My first inclination is that this could well be an accident. After all, small planes do crash in bad weather, and even in good weather.
I am sorry that human beings are dead. But let us be honest, Ted Stevens was a fantastically corrupt Senator, a tool of Big Oil, a fat pig in a Senate of pigs. He never, to my knowledge, opposed the plans of the "New World Order" or the corporate government or the military - industrial complex.
Thus I would question "Who would want an ex-Senator killed, when the man never opposed the plans of the elite?"
There is little bit of wierdness that does give me pause.
During the Bush years, Democrats and critics of Bush were prosecuted over real or imagined offenses while Republicans were usually given a free pass. Yet Stevens was prosectuted under Bush, and it was under Obama that the charges were reversed. Stevens was guilty, but the Bush Justice Dept hid evidence and behaved in their usual illegal manner.
The only thing I can think of is that Colin Powell, for decades a reliable war criminal and killer for the elites, had a slight falling out with some of the extreme Neo-Cons who ran the Bush government. He called them the "crazies" and his aide called them "likudniks". Powell was advocating a slightly more balanced policy towards Israel, saying the US should make friends in the Muslim world and not just follow the Neo-Cons and Israel.
Stevens was close to Powell and I think Powell testified on his behalf. Was the thinking that with his convictions over turned, Stevens might get back into politics, as Senator or Governor? Or be a powerful lobbyist in Washington? And that he might share some of the ideas of Powell, or be aligned with him some how? Or that Stevens with his oil background, and O'Keefe with military/aerospace, would agree with Powell and want better relations with the Arab oil countries, or arm sales to them, that Israel and the Neo-Cons would oppose?
That is the only thing I can think of.
Unless it is pure inter-elite fued over money-power, like one evil mafia drug lord bumping off a rival.
Otherwise I can't think of who would want him dead.

From wiki:
"On April 7, 2009, federal judge Emmet G. Sullivan formally accepted Holder's motion to set aside the verdict and throw out the indictment,[106] based on what he called the worst case of prosecutorial misconduct he'd ever seen. He also initiated a criminal contempt investigation of six members of the prosecution."
Hmm. So members of the Bush (In)Justice Department may be facing criminal charges. I am sure they are having a toast now that the chief potential witness against them is dead.

VECO CorporationVECO Corporation was an Alaska-based oil pipeline service and construction company until its purchase in September 2007 by CH2M HILL. As of that date, the VECO Corporation ceased to exist. Founded in 1968, the company grew to become a major player in the Alaskan oil industries' support. VECO also was a worldwide player in the oil industry, having divisions in many major oil markets. Exxon Valdez oil spillOn March 24, 1989, the oil tanker Exxon Valdez ran aground on Bligh Reef, spilling eleven million gallons of crude oil into the waters of Prince William Sound. The Exxon Valdez oil spill was the largest in United States history. VECO was responsible for large parts of the spill's clean up, hiring 2,500 workers to clean up the environmental disaster.Alaska Legislature corruption scandalOn August 31, 2006 officers with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Internal Revenue Service raided the offices of several prominent members of the Alaska Legislature. Raided were the offices of Sen. John Cowdery (R-Anchorage), Senate President Ben Stevens (R-Anchorage), Rep. Vic Kohring (R-Wasilla), Rep. Bruce Weyhrauch (R-Juneau), Sen Don Olson (D-Nome), and Rep. Pete Kott (R-Eagle River). The investigation involves allegations of illegal gifts to law makers from VECO. Sarah Palin is another Alaskan politician that received campaign support from VECO. The International Herald Tribune reported on September 3, 2008, "As Palin campaigned unsuccessfully in 2002 to become lieutenant governor, she received contributions from executives at VECO Corp., a powerful Alaska oil field services company." The questionable donations totaled $4,500, over 10% of all her funding that year. Allen admitted that he had given executives money to be contributed in his "bonus" program though he denied knowing that the laundering was illegal. Also named in the search warrants were VECO officers Bill J. Allen, Rick Smith and Pete Leathard. VECO executives indicted, plead guiltyOn May 7, 2007, VECO CEO Bill Allen and Vice President for Community & Government Affairs Rick Smith pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Anchorage to charges of extortion, bribery, and conspiracy to impede the Internal Revenue Service. In addition to the three politicians arraigned on May 4, the new court filings mention illegal payments made to a former state senator, named as "Senator B" in court documents, who received over $200,000 from VECO Corp. over several years, income which Senator B reported as "consulting fees." In the May 7 guilty pleas by Allen and Smith, they admit that the only work done by Senator B in exchange for the funds was advancing VECO's agenda in the state legislature. The only former state senator who matches the information contained in court documents about Senator B is former Senator Ben Stevens (R-Anchorage), son of U.S. Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska). To date, Ben Stevens has not been indicted. Another state senator discussed in the court documents who later pled guilty, was identified as "Senator A." He was John Cowdery. On 3/12/09 ex-state representative Beverly Masek pled guilty to taking $4,000 in bribes from Allen [edit] Allen, Smith resign On May 11, 2007 the VECO Corporation announced that CEO Bill Allen and Vice President for Community & Government Affairs Rick Smith had resigned from the corporation. Alright, I don't know that much about Stevens. What's the motive?
Yes, any time a prominent person goes down in a small prop-plane it is suspicious (John F. Kennedy Jr.).
You'd think they would learn to fly commercial, but it doesn't always save you (Larry McDonald).

