Left to Right; U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Mark Fox, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, Lt. Gen. Mike Hostage, commander of U.S. Air Forces Central Command, Lt. Gen. William G. Webster, commanding general, Third Army, U.S. Army Central, Gen. James Mattis, commander, U.S. Central Command, and Adm. Eric Olson, commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command, all view the proceedings at the 50/20 Celebration parade in Kuwait, Feb. 26, 2011. The 50/20 Celebration honors Kuwait’s 50-years of independence as well as 20 years since Kuwait’s liberation and Operation Desert Storm. U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Nicholas Salcido Looks like something other than a "celebration". Just look at those facial expressions! Amazing photo.

Soldiers from 2nd Platoon, A Company 1-118th Infantry Regiment Combined Arms Battalion, scramble into vehicles however they can to escape indirect fire in a small village they were searching as part of Exercise Friendship Two. The exercise combines U.S. soldiers with members of the Royal Saudi Land Forces to conduct training in irregular warfare, Feb. 19-27.The timing of this exercise speaks volumes. http://www.dvidshub.net/news/66715/us-saudi-forces-extend-hands-friendship-two

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev (R) handles a weapon designed to shoot around corners, as Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev (L) looks on, during his visit to an Interior Ministry Special Forces base outside Moscow March 21, 2011. Medvedev appeared to rebuke Prime Minister Vladimir Putin for using inflammatory language on Monday in his sharpest public criticism of Putin ahead of a 2012 presidential election. Medvedev did not mention Putin by name, but said "crusades", a term Putin had used just hours earlier to refer to the West's call for military action in Libya, was unacceptable.

An Afghan child plays with the muzzle of a US soldier from 1st Regiment 320 Field Artillary 101st Airbourne during the opening ceremony for a newly completed mosque in the village of Tarok Kolache in southern Kandahar province on April 1, 2011 where the US military is funding its rebuilding. In October 2010 Tarok Kolache was completely destroyed by US forces after the Taliban had ousted the villagers and mined the village and surrounding areas. Oh the Irony!

April 11, 2011. Contactors from General Atomics load Hellfire missiles onto an MQ-1C Gray Eagle at Camp Taji, Iraq. Just another day at the office. GA has been in the business for a long time; they supply the drones and their buddies from Lockheed make the Hellfires. Their Griffin Eye ISR system will be everywhere soon.

The double standard has to be abolished for one. Some countries are allowed to produce weapons of mass destruction and some aren't. When these countries try to produce them, the WMD rain down upon them. What a f ucked up world we live in!!

Sailors salute as seaman Benjamin Rast's flagged-draped coffin is removed from the airplane at South Bend Regional Airport in South Bend, Ind. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. The military says Rast a 23-year-old Navy medic of Niles, Mich., died April 6 while on patrol in Afghanistan's Helmand province. Two U.S. troops killed in suspected Afghan drone attackThe Pentagon is investigating the deaths of two members of the U.S. military believed to have been killed by a Predator drone strike in Afghanistan. Marine Staff Sergeant Jeremy Smith, 26, and Navy Corpsman Benjamin Rast, 23, were killed last Wednesday in Sangin province, considered the most dangerous in the war-torn country. Various reports have said it was a Hellfire missile shot from a U.S. Air Force drone overhead called in by marines under fire in the area. citizenx posted this in another thread. i felt it needed to be reposted here. Bush Tenet Medal.... http://www.reuters.com/article/slideshow/idUSTRE71E60P20110215#a=1George H.W. Bush, the 41st president, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who was not present for the White House ceremony, were the senior political figures on the list of 15 recipients. ... Investor Warren Buffett was the one business leader in the group .... The Medal of Freedom is given to people deemed to have made particularly significant contributions to U.S. security, peace generally, or in cultural or other significant areas. ... Obama said Merkel broke barriers in "becoming the first East German and the first woman to become chancellor of Germany," and praised her as "a trusted global partner and a friend" who leads one of America's closest allies. ...

.jpg) 26-year old Claudia Mitchell has become the first woman to get outfitted with a bionic arm, with which she’s able to perform functions simply by thinking about them. The arm was designed by researchers at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and works by detecting the movement’s of Mitchell’s chest muscle, which has been rewired to the nerves that once served her left arm. Eventually, researchers say, the arm could even give Mitchell the sense of touch, with electrodes in the hand sending signals to her chest skin, which her brain would recognize as a sensation. http://www.nextnature.net/2006/12/bionic-woman-2/

26-year old Claudia Mitchell... Now that's creepy. This is too: As Sgt. Albert Smith pulls security, two young Afghan boys navigate their way around him in a village near Qalat, Afghanistan, April 26. Members of Provincial Reconstruction Team Zabul visited the village to discuss agricultural issues with the residents.

WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 1: In this handout image provided by The White House, President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and members of the national security team receive an update on the mission against Osama bin Laden in the Situation Room of the White House May 1, 2011 in Washington, DC. Obama later announced that the United States had killed Bin Laden in an operation led by U.S. Special Forces at a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Now this is a photo dying for a good caption.
