ARCADIA, Fla. - A former Arcadia police officer accused of lying on police affidavits is under the microscope again. This time his name is at the center of allegations of police brutality. A mugshot shows James South just after he was arrested on September 11, 2006. South says Arcadia police pulled him over for a broken tag light and told him he was under arrest. "I thought at first they were joking. And i didn't recognize the cop at all. Because I know a lot of the cops and I thought maybe he's just pulling my chain," South told CALL FOR ACTION. South says the officer wasn't joking and pulled him out of the car. South filed a lawsuit in Desoto County court. It says that officer was Deighton Bolt - a officer CALL FOR ACTION first told you about last year. Bolt admitted during a deposition he had repeatedly lied on police reports. Now he and two other officers are facing allegations of police brutality. "I remember being maced a few times punched in the face. Repeatedly," said South.

since the cop is black I wonder if the white victim can have him charged with a racially motivated hate crime.
Nazi pigs gone wild.
Someone needs to start a website that only has police brutality vids and articles . It would be a big hit

A Harford County Circuit Court judge ruled this afternoon that a motorcyclist who was arrested for videotaping his traffic stop by a Maryland State Trooper was within his rights to record the confrontation. Judge Emory A Pitt Jr. tossed all the charges filed against Anthony Graber, leaving only speeding and other traffic violations, and most likely sparing him a trial that had been scheduled for Oct. 12. The judge ruled that Maryland's wire tap law allows recording of both voice and sound in areas where privacy cannot be expected. He ruled that a police officer on a traffic stop has no expectation of privacy. "Those of us who are public officials and are entrusted with the power of the state are ultimately accountable to the public," the judge wrote. "When we exercise that power in public fora, we should not expect our actions to be shielded from public observation." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHjjF55M8JQ http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/crime/blog/2010/09/motorcyclist_wins_taping_case.html

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - There are new details now in a story exclusively on 24-hour news 8. A former Marion County jail inmate claims food doused with pepper spray sent him to the hospital with serious injuries. That inmate is suing the Marion County jail. New Thursday night, 24-hour news 8 uncovered new information about the deputy sheriff accused of purposely injuring two inmates. Special Deputy Larry Miers had been a correction officer for about a year when he found himself in big trouble. It was trouble that launched an internal investigation. An inmate says Miers decided to add an extra unwanted ingredient to his food. "As soon as I chewed it up and swallowed it, that's when I knew something was definitely wrong," said Johnson. In his lawsuit against the county, former jail inmate James Johnson says Miers secretly sprayed pepper spray on his chicken. "The other officer that sprayed it was laughing. A pregnant, unarmed woman was shot during a drug raid in Spokane on Friday morning and she remained hospitalized late last night as investigators pieced together what happened in the county's third officer-involved shooting in four weeks. A Washington State Patrol detective sergeant shot the woman, who according to the sheriff's spokesman is 39 weeks pregnant, while serving a search warrant at the Victoria Apartments, 1405 N. Lincoln St., according to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting along with members of the Spokane Police Department and the WSP. Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan confirmed that officers found no weapons in the home but did find quantities of drugs during the execution of the search warrant. "During the entry, a female suspect inside the apartment became non-compliant with officers' instructions," Reagan wrote in a news release. "When she attempted to flee out a bedroom window, officers attempted to restrain her. During efforts to prevent her escape, a shot was fired and the woman suffered a minor wound to her upper torso. She fell out the window and received first aid from containment officers stationed at the back of http://www.thenewstribune.com/2010/09/25/1356027/state-patrol-officer-shoots-pregnant.html

