YouTube is your friend

With youtube vids nowadays cause the A/V quality is so good, recording a vid straight from youtube is a very convenient way of grabbing free hi-quality vids, which can be done with a browser add-on or a stand-alone program, both cost nothing.

Take this Beatles vid here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fup2KSfXTW8

It's 23.31MB /Video = MPEG4 (H264) 640x480 /Audio =  AAC 44100Hz stereo

On many of the vids the audio quality is above 1000K, the secret is to look for the newer ones, 480p, 720p, or 1080p are generally gonna look and sound fantastic.
This is what i do with all the vids i like, i save them and watch on my preferred media player.

I usually use a browser add-on, keep it active most of the time, and what happens is this :
Whenever you watch a vid on the web it'll be temporarily stored, and available for instant transfer to your hard-drive, until you clear browser history.

A good browser add-on is "freecorder 4".
http://www.applian.com/sound-recorder/

If you use it, hit the freecorder 4 "options" tab from the tools /add-ons window in your browser once installed (not the "settings" tab of the actual program) and un-check everything.

A good stand-alone program which can grab more types of vids than an add-on is Flv Recorder 4
http://www.flvrecorder.com/download.htm

With this one you hit the start button on the program and any vids played after this will be temporarily stored too, like the add-on, and available for instant transfer to your hard-drive, until you clear browser history.

Any questions about using these programs feel free to ask.

I had an original directors account that let me upload an hour. Then google bought youtube and everything changed. Now I have the ten minute limit, cause google needs more space for porn and ip tracking. I find that downloadhelper addon for firefox is great for saving videos for watching when offline.

I don't think Google is concerned with data storage.  Remember, these are the guys who mapped Mars, the moon, the ocean floor, and drive around with cameras on cars taking pictures of everything else. Cheesy

They also give out a ton of email space, host other shit for free (Google Apps for Your Domain), and do all kinds of other shit.

use mozilla firefox and adblock plus. i do and never get any ads!
(you might need to manually block the ad-frames and the video-ad urls. it might not do it automatically)

SPREAD THE FEEDBACK LINK AND ASK THEM TO REMOVE THE LIMIT because it does not keep tv-series uploaders away!
http://forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=163836

the limit only keeps information from psreading, because people dont like to watch something in 15minute clips!
it also keeps user comments under every 15 minute clip, instead of 1 long video! (so it's spread all over the internets, not in the same place)

I use RealPlayer which comes with the online video downloader "Realplayer Downloader," "RealPlayer Trimmer" (to trim and shorten long video clips) and the "RealPlayer Media Player." It is free and available for both Microsoft and Apple operating systems. I have Windows 8 on my PC and Mac OS X Version 10.7.5 on my MacBook, in which "RealPlayer" is installed and functional on both.
