Egypt Nobel laureate ElBaradei under house arrest
Share AP foreign, Friday January 28 2011 SARAH EL DEEB
Associated Press= CAIRO (AP) — Egyptian security officials say police have put Nobel Peace laureate Mohamed ElBaradei under house arrest. Police stationed outside his suburban Cairo home told him he cannot leave the house after he joined tens of thousands of protesters in the capital Friday.
Have they done this to protect him from being beaten up or killed in the riots so he can run for the new elections and become the new Egyptian leader?

That would be a good assumption.

There is a curfew put in place in Cairo from 6.00 PM to 7.00 AM morning. Let's see if the protesters will go with the curfew.

Iran cleric praises new 'Islamic Mideast'Fri Jan 28, 2011 12:41PM Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Khatami Senior Iranian cleric Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Khatami has praised the recent popular uprisings in the Arab world, saying they herald the creation of “an Islamic Middle East.” The leader of Tehran's interim Friday Prayers was referring to the recent historic revolution in Tunisia and massive protests in Egypt, Jordan, and Yemen. "Incidents that are happening in the Middle East and the Arab world should not be regarded simply," he told worshippers on Friday. "To those who do not see the realities I clarify that an Islamic Middle East is being created based on Islam, religion, and democracy with prevailing religious principals," Ayatollah Khatami was quoted as saying by IRNA. Egypt's largest opposition group the Muslim Brotherhood on Thursday called on the country's people to continue protests after the weekly Muslim prayer congregation of Friday. Muslim Brotherhood spokesman Essam al-Arian warned that Egypt would "explode" if the government does not listen to the people. Police clamped down on anti-government protesters in the Egyptian capital of Cairo on Friday. The leader of Tehran's interim Friday Prayers said the recent uprisings in the Arab world have Islamic support as people came to the streets with the slogan of "God is the Greatest." Ayatollah Khatami also praised the congregational prayers in Tunisia days after the revolution ousted former President Zine El Abidin Ben Ali from power. A vast majority of Tunisia's population is Muslims and committed to Islamic values. AGB/AKM http://presstv.com/detail/162397.html

It is believed that the military will be on the side of the people protesting . Curfew is being announced and we may soon find out as the police have lost a lot of ground to the protesters. If the military is to side with one or the other we may soon know.

Thursday, January 27, 2011 Further Information on Suspected Massacre in Suez, Egypthttp://www.activistpost.com/2011/01/further-information-on-suspected.htmlPhilip Brennan Disturbing reports of a massacre at the coastal town of Suez, in Egypt, are coming through Raw Story and the Egyptian Association for Change USA. From what we can ascertain, the whole city is on lock-down with a complete media blackout. Journalists from Al Jazeera and other reputable media outlets have been prevented from getting any where near Suez.A statement on the Egyptian Association for Change USA Facebook wall reads: ...The situation in Suez copied and translated word for word from an Egyptian living in Suez: Now everything is fully destroyed, it is as if we are in emergency curfew, armored vehicles/tanks are everywhere in the area of 'Irbieen' and in the governerate - and we hear the sound of bombs/grenades every few minutes and there is still live ammunition and the protesters are brave men and women and none of them are afraid nor did anyone run or escape, even though they know that alot of protesters are detained in towers since 9 o'clock and there are no networks to confirm that parents are okay and security forces and fully in charge and we have yet to see the mayor, he hasn't even made a statement about what has happened and to comfort the parents of those who were jailed and the parents are enraged. One of the parents hasn't even received the body of her daughter until now and chaos is filling the place and we do not know what fate will being to us tomorrow with this government... Few pictures or videos are coming out of Suez, but what we have been able to obtain do look very disturbing. A grainy photograph below, courtesy of Rassd News Network, shows fires in the streets of Suez and protesters milling around, probably shortly before the military crackdown on the protesters: Some Arabic language audio reports are being posted up on YouTube, but as I do not speak Arabic I am unable to make use of them. As soon as English Language or subtitled versions start appearing, they will be posted to this site. Naturally, I will post updates to the situation as and when they come.

