how ironic, when were suppose to be switching to more "greener " energy sources, guess this doesnt apply to the government.

"As Julia Gillard and her Cabinet colleagues discuss climate change policy today, they might want to pay attention to yesterday’s announcement by the Western Australian Environment Minister of the approval of three new coal power stations, and the recommissioning of two 1960’s coal plants.

The proposed new plants (Aviva’s Coolimba project and Griffin Energy’s Bluewater 3&4 plants) are three of twelve new coal power stations planned around the country, with a combined greenhouse footprint of around 40 million tonnes of CO2 each year – around 7% of national emissions.

Without a pollution standard that prohibits new coal power stations, the climate policy of both major political parties will remain a debacle.

It is almost too stupid for words."
