Delay in President's speech.

Then the speech did not give any reference to terrorism.

They scraped using the assassination to promote the Bush terrorist funding agenda!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone, please grab the 1st state department statement.

It was all terror warmongering, but Bush scraped it at the last minute.

They are scared of us!!!!!!!!!!

Musharraf: Bhutto assassination "work of terrorists"

duh!

did you guys see that one report that it was a sniper?

suicide bombers are usually expendable morons.  they are used for cannon fodder as the snipers do the real work.

Bhutto Assassinated Who did it?
http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/014/533wyfta.asp
by Bill Roggio  12/27/2007 11:06:00 AM

BENAZIR BHUTTO, the leader of the Pakistani People's party, has been assassinated while campaigning in the military garrison city of Rawalpindi. Bhutto, who was a favorite to be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan, was killed along with at least 20 of her supporters and security detail in a shooting attack and suicide bombing as she was exiting the campaign procession in her vehicle. The first accounts of the assassination indicate the shooter and the suicide bomber were the same person. "Party supporter Chaudry Mohammed Nazir said that two gunshots rang out when Bhutto's vehicle pulled into the main street and then there was a big blast next to her car," the AP reported. "The man first fired at Bhutto's vehicle," Rawalpindi police officer Mohammad Shahid told Reuters. "She ducked and then he blew himself up." Bhutto was taken to Rawalpindi General Hospital and was treated for "serious head injuries besides bullet injuries in the neck region," Safdar Abbasi, Bhutto's aide said. She was reported shot in the neck and chest, but Interior Ministry spokesman Javed Cheema said "It may have been pellets packed into the suicide bomber's vest that hit her. The mode of attack suggests a level of training, discipline, and expertise of a military organization. If bullets penetrated Bhutto's vehicle windshield, which no doubt was bullet proof, the shooter was using armor-piercing rounds and had good aim.

There is the possibility a  sniper was placed elsewhere and aided the assault, although this has not been confirmed.

The shooter also had the discipline to detonate his suicide vest after the confusion of firing into her vehicle. Today's attack occurred in the military garrison city of Rawalpindi, which the Pakistani military presumably controls. This was was the fifth bombing targeting military and political leaders in Rawalpindi since July. This was the second strike against Bhutto since her return to Pakistan in mid-October. The first attack also showed a level of sophistication, training, and discipline typical of a military operation. In the October attack on Bhutto's return processional in Karachi, snipers, suicide bombers, and a car bomb were coordinated among a blanket of security. The attack came close to killing Bhutto. Over 132 Pakistanis were killed and upwards of 500 wounded.

Bhutto supporters have begun to blame President Pervez Musharraf for her death. The sophistication of the attack, the governments reported refusal to provide adequate security, as well as the location of the bombing, have created distrust among Bhutto supporters. But this attack was most likely carried out by the Taliban and al Qaeda. Baitullah Mehsud, the leader of the newly united Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan, or Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, threatened to kill Bhutto upon her return in October. The Taliban and al Qaeda manage training camps in Pakistan's tribal areas and have trainers and recruits from the Pakistani military in their ranks.  "My men will welcome Bhutto on her return," Baitullah told a former senator. "We don't accept President General Musharraf and Benazir Bhutto because they only protect the US interest and see things through its glasses. They're only acceptable if they wear the Pakistani glasses." Bhutto was believed to be the frontrunner as the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. She returned to Pakistan after significant pressure on the Musharraf government was applied by the United States. Bhutto promised to rid the tribal regions of the Taliban and al Qaeda. Elections are to be held on January 8, 2007.

MSM is throwing it at Al Qaeda at every opportunity,... messed up part is, Al CIA'da is likely to blame.  Bush blames violent extreemists, he's right, and he's one of 'em.  Pakistanis are already targeting Musharaf with their protests, and that confounds several of the msm babble heads that have reported it so far.  Babble-head-news-bunnies aren't hired for their insights, but for their mockingbird songs.

Benazir Bhutto Assassinated in Pakistan
http://threatswatch.org/rapidrecon/2007/12/benazir-bhutto-assassinated-in/

Benazir Bhutto has been assassinated today at a rally held in Rawalpindi, the garrison city near Islamabad that is also home to Pakistani Army headquarters.

Early reports indicate that Bhutto was shot by sniper fire in a coordinated attack that included a suicide bomber, with FOX News reporting that she was hit five times, including in the chest and neck. She survived the initial attack but appears to have died in surgery at a local hospital.

Little news is available yet from Pakistani media sources, but The Times of India reports that about 20 are believed to have been killed by the suicide bomber’s blast in addition to the sniper killing of Bhutto. The bomber struck an exit where people were leaving Bhutto’s rally. At the hospital, Bhutto supporters were already reacting against Pervez Musharraf, whose government and military they likely suspect are behind the attack. At the news of Bhutto’s death, they chanted “Dog, Musharraf, dog,” and broke glass doors at the entry to the hospital. The greatest strategic fear going forward from this tragedy is a potential rise in civil unrest inside Pakistan with chaos and instability throughout regions of the country, adding to the challenge of a Taliban-al-Qaeda alliance in control of the tribal areas. Chaos among the democratic opposition in cities such as Karachi and Lahore would magnify the crisis already at hand. More to follow at ThreatsWatch as the situation unfolds and information becomes available.

FLASHBACK: First Illuminati Style Assassination Attempt on Bhutto

Sophisticated attack targeted Bhutto in Pakistan
http://www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2007/10/sophisticated_attack.php
By Bill RoggioOctober 19, 2007 10:01 AM

As the toll from yesterday's ambush on former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto convoy rises to 132 killed and upwards of 500 wounded, the details of the strike emerge. The attack was a sophisticated, coordinated strike carried out by professional terrorists. Conflicting reports exist, but it is clear...

at least one suicide bomber, and possibly two, conducted the attack, possibly in conjunction with snipers, a car bomb, and a person throwing a hand grenade.

The target of the attacks was the large truck carrying Bhutto and her senior advisors. Bhutto's convoy was surrounded by a massive cordon of police and party volunteers. The security arrangement had two rings: an outer cordon of 20,000 police and inner cordon of 5,000 volunteer's from Bhutto's political party as well as police. At least one suicide bomber penetrated the outer cordon and hit the inner ring of security. The suicide bomb came close to hitting Bhutto's truck. “The blasts hit two police vehicles which were escorting the truck carrying Ms Bhutto. The target was the truck,” senior Karachi police official Azhar Farooqui told Reuters. Witnesses said two dozen police vehicles "were completely shattered." About 15 to 20 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack. "There were two blasts, one on the left side and one on the right side of the procession,” Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao said. “It appears these were suicide attacks, but it is not confirmed." Police later confirmed recovering the severed head, hands and feet of one suicide bomber, along with the torso.

