One of the fiercest gun-control advocates in Congress, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), pounced on the shooting massacre in Tucson Sunday, promising to introduce legislation as soon as Monday targeting the high-capacity ammunition the gunman used.

McCarthy ran for Congress after her husband was gunned down and her son seriously injured in a shooting in 1993 on a Long Island commuter train.
“My staff is working on looking at the different legislation fixes that we might be able to do and we might be able to introduce as early as tomorrow,” McCarthy told POLITICO in a Sunday afternoon phone interview.

Gun control activists cried it was time to reform weapons laws in the United States, almost immediately after a gunman killed six and injured 14 more, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, in Arizona on Saturday.

Many said that people with a history of mental instability, like the alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, should not be able to buy a gun — and no one should be able to buy stockpiles of ammunition used by the 22-year-old assailant.

McCarthy said she plans to confer with House Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to see “if we can work something through” in the coming week.

McCarthy’s spokesman confirmed the legislation will target the high-capacity ammunition clips the Arizona gunman allegedly used in the shooting, but neither he or the congresswoman offered any further details.

“Again, we need to look at how this is going to work, to protect people, certainly citizens, and we have to look at what I can pass,” McCarthy said. “I don’t want to give the NRA – excuse the pun – the ammunition to come at me either.”

Pennsylvania Rep. Robert Brady, a Democrat from Philadelphia, told...

They are working fast to restrict our gun rights once again .

Another vocal supporter for gun control, Illinois Rep. Mike Quigley, told POLITICO that he hopes “something good” can come from the Arizona tragedy – perhaps discussion on a new assault weapon ban, sales at gun shows and tracing measures.

Loughner legally purchased his weapon – a Glock 19 with an extended magazine – from an Arizona store. The same kind of extended magazine was illegal under the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004.

“The ability to buy a weapon that fires hundreds of bullets in less than a minute,” said Quigley. “He had an additional magazine capability. That’s not what a hunter needs. That’s not what someone needs to defend their home. That’s what you use to hunt people.”

After the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007, in which a student with a history of psychological problems killed 33 and injured 25 others, lawmakers immediately started looking at gun control reforms both in the state and atthe federal level.

Then-Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine issued an executive order making it harder for people who have been committed to mental health treatment centers to buy a gun.

In 2008 President George W. Bush signed a law expanding the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which registered gun dealers use, to include more comprehensive reporting of mental health records. Under the current law, it is illegal for anyone who has been “adjudicated as a mental defective or committed to a mental institution” to purchase a firearm, according to the FBI’s website.

THE JUDGE THAT THE STRIKE TEAM EXECUTED ON AMERICAN SOIL HATED THE NEW WORLD ORDER!!

HE DESPISED THE NEW WORLD ORDER!

HE WAS TELLING THE NEW WORLD ORDER TO GO F*CK THEMSELVES!

HE HATED UNCONSTITUTIONAL BS LAWS AGAINST THE 2ND AMENDMENT!

HE EXPOSED THE BRADY BILL AS ANTI-CONSTITUTIONAL!

THE PEOPLE THAT ORDERED HIS MURDER ARE THE ONES WHO BENEFIT FROM HITS ON THE 2ND AMENDMENT!

ALSO, THERE HAS NOT EVEN BEEN AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE CRIME SCENE TO SEE IF IT WAS 3 SHOOTERS, 4 SHOOTERS, 10 SHOOTERS, WHAT RIFLES WERE USED, WHICH SAS/CIA HIT TEAMS LIKELY MATCH UP WITH THE EVIDENCE, ETC.

Let us see what an Israeli expert on terrorism has to say about such attacks with such bullshit patsies that get thown at us like fish to a seal...

Israeli Terror Expert 1998: "FBI might fall for a false-flag operation"
The FBI might fall for a false-flag operation. A terrorist state might use American extremists, for example, to carry out such an attack. The FBI might catch the extremists, but not understand they were minor figures, and present them instead as major figures.

What an awesome dad.  I would have said the same thing.

Pray for him and his family.

What a beautiful little girl--an innocent victim.

A victim of an assassination of a judge.  He was the target IMO.

Congressman Pete King to Introduce Gun Safety Bill After Arizona Shooting

Published January 11, 2011 | FoxNews.com

Rep. Peter King said Tuesday he plans to introduce a new gun safety bill in Congress in the wake of the mass shooting in Arizona that killed six people and wounded 14 others, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz.

