Recently, it was announced that the US military’s Raytheon-developed Active Denial System (the 95 GHz pain ray) wasn’t deemed suitable for use in crowd control situations in the middle east. Apparently, using torture devices against large crowds of people doesn’t win their hearts and minds over. Who knew?
In what has been a thoroughly predictable development – so predictable, it’s believable that the whole situation has been engineered – Raytheon, in its quest for profits, has sought other customers for its technology. One very favorable prospect is the US prison system...