Conflicting reports on the origin of the second blast exist, but there is a strong possibility that all of the modes of attack occurred, based on the sheer scale of the devastation. Karachi's chief of police said a grenade was hurled at the truck. "First a grenade was thrown at the crowd and then the suicide bomber blew himself up," he said. Other witnesses said "the second blast originated from a golden-coloured Pajero parked on the road."  Bhutto herself said there were two suicide bombers involved in the attacks, while there were four suicide squads sent to kill her. "There was one suicide squad from the Taliban elements, one suicide squad from al Qaeda, one suicide squad from Pakistani Taliban and a fourth — a group — I believe from Karachi," she said. Bhutto also stated street lamps went dark as the procession moved through Karachi at midnight. The bombings were also coordinated with sniper fire. "After the explosions, Bhutto's supporters reported hearing gunshots, and there were three indentations in the glass screen of her truck that appeared to have been caused by bullets," The New York Times reported. It is clear this was a sophisticated, professional strike planned in advance. "It is a pattern that would suggest the attack was planned meticulously and conducted expertly, certainly not by a novice," Karachi's chief of police said.

The assassination attempt against Bhutto bear the hallmark of the past al Qaeda attempts to assassinate President Musharraf. Al Qaeda and the Taliban, who operate hand in hand in Pakistan, are the immediate suspects. In early October, South Waziristan Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud, who has strong ties to al Qaeda, threatened to kill Bhutto upon her return. "My men will welcome Bhutto on her return," Baitullah told a Senator. He later denied being involved in yesterday's assassination attempt. "I had nothing to do with it," he told Reuter. Haji Omar, another Taliban commander from Waziristan, threatened Bhutto's life. "She has an agreement with America. We will carry out attacks on Benazir Bhutto as we did on General Pervez Musharraf," Omar told Reuters as Bhutto traveled to Pakistan. The Taliban recently fought the Pakistani military to a standstill in North Waziristan and has over 300 Pakistani soldiers in captivity after ambushing a convoy traveling through the tribal regions. The Taliban, al Qaeda, and allied Pakistani terror groups are operating 29 terror camps in North and South Waziristan alone, and together they control significant regions in the tribal areas, including Tank, Bajaur, Swat, and Mohmand.

Here is the question you ask yourself:

Given that Bush's ultimate goal is to declare a national emergency, institute martial law in the US and scrap the '08 presidential elections, how does this assassination further his plans?

Benazir Bhutto killed in a sniper attack, five bullets were fired on her (Updated)

Rawalpindi, Dec.27 (ANI): Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, 54, was shot at and killed by at least two snipers before a suicide bomb attack on the periphery of her carcade.

Police confirmed that the snipers fired five bullets from AK-47 assault rifles. Two of the bullets hit Benazir in the neck, while a third hit her forehead. No one was near her car when the shots were fired at her. Two of her key political aides, including PPP leader and spokesperson Sherry Rehman and her security aide, were also grievously injured in the attack.

She was taken to the Rawalpindi General Hospital, where a military spokesman and members of her Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) confirmed that she had succumbed to her injuries. Wasif Ali Khan, a member of the PPP who was at Rawalpindi General Hospital, said she died at 6.16 p.m. Pakistan Standard Time.

Before her assassination, Bhutto had addressed an election rally in Rawalpindi. At least 30 other people reportedly died in the attack and several more were injured.

Bhutto, who was campaigning for the January 8, 2008 elections, had twice been the country’s prime minister, in 1988 for 20 months and again between 1993 and 1996. Her killing is likely to provoke an agonised response from her followers, especially from her loyal following in Sindh Province.

Bhutto was the key to her party’s political fortunes, as she was seen as a major political player in the forthcoming elections. The PPP has the largest support of any party in the country.

Rawalpindi, a garrison city, is seen as one of the country’s most secure cities, making the attack on Benazir even more embarrassing for President Pervez Musharraf and the military authorities. Supporters at the hospital began chanting “Dog, Musharraf, dog“, referring to President Pervez Musharraf. Amidst the scenes of grief and shock, some PPP activists broke the glass door at the main entrance to the emergency unit as others wept. Outside the hospital and in Liaquat Bagh area, her supporters attacked police vans and cars, and shouted slogans against the lapse in security.

A man with a PPP flag tied around his head could be seen beating his chest in grief.

Interior ministry spokesman Javed Cheema, was quoted as saying that she may have been killed by pellets packed into the suicide bomber’s vest, but a PPP security adviser said she was shot in the neck and chest as she got into her vehicle, before one of the gunmen blew himself up.

Among the mourners at the hospital were Nawaz Sharif, also a former prime minister and opposition leader, who squarely blamed President Musharraf and the Pakistan Army for the tragedy. Earlier on Thursday at least four people were killed ahead of a PML (N) election rally that Sharif was preparing to attend close to Rawalpindi. The killing was condemned by the US and Russia, and a statement is expected shortly from the UK. “The attack shows that there are still those in Pakistan trying to undermine reconciliation and democratic development in Pakistan,” a US State Department spokesman said. The Russian foreign ministry condemned the attack, offered condolences to Ms Bhutto’s family and said it hoped the Pakistani leadership would “manage to take necessary steps to ensure stability in the country“. The French Government described the assassination as an “odious” act, and said it was deeply concerned. Bhutto had returned from self-imposed exile in October 18 after nine years out of Pakistan where she had faced corruption charges. On the day of her return, she led a motor cavalcade through Karachi. It was hit by a double suicide attack that left some 130 people dead. Her return was reportedly the result of a power-sharing agreement with President Musharraf in which he granted an amnesty that covered the court cases she was facing. Since her return, however, her relations with Musharraf had broken down. According to some unconfirmed reports, she was scheduled to meet Musharraf on Thursday evening after addressing the rally. Billy Bomb Iran For Israel Kristol's rag placing the blame on their loyal boogiemen. That didn't take long. Put that together with the new commitment of US special forces to the region and you can see that Iran is still on the table.

I just saw footage on CNN of the attack site - multiple fires 50+ ft. apart on stage and on part of event fencing.  I'll post it as soon as I find it.  It looks very much like a coordinated multiple bombs-assassins attack.

When there was an attempt on her life in Oct her husband blamed the "intelligence agencies"

Suspects in the Bhutto assassination

In the wake of Benazir Bhutto's assassination, Mark Tran looks at the background to the crisis in Pakistan

Thursday December 27, 2007
Guardian Unlimited

Who are the suspects?
Even before Bhutto returned to Pakistan in October after eight years of self-imposed exile, there had been open threats against her. A pro-Taliban militant leader, Baitullah Masood, said he would target her with suicide attacks. Masood, probably the most prominent militant leader in the north-western region bordering Afghanistan, has also been accused of carrying out attacks on Pakistani soldiers.

Bhutto's pro-western attitude would have made her a natural target for militant Islamists. Another militant commander, Haji Omar, said before her return: "She has an agreement with America. We will carry out attacks on Benazir Bhutto as we did on General Pervez Musharraf [the Pakistani president]." Authorities had warned Bhutto that extremists sympathetic to the Taliban and al-Qaida would target her.

Article continues

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who else is in the frame?
After the October assassination attempt, Bhutto's husband, Asif Ali Zardari, who is in Dubai where the couple had been living in exile, accused members of the Pakistani security services, the ISI. "I blame government for these blasts," he said. "It is the work of the intelligence agencies."
Elements of the ISI sympathise with the Taliban and it was a possibility that "rogue elements" in the intelligence services were involved in the two attacks. The ISI became one of Pakistan's most powerful institutions under General Zia-ul-Haq, the man who launched an Islamisation campaign and who overthrew Bhutto's father and had him hung. After Gen Zia's death in a mysterious plane crash in 1988, the ISI actively campaigned against Bhutto when she entered politics.

