A point well-taken, I intend to look into connections between Kahanists (then and now) and the U.S. intelligence apparatus (CIA) as well.

I definitley agree with what you say, I'm just trying to follow all the links meticulously up to the top.

HISTORY OF THE JEWISH DEFENSE LEAGUE

The history of the JDL and its founder, Brooklyn-born Meir Kahane-best-remembered today as the "militant rabbi" gunned down after being elected to the Israeli parliament-indicates that the JDL has functioned as an arm of Israel's intelligence service, the Mossad.   Kahane's biographer, Robert Friedman, revealed that "high-ranking members of Mossad" were directing Kahane and that the "central player" was former Mossad operations chief (and later prime minister) Yitzhak Shamir, an outspoken critic of America.

Kahane himself had been an asset of the FBI and the CIA, including a stint for the CIA in Africa, posing as a "news correspondent."   In 1965, under the name "Michael King," Kahane and one Joseph Churba formed a group to mobilize campus support for the Vietnam War, a venture that was part of a CIA operation "working both sides" of the Vietnam War issue, with the CIA funding anti-war groups at the very same time.   In 1968 Kahane shed his "Michael King" personage and evolved into the Meir Kahane we remember today.

His colleague Churba (also a rabbi) rose to power as an influential behind-the-scenes asset for Israeli intelligence in U.S. foreign policy-making circles, promoted by the John Birch Society, and funded by the CIA-backed empire of Korean cult leader Sun Myung Moon, now a major figure promoting the interests of Israel in American "conservative" circles.   The ultimate trial of JDL figure Krugel-if it ever happens-should be watched closely...

Now, just to put things back in perspective:

Settlement freeze? It was barely a slowdown
What took place in the past few months is, in the best case scenario, not more than a negligible decrease in the number of housing units that were built in settlements.
By Dror Etkes

The official statistics supplied by the Central Bureau of Statistics describe the story behind the 10-month construction moratorium in the West Bank. The story can be called many things but "freeze" is certainly not one of them. What took place in the past few months is, in the best case scenario, not more than a negligible decrease in the number of housing units that were built in settlements.

The data that appeared in the bureau's tables clearly show that. At the end of 2009, the number of housing units that were actively being built on all the settlements together amounted to 2,955. Three months later, at the end of March 2010, the number stood at 2,517. We are therefore talking about a drop of a little more than 400 housing units - some 16 percent of Israeli construction in the West Bank over that period.

The sounds of lamentation and wailing coming from the settler functionaries, for whom moaning is a profession, shouldn't surprise anyone. After all, they did not cease to whine even when Ehud Barak, "the leader of the peace camp," built 4,700 housing units for them in 2000, the only entire year he held the position of prime minister.

Kach’s U.S. Representatives Continue to Solicit Funds for Banned Terrorist Group
Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, November 2007, pages 30-32

Special Report

Kach’s U.S. Representatives Continue to Solicit Funds for Banned Terrorist Group
By The DC Investigative Journalism Collective

Michael Guzofsky, a.k.a. Yekutiel Ben Ya’acov, maintains the Web site for the bannedVoice of Judea, which the State Department has designated a foreign terrorist organization (Staff photo P. Pasquini).

ACCORDING TO Israeli Army Radio, the banned right-wing terrorist group Kach is petitioning Israel’s High Court of Justice to reinstate its status as a legal political party, thereby allowing its members to run for the Knesset. This follows on the heels of a 2006 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals denying Kach’s request to have its 2003 redesignation as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) overturned (see Jan./Feb. 2007 Washington Report, p. 19). Kach apparently is betting that, if Israel revokes its terrorist designation, the U.S. will soon follow suit.

Ironically, while Kach’s eventual legal status may in fact be determined in Israel, the bulk of its support continues to flow from the United States. Kach’s U.S. supporters, in fact, are the lifeline that keeps the movement an active threat to any future peace between Israelis and Palestinians in the occupied territories.

Kach and Kahane Chai were first listed as distinct terrorist organizations in 1995, when President Bill Clinton issued Executive Order 12947, entitled “Prohibiting Transactions with Terrorists Who Threaten to Disrupt the Middle East Peace Process.” (The list also named Hezbollah, the Egyptian Islamic Gamaat Islamiyya, led by Sheikh Abdul Rahman, and several Palestinian “rejectionist” groups, including the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine [PFLP] and Hamas.)

So, here is another chain of connections:

Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)-->

the late agent provocateur/NWO tool and CIA agent/operative/asset, Meir Kahane-->

present-day Kahanist international criminal terrorist organizations (Kach/Kahane Chai)-->

the illegal settlement of Revava and disruption of the Middle East peace process

(with Kahanist organizations still being used to funnel money and possibly provide other support for illegal activities in Israel)

And on the level of public diplomacy:

US pressing Israel to halt West Bank construction

By AMY TEIBEL, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 1 min ago

JERUSALEM – Washington's special envoy to the Mideast is in Israel Wednesday to try and get the stalled peace process back on track and press for a halt to new settlement construction on land the Palestinians want for a future state.

Israel's own foreign minister highlighted the stiff opposition Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces within his own governing coalition to making concessions to the Palestinians.

At the United Nations on Tuesday, Avigdor Lieberman spoke of a decades-long interim agreement with the Palestinians instead of the near-term statehood they demand.

In a rare move, Netanyahu distanced himself from his own foreign minister's comments. The prime minister, himself a hardliner in dealings with the Palestinians, has committed to try to frame a final peace deal within a year.

Revava=Kahane Chai

Revava Leader "Yaakov Ish Tam" Supports Attacking Israeli Arabs
By Alan D. Miller
Posted on August 9, 2005 at 4:02 AM
Eden Natan-Zada, the nineteen year old terrorist who murdered four Israelis before being lynched in the northern Israeli town of Shfaram on Thursday, had ties to the Revava movement. As I explained in a previous posting, Revava is an offshoot of Kahane Chai.

