WASHINGTON – Air-powered batteries, 3-D cellphones that project holographs and personalized commutes are among the predictions of IBM scientists gazing into their crystal balls. The US computer giant this week released its annual "Next Five in Five" list of five innovations expected over the next five years. Among the predictions are advances in transistors and battery technology that "will allow your devices to last about 10 times longer than they do today," IBM said. Today's lithium-ion batteries could be replaced by batteries "that use the air we breathe to react with energy-dense metal, eliminating a key inhibitor to longer lasting batteries," IBM said. "If successful, the result will be a lightweight, powerful and rechargeable battery capable of powering everything from electric cars to consumer devices. "Better yet, in some cases, batteries may disappear altogether in smaller devices," IBM said, by reducing the amount of energy per transistor to less than 0.5 volts and relying on a technique known as "energy scavenging." "Some wrist watches use this today -- they require no winding and charge based on the movement of your arm," IBM said. "The same concept could be used to charge mobile phones for example -- just shake and dial." Also on the cards: 3-D and holographic cameras that fit into cellphones allowing video chat with "3-D holograms of your friends in real time." Personalized commutes are another development seen by IBM scientists, who are already at work on using new mathematical models and predictive analytics technologies to deliver the best routes for daily travel.

"Adaptive traffic systems will intuitively learn traveler patterns and behavior to provide more dynamic travel safety and route information to travelers than is available today," IBM said.

Human beings will also increasingly become "walking sensors," IBM said, providing valuable data
to "fight global warming, save endangered species or track invasive plants or animals that threaten ecosystems around the world."

"In five years, sensors in your phone, your car, your wallet and even your tweets will collect data that will give scientists a real-time picture of your environment," IBM said. "A whole class of 'citizen scientists' will emerge, using simple sensors that already exist to create massive data sets for research," it said.

Finally, IBM said, scientists will find ways to better recycle heat and energy from data centers to "do things like heat buildings in the winter and power air conditioning in the summer." "Up to 50 percent of the energy consumed by a modern data center goes toward air cooling," IBM said. "Most of the heat is then wasted because it is just dumped into the atmosphere. "New technologies, such as novel on-chip water-cooling systems developed by IBM, the thermal energy from a cluster of computer processors can be efficiently recycled to provide hot water for an office or houses," it said. IBM posted a YouTube video of the five predictions at www.youtube.com/watch?v=anKiEoxkpxM

In the next 5 years, you will be slaves to International Business Machines who brought you the Holocaust....

http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/26170.wss

ARMONK, NY - 25 Nov 2008: Unveiled today, the third annual "IBM Next Five in Five" is a list of innovations that have the potential to change the way people work, live and play over the next five years:

    * Energy saving solar technology will be built into asphalt, paint and windows
    * You will have a crystal ball for your health
    * You will talk to the Web . . . and the Web will talk back
    * You will have your own digital shopping assistants
    * Forgetting will become a distant memory

The Next Five in Five is based on market and societal trends expected to transform our lives, as well as emerging technologies from IBM’s Labs around the world that can make these innovations possible.

In the next five years, technology innovations will change our lives in the following ways:

Energy saving solar technology will be built into asphalt, paint and windows
Ever wonder how much energy could be created by having solar technology embedded in our sidewalks, driveways, siding, paint, rooftops, and windows? In the next five years, solar energy will be an affordable option for you and your neighbors. Until now, the materials and the process of producing solar cells to convert into solar energy have been too costly for widespread adoption. But now this is changing with the creation of “thin-film” solar cells, a new type of cost-efficient solar cell that can be 100 times thinner than silicon-wafer cells and produced at a lower cost. These new thin-film solar cells can be “printed” and arranged on a flexible backing, suitable for not only the tops, but also the sides of buildings, tinted windows, cell phones, notebook computers, cars, and even clothing.

You will have a crystal ball for your health
What if you could foresee your health destiny and use that knowledge to modify your lifestyle? Even though we are told that things like French fries, potato chips, cheese and wine aren’t good for us, what if you could find out specifically that you are someone who could consume more of those vices without having negative impact on your health? In the next five years, your doctor will be able to provide you with a genetic map that tells you what health risks you are likely to face in your lifetime and the specific things you can do to prevent them, based on your specific DNA – all for less than $200. Ever since scientists discovered how to map the entire human genome, it has opened new doors in helping to unlock the secrets our genes hold to predicting health traits and conditions we may be predisposed to. Doctors can use this information to recommend lifestyle changes and treatments. Pharmaceutical companies will also be able to engineer new, more effective medications that are targeted for each of us as individual patients. Genetic mapping will radically transform healthcare over the next five years and allow you to take better care of yourself.

