The creator of the movie 7/7 Ripple Effect John Anthony Hill faces extradition to the U.K. to face the possibility of Life in Prison after The Irish Supreme Court ruled to uphold his extradition. His crime was simply mailing DVDs of the "7/7 Ripple Effect” (with no letter) to the Kingston Crown Court, during the original trial of Waheed Ali, Sadeer Saleem and Mohammed Shakil. Question must be asked about the charge of perverting the course of justice,
According to British Law, perverting the course of justice falls under one of three acts:
- Fabricating or disposing of evidence
- Intimidating or threatening a witness or juror
- Intimidating or threatening a judge
We know that he never intimidated or threatened either judge, juror or witnesses so that leaves fabricating or disposing of evidence. As his film is made up of news clips and personal views, we can pretty much rule all of the above out. So why was he arrested, Freedom of speech? Having an alternative opinion? both of which are meant to be legal. This ruling can only result in increasing the popularity of the "7/7 Ripple Effect" film and once more bringing the 7/7 affair under the spot light. You have to wonder what they are afraid of when they go to these measures to take away someones freedom for having an alternative opinion.
