection of cd's dvd's at home.  How the hell are they going to know if you own them are not?   If they started to arrest people just because it is on their drive, I can see the amount of  law suits mounting up for false arrest.

just my opinion though.

just my opinion though.

If you download a music file through means other through itunes or any of the ones you "pay" for. You are subject to $250,000 in federal fines and up to 5 years in prison for each song!

I don't know of a single person who hasn't done this. They can't possibly put Hundreds of Millions of people in prison. The problem is that there are too many people doing this in mass-quantities. The only thing the music and film industry can do to "scare" people from illegally downloading music/movies is launch Thousands of lawsuits against individual people, and against websites which offer pirating services, to try and deter this problem.

I would honestly have to say that 8 or 9 out of every 10 ipods has illegally downloaded music on it.

I'm not sure if they'll arrest you for felony copyright infringement after scanning your laptop/mobile device for illegal movies/music. They might just confiscate your computer and issue you a citation. Although scanning computers without probable cause is still against the Fourth amendment and DHS fascisti might run into some trouble trying to do this, I'm sure they'll do it anyway.

The Department of Homeland Security AKA megacorp, is shutting down Tens of Thousands of websites for merely LINKING to copyrighted material. Let's say if I included a link in this post to a music video on MTV.com, I would be committing a federal felony! -- what a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DHS is planning on making people at airports and on airplanes wear shock collars for christ sake! (I'm not kidding)

God only knows what they'll do next.

God help us all..............

I seriously doubt the TSA would ever find information on someone's mobile computer which could incriminate them as a terrorist. If they do, maybe once or twice every few years.

As for sickos with kiddie porn on their computer. Sure, let them rot in prison and then burn in hell.