In January of 2005, Yaakov Ish Tam, the moderator of the English language Revava discussion board, gave his views on attacking Israeli Arabs. His position was that Revava, as a movement, could not support such things, but that personally he was in favor, and "kol hakavod" (literally, "all of the glory") to those who went ahead and did this on their own. One should note that the type of violence referred to in this discussion was rock throwing, spitting, etc., which, while criminal, is not the same thing as shooting with an assault rifle.

Later in this discussion, Yaakov Ish Tam argued that it is acceptable to violently fight other Jews. He seemed to be referring specifically to the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces who will be charged with executing the disengagement plan. (He may as well be referring to their leaders and/or their supporters. You can read this exchange for yourself.)

Yaakov Ish Tam gave his views in a dialogue on the Revava discussion board which he started last January. In his initial posting he laid out Revava's official strategy for stopping the disengagement.

How To Stop the Withdrawal

With the Israeli government determined to dismantle outposts and settlements, it is the duty of every God-fearing Jew to try to prevent this outrage – and there are many practical measures we can take to accomplish this.

When the government decides to dismantle a settlement, it is forced to allocate massive IDF and police manpower to the locale in question. Forces are mustered from all over the country to carry out the government order, and because of that, the government is left vulnerable.

While the army and police are attempting to evacuate a settlement, simultaneous, large-scale disruptions throughout the country can have a powerful effect as they would simply be unmanageable by the forces remaining. The IDF would have no other choice than to scale back the soldiers used to carry out the dismantlement. This is the only realistic and effective measure that concerned citizens can take, considering the often long travel times and army blockades which prevent Jews from physically being present in the settlements they wish to defend.

An up-and-coming movement called "Revava" has begun organizing a series of meetings throughout the country. The goal of the movement is to initiate nationwide disobedience on the day the government enacts its plan of destroying outposts.

"Revava" is allowing every member to decide for himself how active he can be when that moment comes. Whether it is being physically present at the outpost in question to help locals resist, blocking the intersection closest to their place of residence along with other local activists, or merely demonstrating by roadsides – everyone can take part. Pay attention to notices of upcoming meetings that will feature speakers who explain tactics relevant to a range of issues, from how to reach an outpost under army blockade, to methods that can be used to resist evacuations as they happen.

As its name implies, "Revava" has set for itself a goal of 10,000 members to be recruited over the next year.

Illegal, but ostensibly non-violent. Within two hours there was a reply from a member who felt that the strategy did not go far enough.

Why not take it one step further.Offensive is the best defence why should the leftests and Arabs set the agenda ,and we just react .Let settlements be set up in as many places as possible encouraging Jews inside and outside of Israel to settle in large numbers to show our love, strength and numbers. Also why should we be made to feel uncomfortable in our homeland of Israel ,Let the Arab get a taste of his own medicine .Boycott doing business with Arabs and those that employ them .If every Jew will just yell at every Arab on the street or wherever he encounters them ,with words such as Terrorist ,murders get out of our G-D given Israel ,imagine what can be.

This was followed a half-hour later by a post arguing that "revava is too soft" and that, following the example in that week's issue of Darka Shel Torah, activists should form cells to take part in seriously violent actions. Some contributors thought that this post went too far, in that it did not show the proper respect for the Revava leadership. Then, on January 13, another participant, a high school student living somewhere in the diaspora, suggested violence towards Israeli Arabs:

Y not also, attack arabs in pre-1967 Israel on that day? kids and teens should throw rocks and spitt, etc,. at arabs on that day. if there willing to get arrested and cause trouble y not do it against arabs. (they would be knocking 2 birds with 1 stone)

The next day, Yaakov Ish Tam responded:

I am in favor, but I don't participate in such activities,

You realize legally as a movement you can not advocate or encourage such things.

It is bad enough that we are openly encouraging people to break the law, once we call for attacking Arabs we will be closed down before we finish our sentence.

If people went ahead and did this on their own, kol hakavod to them but it can't be a part of Revava for obvious reasons...

[edit] Documentary films
David Ha'ivri has been featured in a number of documentary films dealing with issues that he is involved in. Canadian producer Igal Hecht of Chutzpa Productions film 35 Acres explores the issue of the Temple Mount the most contentious piece of real estate on the face of the Earth.[3] Holy for both Jews and Muslims the Sharam El Sharif/Temple Mount, is one of the most volatile areas in Jerusalem. Many say that those who control it, control the entire land. This film shows both Palestinians and Israelis whose entire lives revolve around that area. Ha'ivri has been involved in the Jewish side of this story for over 25 years.[4] Ha'ivri has also been interviewed by major media outlets BBC, CNN, Al-Jazeera and others.

[edit] Present
[edit] Shomron Liaison Office

New York Times July 5, 2010Ha'ivri is director of the Shomron Liaison Office[5]. An NGO that works closely with the local government[6] promoting public relations for the towns of the region. In this capacity he serves as English Language Spokesman interacting with all foreign language journalist. The Shomron Liaison Office under his direction has developed partnership and penpal programs connecting school children in the Shomron with their peers around the world. He frequently travels around the world[7] speaking to a wide range of groups and well as hosting tours in the Shomron.[8][9] [10] As a spokesman [11] for the Shomron Regional Council, Ha'ivri interacts with international media, foreign government representatives and philanthropists. He serves an strategic adviser to Regional Council head Gershon Mesika on international affairs.

