I am suspicious by nature but since Ive upgraded ({?  Angry } whole other story: FF switched itself from dont update and pumped my machine up to a version 3.6.12 ON ITS OWN!), I have occasionally had problems when saving webpages.

I like to archive important articles and with previous versions I never had any problems, as it seemed to me it was just saving the page from the temp cache... (?) Now it attempts to dl the page a second time. (very annoying) Which wouldnt bother me except for the times that pages were changed or my iffy connection failed.

Now it appears that it has to do with my firewall being on and when it attempts to dl the page for a second time (saving page) this comes up ....
Quote
NoZone, Inc 208.100.42.120
as the destination.

If I tunnel in through Tor I can dl no prob, (of course) but since this seems to occur on many different sites including this one and PP/infowars I have a feeling someone is tracking which sites I save pages from. Everyone hates a tattler but I used to feel semi OK about FF....

Anyone know anything about that? NoZone Inc. yielded nothing on Google/scroogle.

I don't have first hand knowledge of the NoZone inc. but I can tell you I quit using FF a few months ago and now run SRWare Iron, I am sure you know it is the open source of google chrome without the eavesdropping and snooping......

I think NoZone may be hosting something that you're downloading.

http://steadfast.net/corporate/

Could possibly be an ad on that page that's hosted by them.

Holy Crap I dont know about much but FF just RESET THE UPDATES TO ON AGAIN IN THE LAST 2 HRS! (and changed the history setting to default save for 90 days instead of what I had set)

Im now convinced its just as much tattle ware as M$FT!

I dont know what NoZone inc is but I know that Mozilla Inc. is firewalled off and if I use Tor it tunnels through and Mozilla Inc CHANGES MY UPDATE SETTINGS FROM OFF TO ON!

I'm using the same version of Firefox not having the problems you describe  Huh

My history is left as I set it, and pages save as normal.

I believe the dl problem is a result of my firewalls blocklist, (massive) but having my settings change themselves or being remotely changed is NOT COOL!

Try turning off the updates (tools; options; advanced; update) uncheck all 3 and see what happens.

Turned off updates. Closed Firefox. Opened Firefox again. Checked options. Still unticked and off.

Are you sure there isn't something else on your machine causing a problem?

Well you can always just view source, Ctrl A, Ctrl C, then open Wordpad or Notepad and paste (Ctrl-V) and then just save your text copy as a .htm. This is great for archives since it captures just the content not banners. scripts and other third party tracking resources. But you might find that missing stylesheets is a bit of a hassle.

This OTHER "resetting to default settings on upgrade" bug is also a pet peeve of mine with Mozillas and (many) other browsers that fail to warn you they'll be trashing your history database when they "upgrade" their browsers that don't quite always work yet, because M$FT/exploder have tossed a few new monkeywrenches into the DOM.

Check again tomorrow it took a while for it to happen in all 3 or 4 instances since I reinstalled FF. (Trying to solve this problem)

This never happened with FF 2.5.xx, as of now FF is trying to shake hands with Mozilla Inc.

And of course Im not sure whats causing it, I just want it to stop.
