Toronto Police sources tell 680News that over a dozen uniforms are missing after being sent out to be cleaned over the past few days.

Police fear the uniforms could be used be people to misrepresent themselves as officers.

Toronto police public relations spokesperson Meaghan Gray told 680News she would not comment on the situation but said that security issues are always a concern.

"Certainly during this G20 planning period we've asked for our corporate partners to be particularly aware of any of these situations and to report any cases immediately to us." said Gray.

The thefts come less than two weeks before the G20 summit is to take place at the Metro Convention Centre.

Toronto Police communications officials had no comment.

Betty Skoutakis, the owner of Cadet Drycleaners, told The Toronto Star claims of missing uniforms are false.

“Nothing has been stolen,” she said. “I would know if we’re missing a belt.”

hmm. interesting, so that would imply the Toronto Police Source(s) who spoke with 680 indicated that the uniforms were indeed missing.. is what I get from the article.

The were probably given to agent provocateurs.

Another thing "missing" in Canada.

Wasn't there stuff reported "missing" during the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 too, and then they said it wasn't missing also?

Yep, there was ammonium nitrate that was supposed "missing."

Missing chemicals blamed on clerical error

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- The reported disappearance of 1 to 2 tons of a potentially explosive material involved a clerical error and not theft, officials at a Canadian firm said.

Officials at Kinder Morgan's chemical storage facility reported Dec. 31 the ammonium nitrate vanished during the transport of 6,000 tons of it from Alberta to Vancouver last fall.

Company officials now say a clerical error was made and no theft occurred, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Saturday.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police was especially concerned because of the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, which run Feb. 12-29 in Vancouver and other parts of British Columbia.

The threat level for the games remained low as the RCMP worked to "validate Kinder Morgan's assessment," RCMP Cpl. Annie Linteau said Friday in Vancouver.

A truck filled with about 1 ton of ammonium nitrate, commonly used as a fertilizer, was used in the bombing of the federal U.S. courthouse that killed 168 people in Oklahoma City, Okla., in 1995.
