That's about a half hour before reports began coming in about dead birds falling from the sky in Beebe."

And don't forget to look at the photograph:

Hundreds of fish have been found dead in a Manchester pond in the latest bizarre mass animal deaths. Experts say the freezing weather caused the deaths. Nature lover Stuart Hall, 60, spotted the fish in the pond on Chudleigh Close, Stockport, during a walk near his home. The 500 fish - many thought to be large bream and pike - were set in the ice on the pond. Mr Hall, of Mostyn Road, Hazel Grove, said he was worried the water may be poisoned. He said: "I was shocked, it was awful to see all that life just gone. It's like the 'birds dropping from the trees' scenario, but on a much larger scale. "When you love nature and the countryside it's heartbreaking. There is no sign of life here whatsoever - not one duck." It’s the latest in a series of strange animal deaths around the world which has claimed the lives of birds including doves, coots and starlings and several species of fish. Tony Bielderman from Stockport and District Anglers' Federation, which manages the pond, said: "We do not believe there is any pollution as such, but that this is a natural occurrence which has happened during the extremely cold weather we have suffered for a month or so. "The numbers involved are 400-500 fish - I wouldn't think it's the full stock by any means." The Environment Agency said people should contact them if they suspected fish were in trouble elsewhere. A spokesman said: "This has happened in a few places across the north west. Ice forms on the top of the water and cuts down the oxygen, causing the fish to struggle. "Lots of fishing clubs have aeration equipment which pumps oxygen into the water and sometimes we may advise that the ice is broken in some places, so that oxygen can start to be recreated under the ice." http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/woalert_read.php?glide=BH-20110112-29172-GBR

Yes, hmm, the comments seem robotic, responding to the technology not the incident. Notice the time as well, it was way past new years and the fireworks theory. A streak of some sort across the sky at the very end, and a big blob of lights or something just as it hit. Lightning? Hail? Weird.

First dead birds, then dead fish ... now crickets
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41034340/ns/us_news-environment/?gt1=43001

PORT ALLEN, La. — A virus has killed millions of crickets raised to feed pet reptiles and those kept in zoos.

The cricket paralysis virus has disrupted supplies to pet shops across North America as a handful of operators have seen millions of their insects killed.
Some operations have gone bankrupt and others have closed indefinitely until they can rid their facilities of the virus.

Cricket farms started in the 1940s as a source of fish bait, but the bulk of sales now are to pet supply companies, reptile owners and zoos, although people also eat some.

Most U.S. farms are in the South, but suppliers from Pennsylvania to California also raise crickets.

The virus had swept through European cricket farms in 2002. It was first noticed in 2009 in the U.S. and Canada.

The virus marks the latest in a recent series of mass animal deaths.

United Kingdom Wales More dead animals have continued to show up today - as 100 dead FISH add to the toll. Welsh families awoke this morning to find 100 dead carp, bream and roach fish floating in the waters of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal in Cwmbran. Colin Breeze, 62, spotted them and has now written to Torfaen Council to try and solve the puzzle. He said: "Perhaps it is the end of the world. "I think they could have been frozen in the ice, but at the same time it was a bit of a shock especially with all these animal deaths we keep hearing about. A spokeswoman for Environment Agency Wales said they had visited the site and said the council would remove the fish. She said a lack of oxygen was the most likely reason for the fish deaths, as readings they took were very low. A spokeswoman for Torfaen council confirmed they would remove the fish today. The grisly discover comes after thousands of dead fish were found floating in Florida after a cold snap and 200 lifeless birds were discovered in Texas. More fishy deaths have seen 100 tons of sardines, croaker and catfish wash up on the Brazilian coast, New Zealand have hundreds of deceased fish and Britain find 40,000 devil crabs. Yesterday 300 grackles fell from the sky in Alabama and were found along the l-65 highway. Samples are being analysed to work out their cause of death, but one theory is that they collided with a large truck       http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/woalert_read.php?glide=BH-20110114-29191-GBR