Has there been other violence?

Hours before Bhutto's death, four people were killed and three wounded in a clash just outside Islamabad between pro-government supporters and backers of the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Last week, more than 50 people were killed when a suicide attacker detonated a bomb at a crowded mosque near the home of Pakistan's former interior minister on one of Islam's major holidays. Aftab Khan Sherpao, once a supporter of Bhutto, took a strong anti-militant line in office.

THE PATSY ARGUMENT IS BULLSHIT

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TTo8DI4r9s

HOW MANY MORE?

Oliver Stone is speaking to the American People about new Assassination Conspiracies (they are not in the actual Garrison summation at the Warren Hearing).

"When it smells like it looks like it, feels like it, call it what it is...

FASCISM!!!!!!!!!!!!"

This is the transcript of the actual final summation by Jim Garrison:

May it please the court. Gentlemen of the jury. I know you're very tired. You've been very patient. This final day has been a long one, so I'll speak only a few minutes. In his argument, Mr. Dymond posed one final issue which raises the question of what we do when the need for justice is confronted by power. So, let me talk to you about the question of whether or not there was government fraud in this case--a question Mr. Dymond seems to want us to answer. A government is a great deal like a human being. It's not necessarily all good, and it's not necessarily all bad. We live in a good country. I love it and you do too. Nevertheless, the fact remains that we have a government which is not perfect.  There have been indications since November the 22nd of 1963--and that was not the last indication--that there is excessive power in some parts of our government. It is plain that the people have not received all of the truth about some of the things which have happened, about some of the assassinations which have occurred--and more particularly about the assassination of John Kennedy.  Going back to when we were children, I think most of us--probably all of us here in the courtroom--once thought that justice came into being of its own accord, that virtue was its own reward, that good would triumph over evil--in short, that justice occurred automatically. Later, when we found that this wasn't quite so, most of us still felt hopefully that at least justice occurred frequently of its own accord.

Today, I think that almost all of us would have to agree that there is really no machinery--not on this Earth at least--which causes justice to occur automatically. Men have to make it occur. Individual human beings have to make it occur. Otherwise, it doesn't come into existence. This is not always easy. As a matter of fact, it's always hard, because justice presents a threat to power.

In order to make justice come into being, you often have to fight power.

Mr. Dymond raised the question: Why don't we say it's all a fraud and charge the government with fraud, if this is the case? Let me be explicit, then, and make myself very clear on this point.  The government's handling of the investigation of John Kennedy's murder was a fraud. It was the greatest fraud in the history of our country. It probably was the greatest fraud ever perpetrated in the history of humankind. That doesn't mean that we have to accept the continued existence of the kind of government which allows this to happen. We can do something about it. We're forced either to leave this country or to accept the authoritarianism that has developed--the authoritarianism which tells us that in the year 2029 we can see the evidence about what happened to John Kennedy. Government does not consist only of secret police and domestic espionage operations and generals and admirals--government consists of people. It also consists of juries. And cases of murder--whether of the poorest individual or the most distinguished citizen in the land--should be looked at openly in a court of law, where juries can pass on them and not be hidden, not be buried like the body of the victim beneath concrete for countless years.

You men in these recent weeks have heard witnesses that no one else in the world has heard. You've seen the Zapruder film. You've seen what happened to your President. I suggest to you that you know right now that, in that area at least, a fraud has been perpetrated. That does not mean that our government is entirely bad; and I want to emphasize that. It does mean, however, that in recent years, through the development of excessive power because of the Cold War, forces have developed in our government over which there is no control and these forces have an authoritarian approach to justice--meaning, they will let you know what justice is. Well, my reply to them is that we already know what justice is. It is the decision of the people passing on the evidence. It is the jury system. In this issue which is posed by the government's conduct in concealing the evidence in this case--in the issue of humanity as opposed to power--I have chosen humanity, and I will do it again without any hesitation. I hope every one of you will do the same. I do this because I love my country and because I want to communicate to the government that we will not accept unexplained assassinations with the casual information that if we live seventy-five years longer, we might be given more evidence.

In this particular case, massive power was brought to bear to prevent justice from ever coming into this courtroom. The power to make authoritive pronouncements, the power to manipulate the news media by the release of false information, the power to interfere with an honest inquiry and the power to provide an endless variety of experts to testify in behalf of power, repeatedly was demonstrated in this case. The American people have yet to see the Zapruder film. Why? The American people have yet to see and hear from the real witnesses to the assassination. Why? Because, today in America too much emphasis is given to secrecy, with regard to the assassination of our President, and not enough emphasis is given to the question of justice and to the question of humanity.

These dignified deceptions will not suffice. We have had enough of power without truth. We don't have to accept power without truth or else leave the country. I don't accept either of these two alternatives.

I don't intend to leave the country and I don't intend to accept power without truth. I intend to fight for the truth. I suggest that not only is this not un-American, but it is the most American thing we can do--because if the truth does not endure, then our country will not endure. In our country the worst of all crimes occurs when the government murders truth. If it can murder truth, it can murder freedom. If it can murder freedom, it can murder your own sons--if they should dare to fight for freedom-- and then it can announce that they were killed in an industrial accident, or shot by the "enemy" or God knows what.

In this case, finally, it has been possible to bring the truth about the assassination into a court of law--not before a commission composed of important and powerful and politically astute men, but before a jury of citizens. Now, I suggest to you that yours is a hard duty, because in a sense what you're passing on is equivalent to a murder case. The difficult thing about passing on a murder case is that the victim is out of your sight and buried a long distance away, and all you can see is the defendant. It's very difficult to identify with someone you can't see, and sometimes it's hard not to identify to some extent with the defendant and his problems. In that regard, every prosecutor who is at all humane is conscious of feeling sorry for the defendant in every case he prosecutes. But he is not free to forget the victim who lies buried out of sight.  suggest to you that, if you do your duty, you also are not free to forget the victim who is buried out of sight. You know, Tennyson once said that, "authority forgets a dying king." This was never more true than in the murder of John Kennedy. The strange and deceptive conduct of the government after his murder began while his body was warm, and has continued for five years. You have seen in this courtroom indications of the interest of part of the government power structure in keeping the truth down, in keeping the grave closed. We presented a number of eyewitnesses as well as an expert witness as well as the Zapruder film, to show that the fatal wound of the President came from the front. A plane landed from Washington and out stepped Dr. Finck for the defense, to counter the clear and apparent evidence of a shot from the front. I don't have to go into Dr. Finck's testimony in detail for you to show that it simply did not correspond with the facts. He admitted that he did not complete the autopsy because a general told him not to complete the autopsy. In this conflict between power and justice--to put it that way--just where do you think Dr. Finck stands? A general, who was not a pathologist, told him not to complete the autopsy, so he didn't complete it. This is not the way I want my country to be. When our President is killed he deserves the kind of autopsy that the ordinary citizen gets every day in the State of Louisiana. And the people deserve the facts about it. We can't have government power suddenly interjecting itself and preventing the truth form coming to the people.

