Virgoan intro(service), Libra teaching(sacrifice), within Libra section of Book of Mark.>>

Mark 15-22
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
And he was sad at that saying, and went away *grieved: for he had great possessions.

But if you have a specific question i'd be delighted to try and help. Smiley

The constellation Crux 'the Cross' (usually referred to as 'the Southern Cross') is the smallest constellation in the sky but it has held an important place in the history of the southern hemisphere. The brilliant cross that is formed by the brightest stars makes it one of the most familiar sights to southern hemisphere observers and the constellation has been used as insignia on the flags and stamps of many southern hemisphere nations, including Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Papua New Guinea and regions of Chile and Argentina.

Ptolemy recognized the stars as part of the constellation Centaurus where they marked the bottom of the hind legs and were thus (as were all the stars of the 'equine part') denoted as akin to Venus and Jupiter in influence.

In ancient times, and around the districts of Egypt and Babylonia, the stars were visible low on the horizon, but the effect of precession has lowered them further to the south so that, over time, they became invisible to northern hemisphere astrologers.

Currently they are no longer visible in latitudes higher than the tropic of Cancer. The stars were 'rediscovered' by European navigators who explored the southern territories in the early 16th century, at a time when the group lay almost perpendicular to the horizon. The impressive sight of the 'Holy Cross' was more than a morale boost to their efforts, since studying the constellation's inclination from the perpendicular allowed navigators to calculate time and location. Vivian Robson suggests that the constellation was instrumental in the naming of Brazil as the 'Land of the Holy Cross' by its discoverer Cabral on May 1st 1500.

As the principal star, Acrux (the name is an abbreviation of alpha Crucis) acts as a focus for the symbolism of the constellation. This is a brilliant blue-white star, the twelfth brightest in the sky. Robson claims that it gives "religious beneficence, ceremonial justice, magic and mystery", and that it is frequently prominent in the horoscopes of astrologers and occultists.  No doubt the European explorers saw the sign of the cross in the sky as a potent symbol of blessing for their endeavours to bring Christianity to new lands; but their exploits were never easy and others have pointed to the constellation as expressing a danger of wounds or accidents, or of 'the cross' being symbolic of heavy responsibilities and suffering, such as that which Christ endured in the crucifixion.

Contrary to popular belief, Crux is not opposite to Ursa Major. In fact, in tropical regions both Crux (low in the south) and Ursa Major (low in the north) can be seen in the sky from April to June. Crux is exactly opposite to Cassiopeia  on the celestial sphere, and therefore it cannot be in the sky with the latter at the same time. For locations south of 34°S, Crux is circumpolar and thus always visible in the night sky.

Ancient identification with the bestial part of Centaurus, gives the bright stars of Crux similar associations to those of Bungula, on the hoof of the Centaur's right foreleg. Linked to the mythological figure of Cheiron by Eratosthenes as early as the 2nd century BC, Bungula has been used to signify sacrifice, healing and the need to be healed, and the quest to override base instincts for the sake of collective benefit. But with Bungula there is also the theme of needing to steady the instincts, to maintain emotional control and to conquer motivations of personal gain or private satisfaction. When afflicted, it can equally point to damage caused through unbridled emotions, inappropriate greed or lust, animalistic passions and violent retribution.

In the new identification of 'the Cross', the theme of sacrifice and stoic resilience has been further emphasised with heightened ecclesiastical connections. Although the brightest star, Acrux, was defined by Ptolemy as like Venus and Jupiter, more recent texts denote its influence as purely Jupiterean, reinforcing its identification with 'the Holy'. But shadows of the Centaur's tale remain in modern descriptions that portray a need to sacrifice the animal/ego-driven instincts in pursuit of fortitude in the face of adversity, spiritual advancement and wounds that can never be healed. Robson said of the constellation that it gives:

... perseverance, but many burdens, trials and responsibilities, together with much suffering and many hardships.