Reporting from Calexico, Calif. — An inspector for U.S. Customs and Border Protection was charged Friday with conspiring to smuggle cocaine and methamphetamine through his inspection lane at the California- Mexico border crossing in Calexico, federal authorities said. The officer, Oscar Osbaldo Ortiz-Martinez, a two-year veteran, allegedly accepted $52,000 in bribes from informants and federal undercover agents posing as drug traffickers in exchange for allowing what he believed were drug-laden cars to pass through his lane without inspection. Ortiz-Martinez was arrested Thursday while receiving a bribe of $30,000 in a supermarket parking lot in El Centro, Calif., authorities said. Ortiz-Martinez, 30, and an alleged accomplice, Victor Manuel Silva, 30, are scheduled for a detention hearing Tuesday. The case is the latest in a string of corruption investigations targeting U.S. Border Patrol agents and customs inspectors along the U.S.-Mexico border. Federal authorities are concerned that Mexican trafficking groups are ramping up their efforts to infiltrate border agencies by paying huge bribes. The investigation against Ortiz-Martinez and Silva was triggered in August 2009. Authorities received a tip from an informant who said Silva had approached him about a smuggling scheme, saying he knew a customs inspector, Ortiz-Martinez, who would let drugs through for a fee of $120 per kilo. Silva, believing that the informant had ties to.... http://articles.latimes.com/2010/sep/25/local/la-me-corruption-20100925

DA's son assaults a man. The day before he is to go to court on those charges, the man is killed in an explosion. DA says he killed himself. [/size][/b] “Caution! Graphic photos inside … This issue is not suitable for children or sensitive adults.” So reads a warning prominently displayed on the front page of the Aug. 22 edition of the Sacramento Valley Mirror, the hard-hitting little twice-weekly out of Willows. The warning accompanies the 26th and most recent story in a series called, variously, “Who killed Bud?” or “How did Bud die?” that editor and publisher Tim Crews has been running since August 2008. That number doesn’t include his original July 25, 2007, report on Ivan “Bud” Foglesong’s death by fire three days earlier, on July 22, 2007. And it’s going to grow. In fact, as of this writing, he has another in the works for his Wednesday, Sept. 2, issue. Crews believes he has more than good reason for this tenacity. The law-enforcement agents who investigated the case—primarily from the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office, but others as well—so thoroughly botched the job, he says, and jumped to such “completely irrational” and “ridiculous” conclusions about the cause of Foglesong’s death, and failed so utterly to explain how the fire occurred, that he had no choice but to stay on the story. Remarkably, he’s managed to come up with a new twist or angle to justify every one of those 26 stories in the series. The Aug. 22 edition is a good example. It devotes the entirety of an inside broadsheet page to showing, for the first time, actual autopsy photos of Foglesong revealing the nature of the damage done to his body. The pictures—five large color photos spread out across the page—are indeed graphic. They show sections of the corpse of a 59-year-old man who was burned over nearly 90 percent of his body. But what they also show is that Foglesong suffered several deep lacerations to his hands and forearm. The official investigation determined that Foglesong died from burns suffered in an accident, though it wasn’t able to say just how that accident occurred. Although the lacerations are noted in the coroner’s autopsy report, they aren’t mentioned anywhere in the investigators’ case report. Crews says he published the autopsy photos to show that Foglesong was the victim of more than a fire—that the lacerations were caused by shrapnel and that he was the victim of some kind of explosive device. In other words, that he didn’t commit suicide or die accidentally while trying to burn down the cabin, as law-enforcement officials surmised. No, Crews charges, “Bud Foglesong was attacked.” In other words, he was murdered. A mysterious death compounded by a flawed investigation always makes good newspaper copy. Toss in wealth and property, social prominence, a feuding family and connections to power, and you have a humdinger. Ivan “Bud” Foglesong was married for 34 years to Jan Holzapfel, whose brother is.... http://www.newsreview.com/chico/content?oid=1183162