Yet in this case, before the sun rose the next morning, power had moved into the situation and the truth was being concealed. And now, five years later in this courtroom the power of the government in concealing the truth is continuing in the same way. We presented eyewitnesses who told you of the shots coming from the grassy knoll. A plane landed from Washington, and out came ballistics expert Frazier for the defense. Mr. Frazier's explanation of the sound of the shots coming from the front, which was heard by eyewitness after eyewitness, was that Lee Oswald created a sonic boom in his firing. Not only did Oswald break all of the world's records for marksmanship, but he broke the sound barrier as well. I suggest to you, that if any of you have shot on a firing range--and most of you probably have in the service--you were shooting rifles in which the bullet traveled faster than the speed of sound. I ask you to recall if you ever heard a sonic boom. If you remember when you were on the firing line, and they would say, "Ready on the left; ready on the right; ready on the firing line; commence firing," you heard the shots coming from the firing line--to the left of you and to the right of you. If you had heard, as a result of Frazier's fictional sonic boom, firing coming at you from the pits, you would have had a reaction which you would still remember. Mr. Frazier's sonic boom simply doesn't exist. It's part of the fraud-- a part of the continuing government fraud. The best way to make this country the kind of country it's supposed to be is to communicate to the government that no matter how powerful it may be, we do not accept these frauds. We do not accept these false announcements. We do not accept the concealment of evidence with regard to the murder of President Kennedy. Who is the most believable: a Richard Randolph Carr, seated here in a wheelchair and telling you what he saw and what he heard and how he was told to shut his mouth--or Mr. Frazier with his sonic booms? Do we really have to reject Mr. Newman and Mrs. Newman and Mr. Carr and Roger Craig and the testimony of all those honest witnesses--reject all this and accept the fraudulent Warren Commission, or else leave the country?

I suggest to you that there are other alternatives. One of them has been put in practice in the last month in the State of Louisiana--and that is to bring out the truth in a proceeding where attorneys can cross-examine, where the defendant can be confronted by testimony against him, where the rules of evidence are applied and where a jury of citizens can pass on it--and where there is no government secrecy. Above all, where you do not have evidence concealed for seventy-five years in the name of "national security." All we have in this case are the facts--facts which show that the defendant participated in the conspiracy to kill the President and that the President was subsequently killed in an ambush. The reply of the defense has been the same as the early reply of the government in the Warren Commission. It has been authority, authority, authority. The President's seal outside of each volume of the Warren Commission Report--made necessary because there is nothing inside these volumes, only men of high position and prestige sitting on a Board, and announcing the results to you, but not telling you what the evidence is, because the evidence has to be hidden for seventy-five years. You heard in this courtroom in recent weeks, eyewitness after eyewitness after eyewitness and, above all, you saw one eyewitness which was indifferent to power--the Zapruder film. The lens of the camera is totally indifferent to power and it tells what happened as it saw it happen--and that is one of the reasons 200 million Americans have not seen the Zapruder film. They should have seen it many times. They should know exactly what happened. They all should know what you know now. Why hasn't all of this come into being if there hasn't been government fraud? Of course there has been fraud by the government.

But I'm telling you now that I think we can do something about it. I think that there are still enough Americans left in this country to make it continue to be America. I think that we can still fight authoritarianism--the government's insistence on secrecy, government force used in counterattacks against an honest inquiry--and when we do that, we're not being un-American, we're being American. It isn't easy. You're sticking your neck out in a rather permanent way, but it has to be done because truth does not come into being automatically. Individual men, like the members of my staff here, have to work and fight to make it happen--and individual men like you have to make justice come into being because otherwise is doesn't happen. What I'm trying to tell you is that there are forces in America today, unfortunately, which are not in favor of the truth coming out about John Kennedy's assassination. As long as our government continues to be like this, as long as such forces can get away with such actions, then this is no longer the country in which we were born. The murder of John Kennedy was probably the most terrible moment in the history of our country. Yet, circumstances have placed you in the position where not only have you seen the hidden evidence but you are actually going to have the opportunity to bring justice into the picture for the first time. Now, you are here sitting in judgment on Clay Shaw. Yet you, as men, represent more than jurors in an ordinary case because of the victim in this case. You represent, in a sense, the hope of humanity against government power. You represent humanity, which yet may triumph over excessive government power-- if you will cause it to be so, in the course of doing your duty in this case. I suggest that you ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.  What can you do for your country? You can cause justice to happen for the first time in this matter. You can help make our country better by showing that this is still a government of the people. And if you do that, as long as you live, nothing will ever be more important.

OMFG - Mika (daughter of the man that created Al-Qaeda and Islamic Fundamentalism) will have on her MSNBC show...

HER FATHER!!!!!!!!!!

to talk about what the US can expect as far as the future of Pakistan.

THIS WHOLE THING IS TOTALLY SCRIPTED!!
Yes! TOTALLY SCRIPTED! The whole Global Plan!

Here are some quotes From Zbigniew Brzezinksi's Book
The Grand Chessboard
American Primacy And It's Geostrategic Imperatives

"Ever since the continents started interacting politically, some five hundred years ago, Eurasia has been the center of world power."- (p. xiii)

"... But in the meantime, it is imperative that no Eurasian challenger emerges, capable of dominating Eurasia and thus of also challenging America. The formulation of a comprehensive and integrated Eurasian geostrategy is therefore the purpose of this book.” (p. xiv)

"In that context, how America 'manages' Eurasia is critical. A power that dominates Eurasia would control two of the world's three most advanced and economically productive regions. A mere glance at the map also suggests that control over Eurasia would almost automatically entail Africa's subordination, rendering the Western Hemisphere and Oceania geopolitically peripheral to the world's central continent. About 75 per cent of the world's people live in Eurasia, and most of the world's physical wealth is there as well, both in its enterprises and underneath its soil. Eurasia accounts for about three-fourths of the world's known energy resources." (p.31)

“Never before has a populist democracy attained international supremacy. But the pursuit of power is not a goal that commands popular passion, except in conditions of a sudden threat or challenge to the public's sense of domestic well-being. The economic self-denial (that is, defense spending) and the human sacrifice (casualties, even among professional soldiers) required in the effort are uncongenial to democratic instincts. Democracy is inimical to imperial mobilization." (p.35)

“The momentum of Asia's economic development is already generating massive pressures for the exploration and exploitation of new sources of energy and the Central Asian region and the Caspian Sea basin are known to contain reserves of natural gas and oil that dwarf those of Kuwait, the Gulf of Mexico, or the North Sea." (p.125)

"In the long run, global politics are bound to become increasingly uncongenial to the concentration of hegemonic power in the hands of a single state. Hence, America is not only the first, as well as the only, truly global superpower, but it is also likely to be the very last." (p.209)

"Moreover, as America becomes an increasingly multi-cultural society, it may find it more difficult to fashion a consensus on foreign policy issues, except in the circumstance of a truly massive and widely perceived direct external threat." (p. 211)

Bhutto: I know exactly who wants to kill me

Bhutto: I know exactly who wants to kill me

Benazir Bhutto today accused supporters of the former Pakistani military dictator General Zia-ul-Haq for the assassination attempt that turned her homecoming into a bloodbath.
"I know exactly who wants to kill me," she told the French magazine Paris-Match. "They are dignitaries of General Zia's former regime who are behind extremism and fanaticism."