Centaurus has traditionally been identified as a centaur, a mythological creature, half man, half horse. According to the Roman poet Ovid (Fasti v.379), the constellation honors the centaur Chiron, who was tutor to many of the earlier Greek heroes including Heracles (Hercules), Theseus, and Jason, the leader of the Argonauts. However, most authorities consider Sagittarius to be the civilized Chiron, while Centaurus represents a more uncouth member of the species.

The name Centaurus in mythology is given not to a centaur but a human who would later mate with mares and spawn the centaur race.

Seven years, only seven years! At the beginning of their happiness at some moments they were both ready to look on those seven years as though they were seven days. He did not know that the new life would not be given him for nothing, that he would have to pay dearly for it, that it would cost him great striving, great suffering. But that is the beginning of a new story – the story of the gradual renewal of a man, the story of his gradual regeneration, of his passing from one world into another, of his initiation into a new unknown life. That might be the subject of a new story, but our present story is ended.
Ending of 'Crime and Punishment'

Before mark 10:35
"And they come into Bethany. And a certain woman whose brother had died was there. And, coming, she prostrated herself before Jesus and says to him, 'Son of David, have mercy on me.' But the disciples rebuked her. And Jesus, being angered, went off with her into the garden where the tomb was, and straightway a great cry was heard from the tomb. And going near Jesus rolled away the stone from the door of the tomb. And straightway, going in where the youth was, he stretched forth his hand and raised him, seizing his hand. But the youth, looking upon him, loved him and began to beseech him that he might be with him. And going out of the tomb they came into the house of the youth, for he was rich. And after six days Jesus told him what to do and in the evening the youth comes to him, wearing a linen cloth over his naked body. And he remained with him that night, for Jesus taught him the mystery of the kingdom of God. And thence, arising, he returned to the other side of the Jordan."

Within Mark 10:46
"And the sister of the youth whom Jesus loved and his mother and Salome were there, and Jesus did not receive them."

Scorpio is a fixed water sign, the sign water is most active in, these waters represent our subconscious and our instincts, the sign is ruled by Mars which has great trouble breaking out these waters but when it does look out cause there be poison in that there tail.

After the sun, Mars, fifth in order, assumes command of manhood for the space of fifteen years, equal to his own period. He introduces severity and misery into life, and implants cares and troubles in the soul and in the body, giving it, as it were, some sense and notion of passing its prime and urging it, before it approaches its end, by labour to accomplish something among its undertakings that is worthy of note.

Question : what on God's great earth has Astrology got to do with the Scriptures?

Preliminary answer:

At this point, talking about the zodiac we basically use the Synoptics because many folks believe they were written with the stars in mind. OK we suspect the stars in the Old Testamant too, along with ancient history, allegories and eternal truths, the book of John(i have always adored this book- i'm fifteen years a Christian) we don't know much about yet, nor much about his Revelation(Yet to read Watt's take on it due to being thrown off the horse at beginning of his cutting through part three), Umm ... we could go on with the Gnostic books but for now we can stick with the Synoptics, Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
Mark seems the most interesting though the other two may go into greater detail, or Matthew might ...see the historical Jesus, the awaited Hebrew Messiah, Umm ...

Let's get back to Typhon i.e. The Eagle, i.e. the Scorpion ...
[In my own studies i'm now by Scorpio, so i can say that in this house we set ourselves up for 'Peace City', our next destination], for now let's talk about death ...

Leo - Identity, Virgo - Service, Libra - Sacrifice,
Scorpio - Suffering

In modern astrology Pluto rules Scorpio, not so in Ancient Astrology, where it is ruled by Mars, this is our topic - Ancient(Classical) Tropical Astrology:

Next, to Mars, which is dry in nature and occupies a sphere under that of Jupiter, there were assigned again the two signs, contiguous to the former, Scorpio and Aries, having a similar nature, and, agreeably to Mars' destructive and inharmonious quality, in *quartile aspect to the luminaries.
*Aries is quartile to the moon's house, Cancer, and Scorpio to the sun's house, Leo. They are, however, also triangular to these houses, Aries to Leo and Scorpio to Cancer.