You will talk to the Web . . . and the Web will talk back
“Going” to the web will change dramatically in the next five years. In the future, you will be able to surf the Internet, hands-free, by using your voice – therefore eliminating the need for visuals or keypads. New technology will change how people create, build and interact with information and e-commerce websites – using speech instead of text. We know this can happen because the technology is available, but we also know it can happen because it must. In places like India, where the spoken word is more prominent than the written word in education, government and culture, “talking” to the Web is leapfrogging all other interfaces, and the mobile phone is outpacing the PC. In the future, through the use of “VoiceSites,” people without access to a personal computer and Internet, or who are unable to read or write, will be able to take advantage of all the benefits and conveniences the Web has to offer. And by the web becoming more accessible by using voice, it will become easier to use for everyone. Imagine being within a phone call’s reach from the ability to post, scan and respond to e-mails and instant messages – without typing. You will be able to sort through the Web verbally to find what you are looking for and have the information read back to you – as if you are having a conversation with the Web.

You will have your own digital shopping assistants
Ever find yourself in a fitting room with all the wrong sizes and no salesperson in sight? And what about affirmation from friends that the outfit you’ve chosen truly does look good on you? In the next five years, shoppers will increasingly rely on themselves - and the opinions of each other - to make purchasing decisions rather than wait for help from in-store sales associates. A combination of new technology and the next wave of mobile devices will give the in-store shopping experience a significant boost. Fitting rooms soon will be outfitted with digital shopping assistants - touch screen and voice activated kiosks that will allow you to choose clothing items and accessories to complement, or replace, what you already selected. Once you make your selections, a sales associate is notified and will gather the items and bring them directly to you. You’ll also be able to snap photos of yourself in different combinations and email or SMS them to your friends and family for the thumbs up…or the thumbs down. Shoppers can access product ratings and reviews from fellow consumers and will even be able to download money-saving coupons and instantly apply them to their purchases.

Forgetting will become a distant memory
Information overload keeping you up at night? Forget about it. In the next five years, it will become much easier to remember what to buy at the grocery store, which errands need to be run, who you spoke with at a conference, where and when you agreed to meet a friend, or what product you saw advertised at the airport. That's because such details of everyday life will be recorded, stored, analyzed, and provided at the appropriate time and place by both portable and stationary smart appliances. To help make this possible, microphones and video cameras will record conversations and activities. The information collected will be automatically stored and analyzed on a personal computer. People can then be prompted to "remember" what discussions they had, for example, with their daughter or doctor by telephone. Based on such conversations, smart phones equipped with global-positioning technology might also remind them to pick up groceries or prescriptions if they pass a particular store at a particular time. It's not hard to imagine that TVs, remote controls, or even coffee table tops, can one day be the familiar mediums through which we tap into our digitally-stored information.

Judgement at Nuremburg, Screenplay Script:
http://www.script-o-rama.com/movie_scripts/j/judgment-at-nuremburg-script-transcript.html

Ernst Janning, a Nazi Judge who would engage in Hitler's show trials testifying at the Nuremburg Trials: Once more, it is being done for love of country. It is not easy to tell the truth. But if there is to be any salvation for Germany we who know our guilt must admit it whatever the pain and humiliation. I had reached my verdict on the Feldenstein case before I ever came into the courtroom. I would have found him guilty, whatever the evidence. It was not a trial at all. It was a sacrificial ritual in which Feldenstein, the Jew, was the helpless victim.

Counsel, attempting to prevent him from explaining how the Holocaust was so easy: Your Honor, I must interrupt. The defendant is not aware of what he is saying. He is not aware of the implications

Janning: I am aware. My counsel would have you believe we were not aware of the concentration camps. Not aware. Where were we? Where were we when Hitler began shrieking his hate in the Reichstag? Where were we when our neighbors were being dragged out in the middle of the night to Dachau? Where were we when every village in Germany has a railroad terminal where cattle cars were filled with children being carried off to their extermination? Where were we when they cried out in the night to us? Were we deaf? Dumb? Blind?

Counsel: Your Honor, I must protest.

Janning continues: My counsel says we were not aware of the extermination of the millions. He would give you the excuse we were only aware of the extermination of the hundreds. Does that make us any the less guilty? Maybe we didn't know the details. But if we didn't know, it was because we didn't want to know.

Another Nazi on the side awaiting his turn to testify screams out: Traitor!

Nurenberg Judge: Order! Put that man back in his seat and keep him there.

