Vatican Bank 'allowed clergy to act as front for Mafia'

The Vatican Bank is under new scrutiny in a case involving money-laundering allegations that led police to seize €23m (£19.25m) in September.


The Vatican calls the seizure of assets a "misunderstanding" and expresses optimism it will be quickly cleared up. But fresh court documents show that prosecutors say the Vatican Bank deliberately flouted anti-laundering laws "with the aim of hiding the ownership, destination and origin of the capital". The documents also reveal investigators' suspicions that clergy may have acted as fronts for corrupt businessmen and Mafia.

The documents pinpoint two transactions that have not been reported: one in 2009 involving the use of a false name, and another in 2010 in which the Vatican Bank withdrew €650,000 from an Italian bank account but ignored bank requests to disclose where the money was headed.

Thanks for posting this. It's shocking but not surprising.

Hypocrisy with the church is a 2000 year old hobby.

I love pp but it disturbs me how often people in the forums and even AJ himself give the church a pass too much. Why they can see through the lies of the govt, NWO, mainstream media but still (sometimes) believe blindly in Jesus (aka Mithras) because their parents drilled it into their heads when they were young and impressionable, is beyond me. Why can people see through one fairy tale, but not another?

The Church has done more harm than bilderbergs, bohemians, CFRs, combined.

Can't tell you how much even the Protestant, and yes even Baptist churches today have not only given the Vatican a pass, but have warmed up to them. Can't tell you how many times my pastors over my years have spoke about John Paul II with very high praise. JPII himself was a devil, an agent of Satan. No, I don't think my pastors are NWO agents or anything, but at the very least, they were brainwashed in their seminaries, which themselves are pretty corrupt nowdays.

Even "conservative" FOX News has speaked glowingly about the Roman Popacy as well, even going as far as calling out the other "liberal media" networks for "showing a liberal bias" with all of their supposedly anti-Roman Catholicism reports.

The corruption probe has given new hope to Holocaust survivors who tried unsuccessfully to sue in the United States, alleging that Nazi loot was stored in the Vatican Bank.

It is unclear to me, at this point, whether or not and how this corruption probe is considered related to Nazi loot.

As I understand, the suit by the survivors was rejected because the US court recognized its jurisdictional limits.  I don’t see how these new findings of Vatican Bank financial impropriety could change any of that and thus provide “hope” to the survivors.  But, then again, maybe I am tweaking on some of the details, which I am at times known to do.