In Taurus weare taught in parables, in Scorpio, we are taught the mysteries:

Mark 4 10-12
And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

The lesson of Scorpio is that before we can ascend we have to descend, from sons of defilement to sons of honour:

Jericho is the lowest permanently inhabited site on earth
and is also believed to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities of the world.

Mark 10 46-52
And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.
And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Bartimaeus=Son of Timaeus, in Greek Son of Honour, in Aramaic Son of defilement, Bart took the historical view at first but later realized the 'way' is open for many, who can suffer the cross and go on regardless, to suffer for ourselves and for others brings redemption.

You'll receive much more truth through studying the word of God and prayer than by seeking answers from the stars, imho.

Are the stars not also the "writings" of Them, our true Parentage, as well?  Indeed how do you think that the skies know the seasons? I'd guess that all experience is also Their "word".

The snake epitomizes the Scorpionic dimension of human life, it's ability to emerge from it's own skin symbolizing our own mysterious origins from the womb, our inevitable descent into death, and our potential for rebirth into new life.
[...]
Power, in fact, is a central theme of Scorpio: power to destroy, power to recreate.

Bill Darlison

"By virtue of his tail armed with its powerful sting, wherewith, when conducting the Sun's chariot through his sign, he cleaves the soil and sows seed in the furrow, the Scorpion creates natures ardent for war and active service, and a spirit which rejoices in plenteous bloodshed and in carnage more than in plunder. Why, these men spend even peace under arms; they fill the glades and scour the woods; they wage fierce warfare now against man, now against beast, and now they sell their persons to provide the spectacle of death and to perish in the arena, when, warfare in abeyance, they each find themselves foes to attack. There are those, too, who enjoy mock-fights and jousts in arms (such is their love of fighting) and devote their leisure to the study of war and every pursuit which arises from the art of war."
Manilius, Astronomica, 1st century AD

Mark 10 35-45
And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Medicine and Surgery come under Scorpio, the physician, whose symbol is the Scorpionic serpent coiled round the caduceus, is the one with power over life and death, who can restore the weak to health.

Serpens & Ophiuchus (the snake holder) decans to Scorpio)

"When Ophiuchus, encircled by the serpent's great coils, rises he renders the forms of snakes innocuous to those born under him. They will receive snakes into the folds of their flowing robes, and will exchange kisses with these poisonous monsters and suffer no harm."
[Manilius, Astronomica, 1st century AD, book 5,  p.333].

Mark 16 17-18
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Ophiuchus = Aesculapius, here's Ovid's hymn in honour of this dude>>

Hail, great physician of the world, all-hail; hail mighty infant, who in years to come
shalt heal the nations, and defraud the tomb. Swift be thy growth! Thy triumphs
unconfin'd! Make kingdoms thicker, and increase mankind. Thy daring art shall
animate the dead, and draw the thunder on thy guilty head. Then shalt thou die,
but from the dark abode, rise up victorious, and be twice a God.

Ovid, Metamorphoses Bk II

Psalm 103 1-5
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

What a great analogy in part one: you're in a cage with a wild beast and you can't kill it, nor escape, so you feed the beast and do whatever it takes to keep it content; you keep it from eating you. But over time, you give away so much of your own core being that you ultimately become what you originally faught against. And that's just part one!

Never compromise WHO you are and what you know is right!

And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

Before we get onto the heavy stuff in this section, (i feel the Scorpio section is lacking, it seems to be the mystery house) we can take it slow in the beginning, cause once the beast gets his ground there is but one thing that can stop him : Spirit.

Psalm 45 3-6
Gird thy sword upon thy thigh[ruled by Sagittarius], O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.
And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.
Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.
Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.

