no IDing law?

i was wondering what law says that they cant ID you unless somthing unlawful has taken place. im going to court for not IDing myself and i need to know what law to argue lol. is it one of the amendments?

Depends on where you live, or were citied for breaking the law. In the US,it's usually a casr of a local law requires a person to identify themselves when asked. A growing trend is to require people to present some form of official id. Some local laws may be that it's illegal to not say who you are.

Sure, in utopia. In the real world, if you tell them your somebody your not, things won't go too well for you once they find out. They have charges of giving a false name, identity, etc.

You only get a public defender if you have no means to hire a lawyer on your own. Contact the public defenders office as they can tell you properly better than I can as I'm not a lawyer and what I say should not be taken as legal advice.

ya i have no way of hiring one on my own lol. im going to go there, plead not guilty (obstruction of justice) and ask for a lawyer.

I only recommend a public defender because you'll get better legal advice from them than compared to what you'd get on a forum.  If there's any possibility of you being found guilty though, I'd get a real lawyer.

I'm not sure what the punishment is for your crime but let me tell you... community service sucks.

This is a good thread because it goes to the fundamental question of do you have to "show them your papers". If we do, then why do we still make fun of the KGB and Stasi? Because that's the famous stereotype. "Show me your papers!".
