Replace the Xs with dots to read the entire memo.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT -Worldwide Caution - September 7, 2001 (Washington
DC Time)

Over the last several months, the U.S. Government has learned that U.S. citizens and
interests abroad may be at increased risk of a terrorist action from extremist groups. In
addition, we have received unconfirmed information that terrorist actions may be taken
against U.S. military facilities and/or establishments frequented by U.S. military
personnel in Korea and Japan. We are also concerned about information we received in
May 2001 that American citizens may be the target of a terrorist threat from extremist
groups with links to Usama Bin Ladin's AI-Qaida organization
. In the past, such
individuals have not distinguished between official and civilian targets. As always, we
take this information seriously. U.S. Government facilities worldwide remain at a
heightened state of alert.

"U.S. Government facilities worldwide remain at a heightened state of alert".

Except those in the Eastern part of the US.  You know, where the largest city and the Capitol are.

I have visited at least one military facility here in Korea, and noticed no heightened security in the last few weeks.  (It was a personal visit to friends in case anybody is wondering.  No, apparently, the military does not yet want to arrest me.)

I will go by the front gate of another this weekend perhaps.  It seems highly unlikely to me that anyone would try to hit U.S. military in Japan or Korea, on or off base.

The additional initial warning to U.S citizens abroad is so vague as to be completely meaningless.  Good to know my government is looking out for my safety, though. Roll Eyes

I think you misread. This warning was from Sept 7, 2001. Just another sign of government foreknowledge of 9/11, and one that I haven't seen before.

Oh, wow.

Yep, my bad.

Thought it was a recent article.  Thanks.

Doesn't make much sense either way.  Nothing was going to happen in East Asia then either.

Not sure what all this horse$hit WAS about.