Throughout my lifetime, the ONLY "plane crashes" I would read about are when INFLUENTIAL people(that also happen to be a THREAT) were on those planes.
Other than that, plane crashes are rare, RARE.
BTW - there's been COUNTLESS movies dealing with plane crashes - no wonder why...it was to CONDITION us...no wonder why the masses are apathetic when plane crashes happen(unless their loves ones were on there).

Seems that being on a plane is the most dangerous place for Politicians these days.
such a powerful post ...i wonder how they are doing it? having a stealth fighter shadow the planes or is it one of those drones they use in iraq, could even be a military jet with a microwave gun mounted on the front and aimed at the engine to seize the motor up ...one possibility is they replace the controls with an RC unit and control the plane from a distance

And of course Alaska only has 700,000 people and CA has roughly 37 million people. So per capita, Alaska has a higher % of airplane accidents. If Alaska had 37 million people, by the figures that Brocke pulled up, Alaska theoretically could have approximately 265 fatal accidents. No one really knows. We do know that the weather is much nastier in Alaska.

"CBS news reported tonight that 1 in 5 airplane crashes in the USA HAPPEN IN ALASKA" I think that is a warped number. Per capita is a different issue and still does not explain why mostly politicians get assassinated via the plane weapon.

I know Tommy Tucker, a friend of ours. We've flown in this area many times. You never fly through Lake Clark Pass without the weather being good. What I don't understand is why they crashed "a few miles from the lodge" which from the article below is where they took off from. If the weather was that bad, why did they even take off? If they flew "into a mountain" as the article says, how could rescue people get to them so quickly? Maybe they were not that high up but flying low. It will be very interesting to know what those who are still alive have to say about this. That will tell the real story. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9HHABHO0&show_article=1 DILLINGHAM, Alaska (AP) - Former Sen. Ted Stevens lay dead in the mangled fuselage of the plane. A 13-year-old boy escaped death but watched his father die a few feet away. Medical workers spent the miserable night tending to survivors' broken bones amid a huge slick of fuel that coated a muddy mountainside. The gruesome details of the plane crash that killed Stevens and four others emerged as investigators tried to figure out how the float plane crashed into a mountain during a fishing trip. Three teenagers and their parents were on the plane, including the former head of NASA. Authorities were studying weather patterns to understand if overcast skies, rain and gusty winds played a role in a crash that claimed the life of the most revered politician in Alaska history. The Republican was remembered as a towering political figure who brought billions of dollars to the state during his 40 years in the Senate—a career that ended amid a corruption trial in 2008. He was later cleared of the charges. A pilot who was one of the first to arrive at the scene described a horrific scene of airplane wreckage, fuel, rainy weather, dead bodies and frightened survivors. As he helped shuttle a doctor and two EMTs to the scene about three hours after the crash, Tom Tucker described seeing a survivor still strapped in the front seat with the nose of the plane disintegrated. His head was cut, and his legs appeared to be broken. "The front of the aircraft was gone," Tucker said. "He was just sitting in the chair." He and other responders made a tarp tent over the missing cockpit to keep him dry. It was rainy and cold, and he believes the passengers' heavy duty waders protected them when they went into shock. Temperatures ranged from about 48 degrees to 50 degrees overnight at Dillingham. "These individuals were cold. We covered them up with blankets and made