An Illinois state trooper who killed two teenage sisters in a high-speed collision, driving 126 mph while sending e-mails and speaking to his girlfriend on his cell phone, has filed a workers' compensation claim for injuries he says he sustained in the fatal crash. Matt Mitchell, who pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and reckless driving, could have thousands of taxpayer dollars coming to him, angering the family of Kelli and Jessica Uhl, who were 18 and 13, respectively, when their vehicle was struck head-on by Mitchell's patrol car the day after Thanksgiving 2007. A group of Birmingham police officers beat an already-unconscious suspect with fists, feet and a billy club, a battering caught on videotape until a police officer turned off the patrol car camera. Authorities believe the video, taken in January 2008 after a chase by several area law enforcement agencies ended when the fleeing suspect's van flipped, has been seen by numerous Birmingham officers and as many as a half-dozen supervisors over the past year. But top city and police officials weren't made aware of the taped beating until they were contacted by the district attorney's office three months ago. In fact, investigators say, the suspect, Anthony Warren, didn't even know he'd been beaten until the tape surfaced in March. Warren was ejected from the vehicle and knocked unconscious, and thought all of his injuries were sustained in the wreck. Police Chief A.C. Roper called the video "shameful." Mayor Larry Langford said it was "disgusting." After an internal investigation into the five officers shown in the video ended Monday, Langford and Roper are scheduled to announce disciplinary action this morning against those officers. "Police brutality changed Birmingham," Langford said in.... watch Videohttp://blog.al.com/spotnews/2009/05/birmingham_police_beating_vide.html

OAKLAND -- Mary Kate Hallock arrived at her Oakland hills home after running errands Tuesday and found a blue note fluttering on her front door. "Oakland police responded to your residence to investigate a burglar alarm," the handwritten note read. "While circling the rear perimeter, lab advanced on officers in a threatening manner before being shot and killed." "Lab" was Gloria, an 11-year-old, arthritic yellow Labrador Hallock's family had owned since she was a puppy. Oakland police shot Gloria three times with a 40-caliber Glock handgun in the family's backyard while responding to a false burglar alarm at the property. The dog, police said, growled and barked at them. "I probably read that note 10 times,"Hallock, an Oakland preschool teacher, said Thursday. "I was incredulous. Gloria's never bit anyone. She's just a gentle old dog, a classic Lab, always wagging her tail." Oakland police defended the shooting as a necessary action. "My heart goes out to the family," said police spokesman Jeff Thomason. "We never want to go into a situation where we hurt a family pet, but in the course of doing our job, sometimes we have to make split-second decisions." The shooting occurred just a few months after Oakland Police Chief Anthony Batts called for a review of police procedures after the controversial videotaped police shooting of a young deer that was cornered in an East Oakland backyard. Officers in that case fired six rounds. The Tuesday incident began after Hallock left her home on Burgos Avenue in the quiet Knowland Park neighborhood just north of the Oakland Zoo. Hallock had set the burglar alarm, and as she had done many times before, she left the downstairs back door open so Gloria could have refuge from the heat in the fenced backyard. The dog apparently tripped the alarm around noon, and the police showed up a few minutes later. As officers circled the house, they saw the back door open and thought an intruder was inside, Thomason said. At that point, Gloria allegedly growled and barked at the officers, and one of the officers fired three rounds, all of which hit the dog - at least one in the head. Police declined to name the officer who fired his weapon. The officer has not been placed on leave and continues to work, Thomason said. "This situation was very unusual," Thomason said, noting that officers usually encounter aggressive dogs in backyards during chases. "It was a very unfortunate but necessary action." 'The kids were crying' When approached by a threatening dog, officers can use pepper spray, a Taser or gun to deter the animal. In this case, the officer probably didn't have time for pepper spray or Tasers, Thomason said. The Hallocks, meanwhile, are devastated. On Tuesday.... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/10/01/BA341FMDDO.DTL

It has become increasingly apparent that as pet owners, we need to replace our "Beware of Dog" signs with "Attention Police: Please Do Not Shoot Our Dog!" signs instead.
However, I'd prefer something more like "Beware of Vengeful Pet Owner".

To me police "officers" are nothing but a govt run gang of psychotic criminals always patroling around looking for fresh meat to victimize. All police need to understand that their superiors have initiated open warfare on the common American citizen. This means if a cop comes on my property to terrorize me, my dogs, my loved ones and my tortoise then he willbe instantly reminded how human he really is with a 12 guage to the face. Will this result in my death? Probably, but a stand must be made.
We need to let thug pigs know they aren't bulletproof demigods.

honestly, I'm sure defending my animals would only serve to get me blasted by swat something but I don't think I can just sit there and take the abuse. I never once in my life called 911 and I've always despised cops even as a child. I hate authority figures that are corrupt and abuse their power which is exactly what police do. I mean, today in 2010, I believe it can be said cops cause more crime than they solve and/or prevent. End of story.