In its graceful arc
Send a little prayer out to ya

Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces

The twelve tribes : Gad, Ephraim (Joseph), Asher, Issachar, Judah, Naphtali, Benjamin, Dan, Manasseh, Zebulon, Reuben, Simeon

In Genesis 49 Jacob blesses his sons, the later twelve tribes, though he doesn't mention here Ephraim or Manasseh he does mention Joseph, their father, i believe Ephraim is Taurus and Manasseh is Sagittarius. An early Chinese name for Sagittarius is 'Seih Muh', The Cleft Tree, or Branches Cut For Firewood.

Genesis 49 22-24
Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

In the Sagittarian section of Mark (11v1- 11v26) we find the cursing of the fig tree, the 'rampage' Tongue through the Temple, and of course the journey into Jerusalem on the colt.
The word Mark uses for colt 'polos' when used without mentioning another animal means 'horse'<i do have sources for this but for now lets roll!>, unlike Matthew who sticks with the prophecy>>

Zechariah 9vs9
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Matthew uses the word 'onos', but many examples could be shown where Matthew paints Jesus as the historical Hebrew Messiah, Mark uses 'polos', if we can move on with this we can get to the real meaning ok? Grin

Whether Jesus asked for a young donkey or a young horse is purely symbolical, what he really asked for was a bucking bronco >>

Mark 11vs2
And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

Sagittarius is one of the four 'dual' signs>>

Mark 11vs4
And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

An early Chinese name for Sagittarius is 'Seih Muh', The Cleft Tree, or Branches Cut For Firewood.
Mark 11vs8
And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.

Hosanna means in Hebrew 'Save, we pray', but the salvation the people seek is not the salvation Jesus brings, Jesus brings the salvation of the wise teacher Chiron, who died that Prometheus might live, not the bogus salvation wrought by insurrection and war.

Mark 11 9-10
And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:
Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

Jesus on a colt, no it's not to show his humility it's to show his mastery over the flesh, over the bestial forces that need harnessing, when raw power is brought under the control of intelligence, part God, part animal; part creative intelligence, part destructive passion.
Centaur = Dominant bestial power mixed with human ingenuity.

Chiron teaches Achilles, (Chiron was a good guy).

The decan 'Ara'(Altar) says Seiss :

The Greeks used the word 'ara' sometimes in the sense of prayer, but more frequently in the sense of an imprecation, a curse, or the effect of a curse - bane, ruin, destruction. Personified it was the name of the godess of revenge and destruction. In Aeschlus it is the name of the actual curse of Cedipus personified.

Jesus when travelling from Bethany encounters a leafy fig tree, but finds no figs then destroys it with the power of faith, the lesson for this section, faith over the spiritual AND the physical (i.e. spiritual aspirations and changing the world we live in), with the destroying of the fig tree Jesus shows us the power of faith over the four elements.

The stars marking the head and vain of the archers arrow have been compared to an Overturned Chair, namely by Al Jauhari.

So, Jesus enters the 'Holy' Temple, sees what the people have done(like the promising leafy fig tree that bore no fruit) and goes berzerk>>

The Temple no longer serves any valid religious function. Like the fig tree whose leaves deceive by promising fruit when no fruit exists, the Temple's beauty and ostensible commitment to spiritual values are mere hypocritical sham. It is not 'a house of prayer for all nations', but a commercial enterprise based on the notion that God is to be approached through the killing of animals.

Capricorn is the sign of the winter solstice, the point of the sun's maximum southerly declination, when nights are at their longest in the northern hemisphere. The sun, symbolic of individual consciousness, is now at it's weakest and the forces of darkness, symbolizing the collective, predominate.
Bill Darlison

The glyph resembles the horns of a goat with a curling fish tail, just as the individual lives partially as an individual and partly as a member of a group.[...]

Capricorn is a sign of power and authority, but it is not the innate authority of the individual that we find in Leo, but the conferred authority of the figurehead, the authority that springs from the office and not from the soul. The mountain goat, slowly but sure-footedly climbing up the steep slope[see vid above] is an appropiate symbol for the sign's association with the relentless pursuit of office by painstaking ascent through the ranks.