Nobody has yet claimed responsibility for one of Pakistan's deadliest bombings, which killed at least 136 people and injured 290.

Article continues

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In a subsequent press conference at the Karachi home of her parents-in-law, Ms Bhutto said she had been warned on her flight to Pakistan about a plot involving army officers and told three unnamed people were behind it.
Ms Bhutto, wearing a black armband, said she had not wanted all her top party leadership to travel in her truck as she "knew" there might be an assassination attempt.

She praised those who died while protecting her as heroes, and said she did not blame the government for the attack. However, she called for an inquiry as to why street lights had been switched off during her procession.

"If the street lights had been on, we would have spotted the suicide bombers," she said. "The guards had floodlights on, but it was difficult to scan the crowds as there were so many people".

Denouncing her would-be assassins as trying to destroy Pakistan and saying they had damaged Islam, she added: "It is against our religion to kill innocent people".

The Pakistani government has blamed Islamist militants for the assassination attempt. Police are focusing on militants linked to the Taliban and al-Qaida based in tribal regions bordering Afghanistan, where they have stepped up attacks on Pakistani troops.

However, Ms Bhutto pointed to Pakistan's powerful intelligence services, the ISI.

General Zia seized power in a coup against Ms Bhutto's father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, in 1977. The general, who died in a mysterious plane crash in 1988, had Mr Bhutto tried on trumped-up charges and executed.

"We have to purge elements still present in our services," Ms Bhutto told Paris-Match. "Many went into retirement and then were taken back. Today, they hold much power. For them I represent a danger - if I bring back democracy to the country, they will lose influence".

The Pakistani president, General Pervez Musharraf, said he was "deeply shocked" by the attack, and appealed for calm. He promised an exhaustive investigation and severe punishment for those responsible.

Well before Ms Bhutto's return, Taliban commanders had made threats against her life, fearing she would help US troops hunt for Osama bin Laden and other fugitives. One commander, Baitullah Masood, vowed to send suicide bombers to kill her.

"Definitely, it is the work of the militants and terrorists," Javed Iqbal Cheema, an interior ministry spokesman said, adding that it was too early to say which group was involved.

Manzoor Mughal, a senior police official involved in the investigation, told Reuters that the first of last night's blasts had been caused by a hand grenade. "The second was the suicide attack," he said. "The attacker ran into the crowd and blew himself up."

The bombings happened shortly after midnight, more than 10 hours after Ms Bhutto had arrived home from eight years in exile. She escaped unhurt and was evacuated to her residence in the city.

A procession that had attracted several hundred thousand of her supporters was abandoned in chaos.

Local television stations captured the two blasts, which occurred in quick succession near a heavily-protected truck carrying Ms Bhutto and her party leaders.

Television footage showed onlookers running towards the vehicle after the first blast, only to be caught in the second explosion. Party official Qasim Zia said Ms Bhutto had descended into the vehicle to use the bathroom at the time of the explosion.

TV stations showed graphic images of mutilated bodies lying on a street littered with debris, body parts and lumps of charred flesh. A blazing police vehicle stood beside the deserted Bhutto truck, which was emblazoned with the slogan "Long Live Bhutto".

Many of the dead were thought to be police and party security officials who had formed a moving security cordon around the vehicle. A local television cameraman also died.

"People were shouting for help, but there was no one to help them out. It smelled like blood and smoke," the Associated Press photographer, B K Bangash, who was 50 metres from the explosion, said.

The government had mounted a huge security operation. Around 20,000 security personnel lined the route and sophisticated anti-bomb jamming devices were fitted to Ms Bhutto's vehicle.

Mobile phone signals were blocked in the area, and armed bodyguards accompanied the truck.

Ms Bhutto returned from exile hoping to win a third term as prime minister at general elections due to be held by mid-January. With encouragement from the US, she has been holding power-sharing talks with Gen Musharraf.

Pakistan's deputy information minister, Tariq Azim Khan, said Ms Bhutto had disregarded warnings to delay her return.

"She was given friendly advice she should delay her return," he said. "Obviously, she did not take it."

Asked what extra measures the government could possibly have taken given the size of the crowd, he said: "There can never be 100% foolproof security, but you can provide extra efforts. We tried to make the maximum effort possible."

The attack will be seen as a wider assault on the political system in Pakistan. Violent extremists have gathered force in the country this year. In July, an eight-day siege of the extremist Red Mosque in Islamabad in July left more than 100 people dead.

Last night's violence could endanger Ms Bhutto's power-sharing talks with Gen Musharraf, who has threatened to impose emergency rule or martial law if his plans to retain power are frustrated.

ARLEN SPECTER WAS SCHEDULED TO MEET WITH BHUTTO TONIGHT (WTF?)

Specter: "We can't let the terrorists win."

He keeps repeating the lies..."suicide bomber...blah blah blah..."

There are scrolling BS "suicide bomber kills Bhutto" reports, Breaking News: "Suicide Bomber Kills Bhutto", "Conversations about "Suicide Bomber killing Bhutto."

IT WAS SNIPERS IN A JFK STYLE TURKEY SHOOT.

These snipers were probably CIA/MI6/Mossad since the last attempt failed.  This was a large scale coordinated military operation to inflict maximum shock and awe on the Pakistani people.

Hey Specter, can you stop the bullshit for just one day?

I love Fulford's interviews, but I would not be sitting back waiting for anybody else to help.  We need to make sure that the MSM gets no quarter for spinning truth.  No more distortion of facts, twisting information to enslave us.

Bush already changed his prepared speech.  We are being heard.

While it was not possible to assess the veracity of Ms. Bhutto’s charges, she has long accused parts of the government, namely Pakistan’s premier military intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence, or ISI, of working against her and her party because they oppose her liberal, secular agenda.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/20/world/asia/20Pakistan.html?_r=2&th&emc=th&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

Aides close to Ms. Bhutto said that one of those named in the letter was Ijaz Shah, the director general of the Intelligence Bureau, another of the country’s intelligence agencies and a close associate of General Musharraf.

Retired Brigadier Ijaz Shah is a Pakistani politician, and a long-term close associate of Pervez Musharraf known for his close links with terrorists; Shah is a former Pakistan Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) official[1] and is currently the director-general of the Pakistani intelligence bureau; in his official capacity he was one of the individuals named as one of the prime suspects in the 2007 Karachi bombing at the return of Benazir Bhutto.

Shah was the ISI handling officer of the British-born international terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, convicted for the murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl and part of the terrorist group Harkat-ul Mujahideen as well as the handling officer for Osama Bin Laden and Mulla Omar.

In 2004, Musharraf's attempt to appoint Shah as High Commissioner to Australia was rejected in a highly unusual move by Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs department. Instead Musharraf appointed him to head Pakistani intelligence, 25 February 2004, transferring his predecessor, Wali Muhammad.

I heard that the sniper also had explosives on him and detonated himself when people tried to go after him, though there's probably other explanations of what happened. Regardless of the scenarios that could have happened, Benazir had more enemies than hot meals, and her assassination is not really a surprise considering the elements inside and outside of Pakistan that would use her death for some benefit or another. Benazir was no angel, considering the amount of money she looted from her own country, same with Nawaz Sharif.

