The trees were planted just for the tests. Just like the little town was built just for the test. The footage is from a documentary, its not the original footage.

You could probably post anything you want for that video and get it to say anything, because it is such bad quality. And they did run full electrical to all houses, they did built a small town as real as possible. I imagine the cameras would be protected and supported to the best they could be. The whole purpose was to capture the footage to see what would happen.

Also how do we even know if this is original footage, and not from another 50's documentary? I have seen some of that footage myself in other programs. Now i do believe there are atom bombs, what im not to sure about is the after effects of the bombs.

was all hype ... Smoke & Mirrors ... as well as the
Space Race for the most part. So, the notion that the

I agree Doc.  Very interesting!  I had not even thought about it, just believed what I saw...I too believe there are atom bombs, but I am having trouble trying to explain why the geiger counter still goes haywire anywhere near Chernobyl, how is it that Hiroshima and Nagasaki are fine?

Chernobyl wasnt a bomb, it was a melt down. It had a way smaller explosion from the pressure, it didnt split the atom, it just released a huge amount of radioactive gas and steam into the air, that settled onto the ground and was absorbed. I dont think you can compare the 2, not to sure though. Although i do know that some of the effects in Chernobyl isnt as bad as first thought.

You know, I live out here in New Mexico ... ground zero you might say!
Lots of connections to the history of the bomb and nuke power. If I am not
wrong, the silos around here in the Rio Grande valley are said
to hold the world's largest concentration of ICBMs.

Then there is Sandia Labs, Los Alamos a little north of here, White Sands and Trinity Site
(first nuke explosion site) a little to the south, etc. The National Nuclear Museum is here,
with all sorts of interesting stuff ... hardware, gadgets, radio/TV recordings ... the original
typewritten letter from Einstein to FDR confirming that a Nuke Bomb was indeed possible,
for instance. They have lifesize mockups of Fat Man and Little Boy (surprisingly small).
A day at the place is a real education. I have been several times and will probably
go again soon with my son's 5th grade class.

that is the crux of the problem isnt it.

We deffinatly have nuclear weapons, they exist.
Now perhaps they aren't as powerful as they are hyped up to be, and perhaps back then they needed the fear factor to be greater so they staged footage to prop up their claims, lets not forget, these where the first nuclear/atomic devices, im sure they where crude/plagued with problems/ did not work efficiently..... so maybe they did a little camera magic to make the weapons look more devastating and powerful as a propaganda tool.

There is just too much footage of other nuclear explosions/tests to dismiss all of them as scale model explosions.... although looking at those trees lined up like that . . . taking a look at the camera angles and backgrounds of most of the scenes, there is a very real possibility that most of the footage in the video was fake.

Why the black backgrounds? (the filters perhaps? i don't know...)
I don't think they actually even had the camera technology to filter the nuclear explosions to the point that one would be able to see the fluid movements in the explosions.... I would come to the conclusion that the footage is heavily edited / doctored for purposes of propaganda.
