 The Edge of the Gulf: 2/12/01 Deep Sea Expedition to the Gulf of Mexico NOAA has just declared "a new era of ocean exploration," and provided see funding in 2001. More expeditions to ocean frontiers are planned. Abyssal currents and storms apparently derive their energy from surface ocean currents. The team found deep furrows near the base of the escarpment that were clearly being formed during the present day. Researchers from the University of South Florida found the underwater slick south of Mobile, AL, about 22 miles northeast of the sunken and leaking rig. It had the highest concentrations of dissolved oil at depths of 400 meters.
"The discovery is significant because it verifies the presence of dissolved hydrocarbons in the deep recesses of the Gulf of Mexico that cannot be seen with the human eye but could eventually become a threat to marine life and habitats," the university said in a release.

Although BP's troubled well in the Gulf of Mexico appears to be plugged from the top and bottom, the federal spill commander said Friday that government and company officials have agreed that a relief well should be completed to ensure a permanent seal. Retired Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen raised the possibility Thursday that last week's "static kill" operation, in which the well's inner casing was jammed with cement, might have made that final step unnecessary. A four-hour pressure test was conducted to determine whether oil was still flowing freely from a deep reservoir into the outer ring of the well bore. The readings indicated the flow had been blocked by last week's cementing. "We have sealed the well at this point," Allen said Friday. A new government report suggests oil that reached shore from the Deepwater Horizon spill site and became buried in sand will “degrade through natural process,” but some scientists are at odds over it, one calling the spill a “3-D catastrophe." The report says the “vast majority” of oil that was allowed to contaminate the Gulf of Mexico has disappeared, thanks to “robust” cleanup efforts and nature’s ability to take care of itself. Early last week, the government announced 4.9 million barrels of oil spilled into the Gulf. Two days later it issued the report that states about 33 percent of the spilled oil found in the water had been burned, dispersed, skimmed, or recovered by cleanup efforts. In addition, 25 percent evaporated into the atmosphere or dissolved in the Gulf, with another 16 percent of the oil dispersing via a natural breakup process into microscopic droplets. The last 26 percent, according to the report, is either on or just below the Gulf’s surface, washed ashore or collected from the shores, or is buried along the Gulf’s coastlines. But to David Hollander, a University of South Florida chemical oceanographer, the NOAA estimates are “ludicrous.” “It’s almost comical,” he states, according to National Geographic News. The reality, according to Hollander, is the government can only account for 25 percent of the spilled oil, that which has been burned off, skimmed, or directly collected. As an example, the government report notes all submerged oil is considered dispersed, therefore not harmful, Hollander said. However, as the effects of oil mixed with dispersants at great ocean depths is still unknown, that’s not necessarily true, Hollander added. “There are enormous blanket assumptions.” The new government report came just days after speculation about the disappearing oil. After a capping of the well on July 19, US Coast Guard flyovers reported no big patches of crude oil on the Gulf’s surface. The Gulf of Mexico situation. Anderson Cooper as been somewhat brave and worthy of doing the best they will allow him to do, on exposing this sham of the "closure" of the leaking well. Beloveds there are now 32 leaking wells, and the big blowout is a massive hole in the ground and can never be capped. There is indeed a line about 100 of your miles long, which is leaking generously, more so every day. I will not put Candace at risk to give the coordinates on that. Beloveds, there is NO cap. There is NO BOP the nonexistent cap is on. That area was blown to smithereens, as you say. We have caught them "deleting" oil from the satellite images since the "cap" story and beloveds Candace is jumping for joy, because over the weekend, the crew forgot to delete the oil from the images around the blowout area. It's all there for the world to see. The oil began to move up the Atlantic around the tip of Florida in very early June. Its well on it's way to the rest of the world. And more coming. From our perspective the surface of most of the gulf has anywhere from a significant layer to sheen and the oil that is settling down, is in fact much more that what is on the surface. Today it is being reported on your news that the booms are being brought in. True. By the truck loads. These ones are preparing to get out of there dear ones, the ones in the know. And the ones in the know include a lot of those clean up workers, and the teams doing the booms out on the ocean. THEY are sick and they know and they are turning in their resignations. BP is in fact moving out of the area, getting their own out of the way. Well away. The pressures are increasing daily. More oil is flowing than before. All these "leaking" wells are leaking and eroding from these increases in pressure. It is only a matter of time. Now, why are they removing the booms? Because they are trying to create the idea all is fine. We stopped that last storm, on my orders in fact. We may stop the next one. These poor people need a chance and time to realize what is going on and let some of them choose to make their way out of there. The stories are spreading. Some will attempt to leave, in fact many already are, but soon, as the waves begin increasing even from the next storm and they see what is really happening as this stuff washes in greater quantity on their shores, they will become afraid and they will leave, and we will give some time for them to do so by keeping the storms modest and not of hurricane strength. The people need to see. Stories will fly The air is toxic there. It is getting worse all over the planet and many of you have headaches and tiredness are breathing bad air. All over the planet. There are numerous other methane and oil leakages over many other oil beds on the planet. Many seafloors are "adjusting", and so are many land areas. There was a small 3.0 quake in Louisiana dear ones, this is due to the "leaks". Plates are moving. The people there are also feeling these plate movements, even though the news keeps it quiet.
