Wrong, unless you think every man, woman, and child in America should be forcibly felt up for their own good -- but good try at instigating senseless in-fighting.

Equally important  (Yes, it is possible -- for those of us that can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time.)

Hey, do you walk to schol or carry a lunch?

so let me get this straight...you think some goons at the airport grabbing ass is more important than fascists controlling the supply, pricing and regulation of all the food??

He who controls the food, controls the people - ALL of the people. I'll point you to Africa as an example of what happens when fascists control food supplies.

And don't get me wrong, the TSA issue is NOT a non-issue...it's just not THE issue.

One could argue that the powers that be are actually getting their way by people restricting their own travel through boycotts.....

And before you go around finger-pointing about "in-fighting" REMEMBER THIS - You came onto MY thread about S510 and started running YOUR mouth about the TSA.

So, why don't YOU go work on that bubblegum thing....

Good thought-provoking stuff!

But "control" (of anything) is the key.

rebirth1776,

They are dipping you like frogs in the boiling water (I no longer live in the good old U.S.A.)

The TSA was the first dip.  The Food Safety bill, if enacted another.

If you can't see that, you are blind.

I don't think I'm alone in feeling this way.  I don't think AJ thinks TSA is a fake, or distracting issue, and he does give plenty of time to the GMO foods/Monsanto legislation coming down the pike.  You are way wrong about me and AJ.

And, just because you start a thread around here doesn't make it your little sandbox -- even if you are a mod, IMO -- which thankfully you are not yet.

If you think it's a bubble gum issue, the "TSA thing" why don't you book yourself a short flight at the local TSA-run airport and walk through the X-ray scanner or allow yourself to be felt up by the TSA goons.  Show us all how it's no biggie -- not great loss of human dignity.

Do you think they would be ramming this food bill down people's throats if they had already stood up en masse against the body scanners and groping?

It was a test, my countryman.  So far, we are not doing well.  Yes, many are aginst the TSA procedures, but until we let the PTB know that the intolerable will not be tolerated, there will be more -- much more.

Yes, first they take your dignity and then they take your life.  Ask the real survivors of the Shoah, yes there were and are some.  Dignity is the first thing to go.

I wish I had three hands.  I can only hold my head in the two that I have right now.  I hope some other folk will stand up against this divisive rhetoric.  It really is not my intention to be part of that, but some things just have to be said.

Really. I used to teach literature at college, but maybe you are much more knowledgeable and experienced when it come to reading comprehension.

Why don't you enlighten me as to that last remark.

I don't get what it is referring to.  It seemed a little vague to me.   What did I get wrong?  If it is just me, show me (and everyone else).

If you go back and read our little conversation, being the enlightened scholar you are, you will see where you are not only ignoring my position on the matters, that I made very clear, but also replacing my position with the one you want to believe I am taking....I'm no psychologist, but that suggests some kind of mental disorder...

Tell you what. I'm done speaking. When I want to discuss the TSA issue, I'll go to a TSA thread.

Now, prove to everyone that you're not interested in in-fighting, by STFU about the TSA on this thread.

Because, to me, you're looking like a provocateur. I can't speak for anyone else.

UPDATE ON FOOD SAFETY LEGISLATION
Agribusiness shows its true colors!

Last week, the Senate voted 74-25 to move to consideration of S.510, the Food Safety Modernization Act.  After thirty hours of debate and behind-the-scenes negotiations, the Senators released a final Managers Amendment that includes a compromise version of the Tester-Hagan amendment.  Thank you to all our members who have called and written over the last several months to help protect local foods!

But even though an agreement was reached on the Tester-Hagan amendment last week, the issue is still not over.  The final vote on the bill has been delayed until Monday, November 29, due to disagreements over amendments relating to the health care bill and a ban on earmarks.  And, in the meantime, Agribusiness has shown its true colors.

For over a year, the big Agribusiness trade organizations have supported passage of S.510.  From Agribusinesss perspective, the bill was a win-win: they could absorb the costs of the regulations because of their size; theyd gain good PR for supposedly improving food safety practices; and the competition created by local food producers, which is rapidly growing, would be crushed by the regulatory burdens.

This was only speculation until now.  But when the Senators agreed to include the Tester-Hagan amendment in the bill, to exempt small-scale direct-marketing producers from some of the most burdensome provisions, twenty Agribusiness trade organizations fired off a letter stating that they would now oppose the bill.

The letter from the Agribusiness groups states: y incorporating the Tester amendment in the bill, consumers will be left vulnerable to the gaping holes and uneven application of the law created by these exemptions. In addition, it sets an unfortunate precedent for future action on food safety policy by Congress that science and risk-based standards can be ignored.

http://www.unitedfresh.org/assets/files/Letter%20on%20Passage%20of%20S%20%20510%20and%20Tester%20Amendment.pdf

What science and risk?  No one has produced any data or evidence of any widespread problems caused by local producers and marketed directly to consumers.  All of the major foodborne illness outbreaks have been caused by products that went through the long supply chains of Agribusiness.
Agribusinesss real concern about the Tester-Hagan amendment isnt food safety, but the precedent set by having Congress recognize that small, direct-marketing producers are different, and should be regulated differently than large Agribusinesses.

Agribusiness is trying to convince the Senators to pull the Tester-Hagan amendment back out.  While the amendment is currently part of the Managers Package  the amended version of the bill agreed to by six bipartisan sponsors  nothing is certain until the actual vote.