them as comfortable as we could." Master Sgt. Jonathan Davis, one of the first National Guardsmen to reach the crash site, told ABC's "Good Morning America" that the waders helped the injured by acting "as sort of a survival-type blanket," keeping body heat in and water out. The flights at Dillingham are often perilous through the mountains, even in good weather. NTSB chairwoman Deborah Hersman said weather conditions at the time of the accident included light rain, clouds and gusty winds. The federal investigation is still in its early stages, and it's too early to say what caused the crash, Hersman said. "We're certainly looking at weather, but everything's on the table right now and we haven't ruled anything out," Hersman told CNN on Wednesday morning. She said investigators had not yet been able to talk to the crash survivors. Hersman said the group had eaten lunch at a lodge and boarded a 1957 red-and-white float plane between 3 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. local time for a trip to a salmon fishing camp. The FAA had previously said the plane took off between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Lodge operators called the fish camp at 6 p.m. to inquire when the party would be returning for dinner, but were told that they never showed up. Civilian aircraft were dispatched, and pilots quickly spotted the wreckage a few miles from the lodge, Hersman said. The doctor and EMTs were flown to the area and hiked to the wreckage as fog and rain blanketed the area and nightfall set in, making it impossible for rescue officials to reach the scene until daybreak. The Federal Aviation Administration said the DeHavilland DHC-3T was registered to Anchorage-based General Communications Inc., a phone and Internet company. The victims were identified as Stevens; pilot Theron "Terry" Smith, 62, of Eagle River; William "Bill" Phillips Sr.; Dana Tindall, 48, an executive with GCI; and her 16-year-old daughter Corey Tindall. The four survivors were former NASA administrator Sean O'Keefe and his teenage son; William "Willy" Phillips Jr., 13; and Jim Morhard, of Alexandria, Va. They were taken to Providence Hospital in Anchorage with "varying degrees of injuries," Alaska State Troopers said on Tuesday. Former NASA spokesman Glenn Mahone said O'Keefe, 54, and his son had broken bones and other injuries. Sean O'Keefe was listed in critical condition Wednesday. His son, Kevin O'Keefe, and Morhard were listed in serious condition. The hospital said the younger Phillips was not listed in its directory, and it wasn't immediately clear where he was. Stevens and O'Keefe were fishing companions and longtime Washington colleagues who worked together on the Senate Appropriations Committee that the Republican lawmaker led for several years. Stevens became a mentor to the younger O'Keefe and they remained close friends over the years. Morhard and the elder Phillips also worked with Stevens in Washington. Plane crashes in Alaska are somewhat common because of the treacherous weather and mountainous terrain. Many parts of the state are not accessible by roads, forcing people to travel by air to reach their destinations. "It's just a reality of Alaska life and unfortunately it caught up with him," Stevens family spokesman Mitch Rose said on NBC's "Today." Stevens was one of two survivors in a 1978 plane crash at Anchorage International Airport that killed his wife, Ann, and several others. Stevens was a legend in his home state, where he was known as "Uncle Ted." The wiry octogenarian was appointed in December 1968 and became the longest-serving Republican in Senate history. Nina Corbett, co-owner of the Windmill Grille in Dillingham, was saddened by the loss of Stevens. "We're such a youthful state," she said Tuesday night while taking a break from serving pizza, hot sandwiches, tap beer and wine from a box to visiting fishermen in the restaurant along the road to the town's airport. "He's the only senator we've ever known." ___