The lone gunman lie...

that remains the official story by the infamous warren commission.

Who created the lone gunman theory for the warren commission?

Arlen F**king Specter

I shit you NOT!

ARLEN SPECTER AND THE JFK ASSASSINATION

http://www.geocities.com/justicewell/specter.htm
The Single Bullet Theory

To support the scenario that a lone assassin (Oswald) could fire the purported number of shots within an allotted time frame, the Warren Commission concluded that one of the bullets fired that fateful day hit both Kennedy and Connally.  This conclusion came to be known as the "single bullet theory."  However, given the location of Kennedy's and Connally's wounds, for the "single bullet theory" to be correct, the bullet would have had to change course several times, behaving in the manner shown in the diagram (below left).  The chief architect of the "single bullet theory" was the Warren Commission's ambitious junior counsel, Arlen Specter, now U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania.  In the reenactment photo (below right) Specter, with his pointer in hand, attempts to make the "single bullet theory" appear more plausible by deceptively indicating a straight line trajectory for the bullet.

While Specter managed to sell his "single bullet theory" to the Warren Commission, he had trouble selling it to the American public.  A recent New York Times/CBS poll found that 77 percent of Americans rejected the Warren Report's conclusions. For a list of Arlen Specter's other deceptions regarding the JFK assassination click here: Fetzer (compiled by researcher, James Fetzer).

From JM3100's lead on Zia...

General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq was the one who enforced Martial Law for the third time in the brief history of Pakistan. Second child and eldest son of Muhammad Akram, a teacher in the British Army, Zia-ul-Haq was born on August 12, 1924, at Jalandhar.

After receiving his early education from Government High School Simla, he did his B. A. Honors from St. Stephen College, Delhi. He was commissioned in the British Army in 1943 and served in Burma, Malaya and Indonesia during World War II. When the war was over, he decided to join the armored corps. At the time of Independence, like most of the Muslim officers in the British Army, Zia-ul-Haq opted to join the Pakistan Army. As a Major he got an opportunity to do a training course in the Commander and Staff College of United States of America in 1963-64. During the 1965 War, he acted as the Assistant Quarter Master of 101 Infantry Division, which was posted at the Kiran Sector. He remained posted in Jordan from 1967 till 1970, where he was involved in training Jordon's military. He was appointed as Corps Commander of Multan in 1975.

On April 1, 1976, in a surprise move the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, appointed Zia-ul-Haq as Chief of Army Staff, superseding five senior Generals. Bhutto probably wanted somebody as the head of the armed forces who would not prove to be a threat for him, and the best available option was the simple General who was apparently interested only in offering prayers and playing golf. However, history proved that General Zia-ul-Haq proved to be much smarter than Bhutto thought. When political tension reached its climax due to the deadlock between Bhutto and the leadership of Pakistan National Alliance on the issue of general elections, Zia-ul-Haq took advantage of the situation. On July 5, 1977, he carried out a bloodless coup overthrowing Bhutto's government and enforced Martial Law in the country.

After assuming power as Chief Martial Law Administrator, Zia-ul-Haq promised to hold National and Provincial Assembly elections in the next 90 days and to hand over power to the representatives of the Nation. However, in October 1977, he announced the postponement of the electoral plan and decided to start an accountability process of the politicians. In a statement, he said that he changed his decision due to the strong public demand for the scrutiny of political leaders who had indulged in malpractice in the past. The Disqualification Tribunal was formulated and many former Members of Parliament were disqualified from participating in politics at any level for the next seven years. A white paper was also issued which criticized the activities of Pakistan People Party's government under Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

With the retirement of Fazal Ilahi, Zia-ul-Haq also assumed the office of President of Pakistan on September 16, 1978. In the absence of a Parliament, Zia-ul-Haq decided to set up an alternative system. He introduced Majlis-i-Shoora in 1980. Most of the members of the Shoora were intellectuals, scholars, ulema, journalists, economists and professionals belonging to different fields of life. The Shoora was to act as a board of advisors to the President. The idea of establishing this institution was not bad but the main problem was that all 284 members of the Shoora were to be nominated by the President and thus there was no room for dissention.

In the mid 80s, Zia-ul-Haq decided to fulfill his promise of holding elections in the country. But before handing over the power to the public representatives, he decided to secure his position. Referendum was held in the county in December 1984, and the masses were given the option to elect or reject the General as the future President of Pakistan. The question asked in the referendum was phrased in a way that Zia-ul-Haq's victory was related to the process of Islamization in the country. According to the official result, more than 95 percent of the votes were cast in favor of Zia-ul-Haq, thus he was elected as President for the next five years.

After being elected President, Zia-ul-Haq decided to hold elections in the country in February 1985 on a non-party basis. Most of the political parties decided to boycott the elections but election results showed that many victors belonged to one party or the other. To make things easier for himself, the General nominated the Prime Minister from amongst the Members of the Assembly. To many, his nomination of Muhammad Khan Junejo as the Prime Minister was because he wanted a simple person at the post who would act as a puppet in his hands. Before handing over the power to the new Government he made certain Amendments in the Constitution and got them endorsed from the Parliament before lifting the state of emergency in the county. Due to this Eighth Amendment in the Constitution, the powers of the President were increased to an absolute level on the plea of safeguarding national integrity.

As time passed, the Parliamentarians wanted to have more freedom and power. By the beginning of 1988, rumors about the differences between the Prime Minister and Zia-ul-Haq were rife. The general feeling was that the President, who had enjoyed absolute power for eight long years, was not ready to share it with anybody else. On May 29, 1988, Zia-ul-Haq finally dissolved the National Assembly and removed the Prime Minister under article 58(2) b of the amended Constitution. Apart from many other reasons, Junejo's decision to sign the Geneva Accord against the wishes of Zia-ul-Haq proved to be one of the major factors responsible for his removal.

After 11 years, Zia-ul-Haq once again made the same promise to the Nation to hold fresh elections within next 90 days. With Benazir Bhutto back in the country and the Muslim League leadership annoyed with the President over the decision of May 29, Zia-ul-Haq was trapped in the most difficult situation of his political life. The only option left for him was to repeat history and to postpone the elections once again.

However, before taking any decision, Zia-ul-Haq died in an air crash near Bhawalpur on August 17, 1988. The accident proved to be very costly for the country as almost the entire military elite of Pakistan was onboard. Though United States' Ambassador to Pakistan was also killed in the misfortune, yet many do not rule out U. S. involvement in the sabotage. They believe that United States could not afford Pakistan to oppose Geneva Accord and thus they removed the biggest hurdle in their way. The remains of Zia-ul-Haq were buried in the premises of Faisal Mosque, Islamabad. His death brought a large number of mourners to attend his funeral, including a large number of Afghanis, which proved to be one of the biggest in the history of the country.

During his rule, Zia-ul-Haq tried his utmost to maintain close ties with the Muslim World. He made vigorous efforts along with other Muslim States to bring an end to the war between Iran and Iraq. Pakistan joined the Non-Aligned Movement in 1979 during Zia-ul-Haq's term. He also fought a war by proxy in Afghanistan and saved Pakistan from a direct war with Soviet Union.