DALLAS -- Three former Dallas police officers have been indicted on charges related to the beating of a motorcyclist Sept. 5, the Dallas County district attorney said Thursday. The beating was recorded by a camera on a patrol car dashboard. Police Chief David Brown previously released footage. "We want to reiterate to the public that we have a world-class police department here in Dallas," District Attorney Craig Watkins said. "These three officers are the exception and not the rule." Paul Bauer, Kevin Randolph and Henry Duetsch, who have since been fired, were indicted Wednesday by a Dallas County grand jury. Bauer was indicted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by a public servant, assault and official oppression. The maximum sentence is 99 years in prison. Randolph was indicted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by a public servant, official oppression and tampering with a governmental record. He also faces up to 99 years in prison. Duetsch was indicted http://www.star-telegram.com/2010/09/30/2510443/3-ex-dallas-police-officers-indicted.html

Germany Shocked by 'Disproportionate' Police Action in Stuttgart A hardline police operation against demonstrators protesting against a new railway station project in Stuttgart has shocked Germany, after more than 100 people were injured by tear gas and water cannon. German commentators argue that the police went overboard and warn of more violence to come. The controversial Stuttgart 21 railway project has been the focus of increasing protests in recent months. But Thursday seemed to mark a turning point as the conflict between the authorities and protesters escalated dramatically. Around 600 police used water cannon, tear gas, pepper spray and batons in an operation against over 1,000 demonstrators in the southwestern city of Stuttgart on Thursday. The activists had tried to use a sit-down protest to prevent the city's Schlossgarten park from being cleared so that work could begin on felling trees in the park as part of construction work on the new station. Thursday's protests were attended by a broad cross-section of society, including pensioners and children. The protest's organizers said in a statement that more than 400 protestors had suffered eye irritation as a result of the police's operation, with some suffering from lacerations or broken noses. The German Red Cross said on Friday morning that 114 demonstrators had been treated on site, and a further 16 were taken to hospitals. Among the injured were school children who had been taking part in an officially registered demonstration. Images of people bleeding from the eye after being hit by water cannon featured on German television and newspapers Friday. One 22-year-old protestor suffered a serious eye injury after being hit in the right eye by a water cannon jet, a Stuttgart doctor told the news agency DPA, adding that the man might lose his sight in that eye as a result. The Stuttgart 21 project involves moving the city's main railway station underground and turning it from a terminus into a through station. The project is controversial partly because of its price tag -- it is slated to cost €4.1 billion ($5.38 billion) -- and because of the trees that will be cut down in the Schlossgarten park. There is also criticism that the project.... http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,720735,00.html

Oh, how true this is. I know for a fact! A friend of mine was picked up, raped and left on a beach naked. She had had too much to drink and they took advantage of her. A kind person found her, gave her covering and took her to the hospital. I will never put anything past them, unfortunately this ruins it for those cops who do actually care...who are seemingly a rare breed.

sickening. I had a friend raped outside my ghetto apartment complex and the cops did nothing. Really less than nothing, if that's possible. They are so worthless I jut don't see what purpose they even serve. If I get robbed or attacked the LAST person I then want to see is a pig. In my fantasy world, there are no cops and instead everyone is strapped.

Sounds like you need to move to Arizona where we have open carry no license required.

You do not think very highly of prison guards I take it.

You do not think very highly of prison guards I take it. ya that was probably too harsh - just want them to feel powerless and see what it's like.

This has been all over the news in the past couple of weeks. Here are some highlights: the two cops can be heard on video planning their attack by knocking the guy off his bike.
After the guy was knocked off his bike, he gave up as the video clearly shows but the cops still beat the crap out of him.
22 cops milled about the scene for one guy with no weapon! Nice to know the rest of Dallas didn't have any problems that night.
One cop is heard whilstling as he walks to his car and turns the camera away from where the guy is being manhandled.
Only one cop the next morning thought enough to give a supervisor a heads up that he might want to check out all the videos from the night before as the rest of the station was getting their kicks watching it.
At least the police chief got right on this instead of shoving it under the rug.