King said his bill would make it illegal to knowingly carry a gun within a thousand feet of "certain high-profile" government officials.

"It is imperative that we do all that we can to give law enforcement the tools they need to ensure the safety of New Yorkers and prevent an attack before it happens," King said during an appearance at a Manhattan event with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and other officials from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania who discussed ways to prevent another shooting tragedy.

Well how about a law preventing Rothschild Mafia criminals from publicly offering to pay for them on our airwaves?

Transcript of Reagan's statements: "Excuse me folks, I'm going to say this. We ought to find the people who are doing this, take them out and shoot them. Really. You take them out, they are traitors to this country, and shoot them. You have a problem with that? Deal with it. You shoot them. You call them traitors, that's what they are, and you shoot them dead. I'll pay for the bullets." Reagan adds, "How about you take Mark Dice out and put him in the middle of a firing range. Tie him to a post, don't blindfold him, let it rip and have some fun with Mark Dice."

Third gun control bill proposed since Tucson shootings
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/01/ny-dem-proposes-guncontrol-bill-tucson-shootings/

High-profile gun violence has historically renewed legislative interest in the cause of gun control, and the shootings of twenty people in Tucson, Arizona is no exception -- only this time, the measures face steeper hurdles than before.

Rep. Gary Ackerman, a Democrat from New York, is the third congressman to propose a gun control bill in the wake of the murders on Saturday. (The other two are also New Yorkers.)

His bill seeks to accomplish a goal other gun control advocates have tried and failed to do in recent years: close the "fire sale loophole," which permits unauthorized gun dealers to sell firearms at gun shows and allows buyers to purchase them without an otherwise mandatory FBI background check.

Jared Loughner, the 22-year-old accused of perpetrating Saturday's shootings, purchased his firearm legally, passing an instant background check in a state many consider to have the most lax gun laws in the nation. Arizona does not require a permit for concealed carry.

"After this weekend’s tragedy, it's clear that Congress must close troubling loopholes in federal gun control laws that let firearms fall into the hands of convicted felons, fugitives, domestic violence perpetrators and severely emotionally disturbed individuals," Ackerman said. "Every gun sold should require a background check, period."

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an outspoken gun control advocate, launched a media campaign though his group "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" last year to push lawmakers to close the loophole. But Congress never took up the issue.

Republican Rep. Peter King has put forth legislation sought to ban guns carried within 1,000 feet of members of Congress. Democratic Rep. Carolyn McCarthy announced plans for a measure restricts the buying and selling of high-capacity ammunition clips, like the one purchased legally and used by 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner in Tucson. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) has voiced his support for the same proposal.

Ackerman, King and McCarthy, all New Yorkers, enjoy the support of fellow state lawmakers Bloomberg and Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel of New York's Harlem district.

But the measures face tough odds in Congress, which has grown increasingly adverse to gun control legislation in the last fifteen years, largely in response to the vast political influence of the pro-gun lobby.

Already, the House's two senior-most Republicans have rejected King's proposal, as many conservatives argue that stronger gun laws are neither necessary nor helpful in preventing further tragedies like Tucson.

Over the last two decades, the National Rifle Associated and other gun rights groups have outspent gun control advocates by over 20-to-1 on lobbying, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics.

The Obama White House has remained mum on the issue, upsetting gun control activists who expected more from the president.

Carolyn McCarthy bill tougher than Clinton-era law

By SHIRA TOEPLITZ | 1/13/11 1:26 PM EST

The fiercest gun-control advocate in Congress released the text of a bill she plans to introduce next week that would outlaw high-capacity magazines like the one a gunman used to shoot 20 people in a matter of seconds in Arizona this weekend.

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy’s (D-N.Y.) bill also goes further than than the assault weapon ban that expired in 2004, outlawing the sale or transfer of clips that hold more than ten rounds, even those obtained before the law takes effect, according to a copy of the bill obtained by POLITICO.

“The only purpose for the existence of these devices is to be able to shoot as many people as possible as quickly as possible,” McCarthy wrote in a letter to her colleagues that accompanied the bill. “There is no reason that these devices should be available to the general public.”

The bill faces an uphill climb in the new Republican-controlled House. An aide to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said it’s unlikely that he would support it.

Still, since McCarthy floated her plans for a gun-control bill on Sunday, three other New Yorkers have followed suit, saying they planned to introduce bills as well. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) said he will propose a companion bill to McCarth’s in the Senate.
