Costa Rican Govt Approves US Occupation

Thousands of US Troops to 'Fight Drugs'

by Jason Ditz, July 06, 2010
http://news.antiwar.com/2010/07/06/costa-rican-govt-approves-us-occupation/

In another example of the growing militarization of the war on drugs, the Costa Rican government has given the US permission to launch an invasion of up to 7,000 Marines, ostensibly to “fight drugs.”

The vote was extremely controversial in Costa Rica’s legislature, with several MPs arguing that it gave he US a “blank check” to occupy the nation and was a threat to its sovereignty. Costa Rica has had no military of its own since its abolition in 1948.

Preceded by decades of on-again, off-again violence, the lack of a military has actually served the nation quite well over the past 62 years, and Costa Rica is one of the few nations in Central America not to face any violent uprisings or brutal dictatorships. The nation even celerates a holiday, on December 1, called Military Abolition Day.

Indeed, it appears that the only reason the nation is in America’s sights at all is because it is geographically so narrow, and an occupation of it could provide a convenient choke-point for blocking drugs from South America reaching Mexico and eventually, the United States, by land.

Under the terms of the agreement, US troops “will enjoy freedom of movement and the right to carry out any activities needed to fulfill their mission.” In addition to the ground troops, the US will be deploying 46 warships and hundreds of helicopters.

Wink

True that. A friend who lived there years ago, got out. He said the politicians, etc... were really corrupt. That it was not what it appeared to be.

Also, the Iran Contra smuggling went through C.R. to Nic.

I have land in Nicaragua that borders Costa Ricas North. This is disapointing to hear, however the current president of Nicaragua coincidently is also the Rebel President that fought against the US Backed Iran Contras. He has sided with Chavez and Bolivia and would never let the US Military in voluntairly. Slowly all nations will fall under cover of the NWO.

Stupid war on drugs. But not surprising Costa Rica would let our troops in as we do have a protection pact with them, cause they grow our bananas. (Costa Rica has no military of it's own)

"Protection pact"?  I think we all know what "Protection" means.

At least in Detoit, it doesn't mean quite what you think it might mean!

(Generally, you have to pay for it in some form.)

There are US troops in the Darien Gap in Panama too.

H1N1 is hitting Panama and Costa Rica.

They are cutting off the way south out of North America...

the drug money is too good. the USA aint satisfied with "their cut" anymore. theyre just gonna supervise the entire operation at the source.

Or, the NWO recognizes the end of the prohibitionists. The momentum is racing towards legalization of all drugs. the NWO aint just gonna let the cartels become legit. The NWO is gonna take it over first. then legalize it.

Nice...apparently, our military was not making enough money on the 'war on drugs' in Afghanistan and Iraq...wait! we must be expanding the war...

I don't think they really care whether its' legal or illegal, but the prices and profits are much higher WITH prohition hence the 'drug war'.

But, they make money either way.  It's just a matter of how much.

You are right.  I am sure they are making contingency plans for legalization.

kerrymti,

Yeah, exactly, further expansion of the CIA's drug-running activities, to be sure.  Why not?  (from their point-of-view)  Undoubtedly, Afghanistan has been quite the money maker for some folks.

Heroin still sells evidently.

This might be a bigger story than meets the eye. That's a very big deployment for a small country, population of around 4 mil, half of which reside in the capital, San Jose.

And they say it's for 6 months? Hell it takes that long just to stage the action, and longer than that to draw down. I bet they are not leaving in no 6 months.

More likely it's position those troops and equipment for other regional action. Maybe to light up Venezuela and or secure the Panama canal(again), in the event of a global showdown involving Iran, China, etc. You know all the independent thinking South American countries are pissing off the powers that be.

Already the Columbians have been rolling thru there for years with our corporate sanctioned  drug-running, any military action would only be to shore up that action and eliminate any competition.

As Costa Rica has no military and an utterly corrupt police/commando infrastructure, our corporate military can smooth take over the whole country with 7000 marines, 46 warships, 200 helicopters and 10 Harrier ground assault jets. With no clear stated purpose or tactics. This is a takeover.

Lessee, now Nicaragua is surrounded, so likely next they will bring down what's left of their government. So from Mexico all the way thru to Panama and Columbia will be in the bag for the NWO. Is Central America considered part of NorthCom?

Haiti has been cratered(again). Most of the Carribean is in the NWO clutches. The Gulf of Mexico is in shambles. Big time US bases build up in Columbia.

Bush has a lot (a lot) of land in Paraguay sitting over the biggest water reserves in the hemisphere.Chile is pretty much like England is to the US, subservient.

They could strike Cuba and Venezuela easily soon. Brazil and China and Russia are the pieces I'm trying to fit in to the geopolitik.

As they say in El Sur, - "the octopus is still alive".