Elections were held on March 7, 1977. The Pakistan Peoples Party won these elections, but was accused by their opponents, Pakistan National Alliance, of rigging the elections. On March 14, 1977, the Alliance started a series of nationwide protests. Talks between the Alliance and Bhutto government were held in June 1977 and an agreement was reached, but it could not be implemented.

Fresh elections were announced for October 15, 1977. But on July 5, 1977, the Chief of Army Staff, General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, imposed Martial Law and the elections were postponed. General Zia-ul-Haq announced holding of elections within 90 days.

________________________________________________________

When General Zia-ul-Haq took over as the Chief Martial Law Administrator on July 5, 1977, Islamization was given a new boost. General Zia-ul-Haq was a practicing Muslim who raised the slogan of Islam. The Islamic sentiment has always been fully alive in Pakistan. Various governments have used this to their benefit. There are people who doubt Zia's reasons for raising the Islamic slogan; whether it was for political purposes to counter balance Bhutto's appeal or was it to enforce Islam in its true sense.

In his first address to the nation, he declared that Islamic laws would be enforced and that earnest attention would be devoted towards establishing the Islamic society for which Pakistan had been created. General Zia wanted to bring the legal, social, economic and political institutions of the country in conformity with the Islamic principles, values and traditions in the light of Quran and Sunnah, to enable the people of Pakistan to lead their lives in accordance to Islam.

The Government of Zia-ul-Haq took a number of steps to eradicate non-Islamic practices from the country. He introduced the Zakat, Ushr, Islamic Hadood and Penal Code in the country. The Government invited eminent scholars to compile laws about Islamic financing. The Zakat and Ushr Ordinance to Islamize the economic system was promulgated on June 20, 1980. It covered only Islamic organizations, associations and institutions. Zakat was to be deducted from bank accounts of Muslims at the rate of 2.5 percent annually above the balance of Rupees 3,000. Ushr was levied on the yield of agricultural land in cash or kind at the rate of 10 percent of the agricultural yield, annually.

The Government appointed Central, Provincial, District and Tehsil Zakat Committees to distribute Zakat funds to the needy, poor, orphans and widows. Shias were exempted from Zakat deduction from their accounts due to their own religious beliefs. The Zakat was to be deducted by banks on the first day of Ramazan.

A Federal Shariah Court was established to decide cases according to the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah. Appeals against the Lower and High Courts were to be presented before the Shariah Court for hearing. Blasphemy of the Holy Prophet (S. A. W.) would now be punishable by death instead of life imprisonment.

Zia-ul-Haq selected his Majlis-i-Shoora in 1980. It was to be the Islamic Parliament and act as the Parliament of Pakistan in place of the National Assembly. Most of the members of the Shoora were intellectuals, scholars, ulema, journalists, economists and professionals belonging to different fields of life. The Shoora was to act as a board of advisors for the President.

A number of other Islamization programs were carried out including the teaching of Islamic Studies and Arabic, which were made compulsory. Pakistan Studies and Islamic Studies were made compulsorily for B. A., B. Sc., Engineering, M. B. B. S., Commerce, Law and Nursing students. For professional studies, extra marks were given to people who were Hafiz-e-Quran. The first Ombudsman was appointed to rectify the misadministration of the Federal Government, officials and agencies.

A Shariah Council consisting of ulema was established to look into the constitutional and legal matters of the State in order to bring them in line with Islamic thought. Since Islam does not allow interest, On January 1, 1980, Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq introduced a "Profit and Loss Sharing System" according to which an account holder was to share the loss and profit of the bank. The media was also targeted. Television especially was brought under the Islamization campaign, news in Arabic were to be read on both television and radio, female anchor persons were required to cover their heads, the Azan was relayed regularly on radio and television to announce time for prayers.

In the armed forces, the status of the religious teachers was raised to that of a Commissioned Officer. This was done to attract highly qualified individuals from the universities and religious institution to serve on such assignments.

As the government grew further in its Islamic leanings, the numbers of mosques were increased. Ordinance for the sanctity of Ramazan was introduced to pay reverence to the holy month of Ramazan. The Ordinance forbade public drinking and eating during the holy month of Ramazan. A three months imprisonment and a fine of Rupees 500 were imposed for violating the Ordinance. A program to ensure the regularity of prayers called the Nizam-i-Salaat was launched by General Zia himself.

Zia's Government introduced the Hadood Ordinance for the first time in Pakistan, which meant the punishments ordained by the Holy Quran or Sunnah on the use of liquor, theft, adultery and qazf. Under this Ordinance, a culprit could be sentenced to lashing, life imprisonment and in some cases, death by stoning.

The Islamic laws of Zia also included laws for women. Zia put forward the theory of "Chadar Aur Chaar Devari" and this was to be applied to women. Thus, for the first time, a woman could be flogged for adultery. If a rape was reported, four witnesses were to be provided otherwise, legally, the rape could be termed adultery. Another law, The Law of Evidence, under the Shariah laws proposed that the testimony of a woman was not equal to that of a man. In legal matters, two women would have to stand witness against the testimony of one man. The status of women was thus arbitrarily cut in half by Zia. There was little consensus amongst Muslim authorities over this law. The lack of consensus among the re1igious authorities combined with countrywide protests forced Zia to hold back on making the Shariah law the law of the country.

General Zia-ul-Haq wanted to make Pakistan the citadel of Islam so that it could play an honorable and prominent role for the Islamic world. The steps taken by General Zia were in this direction and had a long-term impact; the Zakat tax introduced by General Zia still holds and so does many of his the other laws.

General Zia’s grandson

…has “given a lot of thought to democracy”

And found that “while it is the ideal solution, I’m still not sure if I can see an effective democratic government in this relatively new and developing nation”. He goes on to write, “As tragic as it is, most Pakistanis, including the educated elite, are unaware of the meaning of ‘democracy’”.

Omar ul Haq got one thing right.

If you want to know more about the radical/secular issues in Pakistan, download and read the pdf:

THE SHIFTING QIBLAH: Islamisation under General Zia Ul Haq and Secularism under General Pervez Musharraf – The Pakistani Experience
By F.S. AIJAZUDDIN
[Paper for Conference on the Future of Secularism, sponsored by the Yale Center for International and Area Studies and Yale Center for the Study of Globalization, Yale University, 26-27 March 2004.]

I. THE QIBLAH IN ISLAM
‘Will Muslim Pakistan ever become a secular state?” It is a question that its founder Mohammed Ali Jinnah must have asked of himself a thousand times, from the moment a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent that he had been championing became a constitutional inevitability. It is a question every subsequent ruler of Pakistan since 14 August 1947 has tried to answer.

SECOND OPINION: General Zia’s legacy of cocky generals —Khaled Ahmed’s TV Review

The IJI received illegal funding from the ISI. The money was gouged by Aslam Beg from a banker. Zia promoted two cocky officers as generals and both gave grief to the nation. The Supreme Court chickened out against General Aslam Beg and General Asad Durrani. Later, the army chiefs too chickened out General Zia gave us Islamisation, proxy jihad, and trouble with Afghanistan and India by covertly interfering in both countries. But he also gave us a breed of generals that have made our lives difficult. His legacy is so strong that erring generals are not called to account by anyone, including the army.