Janning continues: I am going to tell them the truth. I am going to tell them the truth, if the whole world conspires against it. I am going to tell them the truth about their Ministry of Justice. Werner Lammpe, an old man who cries into his Bible now. An old man who profited by the property expropriation of every man he sent to a concentration camp. Friedrich Hoffstetter the good German who knew how to take orders who sent men before him to be sterilized like so many digits. Emil Hahn the decayed, corrupt bigot obsessed by the evil within himself. And Ernst Janning worse than any of them because he knew what they were and he went along with them. Ernst Janning who made his life excrement because he walked with them.

Caounsel: Your Honor it is my duty to defend Ernst Janning. And yet, Ernst Janning has said he is guilty. There is no doubt he feels his guilt. He made a great error in going along with the Nazi movement hoping it would be good for his country. But if he is to be found guilty there are others who also went along who also must be found guilty. Ernst Janning said: "We succeeded beyond our wildest dreams." Why did we succeed, Your Honor? What about the rest of the world? Did it not know the intentions of the Third Reich? Did it not hear the words of Hitler's broadcasts all over the world? Did it not read his intentions in Mein Kampf published in every corner of the world? Where is the responsibility of the Soviet Union who signed in the pact with Hitler enabled him to make war? Are we now to find Russia guilty? Where is the responsibility of the Vatican who signed in the concordat with Hitler giving him his first tremendous prestige? Are we now to find the Vatican guilty? Where is the responsibility of the world leader Winston Churchill  who said in an open letter to the London Times: "Were England to suffer a national disaster, I should pray to God "to send a man of the strength of mind and will of an Adolf Hitler." Are we now to find Winston Churchill guilty? Where is the responsibility of those American industrialists who helped Hitler to rebuild his armaments, and profited by that rebuilding? Are we now to find the American industrialists guilty? No, Your Honor. Germany alone is not guilty. The whole world is as responsible for Hitler as Germany. It is an easy thing to condemn one man in the dock. It's easy to condemn the German people  to speak of the basic flaw in the German character that allowed Hitler to rise to power, but also comfortably ignore the basic flaw of character that made the Russians sign pacts with him, Winston Churchill praise him, and American industrialists to profit by him.

Ernst Janning said he is guilty. If he is...Ernst Janning's guilt is the world's guilt. No more, no less.

[...]

Simple murders and atrocities do not constitute the gravamen of the charges in this indictment. Rather, the charge is that of conscious participation in a nationwide, government-organized system of cruelty and injustice in violation of every moral and legal principle known to all civilized nations. The tribunal has carefully studied the record and found therein abundant evidence to support beyond a reasonable doubt
the charges against these defendants.

Herr Rolfe in his very skillful defense has asserted that there are others who must share the ultimate responsibility for what happened here in Germany. There is truth in this. The real complaining party at the bar in this courtroom is civilization. But the tribunal does say that the men in the dock are responsible for their actions Men who sat in black robes in judgment on other men. Men who took part in the enactment of laws and decrees the purpose of which was the extermination of human beings. Men who, in executive positions  actively participated in the enforcement of these laws illegal even under German law. The principle of criminal law in every civilized society has this in common: Any person who sways another to commit murder any person who furnishes the lethal weapon for the purpose of the crime any person who is an accessory to the crime is guilty. Herr Rolfe
further asserts that the defendant Janning was an extraordinary jurist and acted in what he thought was the best interest of his country. There is truth in this also. Janning, to be sure is a tragic figure. We believe he loathed the evil he did. But compassion for the present torture of his soul must not beget forgetfulness of the torture and the death of millions by the government of which he was a part.

Janning's record and his fate illuminate the most shattering truth that has emerged from this trial. If he and all of the other defendants had been degraded perverts if all of the leaders of the Third Reich had been sadistic monsters and maniacs then these events would have no more moral significance than an earthquake, or any other natural catastrophe. But this trial has shown that under a national crisis ordinary, even able and extraordinary men can delude themselves into the commission of crimes  so vast and heinous that they beggar the imagination. No one who has sat through the trial can ever forget them. Men sterilized because of political belief. A mockery made of friendship and faith. The murder of children. How easily it can happen. There are those in our own country, too  who today speak of the protection of country of survival. A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. The answer to that is: Survival as what? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult. Before the people of the world let it now be noted that here in our decision, this is what we stand for:

Justice,
truth
and
the value of a single human being.

HEY IBM...THE VALUE OF A SINGLE HUMAN BEING IS NOT A F*CKING TWO CENT DIGITALLY SELF-INCRIMINATING AND SELF-IMPRISONING WALKING SENSOR MADE IN A SLAVE LABOR CAMP UNDER THE GUISE OF "SAVING THE PLANET FROM GLOBAL WARMING!" THE FIFTH AND FORTH AMENDMENT OF THE US CONSTITUTION DID NOT VANISH IN YOUR F*CKING CLOUD COMPUTING ALGORITHMS YOU NAZI PIECES OF POND MOSS!