[edit] Empowering local activists and spokespeople
In 2009 Ha'ivri conducted professional training for 30 spokespeople from a wide range of settlements in the Shomron region aimed at improving their abilities to express themselves in English and so to improve the general public relations of the settlers in the area. He contracted Ron Bowman Director of Dale Carnegie Training in Israel provide a 13 week course for the local activists.[12]

[edit] Student volunteer programs
He organizes student volunteer programs in the Jewish communities in the Shomron (settlements). In these programs American youth are introduced to aspects of planting and building. They are offered an opportunity to take part in the actual expansion of the Jewish growth there.[
13]

[edit] UN Settlement Prize
In August 2009 Ha'ivri advocated that the United Nations award the Jewish settlements in the West Bank an international prize for settlement activity.[14] The annual prize, the Habitat Scroll of Honor, is handed out annually to acknowledge "outstanding contributions in developing and improving settlements and the quality of urban life."[15]

[edit] Connecting with American Zionists
Ha'ivri has developed a number of programs aimed and establishing a connection for the settlements in the West Bank with Jewish communities and supporters around the world. One of those programs is the Purim package distribution to IDF soldiers in cooperation with the Zionist Organization of America. Thousands of gift packages are packaged by students in schools in the Shomron and then distributed it soldiers throughout the region and the whole country.[16] [17] Another interesting project devised by Ha'ivri is twinning schools in Shomron with school children in the Jewish communities outside of Israel.[18]

[edit] Political activism
As a youth Ha'ivri became involved with rabbi Meir Kahane's Kach and was already active in the 1984 election that saw Kahane elected to Knesset[19] and was a close with the rabbi's son Binyamin Ze'ev Kahane. The Kach party was banned from running in the 1988 Knesset elections and since has been added to terrorist watch lists by Israel, Canada[20] and the United States.[21]. In July 5, 2010 New York Times article American officials were quoted saying that Ha'ivri himself is not on the terror watch list. [11]

[edit] Jail term and legal battles
Ha'ivri has had several disputes with the Israeli government. He was notably arrested for celebrating the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in a television interview and served six month jail time in connection with the desecration of a mosque [22]. However, in an interview with the New York Times newspaper, Mr. Ha'Ivri said he no longer engaged in such activism, adding that, at 43, he had mellowed, even if his core convictions had not. "I’m a little older now, a little more mature," he said.[22]

In 2001 Israeli Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein ruled that the slogan publicized by far-right activists, "No Arabs, no terror," constitutes incitement to racism and offence especially to the 20% of Arabs who have Israeli citizenship. Rubinstein handed his ruling to the police to investigate as a result in Jan. 2005 the Jerusalem Magistrate's court sentenced Ha'ivri to four months of community service for distributing the t-shirts.[23]

[edit] Kfar Tapuach
In the late 1980s, he formed a group of Rabbi Kahane's students at the Yeshivat HaRaayon HaYehudi, which later moved to the town of Kfar Tapuach. After Binyamin Ze'ev Kahane's assassination in December 2000, Ha'ivri took on responsibility for his bi-weekly publication, Darka Shel Torah and HaMeir L'David, a publishing group which prints and distributes the works of Rabbi Meir Kahane and Binyamin Ze'ev Kahane
[24]. Ha'ivri has been active in leadership of the town and has served as the town mayor, head of security and youth director. Organizing educational and social activity while also offering aid to At Risk Teen and developing programs for them in the Shomron region (West Bank). He has published articles on these issues.[25]

[edit] 2005 Gaza pullout
File:TempleMountbookbyDavidHaIvri.jpg
reclaiming the Temple Mount by David Ha'ivriIn the time leading up to the 2005 Gaza Disengagement, Ha'ivri together with Yisrael Meir Cohen founded Revava (Hebrew: רבבה‎ means ten thousand) , an organization which initially aimed at preventing the Gaza expulsion by encouraging nationwide protests to tie up the Israeli security forces. Based on a play on words and on the concept that ten thousand activists could actually stop the Israeli pullout from Gaza and North of Shomron. As a toll to promote his ideas and tactics to oppose the disengagement plan Ha'ivri developed a monopoly type board game called Revava - Changing the rules of the game.[26]

Elections 2009 / Haaretz exclusive: Avigdor Lieberman said to be ex-member of banned radical Kach movement
Ex-Kach official reveals he issued Yisrael Beiteinu chair with membership card for extremist group.
By Lily Galili

Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman was once a member of the outlawed far-right party Kach, the movement's former secretary general revealed on Tuesday.

Yossi Dayan said he issued Lieberman, a prime ministerial candidate whose current electoral campaign against Israeli Arabs has provoked outrage, with a party membership card when he was still a new immigrant to Israel.

"I don't recall to what extent he was active in the movement, but if he denies [this], I am ready to testify in any forum that Lieberman was indeed a member for a short amount of time," said Dayan.

Kach was banned from running for the Knesset in 1988 for inciting to racism.

Ultra-nationalist activist Avigdor Eskin, meanwhile, remembers meeting Lieberman at Kahane's office on Ussishkin Street in Jerusalem. "I remember this very well, because I arrived there one day after I immigrated to Israel in 1979," he said.

Why have the terrorist group profiles for Kach and Kanane Chai been removed from the State Department website?

Israel's reasoning against peace: deal comes at high cost to Jewish privilege
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Jonathan Cook in Nazareth

30 September 2010

Jonathan Cook considers the forces ranged against a just peace for the Palestinians, arguing that these forces include not just the squatters that inhabit the ever-expanding colonies in the West bank, but also many Israeli Jews living within Israel's recognized borders and retired senior army officers who profit from the burgeoning “homeland security” and “defence” industries.

With the resumption of settlement construction in the West Bank on 27 September, Israel’s powerful settler movement hopes that it has scuttled peace talks with the Palestinians.

It would be misleading, however, to assume that the only major obstacle to the success of the negotiations is the right-wing political ideology the settler movement represents. Equally important are deeply entrenched economic interests shared across Israeli society.

