Hey guys I was wondering if one of you had an answer for a question about constitutional rights.

I was talking to my dad and apparently the town had ordered him to remove a pit fire kiln because they claimed it was "an eye sore" because the neighbor complained about how it looked. The neighbor also claimed that it was "dangerous" because "cats and small animals might wander into it and get stuck" which is total BS, it was essentially the shape and size of a doghouse and 80% underground. I hadn't even had the chance to use it before they complained to the town about it.

The town also said that we had to get rid of an old car on our property that wasn't running because it too "was an eye sore" My dad owns a house and its just a typical every day house - not like in a gated community or a condo or a development where special rules apply to it.

Isn't it unconstitutional to force someone to remove something from their property because they "don't like the way it looks" ? The "neighbors" are an old person retirement type small condo place. They have walked all over my family since we moved here 20 years ago. They dump their lawn clippings and branches and crap like that on our property, they trespass on our property (had to put up no trespassing signs EVERYWHERE) They have snooped around on our property, taken our blackberries that grow naturally in abundance. One of them even had the nerve to cut down a giant group of grape vines which had tons of fresh natural and clean tasty grapes each year.

To me it looks like they do what they want and get what they want (we are a very small town only 9k population or so) my parents are too afraid to stir up trouble so they just get walked all over.

Do you think its unconstitutional for them to say what we can and cant have on our property? I know about zoning and all that but we arent trying to have a business here or do something outrageous, and we do NOT have a junkyard in our back yard. We had 2 non functioning vehicles (VW jettas from 90s)

Codes is just like any other government run agency. They are there to extract money from you. My neighbor's late husband was a codes employee and she calls on me for something as little as having my car parked in the grass. Codes will come by send me a list of things that I'm "violating" and tell me to have it fixed before such and such date or I get fined daily. It's rediculous. But keep in mind you don't own any property as far as the government is concerned. Slaves can't own property. You're just a tenant. So in their view they can tell you what to do with "your" property. Can't wait for the carbon credit scam and $9 an hour treehuggers with a government approved checklist coming by.