Reaffirming the stance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Khatami said, "Rioters and those who mastermind the unrest must know the Iranian nation will not give in to pressure and accept the nullification of the election results.”“I ask the Judiciary to firmly deal with these people and set an example for everyone,” he added. Iran became the scene of opposition rallies last week after the announcement of the results of the 10th presidential election, which declared incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the winner with nearly two-thirds of the votes. Ayatollah Khatami, a member of the Assembly of Experts, said according to Islamic law, the saboteurs are considered as ‘mohareb’ (one who wages war against God), adding that Islam has the severest punishments for such parties. Defeated candidates Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi have rejected the election result as fraudulent and demand a re-run — a request which has been dismissed by Iran’s electoral watchdog, the Guardian Council.. Ayatollah Khatami went on to say that ‘the current conduct of some defeated presidential candidates’ would ‘in fact serve the interests of the enemies’. Earlier on Wednesday in a meeting with high-ranking parliamentarians in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the country’s affairs must be handled based on the laws of the land as well as the principles of the Islamic Revolution. Tehran’s Friday prayers leader blamed saboteurs and foreign media for the death of Neda Aqa-Soltan – the young woman killed last week in street protests. He said Neda’s death had been ‘planned’ by saboteurs, adding that the ‘evil’ media of the US and Europe had used her death for propaganda purposes. =============================== Doesn't he recognize this happening in Egypt and Tunisia? By using the "Muslim Brotherhood" in this op, the globalists have put the Iranians in the position of either supporting a secular government in a predominantly Muslim country (Mubarak's government), or supporting the (fake) religious "Muslim Brotherhood". They can't support the secular government, even if they smell the stink of a Soros-style operation here; they must come out in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood. Brilliant move to force Iran's support of the downfall of the Egyptian government. Public support at any rate. I have to believe they see the truth of this, and they understand that their own color revolution was stopped; but only temporarily.

This is one of THE key problems with politics today -- ever changing positions for strategic political gain rather than carved-in-stone principles, much like the difference between "democracy" (fluid principles) and "republic" (unwavering principles).

That was one of my thoughts too, was about all the valuable ancient things that are valuable in price and valuable to human existence to show them their past. Unstable countries don't care about that so much.

Those who doubt this should remember the horrendous economic and political record of the puppets installed in the wake of recent color revolutions – people like the IMF-NATO kleptocrat agents Yushchenko and Timoshenko in Ukraine, the mentally unstable warmongering dictator Saakashvili in Georgia, and so forth. Political forces that are foolish enough to accept the State Department’s idea of hope and change will soon find themselves under the yoke of new oppressors of this type. The danger is very great in Tunisia, since the forces which ousted Ben Ali have no visible leader and no visible mass political organization which could help them fight off foreign interference in the way that Hezbollah was able to do in checkmating the Lebanese Cedars putsch. In Tunis, the field is wide open for the CIA to install a candidate of its own choosing, preferably under the cover of “elections.” Twenty-three years of Ben Ali have unfortunately left Tunisia in a more atomized condition. Why is official Washington so obsessed with the idea of overthrowing these governments? The answer has everything to do with Iran, China, and Russia. As regards Iran, the State Department policy is notoriously the attempt to assemble a united front of the entrenched Arab and Sunni regimes to be played against Shiite Iran and its various allies across the region. This had not been going well, as shown by the inability of the US to install its preferred puppet Allawi in Iraq, where the pro-Iranian Maliki seems likely to hold onto power for the foreseeable future. The US desperately wants a new generation of unstable “democratic” demagogues more willing to lead their countries against Iran than the current immobile regimes have proved to be. There is also the question of Chinese economic penetration. We can be confident that any new leaders installed by the US will include in their program a rupture of economic relations with China, including especially a cutoff of oil and raw material shipments, along the lines of what Twitter revolution honcho Mir-Hossein Mousavi was reliably reported to be preparing for Iran if he had seized power there in the summer of 2009 at the head of his “Death to Russia, death to China” rent-a-mob. In addition, US hostility against Russia is undiminished, despite the cosmetic effects of the recent ratification of START II. If for example a color revolution were to come to Syria, we could be sure that the Russian naval presence at the port Tartus, which so disturbs NATO planners, would be speedily terminated. If the new regimes demonstrate hostility against Iran, China, and Russia, we would soon find that internal human rights concerns would quickly disappear from the US agenda. The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum, is home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. It has 136,000 items on display, with many more hundreds of thousands in its basement storerooms. they will raid the Museum for sure will blame it on the protesters
I hope the museum does not catch on fire. This museums has treasures of humanity such as the mummys of King Tutankhamun and countless other such treasures that would be lost forever. You can spend whole days in this museums without still not seeing everything. It is huge and containing invaluable archaeological treasures and Egyptian antiquities.

Next Domino: Syria Shuts Down Internet Servicehttp://www.zerohedge.com/article/next-domino-syria-shuts-down-internet-serviceTyler Durden's picture Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/28/2011 09:57 -0500 With Egypt pretty a done deal, many are wondering who is next. Al Arabiya provides the answer: Syria has just shut down its internet service. And as one glance at the map below suggests, should this indeed be the case, and if Jordan promptly follows suit, Israel will be surrounded by revolutions. Which is surely a reason for WTI to plunge another 20%.