Azerbaijan Gulistan Province

Mass fish death was recorded in the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea," Iranian Gulistan Province's Nature Conservation Department Deputy Head Mohsen Jafarnejad said. Mass death of fish in the Caspian Sea is recorded on the west coast of the Gulistan Province. A large number of dead mullet have washed ashore, Shomalnews.com reported. "An analysis of samples taken from dead fish was carried out, and now we are waiting for their results," Jafarnejad said. The Gulistan Province is located in northeastern Iran. The center of the province is the Gurgan city. In recent years, such cases are observed in various places around the world. Scientists suggest that the causes of the recent events may be a global disaster or testing of biological weapons.

Even if you factor out for cold weather, there is a spike in die-offs of at least 30% by my reckoning, if reports that there are nearly 200 every year are correct.

Something is happening statistically that needs to be explained IMO.

(I don't believe the cold weather is necessarily just Mother Nature either this year. No, I don't believe in AGW either -- three words:  "Medieval Warming Period".)

Are these events being tracked as far as the results of tests as they are announced? This will be spread over several weeks as each tests are done.

Timeline of recent mysterious bird, fish deaths
Wednesday, January 12, 2011
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Editor of NaturalNews.com

(NaturalNews) The recent mysterious deaths of birds and fish are causing alarm among naturalists around the world. Birds are literally falling dead out of the sky, and fish are washing up dead on shores and rivers across North America and around the world. The reaction from the mainstream media seems strangely subdued, as if they're all just blowing this off as some unexplained quirk about the natural world that should be largely ignored.

NaturalNews readers think differently. We are concerned when thousands of dead birds fall out of the sky for no apparent reason. The sky itself may not be falling, but previously live animals are clearly falling out of it. If that's not enough reason to wonder what the heck is happening to our planet, then what is?

These are clear signs that something is wrong. Red flags from nature, if you will. Here's the timeline of recent deaths that have been reported:

200 dead cows found in Wisconsin field
.Posted: Saturday, January 15, 2011 9:08 am

TOWN OF STOCKTON (AP) — An investigation is under way after 200 dead cows were found in a field in the Town of Stockton.

The Portage County sheriff’s office says the owner of the cattle has been working with a local veterinarian and it’s believed the animals died from the IBR/BVD virus. The virus can cause respiratory and reproductive problems.

Samples from the dead cows have been sent to Madison for testing.

Authorities say there is no threat to humans or other animals.

The Most Compelling Theories About Dying Birds and Fish
http://consciouslifenews.com/the-most-compelling-theories-about-dying-birds-and-fish/114432/
Posted by Greg Scott Friday, January 7th, 2011

According to the activistpost.com the mainstream has missed the mark on the dying avian and fish mystery.  They claim that lightning, collisions, hail, high voltage power lines, and possibly fireworks are to blame for animal deaths on a mass scale. Meteor showers have been suggested by the authors but less likely to have killed both birds and fish.  There is talk of the New Madrid fault line which goes through the middle eastern part of the U.S.  After the last BP oil spill, dispersant, Corexit and gas fracking it isn’t hard to imagine the impact on wildlife. Possible scientific testing by the government according to this article could be a culprit.  The fact that only specific species have died off beg the question if this is a genetically targeted weapon.  Along those lines there is very little long term research on genetically modified organisms.  The unpredictable mixture of GMO with native species may have detrimental effects on those organisms that rely on them for food.  Bees and bats are also dying off and little is known about the causes.  The article does mention that a corporate office for Monsanto is in Arkansas. For regular readers of Consciouslifenews.com, the chemtrails, persistent jet contrails, geoengineering or just plain aircrap might be the cause.  The cobweb like remnants of chemtrails have been determined to be composed of aluminum and bromide according to the “What in the World are they Spraying” film by Edward Griffin. We may not know the real intent of the highly secret HAARP project but frequencies are being used to manipulate the atmosphere and when certain animals can’t hear they will die.  Many animals have internal GPS systems that could be short circuited by HAARP.