10,000 feet. Glaciers everywhere. On a nice day it is beautiful. Click on the link below and scroll down until you see Lake Clark Pass to see the current weather CAMS for Lake Clark Pass East and West. The "clear day" images will show you what it looks like. Right now the weather looks foggy. Sounds like "pilot error" to me if the weather was this bad as the CAMS show. http://akweathercams.faa.gov/sitelist.php

Here's more info: "More and more white-mantled mountains loom up as your plane approaches the park. Suddenly you are flying through Lake Clark Pass, and before you spreads out what looks like an endless enchanted wilderness: rugged mountains with gleaming blue glaciers flowing down through the valleys between them, winding rivers, waterfalls cascading hundreds of feet to end in multicolored sprays of foam, and the flanks of mountains covered with blazing red and orange fireweed. As you fly out of the pass, the great lake where you will land appears. Lake Clark is 40 miles long and five miles wide, and its color is a lovely blue. On its southeastern shore, the little community of Port Alsworth is the site of the park's field headquarters and the place where most visitors settle in for a good, long look at some of North America's most outstanding and varied scenery. All of Alaska seems to converge here. Visitors to the park can stay a few days, weeks, or months and enjoy the tremendous solitude of the place. At 4 million acres, Lake Clark is approximately 13 times the size of Grand Teton National Park. The Newhalen River is famous for its fantastic runs of red salmon, as is the Iliamna River for its rainbow trout. Lake Clark and nearby Lake Iliamna support the world's largest runs of sockeye salmon. If you can visit only one place in Alaska and wish to avoid the crowds of the Kenai Peninsula or Denali National Park, Lake Clark will be the place for you. Lake Clark's diverse landscape and wildlife offer visitors countless opportunities for sightseeing and outdoor recreation. Keep reading to learn more about the sights you'll see in this enormous park." http://adventure.howstuffworks.com/lake-clark-national-park-ga.htm

Sounds like "pilot error" to me if the weather was this bad as the CAMS show. http://akweathercams.faa.gov/sitelist.php Thanks Lee

An Army National Guard helicopter crashed on Alaska's Knik Glacier during a rescue attempt to pick up five people stranded after a plane crash, officials said. Guard spokesman Maj. Guy Hayes said the helicopter's three-member crew wasn't injured in the crash Tuesday, while two of the original plane crash survivors reported minor injuries. By Tuesday night, the military said three of the five victims from Sunday's plane crash were rescued, and another helicopter was sent to pick up the other two. Nine people, including the seven Guardsmen, were on the glacier Tuesday night. Hayes said a supply drop was made with provisions that could last about a week. Inclement weather Monday hampered the Knik Glacier rescuers, who were redirected to the Dillingham area after an airplane crashed there Monday, killing five, including former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens, Hayes said. Severe weather early Tuesday thwarted several rescue attempts by an Alaska State Troopers helicopter, AST spokeswoman Beth Ipsen said. "There was a report of white-out conditions," Ipsen said. "Freezing rain, white-out conditions and snow." The downed Black Hawk helicopter, one of two dispatched to Knik Glacier, "slid and rolled over" while trying to land, leaving the multimillion dollar aircraft "heavily damaged," Hayes said, adding that authorities would investigate. The second Black Hawk reported the accident and returned to Fort Richardson, the Daily News said. a"We're still doing exactly what we've been trying to do," Hayes said. "They're just going to wait for that weather opening and try to get in there and pull everybody off." http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/woalert_read.php?glide=VI-20100811-27377-USA

something smells awefully rotton.
1. And there weren't any other airplanes flying around during in Alaska during the same period that Steven's airplane's just crashed.
2. As if Ptech or some aviation system just couldn't be hacked or hijacked and crash the system.
3. As if the government just couldn't mess up the radio frequency signals via Haarp and ruin the navigation and the pilot's window in Alaskan weather.
4. As if Safety wasn't a BIG concern for Stevens and these other people, professional pilots, air controllers. Like they just don't take into account for Alaskan Weather, environmental conditions and the health of pilots, passengers. etc.. something is fishy... but that's busines NWO