GEO (2 August 2005) Iftikhar Ahmad in his programme Jawabdeh asked General (Retd) KM Arif why General Zia disbanded the Hyderabad Tribunal after first telling Bhutto not to disband it. Arif said that the Tribunal should not have been set up at all. At first when Bhutto tried to undo it the army expressed its objection but later after imprisoning Bhutto Zia disbanded it himself. It also came to light in the interview that Baloch leader Bizenjo after his release from Hyderabad came to Zia and asked for a new car. He got a Mercedes. Arif agreed.  He also agreed that Zia wanted Jatoi as prime minister instead of Junejo but Jatoi betrayed him by going to the UAE and meeting Khar whom Zia did not think reliable. Arif said Zia and General Chishti had been together in their careers and Zia used to often say that he would ‘go together’ with him. Chishti wanted to be promoted and not retired, but the opposite happened.  Arif joined other generals like Abbasi and Chishti to advise Zia not to overthrow the Constitution but Zia found that he could not keep the Constitution. Zia promoted Durrani and Hamid Gul although Gul’s name was not in the recommended list. Zia did not want to punish Akhtar Abdur Rehman after the Ojhri blast and that could be the reason why Junejo had to fall. Arif maintained that martial law should never be imposed. Zia correctly wanted Jatoi. Later when President Ghulam Ishaq Khan overthrew the PPP government in 1990 he chose Jatoi as caretaker prime minister. The IJI was created by the ISI and Jatoi was made its head. The IJI received illegal funding from the ISI. The money actually belonged to the people but was gouged by Aslam Beg from Yunus Habib, a banker. Zia promoted two cocky officers as generals and both gave grief to the nation.  Asad Durrani as ISI chief bribed the IJI and confessed to it at the Supreme Court which chickened out against Aslam Beg and him. The army chiefs after 1990 also chickened out and thus began a series of ‘weak’ army chiefs who actually complained that they felt unsafe in their offices!  Gul lost Jalalabad to a Najibullah that the Soviets had abandoned in Kabul. Later he bothered army chief General Asif Nawaz, even tried to overthrow the PPP through Imran Khan (who agreed) and Edhi (who did not). And Gul was retired at that time! Despite denials, the ISI had ‘rogue cells’ owing allegiance to him. Asad Durrani survives, cocky as ever on TV, and careless with words, even when his opposite discussants are humble in the extreme.

PTV (28 July 2005) discussed Indo-US defence pact with General (Retd) Jamshed Ayaz and Prof Salma. Prof Salma thought that under the pact India and the US would be able to stop ships in mid-ocean and examine them together. And to this Pakistan would show soft response. General Ayaz disagreed with the view.  He said that Russia and China were determined to oppose the spread of hegemony of any power in the Asian oceans. He said Pakistan was strong but India had gone and subordinated itself to the US. Prof Salma thought that Muslims would be treated differently from other nations. India’s increased power after the defence pact would affect its neighbours but the neighbours would show soft response to that.  Prof Salma was inordinately depressed by her perceived inability of Pakistan to stand up to challenges. Her ‘soft response’ routine was most embarrassing. She should see the programme again to hear what she sounded like. Of course what she wants is Pakistan up on its hind legs, but that is not realistic. She should stay home the day she thinks Pakistan is too prostrated by the Americans to do anything. She took the bait too easily on a possible Indo-American search of Muslim ships on high seas.

ARY (28 July 2005) Dr Shahid Masood interviewed General Safdar Hussain who said that Uzbek and Tajik children were abducted and brought to South Waziristan by the terrorists. The terrorists were not mujahideen who got left behind after the first Afghan war against the Soviets. The new militants were under the command of Qari Tahir Yuldashev. They were not even good Muslims but they obeyed the commander.  He said local people used to be in sympathy with the Uzbeks when there was an operation against them in Afghanistan, but now there was no one. Baitullah Mehsud had 800 people with him; now there were none. Abdullah Mehsud was a nobody and was abandoned by the ulema. He said he had not paid anything to anyone but had used political dialogue. Politician ulema like Merajuddin and Abdul Malik were on his side after dialogue. After negotiations some ulema declared the jihad un-Islamic. He said he had his doubts about foreign interference in Pakistan because neighbouring states had their own interests. Some states were not in favour of Pakistan deriving any economic advantage in the region.  He said peace would depend on the stability of Afghanistan. He said he knew a bit of Pushto and was in favour of providing a lot of economic incentives to the people of Waziristan. Dr Masood is too convinced himself of the MMA point of view to ask any probing questions on the Yuldashev phenomenon. He also ignored the important Uighur and Hizb al-Tahrir factor. So we missed an opportunity to test the general on how much he actually knew.

BBC (1 august 2005) Tariq Ramzan and Muhammad Aman discussed mosques and imams in the UK and agreed that Pakistani imams were not right for the British Muslim youth and had actually driven them to more extremist elements. Muhammad Aman as a Pakistani said that since he was himself a cleric he could understand the damage the Pakistani imams had done to British mosques.  Tariq Ramzan said that in Europe the Muslims will have to decide to adopt European culture while keeping their religious tenets in tact. He said extremists will have to be deported. He said there was no running away from the obligation to integrate with local culture and values.

Tariq Ramzan as a grandson of the Ikhwan founder Hassan Al Banna is an important voice in Europe. He actually knows what is coming to the Muslims in Europe and is sounding a timely warning. *

GE/Murdoch/AOL control the State Department Message System

We are no longer allowed to see press conferences without seeing explosions and fires in the background.  This seems to be a major violation of the gov's responsibility to keep us informed and the media's responsibility of staying away from conflicts of interest.

Conflicts of interest like GE making all of their money from genocides that they promote on MSNBC.

GE/MSNBC has a team of war mongering "experts" to explain how...

"Bhutto was a corrupt piece of shit and deserved to die."  They then say how "sublime and deity-like Musharref is and how he is such a great leader that deserves the US full support of funding and meat grinder fuel."  How the hell did this motley crew of media "hit men" show up in such a limited amount of time. I hope you realize the quotes are "sane-enhanced."

This whole thing was staged including all of the media reporting.

Check back to the first assassination.  Same messaging and same talking points...

"Bhutto is a corrupt vile succubus and Musharref is the only hope against terrorists."

BTW - Here is Giuliani's official response.

There's also been a lot of mention in our press that the Taliban flee fighting in Afghanistan, cross the border into Pakistan to regroup, then come back to fight.

So I'm sure our gov't would support some kind of "intervention" in Pakistan as well.

Yeah, I know... rediculous.  A cursory check shows that the Taliban is Sunni and Iran is 90% Shi'a, 8% Sunni.

These are the exact talking points that GE/AOL/Murdoch are feeding the public.

We like to go a little bit deeper that the hegelian dialectic on this forum.

#1] Snipers do not get close to use explosives. There were at least 2 snipers besides the patsy "suicide" bomber that may have been detonated by others.  Often what we call suicide bombers are kidnapped muslims that are strapped with explosives and told to go near sites for explosion or their entire family will be wiped out.  They are then detonated by others.  There are nearly no actual "suicide bombers" that the US does not personally control.

#2] The whole stuff about "Benzir was the anti-christ" does not work anymore as there are obviously more evil people than she was running around intelligence agencies leading up to Rothschild/Rockefeller.
