I knew I loved coconuts for a reason. When I was a kid and visited the Yucatan Peninsula on vacation I would grab them from under the tree and just dig in. Delicious.

I saw this in a TV show the other day and when I saw this post decided to look a little further. There is a liquid in the young coconuts that is not the milk, but a coconut water. Apparently it has been known as a great substitute for plasma since WWII days.

What I mean is that alot of stuff taken from natural sources is then put through other processes such as pastueurization, radiation ect.

I, myself, love coconut water. 

Caveat:  Make sure you buy organic coconut water, one that has been shipped frozen because if not chances are the coconuts they shipped are shipped in formaldehyde, and may have been sprayed with pesticides.

I got all excited when I started to find out about coconut oil. But my experience with it has not been great. First of all the candida (which was doing much better) absolutely exploded.

Secondly, I don’t know what this talk is about it being good for weight loss, because within a week I got noticeably fatter.

I’ve cut down to one table spoon per day, and I’m afraid to say that I’m not noticing any health benefits… at all.

Last night I was listening to one of Dr Joel Wallchas recorded talks and in the question and answer section he said that coconut oil is the same as all other oils, and basically said to stay away from it. I really wish he could have expanded a little bit.

I’m so disappointed.

First of all, you don't get fat from coconut oil. Second, no one can get NOTICEABLY fatter in a week on anything. It would take longer. But if it happened to you, it's definitely not the coconut oil.

You were probably eating and drinking junk with High Fructose Corn Syrup in it. Now that will make you fat because that garbage accumulates in fat cells because the body doesn't know how to handle it and considers it a foreign body. Many items on your grocery shelf are full of HFCS which is toxic to your health (EX: ice cream, candy, soda pop, chocolate syrup, etc)!

I definitely agree there, Jo.  HFCS and MSG is making people fat!

I do a tablespoon of coconut oil daily.  When I first started taking it, it helped me to lose weight and keep it off.

Its also good as a deodorant/antiperspirant. Mix coconut oil with corn starch and baking soda, and apply to armpits. It can last for days, I've tested it, 3 days (if you dont shower) and you wont have a single smell of BO or any odor.

I've used it for years when I grew an allergic reaction to store bought deodorants/antiperspirants, including the "organic" and "natural" ones. I used to use Gillette Cool Wave for almost 15 years, and in the end it gave me weird symptoms. Then I stopped using all store bought personal hygiene/cleaning products.

The things that people used in the past (50 to 100 years ago) work better than all the things they sell now.

Oh ye, I remember now, I’d got it all mixed up. I was actually eating high fructose corn syrup and soda not coconut oil. Roll Eyes

Just goes to show how random people on the internet can know intimate details, like your diet, better than you can. Roll Eyes