NORAD was running a drill! Operation Vigilante EagleAug 6 - 11 NORAD praises results of joint air defense drills with RussiaRussian Air Force Col. Alexander Vasiliev, right, talks with Canadian Forces Col. Todd Balfe, left, deputy commander of the Alaskan NORAD region, as U.S. Air Force interpreter Tech. Sgt. Paul Shoop, center, translates, as they fly aboard a civilian airplane playing the role of a hijacked airliner, Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 on a route from an undisclosed location in the Far East to Alaska. (AP / Ted S. Warren) Officers of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) say they are satisfied with the results of joint anti-terrorism drills with the Russian Air Force and hope for further cooperation. The exercise, dubbed Vigilant Eagle, was carried out on August 6-11, and involved Russian, Canadian and U.S. air force personnel operating from command centers at the Elmendorf airbase in Alaska, and in Khabarovsk, Russia. "This exercise is one milestone in working together in other future efforts. Our folks are proud to be a part of such an important event and are passionate about partaking in efforts to protect our borders," Air Force Lt. Col. John Oberst was quoted as saying on the NORAD Website. The exercise scenario, put together by NORAD and U.S. Northern Command, created a situation requiring both the Russian Air Force and NORAD to launch or divert fighter aircraft to investigate and follow a U.S. flagged Golfstream 4 plane on an international flight that has been taken over by terrorists. "What we are practicing today is the communication procedures between NORAD, plus U.S. civilian air traffic control agencies and our Russian counterparts so that we can pass on information to them about air terrorism events to allow them to posture their forces to respond in kind," Canadian Forces Col. Todd Balfe, Alaska NORAD Region deputy commander, said. The drills involved U.S. AWACS E-3B and Russian A-50 airborne warning and control aircraft, Russian MiG-31 and Su-27 fighters and U.S. F-22 interceptors, along with refueling aircraft from both countries. http://en.rian.ru/mlitary_news/20100812/160168080.html Pulses quicken as fighters track 'hijacked' planeBy DAN ELLIOTT (AP) – 1 day ago ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska — A Gulfstream passenger jet at the center of a U.S.-Russian military exercise was about to cross the International Dateline for the second time in three days, and some of the seven passengers seemed dulled by the dash across the Pacific and back. But they all perked up and the mood turned jovial when Air Force Tech. Sgt. Paul Shoop called out, "They're here!" Two Russian Su-27 fighter jets had come into view behind the chartered Gulfstream on Tuesday and were closing fast. The Gulfstream was playing the role of a hijacked airliner crossing Russian airspace on its way east across the Pacific, and the fighters had been sent aloft to track it. It was part of the precedent-setting Vigilant Eagle exercise to see how well Russia and the North American Aerospace Defense Command, once bitter Cold War enemies, could coordinate in an international hijacking. The Gulfstream took off from Alaska on Sunday, sent a mock distress signal indicating it had been "hijacked," and then flew west across the Pacific pursued first by fighters from NORAD — a joint U.S.-Canadian command — and then by fighters from Russia. The pursuit was in the opposite direction Tuesday as the plane headed back to Alaska. The Gulfstream, code-named Fencing 1220, carried U.S., Canadian and Russian officers. The Associated Press had exclusive access to the plane during the exercise. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5hF9xezzIggkZHfvIB_EkgmOF-e-QD9HHHEAG0 VIGILANT EAGLE tests NORAD, Russian responsehttp://www.norad.mil/News/2010/081010.html

Microwaves Vs. MissilesSecurity experts have been spooked since 2002, when terrorists tried to take down an Israeli passenger jet flying out of Kenya with a pair of Soviet-made, shoulder-fired missiles. Defense contractor Raytheon may have found a futuristic answer to the throwback threat: a microwave blaster that confuses the weapons’ guidance systems. The Vigilant Eagle system uses a series of passive infrared trackers, surrounding an airport, that look out for missile exhaust. When these sensors detect a launch, data about the missile’s trajectory is sent to a control center, which in turn tells a billboard-size microwave array where to blast.