These interests took root more than six decades ago with Israel’s establishment and have flourished at an ever-accelerating pace since Israel occupied the West Bank and Gaza Strip after the 1967 war.

Even many Israeli Jews living within the recognized borders of Israel privately acknowledge that they are the beneficiaries of the seizure of another people’s lands, homes, businesses and bank accounts in 1948. Most Israelis profit directly from the continuing dispossession of millions of Palestinian refugees.

Israeli officials assume that the international community will bear the burden of restitution for the refugees. The problem for Israel’s Jewish population is that the refugees now living in exile were not the only ones dispossessed.

The fifth of Israel’s citizens who are Palestinian but survived the expulsions of 1948 found themselves either transformed into internally displaced people or the victims of a later land-nationalization programme that stripped them of their ancestral property.

Even if Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, signed away the rights of the refugees, he would have no power to do the same for Israel’s Palestinian citizens, the so-called Israeli Arabs. Peace, as many Israelis understand, would open a Pandora’s box of historic land claims from Palestinian citizens at the expense of Israel’s Jewish citizens.

But the threat to the economic privileges of Israeli Jews would not end with a reckoning over the injustices caused by the state’s creation. The occupation of the Palestinian territories after 1967 spawned many other powerful economic interests opposed to peace.

The most visible constituency are the settlers, who have benefited hugely from government subsidies and tax breaks designed to encourage Israelis to relocate to the West Bank. Peace Now estimates that such benefits alone are worth more than 550 million US dollars a year.

Far from being a fringe element, the half a million settlers constitute nearly a tenth of Israel’s Jewish population and include such prominent figures as foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman.

Hundreds of businesses serving the settlers are booming in the 60 per cent of the West Bank, the so-called Area C, that falls under Israel’s full control. The real estate and construction industries, in particular, benefit from cut-price land – and increased profits – made available by theft from Palestinian owners.

And one thing to expect next, if the peace talks are derailed/sabotaged successfully:

'Israel to use all means in next Gaza war'
Sat Sep 25, 2010 7:35PM

A senior Israeli commander has threatened that the military would not hesitate to use any of its means of engagement in the next war against the Gaza Strip.

"We have less performance constraints there than in other areas, and we will not hesitate to use the many tools in our possession," the commander of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Gaza Division, Brigadier General Eyal Eisenberg, said about possible Israeli offensives on the coastal sliver.

The next war would be a "more painful, complex, and powerful round," he was quoted as saying by Israeli website Ynetnews on Friday.

Eisenberg was among the top military brass to command the Operation Cast Lead, the codename for Israeli army's onslaught on Gaza at the turn of 2009. According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), the Israeli act of aggression killed more than 1,400 Palestinians, including 313 children and 116 women.

SETTLEMENT ‘FREEZE’ IS OFFICIALLY OVER ~~ FOLLOWED BY ‘CONSTRUCTION FEVER’
October 1, 2010 at 19:12 (Associate Post, Hasbara, Illegal Settlements, Israel, Occupied West Bank)

Israeli earth-moving equipment works in the Jewish settlement of Kiryat Netafim, near the West Bank village of Salfit…

Construction fever
Israeli triumphalism at the ending of a temporary ban on settlement construction contrasts with the muted, and confused, Palestinian and Arab response, writes Khalid Amayreh from the occupied territories

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the Arab world and Palestinian Authority seemingly caught in a spiral of weakness and vacillation, and the Obama administration unwilling or unable to pressure Israel, the Israeli government has allowed anti-peace Jewish settlers to embark on all-out drive to build as many settler units as possible.

The audacious move came hours after a 10-month moratorium on settlement expansion expired Sunday night, 26 September.

Gleeful celebrations continued for hours as settler leaders and government officials delivered speeches with bulldozers, concrete mixers and other construction equipment in the background. During the celebrations, thousands of balloons were released into the air, signifying the number of units settlers intend to build.

With nearly all restrictions on settlement expansion now removed, the settlers, with the explicit backing of the government, are vowing to “compensate” for the 10-month hiatus by intensifying settlement construction to an unprecedented degree.

Settler leaders say they intended to build “tens of thousands of units” in addition to opening new roads and other forms of infrastructure which will require the seizure of large swathes of Palestinian land.

Palestinians victims of ethnic cleansing

MIDEAST TALKS FAIL 2010
By: kdtroxel

Israelis "have invented the fiction that the Palestinian people are not historically entitled to this land," Schoenman said.

"This is a fiction designed to provide the basis for eradicating the presence of the Palestinian people and the existence of the Zionist state that is dependent upon the racist premise that the land is exclusively for Jews," he added.

"Every single adventure is designed to provide a cover for the expulsion, the direct removal, by massacre or by ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian population," Schoenman went on to say.

"That is ethnic cleansing. It cannot be done except by coercion and requires the cover of war. The Zionist state is in a permanent war against the people of the region," Schoenman pointed out.

The settlement construction on the occupied Palestinian lands is in violation of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions 446, 452 and 465.

Mideast Peace Talks in Limbo, Netanyahu Blames Palestinians

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today insisted that the renewal of settlement construction in the occupied West Bank will have “no affect” on the peace process with the Palestinian Authority, despite the fact that it clearly brought them to the brink of collapse.

Webmaster's Commentary:
The "peace process" was already dead before these meetings ever took place.

And so what will be the outcome for Palestinians?

There will simply be a more brisk and brutal Israeli annexation of Jerusalem and the West Bank, coupled with forcible expulsions of Palestinians from their homes in these areas.

Israel has, once again, publicly spat in the faces of Obama, Mitchell, and Clinton, telling them it's raining regarding the settlement issue.

Of course, none of this behavior on the part of Israel will, for one moment, stop US financial and military aid, which is the only real lever the US has on this issue.