Landscape with Vesta temple in Tivoli, Italy, c. 1600

The goddess of the hearth(symbolic of the family and the nation, the link between present and past, the role of the individual in the greater community), Vesta, was Capricorn's 'Tutelary Deity'.

In Greek mythology Saturn is Cronos, Time, who decrees the limits of all things, and who stands with his scythe to announce impending death.

[Something to ponder]

Judaism = Arian, of Aries, let's look at the other three Cardinals :

Libra - Sign of covenants and law
Cancer - Sign of home, diet, and the mother
Capricorn - Sign of duty, social responsibility, and the father

Libra is the sign of the law's origin and purpose, Capricorn is the sign of it's operation and enforcement.

Christianity = Piscean, Pisces, the other three Mutables :

It's emphasis on virginity and celibacy are Virgoan, it's elaborate and divisive theology is Geminian, and it's missionary zeal and sacerdotalism are Sagittarian.

As the book i'm working through at the moment links the Zodiac with the Gospels this is the reason for all the scripture posts.
All the same i'm kinda at the point in believing they do indeed have some connection and so post away about it, personally i find it fascinating and feel a newness of spirit inside.
I'm more that three quarters through this particular study and God willing i'll have about three roads to choose from next.
1, Ptolemy's 'Tetrabiblios' - Classical Astrology
2, Seiss' 'The gospel in the stars' - more along the same lines of this thread, though much more detailed.
3, Allen's 'Star names: Their lore and meaning' - i've waited about a month for this particular book, hopefully this week it arrives.

I'll probably go with Allen's book next, purely Astrological, but first, after the current book i gotta re-read the book of Mark, see if any patterns can be noticed, it would be rad if it did indeed go from Aries to Pisces.

"Lawyers are all right, I guess – but it doesn't  ... appeal to me," I said. "I mean they're all right if they go around saving innocent guys' lives all the time, and like that, but you don't do that kind of stuff if you're a lawyer. All you do is make a lot of dough and play golf and play bridge and buy cars and drink Martinis and look like a hot-shot. And besides. Even if you did go around saving guys' lives and all, how would you know if you did it because you really wanted to save guys' lives, or because you did it because what you really wanted to do was be a terrific lawyer, with everybody slapping you on the back and congratulating you in court when the goddam trial was over, the reporters and everybody, the way it is in the dirty movies? How would you know you weren't being a phony? The trouble is, you wouldn't."

Apart from including a greek index, an arabic index, a general index, as well as scripture references, this book of Allen's is not for the beginner, sure it's one of the most amazing sights i've set eyes on but at this time Seiss' book seems way more friendly.
Allen's book looks like the master class, i'll try throw a pic or two up but will have to wait till current shock at the sight of it passes for now.
Seiss' book was published by masons, the print i got, ...Allen's is from hardcore city.

The Sufis tell an illuminating and humorous story which suggests a more liberal attitude to scripture than that of the literalists. A preacher, renowned for his wisdom, drew large crowds wherever he went. At the end of his sermons he would often be asked the secret of his great wisdom. He always replied 'I am wise because i know what is in the Koran.' One day, a questioner decided to probe further: 'Tell us, then. Just what is in the Koran?' 'In the Koran', replied the teacher, 'there are two pressed flowers and a letter from my friend Abdullah.'

“Followers of the Way, if you wish to see this Dharma clearly, do not let yourselves be deceived. Whether you turn to the outside or to the inside, whatever you encounter, kill it. If you meet the Buddha, kill the Buddha; if you meet the patriarchs, kill the patriarchs; if you meet Arhats, kill Arhats; if you meet your parents, kill your parents; if you meet your relatives, kill your relatives; then for the first time you will see clearly. And if you do not depend on things, there is deliverance, there is freedom!”
Zen Teaching of Rinza

Matthew 23 8-10
But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