ACTION TO TAKE
This Thanksgiving week, please take a moment to call or email your Senators to tell them to hold firm on KEEPING the Tester-Hagan amendment part of the bill.

You can call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 or go to www.senate.gov to find their website (if the phone lines are busy, the best way to reach them is through the Contact Page on their website)

so let me get this straight...you think some goons at the airport grabbing ass is more important than fascists controlling the supply, pricing and regulation of all the food??
Again, they wouldn't even be thinking about touching our food supply if we hadn't let them fondle our testicles and our wives hoo-hahs, and our childrens' little willies and hoo-hoo's.

Quote

He who controls the food, controls the people - ALL of the people. I'll point you to Africa as an example of what happens when fascists control food supplies.
Quite agree that that is where they are going next.  No argument and it is very serious. No argument.

Quote

And don't get me wrong, the TSA issue is NOT a non-issue...it's just not THE issue.
Then you HAVE changes your tune because you called it "crap" and a "bubble-gum issue" -- like bubble-gum rock I suppose.
Quote
One could argue that the powers that be are actually getting their way by people restricting their own travel through boycotts.....
Umm...yeah.  That is some completely backwards-ass thinking.  Why not use our financial power to make a statement.  Don't fly if you don't have to.  Many won't this Thanksgiving.  Good idea, IMO.
Quote
And before you go around finger-pointing about "in-fighting" REMEMBER THIS - You came onto MY thread about S510 and started running YOUR mouth about the TSA.
A.  Just cause you started it don't necessarily make it YOURS around here.  B. I responded to your absurd post about the TSA issue being "crap" after it was moved to Donnay's thread.  C. I had already responded to Donnay's original thread (that's why I even saw your absurd statement in the first place.
Quote
So, why don't YOU go work on that bubblegum thing....
So, now you are back to caling the TSA issue "bubble-gum".  Splitsophrenic much?  Maybe, it's you that needs a shrink.

In the wake of S.510 Fake food safety….it won’t be a matter of what’s for dinner….but will we have dinner?

I can only imagine the salivating occurring behind the scenes in the District of Criminals, as the corporations and interested parties including the World Trade Organization, Codex Committees and other vested stakeholders anticipate the passage of S.510, the fake food safety bill.  Should this bill pass, we as a country will be officially divested not only of our sovereignty but of our independence.  No country in the history of the world has survived for long without a strong and independent agricultural sector.  Take that away, and the fall of the country soon follows.  No nation that cannot, or will not, feed its own people, ever survives.  Independent agriculture is and always has been the backbone and the underlying support for economic stability and security.  It is this support and security that S.510 seeks to destroy.

S.510 is not about food safety; it is however the last lynchpin in the seizure of food production and supply that was begun under Bush the Lesser.  Control the food; control the people.

This same model envisioned in S.510 was used in recent years in Poland.  An estimated 60% of Polish farms are now gone.  In India, more than 8 million farmers have left their farms as a result of similar systems implemented by the World Trade Organization on behalf of bio-pirates of all kinds.  Here in the US an estimated 1/3 of all farms that existed in 2000, have now vanished.  We are, according to farmaid.org , losing 3-500 farms and ranches every week as the industrialized corporate machine being driven by congress and its agencies rolls across our land.  Food safety never was the issue.  Food as a Weapon is another story.

Of How The Government Is Attempting To Take Total Control Of Our Food, Our Health, Our Money And Even Our Dignity

excerpts:

#1 Taking Total Control Of Our Food - S. 510 "The Food Safety Modernization Act"

S. 510, "The Food Safety Modernization Act", is another huge power grab by the FDA and the federal government over our food supply.  The bill is written so broadly and so vaguely that nobody really knows what it means.  The potential for abuse of these vague new powers would be staggering.  So will the government abuse these powers?  Those who are in favor of the bill say that of course the government will be reasonable, but those who are opposed to the bill point to all of the other abuses that are currently taking place as evidence that we simply cannot trust the feds with vague, undefined powers.

#2 Taking Total Control Of Air Travel - The Dehumanizing Full Body Scanners And "Enhanced Pat-Downs"

Totalitarian governments throughout history have always sought to dehumanize their subjects.  Sadly, that is exactly what is happening in America today.  If you want to get on an airplane in the United States, you will now be forced to either let TSA agents gawk at your naked body or let TSA agents grope your entire body including your genitals.

This bill must be reconciled and pass yet another vote...AND WE MUST STOP IT NO MATTER WHAT OR WHO WE ARE UP AGAINST!

It is not over.

Jay Rockefeller does not live in WV and did not visit even for last reelection. We can fight back!

http://www.naturalnews.com/030440_Food_Safety_Modernization_Act_Senate.html

Senate Bill 510 has already passed committee and is on the Senate calendar. It calls for enhanced expansion of FDA authority over small farms, ranches, and other food producers, establishes burdensome administrative requirements for large and small operations, and arbitrary legal authority to recall "unsafe medications," the definition of which is not clearly established; if in line with the global standard set by Codex Alimentarius, "unsafe medications" could extend to dietary supplements and herbal products. There is language that currently exempts from heavy regulation dietary supplement manufacturers and packagers. However, the FDA and its agents are notorious for interpreting regulations their own way.

It was falsely sold as progressive legisaltion in the spirit of Sinclair Lewis' The Jungle.  That book was an early insptiration for the progressive movement in America and was used to usher in the first round of significant business regualtion (since the "Gilded Age") which even then largely benefited big business.