COREXIT, fracking, HAARP, chemtrails -- those are all high on my list.

But, yes, the definite answer is far from clear yet.

Good article.

Mysterious infection is killing B.C. salmon

MARK HUME
VANCOUVER— From Friday's Globe and Mail
Published Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 6:55PM EST
Last updated Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 7:58AM EST

Large numbers of sockeye salmon are dying in the Fraser River, before spawning, because of a mysterious virus, new research suggests.

Historical records show that some fish always die en route to their spawning beds, but since the early 1990s the problem has become increasingly acute – with more than two million fish dying in some years. Researchers have long puzzled over what was causing the seemingly healthy fish to suddenly stop swimming and turn belly up.

A large team of researchers from the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans and three Canadian universities has now found most of the fish that die before spawning have a common “genomic signature” – or a pattern that shows changes have taken place in an array of genes activated to fight infection.

“Our hypothesis is that the genomic signal associated with elevated mortality is in response to a virus infecting fish before river entry and that persists to the spawning areas,” says the report published in the journal Science on Thursday.

Exotic Newcastle Disease Killed Wild Birds

FLORIDA, US - Exotic Newcastle disease (ND) has been found to be the cause of wild birds in Pinellas County.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is thanking the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary for detecting a deadly disease in birds, reports WTSP.

The sanctuary says some of its rescuers were on their usual searches for injured birds in the wild when they came across some sick cormorants last Friday.

Native to Florida, the cormorant is a small black bird. They can be seen diving under water or drying their wings.

Mass Fish Kill In Iranian Sector Of Caspian Sea Blamed On Bio Weapons?
January 15, 2011 by Alex

RSOE

Mass fish death was recorded in the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea,” Iranian Gulistan Province’s Nature Conservation Department Deputy Head Mohsen Jafarnejad said. Mass death of fish in the Caspian Sea is recorded on the west coast of the Gulistan Province.

A large number of dead mullet have washed ashore, Shomalnews.com reported. “An analysis of samples taken from dead fish was carried out, and now we are waiting for their results,” Jafarnejad said. The Gulistan Province is located in northeastern Iran.

The center of the province is the Gurgan city. In recent years, such cases are observed in various places around the world. Scientists suggest that the causes of the recent events may be a global disaster or testing of biological weapons.

And now 40,000 acres of wheat dead in Eastern Oregon:

Yeah, that's not serious at all.  Don't worry about it, America.  Go back to sleep.  It's nothing.  Happens all the time.

This disturbs me on two levels.  First, the story itself, second, as an Oregon native, the fact that it was never reported in Oregon's largest newspaper, The Oregonian.

Good.  I aim to disturb.  (In a good way I hope.)

Chemtrails would be my prime suspect in that one.  Alumimum altering Ph in the soil.  Wheat don't like Al.

Bioagents of some sort would be next on my list.

Several causes possible in wheat mystery
By MATTHEW WEAVER

Capital Press

An Oregon Department of Agriculture pesticide administrator says there may be several causes for the yellowing and death of 4,000 acres of wheat in Umatilla County.

The case is still under investigation.

"With this many fields affected, there is the likelihood that there could be multiple causal agents exhibiting some form of symptom or stress onto the plant at the same time," said Dale Mitchell, assistant administrator of the department's pesticides division in Salem.

The size and distribution of the fields make the circumstances unique, Mitchell said.

Besides pesticide, other causes could be a new disease or pest problem or the climatic conditions at the time.

"There could have been just the right conditions for multiple things going on," he said. "It's almost like the perfect storm -- there could have been soil conditions, temperatures and weather patterns pulling down the vigor of the plants."

Meanwhile, in neighboring Morrow County, 30,000 to 40,000 acres of wheat demonstrated yellowing and purple tips. Oregon State University's Morrow County Extension is investigating that problem.