Mideast Peace Talks in Limbo, Netanyahu Blames Palestinians
Insists Settlement Construction Won't Affect Peace Process, Despite Having Clearly Done So
by Jason Ditz, October 01, 2010

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today insisted that the renewal of settlement construction in the occupied West Bank will have “no affect” on the peace process with the Palestinian Authority, despite the fact that it clearly brought them to the brink of collapse.

The talks seem to be in a state of suspended animation at the moment, as the Obama Administration struggles to convince Israel to make some sort of concession that might save the talks, and as Netanyahu vows not to make any such concessions, while simultaneously maintaining that he is uniquely committed to the peace process.

Palestinian officials have accepted the notion of returning to talks if Israel promises to continue the freeze in some shape or form. US officials have floated the idea of a freeze restricted only to certain settlements.

The illegal expansion of the Israeli settlements opposite to the international law

The Israeli acceleration in building and expanding of the Illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank territory reflects the Israeli apathy of the International legitimacy regulations and resolutions, represented by the United Nation Security Council Resolutions:

    * UNSCR No. 446 of 1979 states that ‘all of the Israeli practices and activities concerning the building and expanding of the Israeli settlements in all of the Arab territories occupied in June 1967 are Illegal and void.‘
    * UNSCR No. 452 of 1979 also ‘called upon the nation and the state of Israel to immediately halt the construction of the Israeli settlements in the occupied territory including the city of Jerusalem.‘
    * UNSCR No. 465 of 1980 ‘called upon Israel to stop building in the Israeli settlements in the occupied territories and to dismantle all of the Israeli settlements built in the aforementioned territories since the year 1967, and demanding all of the state parties of the UN not to help Israel in building these Illegal settlements‘.

Palestinian Leaders Urge End to Talks With Israel
By ETHAN BRONNER
Published: October 2, 2010

RAMALLAH, West Bank — The Palestinian leadership said Saturday that four-week-old direct talks with Israel should be suspended if Jewish settlement construction resumed in the West Bank. It called on the international community to pressure Israel to stop the building but withheld a final decision on the talks until an Arab League meeting on Friday.

A statement issued after a meeting of about 35 Palestinian leaders — the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the central committee of the main Fatah movement and a handful of others — held at the compound of the Palestinian Authority president, Mahmoud Abbas, said that Israel was responsible for the deadlock.

“The leadership confirms that the resumption of talks requires tangible steps, the first of them a freeze on settlements,” Yasser Abed Rabbo, a senior P.L.O. official said after the three-hour meeting. “The Palestinian leadership holds Israel responsible for obstructing the negotiations.”

Israeli Palestinian Talks Halted: Now What? Tags: ISRAEL PALESTINE
Webmaster's Commentary:
Last week President Pu$$y insisted that the Arab nations withdraw their motion to require Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and submit to IAEA inspections because to make an issue of Israel's nuclear weapons might "threaten the peace process."

The United Nations Human Rights Council report which concluded that Israel's attack on the aid flotilla, which included seizure of a US ship and murder of a US citizen, was a "brutal" violation of international law, in defense of a blockade of Gaza which is itself a violation of international law. President Pussy insisted that this report be downplayed because calling attention to Israel's war crimes might "threaten the peace process."

Well, the peace process is dead, President Pu$$y.

The Peace Process is dead because Israel murdered it, just as they murdered a 19 year old American with a camcorder with a gunshot to his face as he lay helpless on the deck of the seized aid ship.

Israel murdered the peace process because even as they talk peace Israeli bulldozers bought and paid for by American taxpayers continued to wage war on the ancestral homes of Palestinians.

So what are you going to do now, President Pu$$y, with the US elections just a month hence?

All Americans know you turned your back on the Americans captured and killed by Israel in international waters last May for the sake of a Peace process that was dead on arrival because it excluded the elected representatives of the people of Gaza. All Americans know you that even as you whine about Iraq and Iran's non-existent nuclear "threat" you gave the one nation in the Mideast that actually does have nuclear weapons a free pass, for the sake of a Peace process that was dead on arrival because Israel never has wanted peace, but only the appearance of moral rightness as it continues to steal other peoples' homes with US blessing and support.

With the end of the peace process you used as a shield you stand exposed from now to election day as Israel's puppet. Every day from now through November 4th that you refuse to confront Israel over her murder of an American citizen in international waters will be a day all America know that you have betrayed your oat of office. Every day from now through November 4th that you refuse to confront Israel over her undeclared nuclear arsenal will be a day all America know that the Democrats have sold their souls to Israel for thirty pieces of silver.

Shame on you, Barack. You are a disgrace as a President, as a Democrat, and as an American. You are the worst President in United States History.

Israeli Palestinian Talks Halted: Now What?

A few days ago, the Israeli moratorium on the construction of illegal settlements in the West Bank ended and the building was reinitiated at a frightening pace. Mahmoud Abbas said in various occasions that he would abandon peace talks if Israel wouldn’t extend the moratorium. Accordingly, Yasser Abed Rabbo, the general secretary of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, announced it would halt direct talks with Israel as long as settlement construction continues. In Jordan, Abbas said that he "held Israel responsible for halting the talks, citing its continuation of settlement building;" the statement was released by Jordan’s royal court. It is important to remember that Abbas is holding his position as President of the Palestinian Authority illegally. Elected to serve until January 9, 2009, Mr. Abbas unilaterally extended his term as president of the Palestinian Authority for another year and continues in office even after that deadline expired. For a long time Abbas was little more than an Israeli puppet completely dependent on the Israeli Administration will to recognize his legitimacy; yet it was forced by the last into a very tough situation. Now what? Can the PLO – and Abbas – keep holding the reign in the West Bank when it is being shunned by Hamas and Israel?

