Military ready for war in cyberspace
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6A27T820101103
By Jim Wolf WASHINGTON | Wed Nov 3, 2010 6:20pm EDT

(Reuters) - The military's new Cyber Command, responsible for shielding 15,000 military computer networks from intruders, has become fully operational, the Defense Department said on Wednesday. More than 100 foreign intelligence organizations are trying to break into U.S. networks, Deputy Defense Secretary William Lynn wrote in the September/October issue of the journal Foreign Affairs. Some already have the capacity to disrupt U.S. information infrastructure, he said. Gates ordered the new unit's creation in June 2009 to address the growing threat of cyber-attack. It consolidates offensive and defensive operations under Army General Keith Alexander, who also heads the National Security Agency, the Defense Department's intelligence arm that protects national security information and intercepts foreign communications. "Cyberspace is essential to our way of life and U.S. Cyber Command synchronizes our efforts in the defense of (Defense Department) networks," Alexander said in the Pentagon announcement. Lynn declared the unit, based at Fort Meade, Maryland, fully up and running in a memorandum dated October 31, said Colonel Rivers Johnson, a Cyber Command spokesman. The new unit began work in May, establishing a joint operations center and transitioning personnel and functions from the old structures. It is part of the Offutt Air Force, Nebraska-based Strategic Command, the organization responsible for U.S. nuclear and space operations as well as information warfare and global military intelligence.

Oz, US aim for cyber shields, not weapons

Colin Ho, ZDNet.com.au on November 9th, 2010

In an interview yesterday, Australian Minister of Defence Stephen Smith said that Australia will be taking a defensive stance towards cybersecurity.

Following recent visits by the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Smith said that Australia will be developing cybersecurity measures with the US as part of a joint-defence agreement that gives America ["unfettered"]access to Australian military ports, bases and facilities.

"We're looking at very much the defensive, to use the jargon, a defensive posture here," said Smith in an interview with ABC 24 yesterday, after he was asked whether the government will be developing "weapons" to ward off cyber attacks.

For the time being, Australia's action will be to develop international standards.

"We're working closely with America, seeing what we can do to try and develop international norms on the use of cyberspace and attacks in cyberspace," he said.

Smith wanted to bring Australia's "expertise" to the table in working with the United States.

"We're trying to see whether we can, together with the United States, bring our own expertise to try and develop some international practices and international norms that will serve nations well, but also serve individuals and companies well."

However, cyberspace isn't the only concern for both nations, with Smith acknowledging that cooperative action was needed in space as well to deal with space junk and debris. [WTF?]

"We know we have a particular problem in terms of space — one is space debris or space junk — and that needs to, in a sense, be regulated, but secondly, as our whitepaper in 2009 showed, space is now a strategic issue," said Smith.

"It's not possible for Australia to do it by ourselves, so obviously there is advantage in us partnering with the United States on space awareness, space surveillance and space issues. So we're going to work very closely on that."

I predict next year a false flag cyber attack will occur in the US. pressure will be put on politicians to OVERHAUL the cyber security Net Neutraility agreements. Seems that cyber attacks next year will be an intuitive step in their global agenda of command and control, furthermore cyber security falls in line with cybernetics, panopticon agenda.

The root of the problem remains money. the useless eaters are funding the tyranny. Many don't care about paying taxes as long as sports and entertainment is in its decadent overblown proportions.

If we can't convince the people to stop paying taxes, the tryanny will continue until GE, GM, Monsanto, establish their new utopia of a de-populated planet for themselves. Their own Sand box.
