CNN reported it and mentioned that they found a grenade a week ago.  the interesting thing was that the on site reporter did not say they were there investigating the grenade (they most certainly were not because they were in the mall and he would have said that - easy paper trail on that).  It was like they were looking for a cover story for why they were there and then mentioned the grenade and that there is a heightened security in all malls.  So that must mean that DHS/FBI is at most malls.  Guess these events are "ready to go" all over the country.  Who is monitoring this clandestine operation (DHS/FBI)?

One of the first things I learned about the Westroads Mall shooting was that Bush had just left Omaha shortly before it happened.  Charlie Gibson mentioned it during his brief news alert during the afternoon yesterday.  One of the first things that occurred to me when I was watching the news about this last night was that he had the same name as character in the tv series, Jericho, as others have already mentioned.  Just for fun, I decided to pursue that angle a little more.

Wikipedia - Robert Hawkins

In the episode "A.K.A.", Hawkins reveals that he is actually a CIA agent. He had been part of a task force set up to recover a shipment of stolen Russian warheads. Those warheads have been converted to bombs and distributed to various extremist groups within the United States. Hawkins also states that he attended Georgetown University.

Hawkins leaves his family and goes undercover with Sarah as his handler. He spends time in prison in an effort to become part of the group. Hawkins' job with the group was to provide them with fake IDs. He also proves his "loyalty" by killing an FBI informant who was about to out his identity. Before he has to kill the informant, Hawkins tells those in charge of the task force that he and Sarah will likely get their hands on 1/3 to 1/2 of the bombs. Sarah successfully pushes for more time so they can get all of them.

Someone tips off the terrorists, so they move up the attack. Hawkins is able to contact the CIA and they stop the bomb(s) destined for New York City. However, this part of the story might be inconsistent with Hawkins surprised response that "New York made it?!" in "Long Live the Mayor" upon learning the news from Gray Anderson. However given his later revelations about being an undercover CIA operative, it is possible Hawkins may have reacted in this manner in order to maintain his cover persona.

All of this information, however, (regarding Hawkins' CIA involvement) is as told by Hawkins to Jake, meaning that it may omit several key truths, or be completely fabricated. One aspect that supports Hawkins story being true, is the use of flashbacks in the episode, which would be unlikely to be shown if it was a fabrication. However, it is possible that the use of such flashbacks is the result of the "unreliable narrator" device, used successfully in films such as "The Usual Suspects".

The "package" being sought by Hawkins' stalkers is a bomb that Hawkins was supposed to deliver to Columbus, Ohio. It is buried under the tool-shed in his backyard.In the season finale, Hawkins uses a satellite to gain intelligence on New Bern's movements. However, someone (Hawkins presumes this is Thomas Valente) begins to trace his location through the uplink. Later, at Camp Liberty in southwest Nebraska, Valente informs Colonel Hoffman that they have tracked a "high-profile terrorist" within 200 miles of Jericho.

Apparently there's a counseling center named Jericho in Omaha.  It would probably be difficult to ascertain whether or not Robert Hawkins ever received treatment there however.

OK, his 2 best friends (he was not a loner, they hung out all the time) said that he was happy, funny, engaging, nice, a great guy.  His landlord said he had turned a corner, went back to get his GED, had a girlfriend (broke up 2 weeks ago, but he was dating up until then).  This is not a unabomber profile.  How are these operations pulled off?  Is there a trigger mechanism?  Although he seems to have wanted to meet someone at the mall (maybe he was told to go there as part of some cool stunt or something) as he was going outside and inside as if looking for someone.  Then he gets there and special ops takes over.  Maybe he was firing in the air, or someone who looked like him was firing, or as he was firing others were too.  Who knows.  But the profile from his friends does not point to a loner, a introverted person like Cho who was completely wacko (and even Cho was incapable of 300 bullets from 30 magazines without getting bumrushed by VT varsity).

OK, now we are getting the 911 tapes (cannot verify the integrity of them since the entire justice system and media system in this country are frauds).  They are of course playing the tapes to invoke fear in the hearts and minds of US citizens.  They will not stop with the shock and awe they wish us to submit to.  But seeing through that, these tapes might give more evidence to what actually happened.  post them if you find anything relevant.

They have surveillance tapes of the entire event so we should soon see if it was one killer or not.  In addition, they suggest that he walked in and out with the rifle without anyone being suspicious.  They have not released the videos yet, but GE/MSNBC has shown a digital cartoon (similar to WTC cartoons) that show almost a video game type look to the entire event (quite dehumanizing).

Anyway hopefully we will see uninterupted video soon and can find out if this guy just got his trigger to go on a rampage, or if others (besides DHS and FBI - we already know they were there) were on the scene.

even in the third picture there is no obvious backpack or way to disguise a sizeable object such as an assault rifle, handguns or an Uzi sure, but not an assault rifle, perhaps with an under-clothes sling system and baggy top, but even then it does not look likely.

I think it's in his sleeve, with the mag pulled. I think that's why his arm is straight. An AK is probably about the right length for that.

it sure could be, fair point, but what about the butt and indeed trigger handle (juts out at 80degrees), these would not fit so cleanly into a sleeve, but yes the sleeve is the best bet.