Netanyahu has played into the hands of the Hamas. The halting of the talks created a new reality. The day after the moratorium’s end, Khaled Meshal said in Damascus that only minor issues remain for a full reconciliation with the rival Fatah group. He added that that the two groups have taken serious and real steps toward reconciliation and will meet in early October in Cairo. This means a new political arrangement would be reached within the Palestinian Authority.

The current situation is simple. Hamas runs Gaza, the PLO runs the West Bank. However, the Hamas have the majority of the denizens’ votes. Any real reconciliation between the parties would mean a transfer of power from the PLO to the Hamas in the West Bank. Since we are talking about an agreement between the two, the transition would be gradual and dependent on the local conditions of each Governorate (the political subdivisions of the Palestinian Authority). Where would the transition begin?

Hebron is the largest city in the West Bank, with slightly less than 200 thousand denizens. The vast majority of these are Sunni Muslim Palestinians; however, a few hundred Jewish settlers occupy the Old Quarter, and the settlement of Kiryat Arba is nearby. Since this is the traditional burial site of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, and Jacob and Leah, it is the second-holiest place in Judaism, after Jerusalem; due to the same reason it is holy also to Muslims, who call it al-Halil. As such, this is the main religious center in the West Bank (after East Jerusalem) and thus a center of conflict between Jews and Muslims. The best reminder of that was the massacre committed by Kiryat Arba resident Baruch Goldstein on February 25, 1994, when he assassinated 29 Muslim worshippers and wounded 125 at the Tomb of the Patriarchs. Many other violent events took place there.

Netanyahu Humiliates Obama Again
By: kdtroxel

The Obama administration's attempts at seducing Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, are getting embarrassing. Netanyahu has made it very clear he is not interested.

According to Ha'aretz, the latest (and most cringe-worthy) moment in the saga came this week when Dennis Ross, the president's top adviser on Israel-Palestinian issues, convinced Obama that Israel would only agree to an extension of the settlements freeze if Obama would "come off as friendlier" to Bibi.

So Ross and his aides (working with the Israelis) drafted a letter to Netanyahu in which the US would give Israel everything it could possibly want in exchange for a two-month freeze.

The details of the letter were revealed by researcher David Makovsky on the website of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

According to the report, the letter included incentives crucial to Israel's security that Netanyahu has been demanding for years. For example, the US pledged to support Israel's position on stationing Israeli troops in the Jordan Valley after the establishment of a Palestinian state, in order to prevent weapons smuggling.

Re. the mosque burning in the West Bank and the continuing cover-up in the Israeli and World press:

‘ALLEGED ATTACK’ MY EYE! ISRAELI PRESS COVERING UP SETTLER VIOLENCE
October 4, 2010 at 15:45 (Cover Up, Extremism, Israel, Media Lies, Occupied West Bank, Palestine, Settler Violence, zionist harassment)

Why is the Israeli press attempting to cover up the criminal activities of the illegal settlers in the Occupied West Bank? Why especially is HaAretz joining in with this apparent BS?

Last night a mosque was torched in the Hebron area, including the burning and desecration of a number of Qurans and other sacred texts. This is referred to in HaAretz as an ‘alleged attack’….

Alleged attack, likely a protest against a possible Israeli compromise in the West Bank, comes amid a recent impasse in peace talks over the demand to extend the settlement freeze.

The real story with video link from al Jazeera:

Settlers blamed for mosque blaze

Palestinians say Israeli settlers in the West Bank burnt prayer rugs and Quran copies in early morning attack.

Last Modified: 04 Oct 2010 12:01 GMT

Israeli settlers are reported to have set fire to a mosque in a Palestinian town in the occupied West Bank, damaging prayer rugs and a large number of copies of the Quran, as well as spraying anti-Arab graffiti on the walls.

According to witnesses, five Jewish settlers broke into a mosque in Beit Fajjar in the early hours of Monday and set it alight before the morning prayers, Ahmad Thawabteh, the town's mayor, told Al Jazeera.

The Israeli military told Al Jazeera that primary investigations showed Hebrew graffiti and burnt carpets at the mosque, located south of Bethlehem.

Avital Leibovitch, a spokeswoman for Israel's military, said Israeli authorities will bring the guilty parties to justice.

"The Israeli police ... have opened a very widespread investigation; the other security forces in Israel will be a part of [it], as well as Palestinian information that has some contribution to this investigation," she told Al Jazeera.

"We see this incident in a very severe manner. We will do the utmost to find these lawbreakers and bring them to court."

And this $hit almost requires no commentary:

Netanyahu: Stop Picking on Settlers; They Deserve a Normal Life

by Gil Ronen
Follow Israel news on  and .

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu voiced support Monday for one of the most viciously maligned populations in the world – the Jews who live in Judea and Samaria. The settlers “deserve to live a normal life like anyone else,” Netanyahu said, “and this is our policy, too – to make sure they can live normal lives.”

"The most difficult decision we took was the decision to suspend new construction in Judea and Samaria for ten months", he said, adding, "The settlers in Judea and Samaria have been under unjustified attack for almost half a century.”

Netanyahu said that his government carried out the ten-month freeze on Jewish construction despite the difficulty this involved, but also noted that Israel now has “a vital interest” in continuing the negotiations with the Palestinian Authority. Israel is conducting “sensitive” diplomatic contacts with the U.S., he said, in order to find a solution that would make it possible to continue the talks.

"This is not the time to make proclamations,” Netanyahu said, in a hint probably directed at nationalist leaders, settlers and the news media. “We have no interest in causing tempests, and I cannot deny every false report that appears in the media."