The original 17 complaints in Umatilla County in November indicated concerns over applications of weed killer near the winter wheat fields.

The Hermiston, Ore., ODA field investigator collected samples from each field, and the department is analyzing them.

Mitchell said the original concerns were associated with so-called "inversion" conditions. During an inversion, pesticide may be suspended and move laterally onto other areas. Such instances are not usually caused by wind, but by other climatic conditions, he said.

Mitchell said glyphosate does not usually create this degree of symptoms over a large area, even during an inversion.

"I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but I find it odd," he said.

The department requested information from commercial pesticide applicators in the area. The department also asked growers to provide information about pesticide applications, cultural practices, seed varieties and seed treatments.

At the same time, department pathology staff and OSU Extension specialists are looking for other potential causes.

Preliminary information indicates some disease symptoms are present. The funguses rhizoctonia, pythium, fusarium and phytophtora are possible in some samples, Mitchell said.

Any conclusions about possible pesticide involvement or violations is three to four months away, he said, due to the number and complexity of cases.

"It will be quite a while until we start piecing any conclusions together," he said.

Most growers in Umatilla County were replanting their fields.

Dave Paul, regional director for the USDA Risk Management Agency in Spokane, advised growers to contact their crop insurance agents and provide a notice of damage.

The damage occurred before the final planting date of Nov. 30, so producers would be required to replant at their own expense, he said.

For farmers who are insured, planted winter wheat that's damaged to the extent growers would not further care for it must be replanted to maintain insurance, "unless the insurance company agrees that replanting is not practical," Paul said.

If replanting a winter wheat is not practical, spring wheat must be planted, Paul said.

Pelicans turn up sick, dead off Jacksonville coast
Founder of sanctuary treating the birds blames chemicals in the water.
Posted: January 17, 2011 - 6:43pm

 By JUSTIN SACHAROFF

The Times-Union

Hundreds of Eastern brown pelicans, some with missing wings and frostbite, have been injured or killed in the St. Johns River the past couple of weeks in the Mayport area.

The exact reason is unknown but the cold weather could have caused hypothermia when the birds landed in the water. The pelicans have been losing a protective coating they have on their body to shield their feathers from becoming saturated by water.

Cindy Mosling, co-founder of the Bird Emergency Aid and Kare Sanctuary on Big Talbot Island, thinks chemicals in the water could be the culprit.

371 Dead Birds Fall from Sky on LA's Sunset Blvd; Similar to California, Arkansas, Louisiana Bird Drops

371 dead birds fell from the sky over Los Angeles, California, and hit the pavement at Sunset and Cahuenga. In the great shadow of the CNN building laid scattered hundreds of pigeons, most of them dead. This is another incident of dead birds falling from the sky, as has been seen in California, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Sweden, Italy, and other places around the world.

we should keep a running total - 300 here, 500 there sounds not much, added together makes for more disturbing picture.

might be a way to attract sheeple attention / msm to this issue (which has been black balled in the UK - no mention since arkansas!)

Yankton Sees Bird Kill-Off

More than 200 starlings were found dead in downtown Yankton Monday. Officials attribute the cause of the deaths to the fact that the birds had not migrated from the area. (Courtesy photo)
Officials: Cause Of The Deaths Poses No Danger To Humans

It is estimated that more than 200 dead starlings were found in downtown Yankton Monday. However, it is not believed the deaths pose a threat to humans.

Yankton Animal Control Officer Lisa Brasel estimated that she collected 200 starlings Monday, and employees of the city Parks and Recreation Department were also on the scene picking up deceased birds. The total number of corpses gathered up by city employees has not yet been compiled.

“I talked to one of the local vets, and they said there is nothing wrong (with the birds),” said Brasel, who took specimens to a veterinary office. “They just didn’t migrate and are dying. I was going to call the South Dakota Department of Health to see what they have to say about it, but they are closed today (because of Martin Luther King Day).”
