There's a paradox of sorts here: This is a publicly funded, secret weaponizing facility. If they were on the up and up then we would be allowed to know what was going on in inside while at the same time they keep what's volitale about it contained within it. They are unfortunately not on the up and up, so they keep info about their weaponized toxic nasties to themselves and keep security light - I don't have a great explanation for the light security though. The current security measures amount more to the tactical effeciency of a rent-a-cop casing a potential shoplifter at Wally-World than post-9/11-the-world-is-a-different-place-cause-muslim-extreemists-stole-our-freedoms-with-planes national security officers. The "security" for Plum Island harasses and intimidates boaters using the open water surrounding the island. But the "lack of security" is internally in the facility. You have a bunch of scientists with overpopulation/eugenical/post-human views working with the most dangerous strains in the world using an "honor system". Of course mutated animals will wash ashore, and man-made diseases will end up in surrounding communities. |

just watched the season premier episode about plum island...and my major gripe, is the citing of mythical "al-qaeda" terrorists access to the bioweapons within...
as one of the major dangers of the facilities existence.
that sounds like propaganda i'd hear on faux news.