OK, both these men (Obama and Netanyahu) are complete liars.  Netanyahu has no intention of creating a Palestinian state (two state solution -- ever.  And Obama is hardly an honest broker, secretly trading for a mere two month extension of the building freeze:

US veto of UN Security Council proposals on Israeli-Palestinian conflict
No further extensions of settlement building freeze
Permanent Israeli military presence in occupied Jordan Valley
Permanent Israeli control of Palestinian borders
US to give Israel enhanced weapons systems, security guarantees and increase its billions of dollars in annual aid
US to create anti-Iran regional security pact

Obama's cave-in to Israel: letter suggests US not honest broker

By Jonathan Cook in Nazareth

5 October 2010

Jonathan Cook considers the significance of a leaked letter from US President Barack Obama to Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu which undermines Obama’s claim to be an honest broker and confirms suspicions that Netanyahu’s professed desire to establish a Palestinian state is insincere.

The disclosure of the details of a letter reportedly sent by President Barack Obama last week to Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, will cause Palestinians to be even more sceptical about US and Israeli roles in the current peace talks.

According to the leak, Obama made a series of extraordinarily generous offers to Israel, many of them at the expense of the Palestinians, in return for a single minor concession from Netanyahu: a two-month extension of the partial freeze on settlement growth.

A previous 10-month freeze, which ended a week ago, has not so far been renewed by Netanyahu, threatening to bring the negotiations to an abrupt halt. The Palestinians are expected to decide whether to quit the talks over the coming days.

Obama's promise to Israel

US veto of UN Security Council proposals on Israeli-Palestinian conflict
No further extensions of settlement building freeze
Permanent Israeli military presence in occupied Jordan Valley
Permanent Israeli control of Palestinian borders
US to give Israel enhanced weapons systems, security guarantees and increase its billions of dollars in annual aid
US to create anti-Iran regional security pact

Netanyahu was reported last week to have declined the US offer.

The White House has denied that a letter was sent, but, according to the Israeli media, officials in Washington are privately incensed by Netanyahu’s rejection.

The disclosures were made by an informed source: David Makovsky, of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a close associate of Dennis Ross, Obama’s chief adviser on the Middle East, who is said to have initiated the offer.

The letter’s contents have also been partly confirmed by Jewish US senators who attended a briefing last week from Ross.

According to Makovsky, in return for the 60-day settlement moratorium, the US promised to veto any UN Security Council proposal on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict over the next year, and committed to not seek any further extensions of the freeze. The future of the settlements would be addressed only in a final agreement.

The White House would also allow Israel to keep a military presence in the West Bank’s Jordan Valley, even after the creation of a Palestinian state; continue controlling the borders of the Palestinian territories to prevent smuggling; provide Israel with enhanced weapons systems, security guarantees and increase its billions of dollars in annual aid; and create a regional security pact against Iran.

Obama is Humiliated by Israeli Blackmail
04. Oct, 2010
Al-Quds Opinion

It is shameful to see the United States grovelling before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his extreme right-wing coalition government. The US government is Israel’s biggest political and financial benefactor and yet it is now offering Netanyahu additional tempting sweeteners to get a resumption of the freeze on illegal settlement activity across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.

President Barack Obama, who impressed millions of Muslims around the world when he made the end of Israeli settlement in the occupied territories the main thrust of his country’s foreign policy, is now reduced to pleading with Netanyahu to extend the freeze for just two months. The inducements include a pledge to frustrate any Arab attempt to put recognition of a Palestinian state on the UN agenda as well as additional sophisticated weaponry. The details were discussed in the Hebrew media this week.

Occasionally, this guy does or says something reasonable (relative to Netanyahu, Avigdor Lieberman and the rest of the nutcases):

Ehud Barak says arsonists who attacked West Bank mosque are terrorists

Israeli settlers widely blamed and accused of campaign of revenge attacks on Palestinians
   (37)
Harriet Sherwood in Gaza City guardian.co.uk, Monday 4 October 2010 19.33 BST

The perpetrators of an arson attack on a West Bank mosque in which copies of the Qur'an and prayer mats were burned were tonight described as terrorists by Israel's defence minister, Ehud Barak.

Settlers were widely blamed for torching the mosque in the early hours of this morning as part of a "price tag" campaign of revenge attacks on Palestinians to mark their opposition to Israeli government policy on West Bank settlement expansion. Graffiti sprayed on the mosque in the village of Beit Fajar, between Bethlehem and Hebron, included the words "price tag" and "mosques we burn" as well as a Star of David, according to witnesses. It is the fourth attack on a West Bank mosque since December.

Ali Sawabta, the head of the village committee, said six settlers arrived in the village at 2.40am. "Fifteen Qur'an books have been burnt and the building is drenched in smoke," he told the Ynet website. "It is effectively out of commission." Villagers, who claimed the attackers came from the nearby settlement of Gush Etzion, rushed to defend the mosque and scuffles broke out which were broken up by Israeli
soldiers.

A new Israeli colonial outpost and more
By Mazin Qumsiyeh, PhD

A new Israeli colonial outpost appeared near the colonies of Nokdim, Tekoa and Kfar El-David in the past few weeks.  The new outpost consists of several caravans and semi-permanent structures in a valley to the east of the El-David colonial settlement.  It sits on land belonging to people from Jib Atheib, Zaatara, and Dawahra.  We toured the site October 1, 2010 with locals Hassan Breijiya and Mubarak Zawahra and two international observers from EAPPI.  This video summarizes the situation in the area.

And he'll have no one but himslef to blame really:

Obama faces humiliation over Middle East talks
Collapse of the peace talks would leave Obama exposed – and leave the two-state solution in tatters

Barack Obama has barely a week to save the Middle East peace process from collapse, only months after he relaunched it amid optimistic predictions that a solution would be reached within a year. The consequences of failure will be serious for the US president; for the region and the wider world, they are potentially disastrous.

Israel's refusal to extend a moratorium on settlement building in the West Bank is the ostensible reason for the halt in direct talks with the Palestinians. Speaking at the weekend after the PLO refused to continue the negotiations, executive committee member Hanan Ashrawi said a line had to be drawn.

"How can you have a two-state solution if you are eating up the land of the other state?" Ashrawi told the Washington Post. "The Israelis have to understand once and for all that they just can't continue with this approach … We can't afford it any more."

And from the bull$hit "Really, my hands are tied" department:

Netanyahu on Tightrope With Peace Talks in Jeopardy
By ETHAN BRONNER
Published: October 5, 2010

JERUSALEM — As the Palestinians consider withdrawing from peace talks with Israel unless a freeze on Jewish settlement building in the West Bank is extended, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel is engaged in his own calculations about whether accepting an American offer aimed at prolonging the freeze would destroy his political coalition.

Mr. Netanyahu is examining an American offer of a 60-day freeze extension in exchange for security and political guarantees. A deadline looms this weekend, since the Arab League is gathering in Libya on Friday to discuss the Palestinians’ request for guidance on what to do next.

Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority president, has said that he could not continue in the month-old talks if settlement building started up again. The Arab leaders seem likely to agree with him. But Mr. Netanyahu said that the freeze was a one-time gesture and that he was not inclined to extend it.

"inclined" -- Yeah that really sounds like the language of one whose hands are tied -- not!

Ummmm...leadership?

Buck stops here?  Maybe we need to send him one of those for his desk.

Prominent Middle Eastern leader considers common sense:

Netanyahu Examines Offer on Settlement Freeze

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel is facing competing pressures from the coalition partners in his government over the settlement issue.

JESUS AND THE SETTLERS
October 6, 2010 at 13:14 (DesertPeace Editorial, Ethnic Cleansing, Extremism, Hasbara, Hate crimes, Israel, Occupied West Bank, Palestine, Settler Violence, zionist harassment)

Last month a demented preacher man in a remote Florida town threatened to burn copies of the Quran outside of his church. This became headline news in every country of the world, without exception.

This week extremest Jewish settlers set fire to a mosque and burnt copies of the Quran. Did you read about it in the Western press? NO! Why?? Because it is the norm … not newsworthy.

Below you can see how these settlers act when they are not burning down mosques;  just one incident that occurred when the settlers confronted a group of International Solidarity Workers last year … rude language is not the only thing the Palestinians have to put up with on a daily basis… Universal hatred is the norm.

Yet, the Hagees continue to support these people…. as does the US government.

But, getting back to the torching, Jared Malsin reported the following regarding the press coverage of the incident….

Well, it's temporary and (IMO) short-sighted, but here it is:

Israelis, Palestinians signal deal on settlements

Associated Press Writer Josef Federman, Associated Press Writer – Thu Oct 7, 4:25 pm ET

JERUSALEM – In the clearest sign that a deal may be emerging to keep the troubled U.S. Mideast peace push alive, a top Palestinian official said Thursday that his side would accept an American proposal for Israel to curtail settlement construction for two months.

Israel indicated it, too, was edging toward a compromise. The country's ambassador to Washington confirmed for the first time that the U.S. is offering "incentives" for Israel to extend a just-expired settlement slowdown. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also came out in favor of a contentious new loyalty oath in what appeared to be an attempt to placate hard-liners opposed to further concessions on the settlements.

At least it's two months -- I'm just skeptical construction will really be entirely halted even for that time.

An Evaporating Palestine - Negotiating One's Demise

By RANNIE AMIRI, CounterPunch, October 8th, 2010

“For 17 years they [Palestinians] negotiated with the Israeli government during settlement construction ... ”

– Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 1 October 2010

The United States-brokered peace talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority (PA) head Mahmoud Abbas are in suspended animation.

Abbas is deciding whether to continue to partake in them despite the expiration of a 10-month moratorium on new Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank. Although his inclination appears not to do so, he also believes the opinion of Arab League foreign ministers meeting in Libya this Friday is first worth taking.

It is remarkable that those representing the Palestinian people would waiver in the slightest about quitting the talks in the face of ongoing land seizure. If this is not a red line, what is? It suggests a leadership which has not only failed to stand for the basic rights of its people, but a further reminder of Abbas’ illegitimacy as a spokesperson for those rights.

Two incontrovertible, overlooked facts:

The presence of even a single Israeli settler in the occupied West Bank or East Jerusalem is illegal. Articles of the Fourth Geneva Convention, reaffirmed by numerous United Nations resolutions and the principles of the U.N. Charter, prohibit an occupying power from transferring its population into forcibly acquired territory.

Second, Abbas’ presidential term ended on Jan. 9, 2009. In the absence of elections, the Palestine Liberation Organization—of which Abbas’ Fatah faction is the largest party—extended his tenure indefinitely (a move not recognized by Hamas, the decisive winner of the January 2006 Palestinian parliamentary elections). His authority as PA president is therefore in question.

Video shows settler leader run over Palestinian children
Published yesterday (updated) 09/10/2010 02:36
BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- An Israeli car ran down two Palestinian children on a road in the Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem on Friday.

A video of the incident from the Al Jazeera news network shows an Israeli-plated car swerve towards the children, one of whom is thrown over the windscreen. The car then drives off.

Jawad Seyam, director of the Wadi Helwa information centre, said the driver was a local settler leader in the flashpoint neighborhood, and that the children had just left noon prayers at a local mosque. He said the children were moderately injured.

The Israeli news site Ynet identified the driver as David Be'eri, who heads settler organization Elad, an organization which collects donations to "discreetly purchase property for Jews in Silwan," the site said.

Be'eri was questioned by police and released on bail, the report added.

An Israeli police spokesman was not immediately available to comment.

Associates of Be'eri were quoted in Ynet, saying he had tried to escape an ambush of stone-throwers. The sources told Ynet "He tried to escape, first by driving in reverse, but the vehicle behind him blocked his path."

Looks like it's time to look into Be'eri and Elad!
